Hello Nairalanders. Plz pardon my errors. Moderators please help with advice from pple

I'm a 27 while my boyfriend is 34,we've only dated for 7 months and he proposed to me last week. But the problem is that we are 2 different people, what he want is different from what I want.

He is from a rich family that likes flashing things, he always tell me to use make up when I say make up it not just foundation and lipstick every time am going out which I don't like at all I prefer using powder and lipstick and I use to tell him that I don't know how to do make ups yet he said he will get me a make ups artist. I don't know how am going to cope with that. Anytime we are going to see his family member or friends, he will always want me to over dress like it's a wedding day.

He likes going party a lot and anytime he ask me I will make up some excuse not to go and I don't know how long I will continue giving him excuse cos am an indoor person i don't like going out at all I only go out whenever am an having important things, there was a time he discovered and accused me of been ashamed of him that why I hate going out with him and its not like that.
He likes people prying into our privacy anytime we had a misunderstanding he will ask one of his friends to beg me on his behalf and I hate this.

He always want me to wear clothes that fit his standard like wearing heavy jewelries expensive one ,high heels,(he use to buy them for me cos his a rich dude ) he want a luxurious life while I only want a simple life. He can do anything to mk me look good and classy, he is always ready to spend for that.

My problem is do you think I can adapt to his lifestyle when we get married as I like being simple. Am scared.
Ask yourself this question,if he didn't have money will you still be with him? That should make your answer easier. Take the money out of the equation and ask yourself can I live with this guy for the next 70 years or so of my life. That should make your answer easier.

Na wa for you ooo! Can you see the kind of advice you are giving a 27 years old lady, who obviously needs improvement in her dressing life. And you are calling pple kids. I think this is d result of reading too much PERFECT-WORLD books. THE World is not perfect, deal with it.

It is easier to dish out some perfect-world ideas because you are a guy. When you see women in their 30s praying for come-as-you-are-guys, you will think twice. They are ready to foot the bills, pay for d welding, improve the guy's status, yet none is forthcoming.

There is nothing shameful or dehumanizing in making few adjustments here and there. Besides, you were born plain. Your present state now is as a result of adjustments. Love is first a sacrifice b4 anything else. If someone is finding it repulsive to shift ground because s/he has RIGHTS (and whatever name you pple call it), especially on libral things, it raises the question if there was love at all.

Baba this girl no get money, you still wnt menopause to visit her because of pompous ideas that are spread around by perfect-world books.
Dude, it's not about getting married. It's about staying married. It's about being happy and living in harmony with each other. As you can see this couple do not fit. They are fundamentally different and have no business been with each other. They don't even seem to share the same values in the first place and you are saying she should just marry him because he is not Mr. Perfect. No one is asking for the perfect guy what they are asking is for people with shared values and common pronciples.
Bros, one thing you should learn in life is that you shouldn't try to fit a square peg in a round hole. If it doesn't fit it doesn't fit. Stop trying to force it. Forcing things will only lead to frustration, time wasted and deformation (damage) of both entities because marriage is a lifetime thing and it's easier to get in than it is to get out. Don't be foolish like those people who went after the money and got trapped. It is not worth it.

It seems as if he is the shallow type and is just looking for a trophy wife: someone he can show off to his friends for his ego kind of like how you show off a new car. I will encourage you to pray about it because it looks like both of you are not compatible at all. Both of You are like oil and water.
From what you wrote its like your personalities don't even seem match in the first place. Its up to you to figure out if this (personality differences) is very important to you before you proceed further in the relationship and you guys hurt each other. Don't mind this Nigerians who think it's all bout money. You gotta think about your longtime happiness cos marriage is a lifetime contract.

Fair enough - Pure thievery. Your solution however leaves room for us to be raped yet again. That's a colonialist mindset which we should endeavor to eradicate. Only we can help ourselves.
Wrong! It's unfounded fears like this that consistently allows lawmakers to keep making bad decisions when it comes to privatizing. They keep selling the same assets to the same elites all because of the fear of outsiders. Why not open the door for more players and competitors instead of constantly creating monopolies that make things worse for the consumer or citizens in this case.
I welcome competition especially from ethical investors who don't have lawsuits or pending investigations against them over corrupt local elites.

