The Captain believes the Chipolopolo will put up a show and prove to the Super Eagles they meant business in their quest to earn a ticket to their first ever World Cup.

A defeat for the Eagles would extend the battle for the group winner to the last group games while a win will guaranty them group winners. A draw is good enough to seal the Super Eagles a spot in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The final game will see Nigeria away to Algeria and Zambia home to Cameroon.

Wedson added : ”From now on, we are going to give ourselves a whole lot and think about our next game against Nigeria, to try to qualify. Now we are seriously thinking about qualifying at the World Cup.”

SportsForget Russia 2018, Nigeria Got The Momentum- Algeria Coach Tells Zambia by david7777(op): 9:26am On Sep 06, 2017
Algeria manager Lucas Alcaraz has written off the chances of Zambia qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, insisting that they should channel their energy into qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.

In the race for qualifying in Group B of the African World Cup qualifiers, the Chipolopolo are only three points off the pace heading into their next fixture with leaders Nigeria on October 7, following their shock 1-0 win over the Desert Warriors on Tuesday night.

”Zambia has a balanced squad with a blend of youngsters but I don’t think they can make it for the World Cup in Russia,” Alcaraz told reporters, according to Daily Mail Zambia.

”I know it was an interesting result in Cameroon, which gives hope to other teams, but still the momentum is with Nigeria.

”Zambian coach [Wedson Nyirenda] has a good team but I think he should concentrate on building a strong team with the focus on qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.

”I believe the Qatar target is attainable if they can maintain the same performance.”

Zambia have never qualified for the World Cup while their next opponents Nigeria have made five appearances in total.

NFF President Amaju Pinnick expressed confidence that the Eagles would wrap up the World Cup ticket when they host Zambia in Uyo next month.

A 75th minute equaliser by Cameroon Vincent Aboubacar denied Nigeria from collecting three points from their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Yaounde, as the riveting game on Monday night ended in a 1-1

”I praise them for their efforts since the qualifying campaign started and I want them to go for the three points against Zambia so that we wrap up the ticket quickly without further delay.

”Everyone called it the Group of Death, but we are alive to tell the story, and a very good story at that. We await Zambia and I believe the sweet story will be completed in great style.”

Nigeria’s Sports Minister, Barrister Solomon Dalung, who met the players just before they left their hotel for the stadium and gave them a message of encouragement from President Muhammadu Buhari, hailed the players for their spirit and sure –footed approach.

HealthNatural Ways To Prevent Falling Sick To Malaria Often by david7777(op): 9:35am On Sep 04, 2017
Sleep well: Sleeping well enough, I believe, is a major way to prevent malaria. The body needs to be high in immunity to fight diseases. Getting enough sleep gets the human body to top function, thereby giving it strength to fight the malaria parasite. You may have noticed, most times before people take ill to malaria, their body immunity is normally low, probably due to lack of sleep or anything that makes the body lack proper strength.
Drink lots of fluids: When the human body is hydrated, the malaria parasites are easily flushed out of the body. Water, fresh juices, coconut water and milkshakes are some fluids that are good in eliminating the parasite from the body quickly. By the way, we are required to drink 2 liters of water per day.

SportsPSG Striker Neymar To Sue Barcelona After Barcelona Sued Him by david7777(op): 9:48am On Aug 25, 2017
Forward Neymar is to sue former club Barcelona over a 26m euros (£23.97m) unpaid loyalty bonus included in the contract he signed last November.

It comes after Barcelona said they were suing the new Paris St-Germain player for 8.5m euros (£7.83m), as they want him to return the bonus paid when he signed the five-year extension.

Fifa said it had received a claim from the Brazilian against Barcelona.

On Tuesday, Neymar announced he will contest the Catalan club’s lawsuit.

The 25-year-old’s management group N & N Consultoria said in a statement that the player had fulfilled the terms of the deal

PSG broke the world transfer record earlier this month by triggering the 222m euros (£200m) buyout clause in Neymar’s contract.

The 25-year-old won two La Liga titles, three Copas del Rey and the 2015 Champions League during his four years with Barcelona.

SportsList Of Star Footballers That Used Banned Medicines During The 2010 World Cup by david7777(op): 12:46pm On Aug 22, 2017
Ex-Premier League stars Carlos Tevez, Dirk Kuyt and Gabriel Heinze have been named by hackers Fancy Bears as three footballers allowed to use banned medicines during the 2010 World Cup.

