CrimeUk-bound Nigerian Killed While Withdrawing Money In Imo by DaveHarry(op): 10:30am On Aug 24, 2023
A United Kingdom-bound Nigerian, Wisdom Chukumerem has been shot dead.

The 30-year-old Nigerian who hailed from Awo Ommamma in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, was shot three times in his chest by armed robbers at the World Bank junction roundabout in Owerri, the state capital.

The father of two was said to be withdrawing money from a Point Of Sale operator when his killers struck.

His immediate elder brother, Shedrack who spoke exclusively to The PUNCH in Owerri, on Monday, after the police operatives released the mortuary tally to him and gave him the clean bill of health to bury him, said that his family was trumatised by the killing of his young brother.

The distraught 32-year -old said that the armed robbers who robbed the POS operator killed his brother after accusing him of calling policemen to storm the scene.

He said that all the appeals his brother made to the armed robbers that he was not calling policemen fell on deaf ears as they shot him dead on the spot.

The businessman said that his brother was pronounced dead at the Umuguma Specialists General Hospital where policemen took him.

He said, “My name is Shedrack Anulika Chukwumerem. My younger brother’s name is Wisdom Somtochukwu Chukwumerem. He returned from abroad about three years ago. He had a house at world bank Area N And I was living with him in his house when I was driving a commercial service bus known as Bus Imo.

“But I relocated back to the village to start up a business. We are from Umuduru Isieke in Awo-omamma in the Oru East local government area of Imo State. At about 8pm on 10th August 2023, I received a distress call from his wife that my brother was shot by armed robbers

“So I drove straight to Owerri that same night and I was directed by the Policemen there to come to the Imo State specialist hospital and when I got there I saw my brother’s lifeless body and policemen were present there.

“He was married with two kids, all girls. He would have been 30 years on November 27. He ought to be traveling back to the UK by the first week of September before he was shot dead. So, the policemen told me that there was an armed robbery attack at the Umuguma roundabout at a POS stand and my brother was there to withdraw money eventually he was shot because they noticed he was on call and the robbers thought that he was trying to call the police against them.

“And he was shot in the left side of his chest. So I deposited his body at the morgue that same night. The policemen took the tally and told me to report the next day. He was my immediate younger brother. I’m 32 years old. He would have been 30 on 27 November.

“Now I have been compelled by the police at Umuguma Division to open a case file and I told them that I don’t want any case and I’m not interested in any case. They told me to open it even if I don’t want any case which I did.

“I went with them to the scene of the incident. It happened between 8 and 8:30 pm precisely. I have gone to the scene of the incident with the policemen and gone to the mortuary. They took pictures which I paid for. They told me to go to court and swear an affidavit which I did.

“The policemen at Umuguma Division transferred the matter to the homicide section of the State CID in Owerri which I did with money all in a quest to release my brother’s corpse for burial.

“And I was pushed to contact a lawyer. With the help of the lawyer, I have written an application to the CP for withdrawal of the case. The policemen are with the application which I submitted last week.”

Displaying the mortuary tally to our correspondent on Monday, Shedrack said that the policemen at the homicide section of the state police command had released it to him.

He said, “After meeting with the IPO in the company of my lawyer this afternoon, the mortuary tally of my brother has been released to me. Look at it. I can now bury him. But I will first take his corpse to a closer mortuary in my town to enable me to plan for his funeral rites easier.

“He was our breadwinner. My widowed mother is depressed. Our father died 20 years ago. His first daughter is three years old while the second daughter is just a year and three months. It is a very bad development for us. We are very saddened.”

When contacted, the spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, said that the withdrawal of the case and the family’s request for the police to allow them to bury their son do not in any way affect the investigation process.

He said that the police would continue with their investigation and once the suspects are arrested, they would be arraigned for murder.

“The withdrawal of the matter by the family doesn’t affect the police investigation. We will continue with the investigation. Once the fleeing suspects are caught, they would be arraigned for murder,” Okoye explained.

PoliticsAnger As States Warehouse Rice, Delay Palliatives Sharing by DaveHarry(op): 11:10am On Aug 23, 2023
The Nigeria Labour Congress, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, National Union of Pensioners and others in separate interviews with The PUNCH on Tuesday, lamented the hunger among their members and expressed misgivings about the way the palliatives package was being handled by the authorities.