Just a case of mismanagement. Equinor (formerly Statoil) was mostly owned by the Norwegian government. So is ARAMCO. We just dont know how to hold people accountable. They will only sell it to themselves and screw things up even further.
Just a case of mismanagement? Are you kidding me?? How about pure thievery? That would be the start of the mess that is the Nigerian Govts involvement in oil and gas. I will prefer our oil business to be in the hands of foreign profit driven capitalist who know how to maximize efficiency and eliminate waste than a pathetic govt that has proven time and again that it does not know how to put the right people in the place to get the job done.

Sell them off to.... who? Multinationals so that our common wealth as a nation will end up in the hands of foreigners? Or to only Nigerian business men who do not yet have the Capacity to delve into such ventures. How many of our financial institutions have the capacity to fund huge Capital Oil and Gas projects?
Sell them off to anyone who can afford it and who has a history of ethical business practices irrespective of their race or nationality. Anything is better than this govt. Besides, there is nothing wrong with direct foreign investments coming into the country, any smart business man knows we need all the foreign capital we can get.

Stop Monthly allocation and you think you can live in your house peacefully.
Well you can't keep doing the same thing over and over and again and keep expecting different results. I believe that's called insanity. If you want to go on and keep the same structures and policies that have failed and held Nigeria back for decades just don't come and complain to us that things are not changing cos in other to have real change you need a new approach and new way of thinking afterall you can't solve a problem with the same way of thinking that caused it in the first place.

Where do you think the monthly allocation that goes to the state government come from?

The fact is Nigeria is not ready to practice true federalism. But that is a different topic of discuss.

This MOU signed is for the benefit of Nigerians.
And therein lies the main problem of Nigeria; allocations. When you give someone money that they didn't work for they are most likely to mismanage it and spend it on frivolities but if they worked hard to get the money they are most likely to spend it wisely. What Nigeria has been doing for years has failed. You are giving people free money and you are wondering why they are not spending it wisely. huh
Until you get rid of this nonsense allocation, states and local govts would not have the incentive to succeed and you would keep rewarding bad behavior (stealing etc) and incompetence. Its like giving large sums of money to your child and wondering why they squandered it.

So who oversees the State's equity interests in the Oil and Gas Ventures?
Sell them off. Every last one of them. The govt has no business getting involved in the oil business in the first place. Their job should be to create a stable environment for businesses to thrive in not to be getting involved in ventures that they don't have expertise in. Its about time that you Nigerians learnt that what is good for the state is not necessarily whats good for the Nigerian people.

The state has grown too big and needs to be cut down. Like the saying goes, "pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered." The state has grown so fat while stifling the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the people with (bad policies, bureaucratic redtape etc) and therefore needs to be starved or cut down to size. In other words, the state doesn't need more revenue what it needs is a diet.

Good move.

This will ensure a boost in both Domestic Gas Supply and LPG for export. More revenue for Nigeria.

High demand for Oil and Gas continues to outlive it's predicted lifespan.

In other News, space Bookers how market? This is not your kind of gist. Hahaha
More revenue for the state?? Great!!! When will you Nigerians learn that what is good for the state is not necessarily whats good for the people. Thieves
Finally!!!!

State run corporations are usually a way for the elites to steal money and the nations resources. They should scrap all of them and let anyone who wants to go into the oil business get into it. The more competition the more their is demand for labour (read: jobs) and the more the economy grows. Common sense folks.

Please try and read to the end.
I am a young guy early twenties. I
have been playing virtual since 2014.
I was never this useless and
unpurposeful.
My life changed when i entered university.
It all started in 2014 when i walked
into a nairabet close to my school and
saw people playing virtual. I decided
to play, as i remember i won that
period. I never knew the day i started was the
day i gave the devil the key to my life. In 2014, i spent my school fees on
virtual, lost everything. Sold my
phones, my feeding money and
everything. All went to virtual. So i was not able to continue my
education, though i remained in
school not letting my parents know till
this year. Dear reader, from 2014 to date have
been the worst years of my life. I stole
to play virtual, sold my properties, my
clothes, shoes. I became an addict. Even not being a
formal student, i still collected money from my parents, school fees
and allowance. Everything ends up in
virtual house. I could not even buy good clothes.
Bro, Jesus says come unto me all you who are heavy laden and I will give you rest for your souls.