The trio were among 25 players given Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs) during the tournament in South Africa.

The Russian group also claims 160 players failed drugs tests in 2015 in the latest leaked documents.

Four of the failed tests were registered by UK Anti-Doping (Ukad).

Three players tested positive for cocaine and one for ecstasy.

This is the first time Fancy Bears hackers have released details about football, having previously released medical records of athletes.
What are therapeutic use exemptions?

A TUE allows an athlete, for medical reasons, to take a prescribed substance or have treatment that is otherwise prohibited.

British athletes must contact their national governing body or follow Ukad guidance before applying for a TUE.

There are strict criteria for one to be granted:

The athlete would suffer significant health problems without taking the substance.
It would not be significantly performance-enhancing.
There is no reasonable therapeutic alternative to its use.
The need to use it is not due to prior use without a TUE.

Ukad says it has “a number of robust controls in place to make it as difficult as possible” for athletes to misuse the system.

Fancy Bears first hacked the World Anti-Doping agency (Wada) database on 13 September last year and began revealing athletes’ confidential details and information regarding TUEs.

Sir Bradley Wiggins was forced to defend himself in the face of scrutiny following the leak of his medical records.

The IAAF – athletics’ world governing body – then said in April it was hacked by the group earlier this year.

Mo Farah, Helen Glover and Justin Rose were among the British athletes who had their medical files made public.

SportsJean Michael Seri Set To Join Barcelona But Wanted Real Madrid Move by david7777(op): 10:46am On Aug 22, 2017
Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Nice star Seri as they look to reinvest the £200million from Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spanish giants are being frustrated by Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund for Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele respectively and have now turned to Seri.

Reports say Barca will activate a £36.6m (€40m) release clause in Seri’s contract although there have been counter-claims such a buy-out deal has expired.

But Spanish website Don Balon say Seri will wear the colours of Barcelona this season.

And they claim that the 26-year-old actually would prefer to join Real Madrid rather than Barca.

Seri is an Ivory Coast international but came to prominence in Ligue 1 with Nice and was keen to play under France legend Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.

Don Balon add Seri even informed Zidane of his desire to join him in Madrid.

But Zidane ruled out any move because Real Madrid have a number of central midfielders in their squad already and due to concerns over his ability to compete at the highest level.

Seri is supposedly a Barcelona fan though, with quotes made during an interview with beIN Sports two years ago resurfacing.

“Since I was a child I dreamt about Barca,” he said. “I am a fan of Barca.

“Because theirs is a style of football that I like. Lots of players like a team that plays football, so Barca is my team.

“Aside from that, you never know what is going to happen in life. God might have decided otherwise. I don’t know, but I will do everything to reach that level.”

SportsPSG Changes Plan Due To UEFA Rule, Seeks To Get Kylian Mbappe On Loan by david7777(op): 9:38am On Aug 22, 2017
Paris Saint-Germain are in talks with Monaco over a season-long loan deal for Kylian Mbappe with an agreement to buy the striker next summer, according to Sky sources.

It is understood the deal includes Lucas Moura heading to the French Ligue 1 champions the other way, but Sky Sports News understands PSG and Monaco are far from an agreement at this stage.

PSG signed Neymar in a world-record £200m transfer from Barcelona earlier this month and must comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. It is believed a loan move for Mbappe this season would assist the French club in meeting UEFA requirements.

Sky in Italy have reported that the overall deal involving Mbappe and the Brazilian Moura is worth around £128m. They also claim midfielder Fabinho is the subject of talks over his own move to PSG in the current transfer window.

Mbappe has been the subject of intense transfer speculation all summer, with interest from a string of top clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

But Monaco said last month there would be “no more departures” from the Ligue 1 champions after an exodus of top stars and further interest in Thomas Lemar, Djibril Sidibe and midfielder Fabinho.

They also denied they had received a world record £161m offer from Real for the 18-year-old Mbappe, who has shot to the top of world football in a single season.

Mbappe scored 26 goals and added eight assists last season as Monaco were crowned champions and advanced to the last four of the Champions League.

And Monaco have said they want him to sign a new contract, with talks having been held over fresh terms.