Last Thursday, the Federal Government had announced the distribution of N180 billion and 180 trucks of rice to the states to ease the subsidy pains but many governors have kept the materials in warehouses while the workers and residents languish in hunger.

The Federal Government announced N5bn palliative for each state of the federation and 180 trucks of rice as part of measures to assuage the pains of the subsidy removal which had led to multiple hikes in fuel pump prices and driven up the prices of goods and services, worsening the poverty level in the country.

Announcing the release of the palliative at the end of the 135th National Economic Council meeting presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima in Abuja, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum disclosed that the N5bn was to enable the state governments to procure 100,000 bags of rice, 40,000 bags of maize and fertilizers to cushion the effect of food shortage across the country.

The Assistant General-Secretary, Nigeria Labour Congress, Chris Onyeka, said the delay by the Federal Government in providing its own palliatives for Nigerians was worrisome.

According to him, NLC officials in states were not part of the committee involved in the sharing of the palliatives.

Onyeka said, “We are not involved. How can we be involved? How can we be involved with the governors to share the federal palliatives? We are not part of it. I told you that what they have done is to dash money, N5bn each, to the boys, who are the state governors.”

On whether the labour union was working with states that had their own palliatives, the NLC official said, “For the ones engineered by state governments, our people have been involved since, like in the launching of buses by some states.

“But if it is the Federal Government-driven one, we are not interested. It is not part of our agreement.”

Asked whether the NLC would want to see the Federal Government speed up the provision of palliatives for Nigerians as demanded by many workers, he replied, “Yes, of course. We have been exercising patience, but the delay is becoming worrisome.

Labour faults committee

“There is a presidential committee on that and it is supposed to implement this. The President also promised that he is going to restructure the committee. But as we speak, he has not restructured it and that has not happened. They better hasten up because we still have our plans if they fail to act.”

Onyeka, however, said the NLC was opposed to the N5bn palliative package given to states, alleging that it was ‘’a form of settlement to state governors.’’

He said, “That money was a dash for the boys. We believe the government has used that money to settle the state governors. It is not for the ordinary Nigerian or worker.

“So the possibility that such money will get to Nigerians is very slim and that is the truth. We made it clear that we don’t want any palliative for Nigerian workers and the Nigerian people to be handled by state governors.’’

“We made this very clear to the Federal Government on several occasions. So any money they are giving to them (governors), we are not in support of it,” the NLC official stated.

He added, “But the one for Nigerian people and workers, we are still negotiating and we are trying to work that out with the Federal Government. Although, that is if they are willing to live up to their promises to Nigerians.”

Corroborating Onyeka, the NLC Chairman in Benue State, Terungwa Igbe said labour leaders were not involved in the palliative committee in the state.

Igbe said that contrary to what happened at the national level where labour leaders were involved in the palliative committee, such, he said had yet to be replicated in the state.

He said, “I’m not aware of palliative committee set up in the state here but at the national level, labour leaders were Involved and we are hoping that we will be involved in the state too.

The spokesperson for the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulrazaque Barkindo, could not be reached for comment on the allegations that the governors did not involved the labour leaders in the sharing of the palliatives and the allegations they warehoused the palliatives with little consideration for the suffering masses.

But an official said it was too early to level such allegations against the governors.

He said “It is too early to ask for any accountability or sharing of the paliative, even if you are the one given this palliative it can take up to five months before you can reach out to every part of a state.

“This money was given just last week, so the Nigerian Labour Congress shouldn’t be in a hurry to ask the governors for anything. I am aware that in Adamawa State, government included the NLC in the sharing committee. NLC is not being truthful.”

But the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics and the Nigeria Union of Teachers noted that only the implementation of a wage award would be sustainable for the Nigerian workers and not distribution of grains.

Workers, others lament

The spokesperson for the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Bunmi Ogunkolade, advised the states to quicken the processes while urging pensioners to mount pressure on their governors.

“Each state governor should quicken these processes of palliative disbursement. Pensioners should keep hope alive and endure little more. They should put more pressure on their state government. We should not keep quiet until we die,’’ he counselled.

