If you are really an enemy of USA, then you want TrUmp as president. He would end up isolating USA. Even EU would soon start considering another option than the almighty dollar.

Think long term effect. Of cause he would level Gaza now but what about 10 years from now?
I won't be shocked if he leaves NATO.

This should be an example to the govt and the rest of Nigerians how an industry can grow when there is little involvement from the govt. Can you imagine how the entertainment industry will be today if the govt determined the number of music producers and movie directors or determind the content they could produce. This is called creative freedom.

PoliticsRe: Repair Works Responsible For Thursday’s National Grid Collapse — TCN by davidif: 6:46pm On Nov 08, 2024
You can't solve a problem with the same kind of thinking that caused it in the first place. You need to think differently. Consistently thinking that a centralized power grid will solve Nigeria's power problems is wishful thinking. Just leave power generation to the states for goodness sakes. Its easy for one power grid to fail but not easy for all power grids in all 36 states to fail all at once.

Monopolies are not good, but Nigeria doesn't have a refinery monopoly. According to all data, Nigeria has a refinery capacity of 1.5 million barrels daily. NNPCL 450k, BUA Group 200k, Dangote 650K and Modular refineries 200K

Nigeria's inflation is due to the short supply of dollars to buy imported goods and services, the high level of foreign debt that costs 60% of national income, and the printing of the Naira, which created an oversupply of the Niara.
What I am saying is that inflation is caused by many things and not always the printing of money. Another thing I am saying is that the Nigerian govt need to get out of the oil refining space and stop dictating who and who can build a refinery in this country and let business determine that for goodness sakes. This country has a large population and it needs more players in the industry to drive down the prices of oil and to bring jobs to the masses.
Also, the fed govt needs to sell those refineries asap. Govts have no business running refineries - there job should be oversight and regulation! Referees should referee the game and players should play the game. Everyone needs to stay in their lane.

Push it to the Supreme Court. By his second year, I expect the GOP to lock the Court and swallow the key with young appointments. This is their chance, they miss it, they have missed it for good.
I don't think you understand how their system works here. The job of the Supreme Court is to interpret the constitution to a court case - in other words to make sure that there is no law passed or any action that one is committing that violates the constitution, not to amend the constitution. An example would be if the house passes a bill to restrict certain rights of the people, someone can file a law suit and take it all the way to the supreme court and say that the bill that the legislature passed violates the 13th amendment of the constitution. That's how the system works. You don't change a constitution by going to the Supreme Court. You change it (or ammend it) by getting 2/3 of the Senate and the House which Trump can't do because his party doesn't have those kind of super majorities in the house and the Senate and the 3/4 of the States. In other words, politically it's almost next to impossible.
Foreign AffairsRe: Putin Says He's Ready To Talk With Trump As He Congratulates Him by davidif: 6:25pm On Nov 08, 2024
Some of the comments on this post are truly disturbing. How can someone root for a Goliath instead of David or a King Ahab instead of Naboth? How can a man wake up one day and decide to take his neighbors property despite having a lot of land himself (Russia is huge) and instead of rooting for the small man who is resisting the bully, there are some folks actively rooting for the big bad bully to succeed. This is just disturbing. Absolutely disturbing.

Putin started the war by preventing a sovereign country like Ukraine from joining NATO.He actually thought he could defeat Ukraine in 1 week.
Had it been there was no restriction on the use of Western weapons by Ukraine,Russia would have been a devastating country just as Ukraine.
If only they had not slow walked arming Ukraine, Ukraine might have been victorious. I remember Zelensky constantly asking the West for more weapons and what they would say is they don't want to anger Russia. Now that the Russians are completely dug in, they want to now start providing the Ukrainians with all they need sad. Either way, i hope everything gets delivered quickly to the Ukrainians, these delays are annoying.

Putin is another garbage of a person who need to be removed from his position. So long as he is there, the world peace is still under pressure.

Putin is not fighting the west because he cares for the world, he is simply fighting for the restoration of the defunct Sovereign Union which will never happen.

He sees Trump as a soft guy that can easily be manipulated since he doesn't believe in due process and hardly take advice.
Putin fancies himself to be like Peter the Great, the man who expanded the Russian empire.

Inflation is linked to the oversupply of the Naira; more Naira were chasing fewer products due to the Buhari government's Ways and means of printing money.

The high level of foreign borrowing witnessed Nigeria's debt profile peaking at $110.
Yes, printing money is one way of creating inflation but monopolies are also another way. Monopolies are so counter productive in many ways and one of them is if you have only one player in an industry, they can set prices to whatever they want but if there is competition then they will be competing with other players for market share afterall consumers tend to want things at good quality and reasonable prices.
Also, the more players you have in the market, the more people they hire and the more they reduce unemployment. This Is one of the major problems with the Nigerian economy. If the govt didn't decide who and who should be a player in the economy (through bribes and other nefarious means) then boy oh boy will the Nigerian economy be soaring right now. The fact that they can't connect their bad policies with the high levels of unemployment we have now is astonishing.

Here's some information about Nigeria's cement industry:
Major players
The three largest cement producers in Nigeria are Dangote Cement, BUA Cement, and Lafarge Nigeria:
Dangote Cement: The largest cement producer in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa, with 60% of the domestic market share
BUA Cement: Second largest, with 20.4% of the domestic market share
Lafarge Nigeria: Part of the Holcim Group, with 19.5% of the domestic market share
New player New $1.5bn Mangal cement plant launches in Kogi
With a production capacity of 200 trucks of cement daily, the facility is expected to create 10,000 direct jobs and numerous indirect employment opportunities
There should be way more than this 3 cement producers in the country especially for a country of 230 million. This is why there is so much inflation in this country smh.

.. Importation depreciates and devalues the naira...if we want to appreciate the naira and make it have value against the dollars..the Importation of fuel should stop...and we can produce this fuel locally...they are some private modular refineries owners in Nigeria that told federal government that they are ready to refine and produce fuel that the federal government and NNPC should supply them crude oil but till now federal government has not done that ..so with this if crude oil is supplyed to them it will create competition with Dangote refinery bring the price down and also appreciate the naira and make it have value against the dollars
Oil-Exporting Countries Still Import Fuel

Documents presented to the court also show that many oil-producing nations with far larger production and refining capacities than Dangote continue to import petroleum.

The United States, for instance, imported 8.51 million barrels per day (b/d) of refined petroleum products from 86 countries in 2023, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Another example is Saudi Arabia, which, despite being one of the world’s largest oil producers with a total daily refining capacity of 2.9 million b/d, also imports and stores refined petroleum products to ensure energy security.

“Saudi Arabia, with five refineries and a refining capacity of 2.9 million b/d, still imports and stores refined products as part of its energy security strategy,” Abiodun pointed out.

Similarly, other major oil-producing countries—including the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman—also import and store petroleum products for energy security.

Abiodun concluded by arguing that allowing Dangote Refinery to be the sole supplier of refined petroleum products in Nigeria would make it a monopolist in the petroleum sector, a critical industry for Nigeria’s economy and energy security.

“No country in the world has developed or will ever develop by encouraging monopoly in any of its key economic sectors,” he emphasized.

Illegal itself does not neccessary mean you come through land border. You can fly into the country on legal B2 visa, then overstay your visa, that makes you illegal in the sense.

Most of the Nigerians they deport from USA, do you think they entered USA illegally?

monopolies are truly the bane of our economic system. They keep prices high for goods and services by preventing competition and they are anti-unemployment because the more firms you have in an industry, the more jobs are created.