SportsEngland Coach Tells Eniola Aluko “don’t Bring Your Nigerian ‘‘ebola’ Family" by david7777(op): 8:32am On Aug 22, 2017
English striker of Nigerian descent Eniola Aluko has shockingly alleged England women’s national team manager Mark Sampson told her to make sure her Nigerian relatives did not bring the Ebola virus to a game at Wembley.

Aluko has spoken publicly for the first time about the “bullying and discrimination” she says she was subjected to by England head coach Mark Sampson.

Aluko last year made a series of allegations to the Football Association in a complaint about the behaviour of Sampson, who was subsequently cleared of racial discrimination, bullying and harassment following an independent inquiry commissioned by the governing body.

In her first broadcast interview since details of the controversy emerged earlier this month, the Chelsea Ladies striker – who has 102 caps and scored 33 goals for her country – told the BBC:

She was dropped by England just days after she had made allegations against Sampson having been asked by the Football Association to be part of a review – and suffered “victimisation as a result of me reporting discrimination”.

Sampson made what she says was a “racist comment” about her family in Nigeria being infected with the Ebola virus that left her “shocked and intimidated”.

The FA say this allegation arose in informal correspondence and was not included in her complaint. Sampson vehemently denies saying this. Two investigations into her grievances were “flawed” because key witnesses were not spoken to and key evidence not looked at.

Last year, a three-month independent investigation did not uphold any of Chelsea forward Aluko’s complaints and cleared Sampson and the FA of any wrongdoing.

“If anybody, God forbid, was going through something difficult in the team right now, would they speak out? Judging on what’s happened to me over the last few weeks? I don’t think they would.

Eniola Aluko

On Monday, the FA strongly denied Aluko’s claims, insisting the timing of her being dropped was purely coincidental and that all evidence given to the review remained confidential and anonymous.

It also pointed out that Aluko, 30, herself failed to co-operate with the independent investigation, and another witness withdrew from the process.

When asked by the BBC why she refused to participate with the investigation, Aluko said: “I couldn’t take it seriously. I knew they hadn’t spoken to key people.”

Last week, the governing body published a summary of the report’s findings, in the form of a letter sent to Aluko, written by the barrister who conducted the review.

“I do not consider Mark Sampson held a longstanding negative bias against you based on negative racial stereotypes,” it said. “Nor do I consider he subjected you to a course of bullying or belittling behaviour.”

But it added there were a “number of areas where certain matters could have been handled better” and cited poor communication.

Sampson said he would be looking to improve his “general communication style”, as suggested by the report.

Sampson, 34, is arguably England’s most successful boss, guiding the Lionesses to the semi-finals of both the 2015 World Cup and Euro 2017.

The background Chelsea’s Aluko has scored 33 international goals

Aluko says she made her complaint of “bullying, harassment and discrimination” in May 2016 having been asked to participate in a cultural review of all England teams by the FA’s technical director Dan Ashworth.

Two investigations then took place.

Aluko – a qualified lawyer – claimed that during a meeting in 2015, Sampson made a “highly inappropriate remark” with “derogatory, racial and prejudicial connotations” to an unnamed player, asking how many times she had been arrested because she was of mixed race. However, the independent review found no evidence to support that allegation and a video of the meeting did not show the comment being said.

Aluko now claims the player has confirmed in writing that the incident happened, but the FA “chose not to speak to the player herself which I think is astonishing”. The FA countered that Aluko has refused to name the player.

In her original complaint, Aluko said the decision to drop her from the squad was “retaliatory action” for the concerns she raised.

However, the review concluded she had not been singled out.

Aluko – who has not been selected for England since making her complaint – reached a settlement with the FA, receiving around £80,000. The FA say this was to avoid the threat of an employment tribunal disrupting the squad’s preparations for Euro 2017, rather than an attempt to avoid disclosure, and have insisted that Aluko was free to discuss the facts of the case.

‘Dangerous if players feel they can’t speak out’

However, Aluko says she is speaking out now because “there are a lot of half-truths out in the public and it’s in the public interest to understand the severity of this case and that this isn’t something that I decided to fabricate out of the blue”.

She added: “It wasn’t a bitter, impassioned revenge at the England manager. This was something I was asked to do. I was asked to be part of this confidential exercise.”

Aluko also believes her experience may have deterred other players from raising concerns in the future.