Workers in the Lagos State Public Service have also decried the delay in the distribution of the palliatives by the state government.

A worker at the Audit Service Commission, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent on Tuesday that they have not received any grant or palliative from the state.

“I am a civil servant and we have not gotten any special grant or palliative from the state,” she said.

She added that workers in the state still go to work every day, saying, “We still report at the office every day.”

She called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu “to be more proactive and put words to action both in the (public) service and to Lagosians at large.”

Like their counterparts in Lagos, the NLC and Trade Union Congress in Kwara State said their members had yet to receive the promised palliative from the state government.

The Chairman of the Kwara State branch of the NLC, Saheed Olayinka said that no worker in the state has received foodstuff or any other package, apart from the N10,000 added to their salary.

“The labour unions were not included in the committee set up by the government to distribute the palliatives, we have not received anything from the government,” he said.

The TUC chairman in the state, Tunde Joseph, echoed the same sentiment, saying, “Our members have not received any foodstuff from the government apart from the N10,000 put on the workers’ salary.”

The Delta State chapter of the NLC said it is discussing the issue of palliative distribution with the state government.

The state NLC Chairman, Goodluck Ofobruku said nothing had been given to the workers in the state.

In Gombe State, the government’s plans to add an extra N10,000 to the workers’ salary had yet to take off.

The NLC Secretary in the state, Ibrahim Fika, said the wage award would run for six months.

The Director-General, Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, disclosed that the governor is targeting about 420,000 beneficiaries.

Anambra State government said it would give N12,000 monthly to its workers.

Announcing the sharing formula for the palliatives on Tuesday, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State said he raised the number of households targeted for palliatives across the state from 300,000 to 400,000 households.

Each household will be made up of six family members to be multiplied by 400,000 which, by implication, moves Zulum’s new target to 2.4m individuals.

RomanceSpanish FA President Urged To Resign By Spanish PM, Others by DaveHarry(op): 8:16pm On Aug 22, 2023
Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez has slammed RFEF president Luis Rubiales for kissing World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso.

'Apologies are not enough' says the Spanish prime minister insisting that Luis Rubiales kissing World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso was an 'unacceptable gesture'

The president of the Spanish football federation grabbed and kissed Hermoso on the lips on the podium during the trophy presentation ceremony of the 2023 World Cup final, after Jorge Vilda's troops beat England 1-0. After the incident, the official faced flak from all quarters, which forced him to apologise, despite remaining defiant in his initial reaction as he labelled his critics "losers" and "a**holes".

Rubiales' position is coming under increasing pressure, with Spanish prime minister Sanchez coming out to insist that "apologies are not enough" considering the magnitude of the incident.

Yolanda Diaz, the second deputy prime minister of Spain, has also criticised Rubiales and has demanded his resignation as "a woman has been harassed and assaulted”. Meanwhile, Irene Montero, the minister for equality, perceives the incident as a “form of sexual violence”.

Hermoso admitted she “did not like that” but later spoke out in defence of Rubiales, dismissing his actions as a "totally spontaneous mutual gesture because of the immense joy that winning a World Cup brings". She further stressed that the official's "behaviour with all of us has been outstanding and it was a natural gesture of affection and gratitude".

Despite the apology, Rubiales stands on shaken ground and it remains to be seen if he remains in his role as RFEF president amid growing pressure from Spanish politicians.

FamilyChildren And Teachers Trapped In Chairlift Dangling 274m Above Pakistan Canyon by DaveHarry(op): 11:36am On Aug 22, 2023
Pakistan's caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar ordered a helicopter to be sent to try and rescue those trapped aboard the chairlift.

An "extremely risky" rescue effort is under way to save six children and two teachers who are trapped in a chairlift dangling 274m (900ft) over a canyon in Pakistan.

Emergency workers using a helicopter are attempting to free the eight people, who have been stuck high in the air after a cable snapped on Tuesday.

Spanning a river and connecting villages in Battagram district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the chairlift is used by local villagers to shorten the distance to nearby schools, government offices and other businesses.

The children had been using the chairlift to get to school but have been stranded since 7am local time (3am UK).

