We would win if we can avoid Mikel and his backpasses

@FBS,

A quote from your favourite goal.com

The midfield was stacked with defensive minded players who always got in each others way. When will we realize that Mikel Obi is not an attack-minded player? Etuhu and Ayila were the only working figures in that midfield, while Mikel was more interested in back-passes and putting pressure on the already weakened defence.

No need for insinuations.

We all saw Tevez was brought in as a late second half sub in most games after Berbasuckass has slumbered all over the field

The amount paid for a player has nothing to do with his goal haul.
No single supporting. striker has outperformed Berbatov in the EPL this season.
The amount paid on a striker has a lot to do with it. No one buys a striker and hail him for blocking shots like Buffon.

You are a retard!
Tevez. . . . . .5 goals + 3 assists in 1859 minutes played in 2008/9 season.
Berbatov. . . .9 goals + 9 assists in 2567 minutes played in 2008/9 season.
How many starts did Tevez have and how many did Berbatov

How much they were bought has nothing to do with the position they play for their teams. . .Rio should be scoring 40 goals per season by your logic
This is insanity. Is Rio a striker? Why not ask Buffon to lead the scorers chart too

Like he did last season when he scored just 5 league goals in 29 appearances as a 2nd striker.
How many games did Tevez start last season or are we going to count all those 85minute sub appearance as part of the 29?

Rooney has always been a second striker but because Berbasuckass is so impotent, Rooney has to play his role and allow him to continue his 2000m per 90minutes stroll Speed = 1.3km/hr, 0.3meters/second

This is a shame

Really, I was more concerned about the lack of fight in the team yesterday when we were 1-2 down.
I have never seen such before.
DK is right
Why are people querying the removal of Mikel.
He did nothing in 79 minutes.
Mikel doesn't play for Coventry, Hull or Plymouth.
He plays for CHELSEA.
No excuses from him, he should be controlling the midfield when he plays for Naija.
That said,Obasi was by far the best player of the night
He was willing to take on the Egyptians and interpreted his role pretty well.
Thank you HNIC. Nigerians would never cease to amaze me. A player who did nothing in 79 minutes and was removed for not being up to the task yet we blame the coach for that.

Essien is a DM and have you seen him play for Ghana? In the last nations cup vs Nigeria after Mensah copped a red card, Essien assumed the CB and DM role and even offered a lot going forward, Thats what we call a CHELSEA player. Not the side pass back pass Mikel.

No one disagrees that the 2 Bundesliga players were the best on the field yesterday. Thank God
Sports › Re: African Nations Cup: Egypt Vs Nigeria - (3-1) by dayokanu(m): 9:28am On Jan 13, 2010
i beg to differ on that, what bloddy coincidence, coincidence only seen by an astute supporter of the Bundesliga, you are not objective enough
Bring out any ranking that wouldnt have Obasi as the best Nigerian player or Zidan as the best Egyptian player.

Those are the only 2 Bundesliga reps on the field.

that doesn't mean he's a liability, does it? come on
Attacking he doesnt do anything, Defensive he doesnt do either. DOes that qualify as an asset to the team?
Sports › Re: Who Are Your Best Five African Footballers Ever? by dayokanu(m): 9:24am On Jan 13, 2010
Its only a Nigerian that would include Okocha. I wonder what he did or achieved to be named as Africas top 5

I can name 20 Africans better than Okocha, even spitting El Hadji Diouf is better(2 time African footballer of the year)

To me

Roger Milla
Weah
Etoo
Abedi Pele
Drogba

All this one wey u dey blow na grammar, Logic and Philosophy!!!!
Goals win u games and not intelligent passes. . . . I rather exchange Tevez's goal for Berba's intelligent passes if its possible
Forget Logic and Philosophy, na black board and Chalk course be that. . . . .at the end of the season,
If Tevez scores more goals, na im go win Golden Boot not Berba. . . so your argument HOLDS NO WATER!!
Na Logic and Philosophy you go dey do, Ferguson go sell the guy. . . . . matter of fact i want him to prove us wrong!
He has failed in Manchester United PERIOD!!

I DON TALK MY OWN!! I no dey for too much talk!!
Simple. A child fails and you keep consoling yourself that he has a fine handwriting.

A car doesnt drive you console yourself it has a good upholstery

A striker fails yet you console yourself he has a good first touch and intelligence. Who cares about Drogbas lack of intelligence or poor touch when he keeps delivering the good
Sports › Re: African Nations Cup: Egypt Vs Nigeria - (3-1) by dayokanu(m): 9:13am On Jan 13, 2010
The problem with our football is that most Nigerians are too sentimental and cant see anything wrong with our heroes
When Okocha was playing in France 98 against Denmark and wasting promising opportunities for selfish reasons most Nigerian analysts wont see it. Rather would blame others.