“If anybody, God forbid, was going through something difficult in the team right now, would they speak out? Judging on what’s happened to me over the past few weeks, I don’t think they would,” she said.

“That is the most damaging thing about this because if you think of a young player, for instance, who wants to play for England in the future – let’s say a young black player – she’s going to look at this and go: ‘If anything ever happens to me, what happened to Eni Aluko? I can’t say anything.’ That to me is the most heart-breaking thing.

“I do not think players are going to feel confident sharing grievances with the FA again. That’s dangerous, if players feel like they cannot speak out about certain things.”

Sampson to ‘improve communication style”FA has bigger questions over Aluko’Sampson cleared after ‘bullying’ claim’Bullying’ culture

Aloku told the BBC that, under Sampson’s management, “things have happened to me and been said to me with the intention to undermine me as a senior player, with the intention to make me feel small and belittled in front of my team-mates”.

She added: “I felt that there were pointed instances where certain things were said about me in a derogatory way which were intended to undermine my position in the team or intended to undermine my character or create a perception in the team that gave people the impression of me that was negative.”

Aluko describes a team meeting in which Sampson called her “a pain in the arse” after she had scored a hat-trick.

When asked if that was not merely an example of harmless banter, Aluko said: “I think it’s malicious because I don’t remember anybody else who scored a hat-trick being called a ‘pain in the arse’. This is why I allege it is bullying because I go back to the definition that it is targeted behaviour towards one individual.”

When asked to describe the effect this had on her, Aluko said: “I was so anxious all the time. I withdrew.”

When asked what should now happen to Sampson, she said: “What I am concerned about is, whoever the manager is, not being able to deal with a culture which I believe is bullying, which has bullied certain individuals – particularly me in my case – racial slurs at players, victimisation as a result of a player, me, reporting discrimination.”

‘I’ve suffered a huge detriment’ Aluko’s omission from the Women’s Euro 2017 squad was the first time in 12 years she had not been selected by England for a major tournament

Aluko says she is concerned by the timing and reasons behind Sampson’s decision to drop her from the England squad, despite her being the top goalscorer in last season’s Women’s Super League.

“I can only state the facts, and the fact is a week before I was dropped from the England team for the first time in 11 years I had given my account of what I felt was discrimination towards me, what I felt was a bullying culture and what I felt was a pattern of behaviour towards me that other individuals had not been through in the team,” she said.

“I’ve suffered a huge detriment. I am only 30 years old. I was planning on playing for England for another four years. So, whichever way you look at it, being a part of that cultural review has potentially cost me my England career.”

When asked if it is possible that Sampson simply dropped her in good faith, Aluko replied: “I can’t answer that question, I’m not Mark Sampson, but it’s possible, yes.

“But, I would say, if that is the case and if you’re saying to somebody ‘you’ve shown bad behaviour and I’m dropping you for that reason’ – and that’s a legitimate reason – I would expect better examples than ‘you looked withdrawn in a meeting’.

“If you accuse somebody of bad behaviour, you need to come up with better – and, to this day, I haven’t been given any examples.”

Mark Sampson led England to the semi-finals of Women’s Euro 2017 after they finished third at the World Cup in 2015’I laughed because I was in shock’

Aluko has now spoken publicly about her allegation that she was subjected to a “racist comment” by Sampson before a match against Germany in 2014 that left her “intimidated and shocked”.

“I found myself next to Mark Sampson and he asked me which family members were coming,” she said.

“I said: ‘I’ve got family coming in from Nigeria.’ And he said: ‘Make sure they don’t come over with Ebola.’ I laughed because I was in shock. I didn’t know what to say.

“Now I’ve been part of many dressing rooms. I’m used to industrial language, used to a bit of banter, a bit of a joke – but that was about my family.

“That comment could have been said to anybody. I believe it was said to me because I am of African descent and my family is coming over from Nigeria at the time.”

When asked if she felt it was a racist comment, Aluko said: “Yes, I believe it was and again I go back to the definition. I believe it was an unfavourable comment made to me that made me feel completely shocked and intimidated that was said to me because I’m of African descent.”

Sampson vehemently denies saying this.

Aluko says she did not include the allegation in her formal complaint – nor a text message she says she sent to a team-mate referencing the incident in 2015 – because she could not prove it. However, she insists the FA was subsequently made aware of the claim.