Taimoor Khan, a spokesman for the disaster management authority, said a helicopter was dispatched to the site on orders by the prime minister to try and pluck the eight out of the chairlift.

Caretaker PM Anwaar ul Haq Kakar said he has told authorities to check the safety of all private chairlifts.

Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority said in a statement that a cable had broken in the lift service and attempts at fixing the fault had been unsuccessful.

One security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said special services troops, trained in sling operations, are involved in this "extremely dangerous and risky operation".

A rescue official said one child fainted "due to heat and fear".

Two army helicopters have been dispatched to the scene but the rescue mission is complicated due to gusty winds in the
area and the fact the helicopters' rotor blades risk further destabilising the lift, he said.

Army commandos could be seen on local TV trying to lower themselves on ropes from the choppers toward the gondola.

The incident comes several years after ten people were killed when a cable car lift installed by local villagers in the popular mountain resort of Murree broke and fell into a ravine hundreds of feet deep in 2017.

SportsSaudi Arabia Plan Sensational UCL 'wild Card' Request by DaveHarry(op): 7:58am On Aug 20, 2023
Saudi Arabia reportedly want a team in the Champions League as they plan a sensational 'wild card' request to UEFA.

According to a report in Corriere dello Sport, Saudi authorities want the Pro League winners to have a shot at the Champions League from the 2024-25 season. They plan to propose a wild card entry that would allow the Saudi domestic league champions to participate in Europe's top club competition.

The think tank at Jeddah would request UEFA to discard the current structure of the competition and replace it with a single championship-like format with 36 teams with eight matches for each team before the knockout stages. This would not only enable UEFA to increase the number of matches but also allow the Saudi team to participate in Europe.

If this proposal gets accepted by UEFA, it could potentially see the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Neymar play in Europe once again. Moreover, this would undoubtedly further enhance the profile and prestige of the Saudi Pro League on a global scale.

This is a significant challenge for the Saudi authorities to convince UEFA as it might require a complete structural overhaul of the competition. It remains to be seen if this proposal sees light at the end of the tunnel.

CrimePoliceman Killed My Husband In Our Children’s Presence – Rivers Widow by DaveHarry(op): 10:36am On Aug 19, 2023
Mrs Ebitari Peterside, the widow of 42-year-old Mr Alafuro Peterside, an engineer from Opobo, Rivers State, who was allegedly shot dead in the presence of his children in the Stadium Road area of Port Harcourt by a policeman attached to the Police Mobile Force, 43 Squadron, in Gombe State, shares her grief with a reporter DENNIS NAKU

How long have you been married and how many children do you have?

My name is Mrs Peterside Ebitari. I work as an administrator at the Federal University, Otueke in Bayelsa State. I have been married for 12 years and I have three children.

Can you explain how your husband died?

We were on a long vacation, so we came home. We returned home about two weeks before this incident happened. On that day, which was August 3, between 5pm and 6pm, my husband called and told me that since he returned from work he had not taken the kids out and that we should get ready because he would like to take us out. So, I got them (my children) dressed up. When he came, he said he wanted to take us to his aunt’s place. His aunt, Jesse Ogolo, has an eatery called Bennie’s Restaurant and Lounge on Stadium Road (now called Ken Saro-Wiwa-Wiwa Road). So, he said he wanted to see her and patronise her as well. So, we got there at about 6pm. Before we went into the restaurant, he said he wanted to show me something in a boutique in front of the eatery. At that time, a man was standing just outside and he told me that the man was one of her aunt’s security aides – a police officer attached to the lounge and that he was in charge of security. So, it was safe for the kids to be there. We got into the boutique, looked at what he had seen, and all that, and went into the lounge. When we got there, we ordered what we wanted and then went into the VIP session. It was just us and the kids, so, we ate together, had drinks and even took some pictures. When it was getting late at about 9pm and my daughter was sleeping, I told my husband that we had to go because the kids were getting tired. When we came out of the VIP session and went to the open space, she (his aunt) was there sitting down and eating. He told her that he wanted to talk to her but I told him that I would wait for him in the car because the kids were already tired. So, I left him there with her and went into the car to wait for him. They spent quite some time discussing and shortly after I entered the car with the kids, I suddenly heard that there was an armed robbery, so there was little chaos.

