The problems and friction in the French team are down to a split over one man: Yoann Gourcuff.

Gourcuff comes from a privileged family. He is smart and he is respectful - but he is also still a shy little boy. In his spare time he listens to music, watches films and plays his video game systems. He is, in his own words, a little nerdy.

In a French squad that places more value on how much money you have in your bank account, and what girl is on your arm, Gourcuff doesn't fit.

One incident occurred shortly before the World Cup. Franck Ribery and Sidney Govou had organised a night out at well known gentleman's club in Paris. Several players, including Gourcuff decided to stay home. When Ribery heard about this he immediately confronted Gourcuff and asked 'does your mother not allow you to go, you homosexual slur'

This is one of many incidents.

Ribery is the main instigator in the bullying, however he is far from alone. On the pitch, Gourcuff plays within himself. Scared because he fears the verbal retribution he will receive after the match from his tormentors.

In the squad, Gourcuff can count on only 3 real allies. His best friend Hugo Lloris, his teammate Jeremy Toulalan and elder statesmen Thierry Henry

When Raymond Domonech bowed to player pressure and dropped Gourcuff for France's second group match, that was the catalyst for the situation in which we now find ourselves.

Evra is far from an allie to Gourcuff, he was one of the people that went to Domenech and demanded him to be dropped in favour of Malouda

At least 5 of them played in the CL knockout stage

5 slots is too much for Africa, that gives room for poor countries,

They should take 2 slots from us and give to South America

If FIFA truly wants to make football the beautiful game, it should reduce Africa's slot to 2 or 3. We performed better when we had fewer teams eg, Algeria(1982), even though they didnt make the 2nd round, they defeated European Champions, Germany and would have qualified if not for the Germany-Austria conspiracy; Cameroon(1990), Nigeria(1994). Africa have produced two teams in the last 16 and we have the second highest number of teams together with S/America. I think South American and Asian teams deserve more slots.
Agreed 100%

Cameroon defeated Argentina in the 1990 World Cup
You obviously didnt watch the game. Cameroun outclassed Argentina?

ok lets start Argentina has defeated Nigeria at 3 different world cups, Paraguay beat Nigeria 3-1

ok. so 2 out of 11. is that any indication the africans are totally out of their depth?
How many times have South American teams been outclassed

Dude, answer me this.

Has any of the African teams on show been totally outclassed by their opponents?
Nigeria got outclassed by Argentina, SA was outclassed by Uruguay
Sports › Re: Cameroon Vs. Denmark 1 - 2 Final Score by dayokanu(m): 10:22pm On Jun 19, 2010
my point exactly. so what is the basis for your comparison. i was comparing the africans to teams they have actually met.

all this hullabaloo is premature anyway.

What if Ivory Coast, Ghana, Algeria all qualify for the next round.A very real possibility. With two of those going to the quarters and one going to the semis?

Your analysis is premature is all i'm saying. Did anybody expect all 6 african reps to make it out of the group stages?
They have beaten the teams they faced, At this point all South American team look good.

In 1998 South AMerica produced 5 teams just like Africa.

4 of theirs Paraguay, Chile, Argentina and Brazil made it from the groups while Africa made only 1
In 2002 Only Senegal made it from groups while Brazil, Paraguay etc made it
In 2006 only Ghana made it while Brazil, Argentina etc made it

Argentina a South American team beat Nigeria an African team

How many african teams have the south americans defeated this tourney?
How many African teams have the South Americans met in this tournament?
Sports › Re: Cameroon Vs. Denmark 1 - 2 Final Score by dayokanu(m): 10:05pm On Jun 19, 2010
It irritates me when people cant be objective but plays the race card in every situation.

African teams have won 1 in 11 games which is terrible compare that to South American 5 wins in 7
Sports › Re: Cameroon Vs. Denmark 1 - 2 Final Score by dayokanu(m): 9:54pm On Jun 19, 2010
compare where these african footballers are coming from and be amazed that we're even in among the vastly more fortunate to be in there with a shout. England rented out pretty much a whole small city as their camp. Ghana for instance is sleeping in a hotel. They couldn't even take out an entire floor. That's the difference in resources we're talking about.
Where are the South Americans coming from? Do you know most of them grew up in slums e.g Tevez so whats the excuse.

So renting a who city makes you poor on the field? Do you think Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay are rich countries or what has countries wealth got to do with performance on field
Sports › Re: Cameroon Vs. Denmark 1 - 2 Final Score by dayokanu(m): 9:41pm On Jun 19, 2010
Is it not an injustice that superior South Americans and Africa produce the same number of participants?

When Korea and Japan hosted they performed well

You must be joking. . .
are you comparing slots for europe and africa?
South America has 5 slots and see how they perform?

Uruguay hasnt lost, Brazil hasnt lost, Argentina hasnt lost, Chile hasnt lost same with Paraguay.

South Americans have won 5 out of 7 games while Africa has won 1 out of 11 games
Sports › Re: Cameroon Vs. Denmark 1 - 2 Final Score by dayokanu(m): 9:34pm On Jun 19, 2010
and your point is ?
African football is far behind and 5 slots is too much for us, they should reduce it to 3 and give to the Asians and South Americans who do better
Sports › Re: Cameroon Vs. Denmark 1 - 2 Final Score by dayokanu(m): 9:33pm On Jun 19, 2010
THATS NOT THE POINT. the point is why do they keep gloating and talking about it every second ? dont you see the subtle condescending way they do it and the glee in their voice is palpable when they do it, like i am sure they are cumming as they say it. they get a hardon from putting us down
Why do African teams present them with the opportunity to gloat in the first place with our woeful performances

What are you talking about? How many times have they given indigenous coaches any opportunity. And in the history of the WOrld CUp, the best African teams can show is two quarter finals finishes. And you call that success
At the moment the only time a local coach took us to the world cup, was when we failed to qualify from the group stages
Sports › Re: Cameroon Vs. Denmark 1 - 2 Final Score by dayokanu(m): 9:30pm On Jun 19, 2010
why the commentators always banging on about how african teams are loosing in the world cup. why dont they focus on european teams ? european teams are loosing too now. like italy, france, germany, britain, etc etc.
anyone see any kinda racism here ? why they always talking about africa ? is it because we are the host ? if europe is the host will they still go on and on about how africa hasnt done this or that or bla bla bla   LEAVE AFRICA ALONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
When Europe hosted the world cup, 4 European teams played the semi finals.

Now world cup in Africa out of 11 games only Ghana has won a game and through penalty

African teams WILL NEVER experience success under these white coaches.

ok first off i think you need to go and search for your self esteem. you seem to have lost it dude
What does self esteem have to do with lowering the quality of the competition?

The Worst result at a world cup was Yugoslavia 9 Zaire 0

In France 98 for example of 5 African reps, Morroco lost 3-0, Cameroun lost 3-0, South Africa lost 3-0 Nigeria lost 4-1 and the last rep Tunisia lost all their games.

I am sure you would be one of the supporters of quota system in Nigerian politics since every part of the country needs to be represented fairly and not based on quality.

Would you prefer a player from every state in Nigeria to constitute our National team so that the team looks Nigerian instead of having more players from the South South (Assuming the South-South is better at football than other parts)

Ghana shouldnt play Prince Boateng against Germany because he has a history with Germany and he was the one who injured the German captain