The FA accepts the allegation was included in general correspondence from players’ representative body the Professional Footballers’ Association prior to the formal complaint, but it was not raised as a formal allegation. Had it been, the FA says, it would have been investigated with the same level of independent scrutiny as other claims.

‘Sugar-coating culture’

Aluko says she believes her sport has been too slow to address the issue of racism.

“The problem with women’s football is that for so many years we have tried to really give it good press, and talk positively about it,” she said.

“But the problem with that is that there becomes a sugar-coating culture where you don’t talk about what is actually going on.

“I think because women’s football has strived so long to have a positive perception in the media, they shy away from dealing with some of the things that go on.

“We need to deal with it because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else again.

“So out of this that’s what I hope would happen – better transparency and a better realisation that this might happen again, and when it happens again it needs be dealt with in a better way that it has been dealt with in my case.”

“Onazi was on the verge of transfer to England, but there were some issues so the transfer is off at the moment. It’ll be all clear tomorrow. Let’s see what happens. If a move to Birmingham doesn’t materialise, then he’ll start working with us again.” He said

SportsI Would Never Label Mayweather As Ape, He’s A Rat!-Conor Mcgregor by david7777(op): 1:22pm On Aug 14, 2017
Earlier this week, Floyd Mayweather stated to the media that was upset over Conor McGregor labeling him as a “monkey” and a “monkeys” remark that the UFC star made on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Mayweather said he was going to batter McGregor for “black people” all over the world.

“I just thought about all our different leaders. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X. They went on the front line for me and my family and all my loved ones. Like I said before, this stuff still goes on. But I’m strong, I’m smart, patient. And come Aug. 26, I’ll be the same person — smart, strong, patient. And the same way he called us monkeys, we’re gonna see if he say that August 26,” Mayweather told Stephen A. Smith. “But this is for a cause. This is for the American people. This is for all the blacks around the world.”

According to McGregor, Mayweather is spinning his words and trying to create a false issue.

McGregor will make his professional boxing debut against Mayweather on August 26th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The contest takes place at the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds, and this week the Nevada State Athletic Commission will rule on whether or not the two fighters are able to use 8-ounce gloves for their showdown.

“First of all, never once in my life have I labeled him a monkey or any African-American or anyone a monkey. I would not disrespect any race like that.” McGregor said to MMA Fighting.

“That Jimmy Kimmel interview, (Guillermo Rodriguez) asked me (if I) would beat Rocky. I said ‘What Rocky?’ And he said ‘Rocky III.’ And I said ‘Is that the one with the gym and the circus and the monkeys?’ Because (Rocky) had a specialized gym built where the gym was like a circus. There were clowns and all this type of stuff. That’s what I meant by that. And then (Mayweather) tried to manipulate it.”

“If I was to label him after any animal, it would be the rat. I wouldn’t even label him after the great ape. He is a f***ing rat and a weasel because that’s a rat and a weasel do — they try to manipulate words and create something that’s not there. Ask (Leonard) Ellerbe. Ask Floyd (Mayweather) Sr. They know. It’s a weak move on (Mayweather’s) part to even try to instigate something so sensitive. But that’s the individual he is — he’s a man who beats his wife in front of his kids.”

SportsDembele Suspended By Club ‘until Further Notice’ by david7777(op): 9:40am On Aug 14, 2017
Borussia Dortmund have suspended forward Ousmane Dembele “until further notice”, three days after the club rejected a bid from Barcelona.

The 20-year-old France international was fined and suspended until Monday for missing Thursday’s training, but the ban has been extended indefinitely.

Dortmund met with Barcelona’s representatives but the Spanish club did not meet their valuation.

The German club say that Dembele moving to Barca is “not currently likely”.

Dortmund director of football Michael Zorc said: “Our focus now is on preparation for the Bundesliga opening match in Wolfsburg [on 19 August]. Dembele, of course, has the opportunity to complete an individual training session outside the group.”

Dortmund signed Dembele on a five-year deal from Rennes in May 2016.

SportsTottenham Players Applauded Danny Rose After Explosive Interview, Club Fines Him by david7777(op): 10:38am On Aug 11, 2017
DANNY ROSE got a hero’s welcome from a mutinous Tottenham dressing room following his explosive SunSport interview.

The full-back was fined two weeks’ wages and apologised to for the timing of his comments.