What was the distance between where your husband and his aunt were and the place the car was parked?

They were talking inside and we were parked outside in front of a DSTV office which shares a fence with the lounge. So, when we came, the security man told us to park in front of the DSTV office, maybe to create space or something. However, as I heard people shouting about that armed robbers, I just told the kids to quickly duck, and then when l looked outside the window, I saw a red car parked in front of the lounge. And then some people jumped into the car and drove off. So as that happened, I think people ran into the lounge to raise the alarm over what happened.

Where was your husband at that time?

A few minutes later, when the chaos died down, my husband came out of the lounge and came into the car. I told him he took too much time and he apologised. So, he started the car, reversed, and turned, but in front of us was a police officer with his gun pointing in my husband’s direction. So, he just shot him, and it (the bullet) went straight to his chest, and he (my husband) screamed. I also screamed. My husband opened the door and after that, the police officer went passed us and still fired more shots. I can’t remember how many. But at that time, I didn’t really care. I just ran inside quickly to alert my husband’s aunt that he had been shot. When I came out with her, I saw him lying down in front of the boutique close to her car. She immediately called her driver and one of her security aides in uniform to quickly take him to a private hospital. As we got there, I called my brother-in-law. We were there for some time and at the end of the day, a doctor said my husband didn’t make it. I said it wasn’t true, though I saw my husband not moving. It is so bad that up till now, I am still in denial (that he is dead). I still cannot believe it’s true because this is someone I was with. How could he just die like that? It doesn’t make sense.

Did he have a disagreement with anyone that day?

None that I know of.

Do you think your husband was murdered?

If somebody shoots another and that person dies, it’s murder.

The police, in their reaction to that incident, said it was a case of stray bullets during the robbery that took place that day. Is that what you think it was?

My husband was in the car. I was in the car. My three kids were in the car. The policeman stood in front of us. The robbers were gone; it’s not like the robbers were there. The policeman stood in front of us and shot, so I don’t know how a stray bullet works, but I know maybe it’s something you shoot in the air or somewhere and then it touches someone. However, you don’t come directly in front of a man, shoot him in front of his family, and then say it’s a stray bullet. To me, it doesn’t make sense. I don’t know what they are driving at. I don’t know the whole conspiracy behind this whole thing, but what I know is that there were no robbers when he shot my husband. Was there a robbery? Supposedly, Yes. Did the robbers shoot or kill anybody when they came? No! Did I see them with any gun? No. Were there police officers? When the robbers were there, I didn’t see any police officer trying to touch them or anything. But it was when they (robbers) were gone that the police officer came. So, unless he has an explanation, I have not heard anything from him.

What would you like to find out from him?

I would like to know why he did what he did. If it was a mistake, I don’t know what possessed him at that time but it wasn’t a stray bullet and the irony of the whole thing is it could have been anybody. It could have been me, it could have been any of my kids. If they said it was a stray bullet it’s careless because you know that life is not something you can buy. How can somebody all of a sudden be no more? So, what does it show? It shows that nobody is safe in this country, as far as I am concerned. Now, I have to leave with it as a reality that my husband was shot in front of me and my three kids and we have to leave like this for the rest of our lives.

Did your husband say anything to you shortly after he was shot or before he died?

He didn’t say anything. My children asked me about their father and I told them he was in heaven and that he was in a better place. What else can I say? When they saw what happened, they thought he was in the hospital.

How old are your children?

They are 11, nine and four years old, respectively. I have two boys and a girl.

What was your husband’s occupation?

He was working with an oil and gas company. It was like a contract job and offshore.

Has his employer visited you?

Yes, they have visited me.

Was the outing that day the first time he ever took you and your children out to relax?

Normally, when he is around, we go out, even if it was once in a while since we didn’t live with him here (in Rivers State).

How have you been coping with the children?

I think God, with the help of the Holy Spirit, and then with the belief that somehow my husband has gone to work and will come back, have been keeping us.

What role has your deceased husband’s aunt played in the investigation and how has she been relating with you since he died?

