NairaMaster1:No mind them jare. Russia must be so desperate that they are turning to North Korea, a country much poorer and backward than them. Talk about a marriage of convenience. I can imagine how many North Koreans would use this opportunity to defect. |
IMAliyu:And what message would that send to others? That you can wake up and one day and grab your neighbors territory without consequences? Can you imagine even Benin did that to us or Cameroun? |
Botragelad:Wow! This is turning to a World War. Russia must be really getting desperate. Either way, I hope Pres. Biden provides Ukraine everything they need before they leave office before Trump comes and allows Putin to do whatever he wants. |
Talkisneeded:Like bro, that statement in itself is just staggering! Like how is that even possible? Like where in the world is a football team state owned? can someone tell me? Can you imagine Bayern Munich being run by their State govt? This is why things don't work in this country because almost every sector is state owned. The fact that most Nigerians still don't understand the role and limitations of govt still blows my mind. Like there are some things that govt should do and there are some things they should stay away from. Let me give you an example. During the OBJ administration, the govt told Shell to come help them run their refineries but Shell turned them down. They said NO! they don't want to work with the amateurs and the unqualified people the govt and I don't blame Shell for that. Can you imagine working with govt appointees who you didn't hire and who are not qualified? do you know how frustrating that could be? who is going to take the blame when things don't work out? Shell? the govt? That's the same thing we are dealing with almost every aspect of life in Nigeria. Can you imagine a govt appointee running an oil refinery or a football club? Imagine how horribly run both organizations will be. Nigeria's problem is not only corruption but mismanagement and this one of the examples of mismanagement. Govt needs to learn to stay in there lane for goodness sakes. |
Welcum:How in the world should a whole football club be run by the govt? I can't imagine Barcelona being run by the Catalan govt or Arsenal being run by the city of London. It makes no sense. Man, no one wonder almost nothing works in this country and that's because involves itself in almost everything in the country whether it be soccer teams to hospitals. The govt even gets involved in things that are meant to be in private hands like airlines, farms, oil and gas refineries etc and they wonder why everything in the country is half baked and not prosperous, well golly, I wonder why. The job of the govt is oversight, policy making and regulation. In other words, the job of the govt is to be a referee or umpire and NOT a player in the game. There are things that govt are good at and there are some things they should stay out of simply because they don't have the expertise in it smh. |
Germi9:Uhm! she better if she wants to remain politically relevant and not fade into obscurity. I doubt she wants to run for the Senate again. Also, the Governorship is a good consolation prize and should not be seen as a poor alternative to the presidency but as a stepping stone to the presidency. |
Salvation2:Not in this country where I live. Fed cases are different from State cases. The State cases are expected to proceed even if the Federal cases are dropped. |
Aisheart:My goodness! can't the NFF make sure that everyone who has ever represented us at the international level be given the funds to gain the coaching badges so that they can at least earn a living. That's the least we should be able to do for them for what they did for us in their prime. |
Germi9:The Governor's job in her state (California) should open soon, she should throw her hat in the ring. That should keep her relevant instead of fading into obscurity. |
Illusioneffect:Because it's in the constitution. That's how it's done in this country. You don't have a choice. |
musicwriter:The law is too confusing. It's like you are trying to mesh two systems together at once and it doesn't seem well thought out. For example, does it say what should happen if a candidate fails to win 2/3 of the country and what the backup plan should be? Also, what i said is the American system is about the number of states you win and not the number of people who vote for you. |

Kamala should go and run for Governor of her state, California since the current Governor's term is going to be over soon. This way she can keep herself in the national conversation but the downside is will the rest of the country accept a California politician (they are seen as too liberal to the rest of the country) as the leader of the country. |
Douglad:It was brutal. I mean his party even took the Senate and they will probably win the House so it should be easy to pass his policies through Congress like extending his tax cuts etc but it should be an interesting few years. |
God1000:Bwahahaha, yeah riiiight. Good luck with that. |
Salvation2:Bros, the Federal cases will disappear because as the President of the country, he is in charge of the federal branch but what of the State cases like the New York and the Georgia cases? |
deji17:Seperation of powers ko, seperation of powers ni. |
SmartPolician:Congress wo? when his party the Republicans have won the Senate and are most like going to take the House. |
Gerrard59:Uhm, diamonds had been discovered in Botswana before the British left and yes the British created the University of Ibadan and UNN in Nigeria before they also left. What happened in Botswana was the level-headed decision-making of their first President who decided to make the right decision to keep foreigners and import them instead of expelling them to appease the electorate. This is the main reason why this country is so messy. We have uneducated leaders making uninformed decisions for the rest of us that lead the country to ruin and we blame it on the West. In Nigeria's history, we have only had two Presidents with a bachelor's degree while Botswana has had all their leaders with not only degrees but advanced degrees like law. That makes a big difference in policy and governance. |
fitinwell:Were we were giving independence too early? I am not sure but Botswana managed there post independence well. When they became independent, there leader resisted the urge to kick out the British immediately because the country had almost no university graduates but they kept the British civil servants and even imported more foreigners for several more years until there were enough Botswanan's educated enough to take over and this is one of the main reasons why that country is still well run today. |
lovediehatelive:I think I might like there system more because it mostly focuses on winning the most number of states, not the most number of voters. That's the way it should be to me because it forces candidates to focus on even the small states during elections as opposed to just the biggest states like New York etc. I would like if we adopted it in Naija as it should hopefully force candidates to focus on even the smaller states like Kebbi and Yobe etc instead of Lagos and co. |
musicwriter:I think I might like it a bit better than ours because in their national elections, its mostly about winning the most number of states and not the most number of voters. That's the way their forefathers established it. This system works in a way in that it forces candidates to focus on even the small states during elections as opposed to just the biggest states like New York etc. I would like if we adopted it in Naija as it should hopefully force candidates to focus on even the smaller states like Kebbi and Yobe etc instead of Lagos and co. |

Sharpsharp00123:Nah! there are better ways to gather intelligence if he was actually an undercover agent. This would just be a waste of time. My brother, most of those things we see in movies are just that - entertainment. Most of those intelligence agencies don't operate like this but it is sooooo difficult for us to get it out of our brains because those movies are so deeply ingrained in our imagination. |
Christlike01:Chai! Naija people. Una don watch too many movies that you can't separate fiction from reality haha. |
APOPTOSIS:hahaha |
Afonjudas:Bros, I believe you have seen too many movies. |
nairalanda1:Every student is different. |
Awesome decision. |
SmartPolician:Honestly, i feel like we should de-centralize power generation in this country. Every state should find their own means of electricity whether its coal or natural gas or Solar. That to me is the best way to solve the electricity problem in Nigeria. Having a centralized system like we have been having for decades is not working well for a country of our size. |
naptu2:Goodness! UK be changing PM's like crazy. To think that i used to be a fan of parliamentary democracy as opposed to a Presidential democracy just a few years ago for how cheap it is (they don't have a Senate, just a House of reps and the prime minister and his cabinet are mostly members of the house of reps or commons as they like to call it) but looking at how unstable it is, i shall stick with my presidential democracy complete with its over expensive Senate and all. The possible benefit of removing an underperforming PM in weeks instead of waiting for 4 years is offset by the atmosphere of political uncertainty it creates. Let me stick with stability abeg. |
naptu2:Gotcha. Not too familiar with UK politics but thanks for the tutorial but whatever happened to the Indian PM? The former hedge fund guy? |