But it is understood Rose was applauded by colleagues at the training ground with others threatening to speak out over concerns at Tottenham being left behind by their rivals.

Rose’s outspoken interview — in which he urged Spurs to buy two or three world-class players and admitted he would be open for offers to leave — rocked the football world yesterday.

Chairman Daniel Levy could now be willing to off-load the Chelsea and Manchester United target — but not for less than the £50million Manchester City paid for Kyle Walker.

Chelsea want Rose — as SunSport revealed on Wednesday — and are more likely than United to make a bid before the window shuts on August 31.

Rose, 27, plans to play for a northern club before he retires but it is understood he would not rule out a move to the champs.

United favour a part-exchange deal involving Luke Shaw, 22, who played under Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton.

But the Spurs boss is uncertain about the left-back’s fitness after his injury problems.

Poch has not confronted Rose over his claims.

But director of football operations Rebecca Caplehorn hauled the England star in to tell him he would be docked two weeks’ wages, around £130,000, for giving an interview without the club’s permission.

Rose is expected to contest the size of the fine

SportsRogers Cup: Shock As Rafael Nadal Gets Knocked Out By Roger Federer by david7777(op): 9:54am On Aug 11, 2017
Rafael Nadal fell to a shock defeat by 18-year-old Canadian Denis Shapovalov at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

Wildcard Shapovalov came from a set down to beat top seed Nadal 3-6 6-4 7-6 (6-4) and become the youngest player to reach a Masters 1000 quarter-final.

Nadal’s loss means Andy Murray remains world number one, but only until next week’s Cincinnati Masters, where Nadal or Roger Federer will replace him.

Federer also progressed to the last eight, with victory over David Ferrer.

The Swiss world number three, 36, came from a set behind to beat the Spaniard 4-6 6-4 6-2 and next faces Roberto Bautista Agut, also of Spain, who defeated Frenchman Gael Monfils 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (6-2).

World number 143 Shapovalov, the 2016 Wimbledon junior champion, plays 29-year-old Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.

In the other quarter-finals, Germany’s Alexander Zverev, who beat Australian Nick Kyrgios 6-4 6-3, will play South African Kevin Anderson, who saw off American Sam Querrey 6-4 6-1 in the last 16.

And Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman will face Robin Haase of the Netherlands. Haase beat Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 (6-3) 4-6 6-1, while Schwartzman defeated American Jared Donaldson 0-6 7-5 7-5.

SportsFloyd Requests To Use More Punishing 8oz Gloves In Fight Against Conor Mcgregor by david7777(op): 9:22am On Aug 11, 2017
Floyd Mayweather has formally requested to use 8oz gloves when he fights Conor McGregor in Las Vegas on 26 August.

The former five-weight world champion submitted a necessary waiver to the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) on Wednesday, hours before the deadline.

The NAC, which sanctioned the bout, told BBC Sport it expected to receive a request from McGregor on Wednesday.

NAC rules state fights at 154 lbs require 10oz gloves and the matter will now be debated on 16 August.

Lighter gloves offer less cushioning for the hands but theoretically lead to punches being more punishing.

Last week Mayweather posted an Instagram message stating: “I’ll be wearing 8oz Grant gloves.”

But the undefeated fighter – who will come out of retirement for the bout – had not submitted a necessary waiver document at that stage. Instead, his team had asked the authorities what the process of using lighter gloves entailed.

At the time, NAC executive director Bob Bennett told BBC Sport he had never seen a move to 8oz gloves at 154lbs before.

Rules state that 10oz gloves are used from 135lbs upwards but bouts between 135lbs and 147lbs can use 8oz gloves if waivers are signed and the NAC feels the move is justified.

“Even if they are both in agreement, our number one policy is the health and safety of the fighters,” said Bennett. “To deviate from our regulations at a difference of 7lbs would be for the chairman and commissioners to determine.”

During his UFC career, McGregor has used 4oz gloves and he welcomed Mayweather’s Instagram post last week, stating: “I am coming sprinting at you with bricks. Know that. Brittle hands.”

The NAC will debate the matter publicly before announcing its decision.

SportsConte Cast Doubt On Chelsea’s Title Defense by david7777(op): 9:13am On Aug 11, 2017
Antonio Conte summed up a frustrating close season at Stamford Bridge when he cast doubt on Chelsea’s ability to defend the Premier League title unless the champions find a quick solution to their transfer woes.