She was there and saw everything that happened. She followed us to the military hospital mortuary where his body was deposited. After that, my husband’s aunt came to the house eight days after his passing. Since then I have not heard from her again and the police said all attempts to reach her to get her statement had been futile. I don’t really have any relationship with her.

What else did the police tell you as part of the investigation?

The police officer in charge of the case spoke to my late husband’s elder brother. He told me that the police said they didn’t have the money to fund the autopsy, and that the complainant, that is the family, would have to pay for the autopsy to be done at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. The officer also said the forensic analysis of the gun would be done in Lagos and that we would pay for the cost of transportation for the two policemen that would be sent to Lagos to get the report and all that. They have not been able to retrieve the CCTV footage in front of the lounge. They said they would need to get a court order to access the CCTV footage in front of the DSTV office sharing a fence with the lounge, and for that, we needed to pay about N35,000.

I don’t know why the police are not asking for the CCTV footage in front of the lounge because I was not at the meeting but my in-law attended. What he told me they asked for was the one at the DSTV office. The investigation is draining and very tiring. For now, it looks like they seized his body.

PoliticsNLC Faults N180 Billion Palliatives, Says Governors Will Frustrate Programme by DaveHarry(op): 7:20am On Aug 18, 2023
The organised labour has knocked the Federal Government for releasing a N180bn palliative package to states to cushion the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.

The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress insisted that the governors could not be trusted, noting that politicians and not the poor would benefit from the N5bn largess given to each state government for disbursement to the citizens.

The Federal Government on Thursday announced an N5bn palliative for each state of the federation and 180 trucks of rice as part of measures to assuage the pains of the subsidy removal.

The policy, which led to sharp and multiple increases in fuel pump prices, has driven up the prices of goods and services, pushing millions of Nigerians into poverty and worsening the socio-economic situation in the country.

The development also triggered nationwide protests by organised labour which insisted on the repair of refineries as a precondition for the subsidy withdrawal.

But announcing the release of the palliative at the end of the 135th National Economic Council meeting presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima in Abuja, the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, disclosed that the N5bn was to enable the state governments to procure 100,000 bags of rice, 40,000 bags of maize and fertilizers to cushion the effect of food shortage across the country.

He added that considering the urgency in meeting the need to mitigate the skyrocketing food prices across the country, the Federal Government had last week released five trucks of rice to each state of the federation.

Shettima explained, “NEC met today and expressed serious concerns as regards increasing cost of food items, increasing cost of transportation amongst others as a result of subsidy removal. In order to cushion the effect of subsidy removal, the federal government released five trucks of rice to each state last week.

“Furthermore, in order to cushion the effect of food shortages across the country, the Federal Government has approved the sum of N5bn to be given to each state for the procurement of 100,000 bags of rice, 40,000 bags of maize, and fertilizers.

“This funding has to be shared with a formula as follows: 52 percent of this money is given to states as grants, while 48 per cent of the N5bn is to be paid back on an installment basis within a period of 20 months to the CBN by the states and the local government areas in Nigeria.

“The council commended the efforts of the Federal Government under the leadership of President Tinubu as well as the CBN. We have also commended the efforts of NEMA in cushioning the effects of the subsidy removal.

“Council has taken bold decisions in order to ensure speedy release of grains and other items in order to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on the less privileged in the society.’’

He noted that the council took bold decisions in order to ensure the speedy release of grains and other items for immediate distribution to the less privileged in society.

Shettima added, “The council has also taken note of the $800m loan and insists that it be strictly used for the intended purpose and based on an accurate and acceptable register. The $800m announced by the president will go to Nigerians in accordance with an accurate social register.

“Furthermore, the council has also noted the package that was announced by the President in order to cushion the effect of subsidy removal, amounting to about N500bn.

“This fund has to be distributed to the following sectors: MSMEs, industrial sector; about N125 billion will go for cash transfers, agricultural sector as well as gas expansion for buses.

“And because of the increasing cost of fossil fuel, the federal government intends to establish more gas stations in Nigeria and procure more gas-powered buses, CNG buses as well as electric buses.”

He said the council commended the efforts of the Federal Government and the CBN in addressing the current situation in the country.
