Me too don think am too.. That's why I suggested people like kanu, Yak, amunike even Martins Can help to talk to the players.. And tell them what it means to go to world cup... If it's possible follow them to Russia and ginger them... This Wil help alot...

mank1234: So Onazi, Echejile, Alloy Agu - the kjeper trainer and other former players around the team can't do this except your Martins? These guys you mentioned, do you think they have respect from others? asin the respect of 'i look up to you'. Even their performance is proportional to confidence and respect from teammates. i'l let this case lie. Agu's biz is majorly with the gks and not the whole team. |

safarigirl: you said the players need someone to mentor them about on and OFF pitch behaviour.
I believe his unconventional family counts as off pitch, we wouldn't want these boys endangering their careers and money by having multiple baby mamas. Not everyone will be able to get a team in the Chinese league that can pay them bastard money to afford child support Now dont go that far cos it doesnt affect a dime of their careers. John Terry comes to mind even when he was tagged finished. He has a bad, worse off pitch lifestyle than Martins. That didnt stop his influence or hinder him from dishing out advices(Adele performed in a show and sang 'someone like you'. JT was in d crowd singing it with passion. I laughed hard that day). Let's disregard the personal lifestyle stuff. It buttresses no point!! It makes it personal than it seems. I however hold onto your view on team blend. |

Mujtahida: Why didn't you call for him during the qualifiers? Every dog has his day. Theirs have come, let them enjoy it. Leave Martins and co out. Tastes and preferences of the managers during that period. His Levante and MLS days, he was banging in goals and they kept tagging him as 'finished'. His Levante manager said he wasnt finished yet even if peeps tagged him that. It was unfair to him. I personally prefer to see and Aluko than a Martins. Im in this cos he is tagged 'old' |

safarigirl: what are we getting Enyeama for if not to support Mikel?
And what does Martins know that he wants to tell these boys? Leon is 29-years old, John Ogu is 27, V. Moses is 26, Onazi is 25, each of these people have more than enough stories to use to inspire those boys concerning on and off pitch behaviour, and they can certainly offer better advice than Martins that has multiple baby mamas and no wife.
What else will Martins offer them? Or does he have ogbonge World Cup experience to tell of? Tales from the bench perhaps you didnt need bring that up. its not a morality/personal life issue na. ororo&tubaba dey o. Note that im not strongly advocating his inclusion. We dont know what he can offer. All these players you mentioned cant do it. They've not attained that status. |

soetanoreoluwa: He was part of 2010 world cup.. And he had issues with the coach cos he benched him Yeah i just rem. Maybe cos he played just 71mins in 2games. Besides he didnt have issues with Lars. I recall that Lars felt more comfy with Yak the misser. Then his mum's state of health, thus he wasnt concentrated. |

safarigirl: I've followed those boys more than you. He will not blend....Enyeama too will not blend, but Enyeama is only being discussed because we have scarce quality options in his position.
Why is Martins being discussed? I for call u mother confessor@boldened(if you were actually correct), but dont conclude like that na. My own angle will be that he is being discussed cos of what he can offer both on and off pitch. Osaze couldnt. Mikel needs a partner to help tell these young blood, etc why they should behave, how things were done back then.(Pirlo does that for Italy, why cant we replicate?). If you think he has totally naffin to offer, then i'd say youre wrong!! Currently with Enyeama's absence, there's no commanding presence/Figurehead among the players. (shrugs). But dont shut him out cos of his age. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by daveP(m): 11:11pm On Oct 26, 2017 |
safarigirl: it is not age that is the issue
Team Spirit is the issue here and everybody is waving that aside as if the Osaze we carried in 2014 was able to lead us to a Quarter Finals in the World Cup
The team that led Ghana to their Q/finals position in 2010, did it not have a sizeable number of youth? Did Ghana have to bring in a player that had been exiled for two years to get there? Was it a team of exceptional talents or top scorers in various leagues?
Some are asking what happens against SA...lack of a leader was what happened. We did not lose because it was a youthful team, we lost because there was no leader on and off the pitch. for now, we dont have a caucus that can bark orders or disorganize camp, which is good. Obagoal has a clean record in camp and several managers(club&country) applaud him for always avoiding 'trouble'. I doubt he's so grumpy to cause division in camp if invited. Ghana's determination and motivation was themselves&no one else. |

kennysville: World cup is almost here bro. The same people singing youth youth , balance balance , chance chance will still come and sing something else. Have we really answered the question what happened against South Africa? Or we are just deluding ourselves. Will we say we ddnt have quality on the pitch? How did we fall like a pack of cards?.... Exactly! Thats why im on team 'a lot can happen in 8months'!! |

safarigirl: you will not understand my point because you can't even get the argument
You just think I'm worried Martins will 'take my favourite's position'....your angle is myopic, mine is deeper than your football statistics and club performance Team chemistry is your angle. I think he'l blend. He may have much respect and isolation cos half of the current squad watched him play from their homes(not yet professional). Will he cause kasala? Compare who would between him and Enyeama? Im seeing both angles here. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by daveP(m): 10:44pm On Oct 26, 2017 |
We should brace up....
If its cos of age Obagoal musnt go to Russia, thats unfair. Any other reason is welcome. Osaze was practically our best attacker in Brazil and he was locked out 2years prior to the World cup. He was 'old' yet he performed better than even Vicmo. What are we saying?
As much as i want a young squad, we musnt clamor for it too much, else we're suffering from wenger syndrome. |