Crowned kings of England just three months ago, Conte’s side open their campaign at home to Burnley on Saturday arguably in worse shape than when they paraded the Premier League trophy in front of their jubilant fans in May.

Since then, Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matic has been sold to Manchester United and Spain striker Diego Costa has been told he has no future at the club following his text message feud with Conte.

John Terry’s influence in the dressing room has gone following the veteran defender’s move to second-tier Aston Villa, while the squad has been further depleted by the loss of a number of fringe players including Nathan Ake and Kurt Zouma.

In their place have come Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, Roma defender Antonio Rudiger and Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

But Conte, angered by Chelsea’s failure to land top targets Romelu Lukaku and Alex Sandro, has made it clear he expected more.

Defeat to Arsenal on penalties in last weekend’s Community Shield means nothing when it comes to the league campaign, but it did little to ease the sense that, while their main rivals are all stronger, Chelsea are in danger of being left behind.

Conte has already spoke of the need to avoid a “Mourinho season”, a reference to the dismal campaign under the former manager that followed Chelsea’s last title triumph in 2015.

And when asked this week whether it would difficult to hold onto their crown without more signings, he said: “Yes very hard. For sure. This league is not easy. You have to fight against other teams.

“This league is different to other countries, where you’ll find two teams to fight; here, you have six teams which are very strong. You must be prepared to fight very hard.”

REINFORCEMENTS

It doesn’t help Conte’s mood that France international Bakayoko is currently out with a knee injury following Matic’s exit.

“Bakayoko is a good signing for us. He is very young. My idea was to give Bakayoko the right time to adapt in this league behind Matic,” Conte said.

“But now after the sale of Matic, we need to try to accelerate this process for Bakayoko after his injury.

“We have Cesc Fabregas and we are trying to find another midfielder. Because now we have only three midfielders and we need another midfielder.”

Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater figure on Conte’s midfield wanted list, with the manager also targeting reinforcements in defence and attack.

Meanwhile, Burnley manager Sean Dyche admits he will have to try to keep the club in the Premier League on a tight budget once again.

The Clarets have just sold Andre Gray to Watford for £18 million to rob Dyche of his key striker on the eve of the new campaign.

Gray had a year left on his contract, but Burnley were not prepared to break their pay structure to meet the 26-year-old’s wage demands.

Some of Burnley’s relegation rivals have heavily invested on new players, with Dyche working under more restrained parameters.

“Andre had a year left on the contract, it is a normal football business. Nobody wants to lose their best players,” Dyche said.

“We are not the market leaders financially so it’s tough. How far do you go with what they are asking for? It’s a reality of where the club is at.”

SportsTottenham Defender Danny Rose Wants To Leave Club Because Of Lack Of Trophies by david7777(op): 10:50am On Aug 10, 2017
Tottenham defender Danny Rose has admitted time is running out for him to win trophies and said he wants to “play up north” in the future.

The England international, who has four seasons remaining on the five-year deal he signed last summer, has been linked with moves to Inter Milan and Manchester United this summer.

Kyle Walker – with whom Rose shares an agent – left Tottenham for Manchester City in a £50m deal which saw the 27-year-old become the most expensive defender in world football.

And Rose, who says he will not demand a move away from White Hart Lane, admits he would have no hesitation speaking to Tottenham’s hierarchy if an offer was on the table allowing him a chance to fulfil his ambitions.

“I am reaching my peak and have probably only got one big contract left in me,” the Doncaster-born left-back told The Sun.

“Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don’t want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal. Sorry, that’s not what I am about. I wouldn’t be happy with that. I want to win something.

“I will say this too, I will play up north. I don’t know exactly when but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere. I have been away for over 10 years now and I don’t get to see my mum that often.

“I’m not saying I want out, but if something came to me that was concrete, I’d have no qualms about voicing my opinions to anyone at the club.”

Rose revealed he hopes Spurs make a couple of signings – “not players you have to Google and say, ‘Who’s that?’ I mean well-known players” – and called Walker’s departure “a big blow”.

The defender also expects a pay rise when he negotiates his next contract.

He said: “I know my worth and I will make sure I get what I am worth. I am not playing as well as I have done not to get paid what I think I am worth. In any walk of life, if you think you are worth a certain amount, why settle for less? I am not that person.”
