Check vehicle manual for the right spec of AC refrigerant and compressor oil for your car.
Using anything else would potentially cause damage.

Exactly what happened to me. I was told the AC only needs gas, they refuiled the gas for me and it was cooling, I made payment and left with the car, after 2weeks the AC wasn't cooling again. Uptill now I keep refilling AC gas every 2weeks
Compressor issue
My mechanic talk say I need to change the compressor to manual which costs 35k

Check your hoses and AC lines first. Especially if they are rubber hoses.

Most of you are wrong about the resale value any car bought in 2019 as tokunbo would be worth same tokunbo price in naija used now because of

1. Inflation in Nigeria economy

2. Naira depreciation against international currency.

Also a camry 2006 is worth 2.5m tokunbo and naija used around 1.8m, difference of 700k. A honda accord DC is worth 1.8 to 2m tokunbo and naija used is around 1.4m difference of 600k. The honda cost less to purchase and has a better value loss than the camry.

Hondas had poor re-sale value in the past because of the poor maintenance habits of the owners then.
But now, people know well to only use Honda fluids (and nothing else) in Hondas.

The bolded isn't exactly true. Where I am in the North, in our car stand, we sell more than 5-10 Hondas and/or Mecs (esp w202 and w203) before we sell out a single Toyota car. Sometimes, you can sell 10 DCs Evil Spirit and even baby boy before you get one person asking for a Corolla or a Camry. Most Corolla and Camry's here are demanded for by Southerners living here, most esp bankers, NGO guys, Igbo traders.

Northerners have always preferred Honda.

Sorry but you may need to do a little more research. Pick the models you are interested in and we can help you choose.

Eg
For Honda, there's Civic, City, etc.
For Toyota, there's Corolla, Yaris, etc.
For Nissan, there's Sentra, Sunny, etc.
For Mazda,.... Well you get the idea.

Other questions...
1. Are you looking to buy New, Tokunbo or Nigerian used?
2. What model years are you looking at? 2005 to 2010 or something more recent 2013 to 2019?
3....

All these need to be considered when looking towards " low maintenance, cheap parts and fuel conservative".

When I was using EOD, my eye saw fire, but since I changed to civic 09 about a year ago, If I have to visit mechanic, it's either leg work or servicing.

No error codes at all, very strong and reliable.

A lot depends on the hands doing your maintenance for you..... as well as your own maintenance habits.

A lot also depends on the state of the car before it was purchased.

IMO, the EOD is still a great car.

that means your engine is running too rich. The air to fuel ratio is unbalanced . It's getting in more fuel than air.
this could be caused by

1. A leaking fuel injector
2. A blocked fuel return pipe
3. A broken oxygen or airflow sensor
4. A fuel pressure regulator that is permanently or stuck closed.

You should scan your car to narrow down the problems and attack the cause. Changing brain box is lazy and expensive work

O2 sensor issues and coolant sensor issues.

If fan is wired directly, engine will keep on trying to attain optimum temperature, and thus, ECU will keep feeding more fuel. Unfortunately, the O2 sensor cannot provide feedback (due to its issues) so ECU doesn't know that fuel is already getting too much.

That's my deduction from this distance but then there may be more to it. Who knows....

I pity the child of that mechanic. The day he will have headache, the father will tell him to go change his brain.

There are some Nigerians who maintain their cars well too, and then there are whites who bastardize cars too (a lot).

I suspect the coolant sensor on the radiator has been bupassed and fan is always on, right? If this is not the case, then you should check is sensor is properly connected (not shaking).

Better still, check your vehicle into a decent workshop (not those trial and error ones). Physical inspection and brief history needed.

Just run.

Refilling gas isn't expensive.
So if that's the only problem, I bet the seller will refill before putting up for sale; make some extra buck.

The reality though, is that there is likely a large leak or some other problem. The owner probably has no idea what the real problem is.
Or he may be aware but wants to sell as is and is unwilling to give any explanation.

OP himself should please give an update also when vehicle is found.

As long as you are not driving without number plates, you should have no issues with customs.

However, first do a VIN history check, to confirm vehicle hasn't been used in a foreign country. Get a printout.

Go along with that and with all registration documents up to 7 years past, as advised by Gazzuzz.