We really need to scrap the Presidental system we practice and replace it with the parliamentary system of govt to allow for more voices.

The presidential system only seems to guarantee us two credible parties that have a serious chance of winning like the democrats and republicans in the US and APC and PDP in Nigeria that's not going to work for a country as wide and as diverse as Nigeria.

“November 20, 1999. Odi, in Bayelsa State, was invaded on orders of a PDP President. About 2,500 people killed. No national mourning.
“Between February and May, 2000, about 5,000 people were killed during riots over Sharia law in different parts of the North. No national mourning.

It is heart-wrenching to know that the first thing that comes to the mind of someone who finds himself/herself close to an accident scene, or a mishap of any form is to start taking pictures and making videos.

Pictures and videos from the incident at the OtedolaBridge today penetrated all over social-media and news platforms just within a few hours, with different versions of reporting. This threw me into thoughts of how much we Nigerians have degenerated far away from humanity.

What has become of us fellow Nigerians?

Is it a clamour for popularity? Is it an appeal for likes and shares? Is there a bragging right or an award for live reporting from an accident scene? Or just maybe, is there a subtle innermost feeling of joy or satisfaction derived from reporting loss of live and properties directly as it is ongoing?
Please leave the reporting job to the press. Must you be a harbinger of bad news?

I ask you dear Sir or Madam Reporter, is there nothing else you can do to salvage the situation besides running live commentary?
What right do you have to take a video or a photo of people's lives and properties going up in flames?

Did you atleast even try to call the emergency and rescue authorities if that is the least you can do?
In fact, that phone which you are using for your live streaming news service, do you even have the hotlines or emergency numbers of the fire department, police, emergency search and rescue, ambulance service etc, stored on the phone?

What would have happened if most or all the cars travelling along the other lane had stopped, and brought out their car fire extinguishers. Wouldn't it have helped no matter how small, someone probably may have been saved, just one life atleast, or maybe even 1% of the fire may have been extinguished before the arrival of the fire fighters.

Let's now assume someone else called the emergency services, let's assume there is nothing you could do, atleast that is the deceit conviction you have given yourself, does this still justify you to start taking pictures?

You may ask, what then can I do?

Here is your answer.....Cry!!!!
Raise your voice and Cry!!!! Weep my dear brother and Sister.... Scream on top of your voice and weep until you run out of tears...

Weep because that cry you hear in the fire maybe the voice of the breadwinner of an entire family...

Cry because that cry in the fire may be the voice of the only graduate a family has ever produced, or it may be the voice of the only successful business man/woman who is the light of a family..

Scream because that smell of people burning in the fire maybe a group of students returning to their already awaiting family, or a spouse joyfully returning to the arms of his/her loved one after a stressful day.

Weep because while other people battle with maintenance of life quality, we are still battling with low live expectancy rates in Nigeria.

Cry because, just about anything, Anything is a threat to the life of a Nigerian.

Most of all, Hit your chest and weep for Nigeria...
Weep because most of the reasons why thousands of lives are lost in Nigeria, is not even a threat to the life of a stray animal in other countries..

Weep because the people we have entrusted to serve us, fix the potholes on our roads, provide us with alternative routes, provide us with basic amenities, ensure good town planning etc, are now the same people that will fly over our heads in helicopters and jets, while we burn and roast on the roads that are dilapidated and in utermost disaster.

Weep because while an entire force can be reshuffled and interogated for the loss of life of one citizen in some countries, we are conducting mass burials on daily basis here in Nigeria, and no one is held responsible for such impunities.

Fellow Nigerians, let it be clear to us that we are in no way better than those that lost their lives today or have lost their lives in situations like this in the past.
Let it be known to each and every one of us that we are in no way entitled to live even one minute longer than any of those people who lost their lives today.
No sane person goes out of his home with plans of dieing along the way, it is in no way by our power or our might that we are alive. It is strictly by the mercy of God that we are saved, let us therefore not take pleasure in taking pictures and videos from scenes, when people are in pains and anguish.

May the souls of those who lost their lives rest in the bossom of the lord, and may God grant the families the fortitude to bear the loss. Amen

We are humans, we are sensitive to the plight of fellow humans, we are different, We are Nigerians.
God save Nigeria!
Hold up, did this guy just say people should use fire extinguishers to quench a raging inferno?? Is this guy high??
