TheSuperNerd: Maduka Okoye saying his Goodbyes to the Sparta Fans
Two seasons with the rotterdam outfit and he didn't go down. First season saw him lead Sparta Rotterdam to the brink of European Football qualification. Second saw him lead them away from Relegation.
Two seasons culminating in 171 saves across 58 league games (approximately 3 saves/game).
Okoye leaves Sparta a hero. The EFL/Skybet Championship's "die-to-get-3pts" football await.
Photos Courtesy: Sparta Rotterdam. So happy it ended this way for him. I recall you predicting he'll win the fans over. Here we are. |

Escape relegation with Sparta but now joining relegated Watford in Championship. Some called it "relegated super eagles team" |

It will be painful playing Europa no doubt. From 4points gap to now chasing Spurs. And those guys want to score more. Its not easy, but if it comes to europa, if he can't win it this type, he should be fired straight up. Yeah. Not to talk of the current transfer targets that 7/10 of them won't come if no ucl football.
One funny thing i expected from the Spurs game was Arteta frustrating Conte by defensive game. Its a negative thought and na why e dey vex the likes of Klopp and Pep. The aim is frustration of your opponent and also the big lesson of holding out and ginger gotten to players cos it shows their concentration is improving.
That would have gotten a result, especially as we are good on counters. Holding decided to be unfortunate. |

Roland17: Naaaa. Arsenal are not chasing the top 4 at all. We have achieved our season target by qualifying for Europa league and people have gotten their contract extensions for meeting the target, everything else na jara. I don’t believe the FA is interested in what you are making inferences to. Twice this year, Arsenal have been in control of the 4th position and we blew it, this has nothing to do with the FA or refs.
This is a team of mediocrity/ weak mentality and showing signs of lethargy and indifference to finishing 4th. It is a very thin squad that is now beat down and barely able to stay up by the 90th minute of most games, consequently, they have nothing left. The PK against Spuds was questionable I admit but we played very very poorly to deserve anything from that game.
While wins against United and Chelsea were great and repositioned us, it should not overshadow the fact that the team was playing poorly and had lost consecutive games against Palace and Brighton. Post United/ Chelsea we scraped wins against the Hammers and Leeds, finishing both games parking Dangote trailers and Bokoharam tested trailers.
Our only hope is for Burnley to perform some magic with hopes that we can get all 6 points from our remaining fixtures against Newcastle and Everton. Once again, we are in control. Burnley disappointed. Lol. Imagine Newcastle draw That means na Goal Difference go decide matter on mD38 I've been talking about such a scenario since md26. +24 far from +11. To avoid such, Newcastle suppose collect 5, which is very unlikely. Odegaard has been subpar since Chelsea game. |

mostob: well.. talking about falling easily, Is he at least at the level of Guen physically? And I don't know why Edu is so obessed with Brazilian players lately. Guen is stronger by far. I dunno why no Africans are scouted to me. So far none in years. The others are brits from the academy but pure Caf footballer? None. If Osimhen come to Emirates, he's going to be the one to break that jinx. Edu should look round abeg. I love the Bologna connection though. Those guys make adaptation easy for Arsenal style. |

shrewd1: Arteta coaches one of the best midblock/deepblock teams. Insert Holding into the arsenal team with one man down and only rodri has been able to breach artetas team when one man down.
So your statement holds little strength. Feel free to see it that way. There are a lot of games that proves just what I'm saying. Can Arsenal play with 9men under Arteta? |

Na Ligue 1 or la liga fit that Macquinhos boy. He falls easily and barely a threat attacking. If they want SAmerican that bad, Richalison no far abeg. |

Arteta has proven in all redcard situations that he has no plan b. Especially when he tweaks things to cover the red. It only makes things worse.
I recall one time Mou was training inter guys to play with 9 players in anticipation of a red. That training paid off well. |

Jodera: Holding don hold Diego Costa, don hold Chelsea attack in our 4-2 win. Even most.ob was saying Holding should have Man Mark Kane. That's to tell you the confidence perhaps Arteta had in him. You don't need speed to disrupt a player movement. Being smartly aggressive and positioning would do that and even if he's beaten, Gabriel and Elneny was always there to mop up(watch the game to see it)
Holding wasn't just smart and that was my frustration
As for the dream. I swear, na to dey use am dey make money now oo. This is the 3rd time it's happening and the correct score dey always shele.
E be like say na once a season e dey always happen I disagree on the speed part. You will need speed if you want to man mark Son or Salah. Or else they'll gbe e l'andicap. Especially Son. |

50d33q: Don't mind them, at this stage i won't be excited if we qualify The manner we lost to the top 6 is very embarrassing to say the least we defended and lost like a coward We were leading man utd until we started dropping back liverpool home and away was an eye sore Against city we attacked them scored, even guardiola never expected such coming from arsenal until ref decided to step in(this same useless paul tierney) My conclusion we attacked city and almost got the result if not for ref, we attacked man utd and beat them well, we attacked chelsea and also beat them Why should we defend deep is my problem when we can always take our chances with good attacking play Even to defend we can't do it well First it was we could get results 50-50 vs top 5, but no small team were brave to beat Arsenal. Then slowly, expect no result vs top 5, and small teams became braver. Gradually till now Expect nothing except luck and small teams now beat Arsenal like championship side. To recover this pride is not hard. Just that it brings impatient. This was was Emery was tryna do. It didn't end well. Smh. If we see ucl, barely any excitement will follow. Too bad Then |

Ramsey 8 is unmatched. He won games with or without assistance from anyone. He and Sanchez teaming up against top 4 teams to het Goals.
Odegaard and Ceballos experiment no be am. They may suit Arteta but they're not even excellent in his system. He's improved this season and rightly so.
But.. |

Android22: Holding was just stupid. That second yellow was clear. I don't feel the game is over though but it won't come from being slick. Arsenal need to get a Spurs player like Davies sent off. He's switched things up so that Saka wing is dormant. Useless he sacrifices One of Odegaard or Nelli and get Pepe on. |

Tottenham should forget champions league next season woh. Its better they beat Newcastle and Everton silly. These guys are still doing like learners. See that weak shot from Odegaard? Well na tension sha I saw Cedric smhing after the second goal. Things dey quick switch. Unfortunate. |

Android22: I don't think your line is high. I feel like that first PK could have been ignored in such a high tension game but the second yellow is well deserved. I have observed that Martinelli does not look up when he receives the ball alot of his dribbles would be unnecessary if he just made the simple pass to expect it back in a 1-2 format. actually its a high line. Holding is not fast so i wonder why such from Arteta. Besides Tomi should have faced Son. Toe to toe. A pity Tavares can't be trusted enough. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by daveP(m): 8:43pm On May 12, 2022 |
Android22: You guys need Pepe in this game. Tell him to dribble into the box every single time to either get a PK or a Spurs player sent off. It does not matter that you may lose or not but protecting the result as is is useless. Davies is even on yellow already. Holding no get sense. Mtcheww. He supposed to read the room. Only Davies have a yellow. He went from silly to cunny to stupid. Why i hate this situation is that Arteta enter that dreadful mode that Guardiola enters in any game-overthinkimg. Which makes things far worse. |