No one can still tell any meaningful contributions Mikel had in 79 minutes. Mikel played almost 90% of the entire game so what difference did he make while on the field.

Defensively he was a liability, attacking he was a liability. couldnt make attacking moves except his trade mark sideways passes

You are drunk with your hatred for England and any player playing in the EPL so no need arguing with you. You are a nazi and as such wouldn't expect you to be objective
I idolise Essien and Drogba I guess they are not playing in the same EPL Mikel, Aiyegbeni and Yobo play in. You dont need to strain your eyes to see quality.

The best 2 players on the field from both sides are Mohammed Zidan- Dortmund and Chinedu Ogbuke- Hoffenheim. both Bundesliga. Coincidence?
Sports › Re: African Nations Cup: Egypt Vs Nigeria - (3-1) by dayokanu(m): 8:54am On Jan 13, 2010
Removing Mikel is a very good move even if he wasnt replaced,

It might have been better if Mikel copped a red card . His influence on the team was soo negative
Kanu might not be the solution but he is Amodus agemate
Sports › Re: African Nations Cup: Egypt Vs Nigeria - (3-1) by dayokanu(m): 8:46am On Jan 13, 2010
Ha I see, goal.com is better abi or you want stats from soccernet.com? How different are they?
Tell me how Etuhu and Ayila contributed?
Of the 3 DMs we played , Mikel was miles above them. Except  maybe you watched a different match.
He made 3 - 4 super passes that the strikers could not convert. A single change was/is enough to score a goal, abi no be so.
I'm not defending Mikel per say (we all expect more from him), but saying he was the worst player on the pitch is talking crap.
Taiwo IMO should be benched for the next match. His left back position was our weakest point!! Plus no one was there to cover his a.s.s.
Tell me something, The reporter said Mikel didnt perform his duties So what should be done to someone who doesnt perform his duties? Isnt it substitution?

If all the players had hoods on their head and no names on their back everyone would have seen how crappy Mikel was. To some Nigerians who are devoted to hero worship, the name Mikel cant do anythong wrong. If he gives a bad pass we blame the recipient for not anticipating the pass or not thinking at Mikels level. The same problem we had with Jay Jay when he was playing

Of the midfielders Ayila played best, followed by Etuhu. The worst player on the field should be shared by Yakubu, Yobo and Mikel coincidentally all play in EPL.

Taiwo plays like a Roberto Carlos who offer very little in defence and leaves the defence very open but Yobo being the CB and Captain should coordinate one of the midfielders to cover Taiwo's runs

Joe COle should be on the same level with Mikel, Sturridge and Ivanovic

Those meaningless legovers and he wants to get paid megabucks? Better buy Patience Avre. I still saw her in Chicago last year and she is still in form
Sports › Re: African Nations Cup: Egypt Vs Nigeria - (3-1) by dayokanu(m): 8:31am On Jan 13, 2010
An who is kickoff magazine to start with?

John Mikel Obi 6
Did not quite take charge of the offensive midfield position, but still shouldn’t have been subbed.

Doesnt that statement tell you the writer is a retard? Someone whom you wrote didnt do his duties but in the same sentence shouldnt have been removed.

Mikel was on the field for 79 minutes, what positive contribution did he make. Or you believe by some stroke of Haitian Voodoo he would conjure up something in the last 10 minutes aside from his usual backpasses?

The only sensible thing Amodu did yesterday was to remove Mikel.

Mikel was completely clueless for 79 minutes and he was supposed to be the playmaker.

Fom the last Olympics where Siasia dropped Mikel it became obvious that any serious coach wouldnt play Mikel with his backpasses.

Its better to play with 10 players than have Mikel on the field.
Sports › Re: African Nations Cup: Egypt Vs Nigeria - (3-1) by dayokanu(m): 8:04am On Jan 13, 2010
Amodu, Mikel, Yakubu, Kanu, Yobo and those other EPL players are a disgrace.

Mikel is the most overrated player in this country, How can a so called Chelsea player be so mediocre in the team.

I saw Mohammed Kallon in Sierra Leone, Titi Kamara for Guinea, George Weah for Liberia (Not to talk of Drogba and Essien) an thy made a difference in their team.

Yakubu is over 40, You think this is a joke? OK Yakubu officially played for Okomu Oil in 1995 that is 15 years ago and he couldnt have been less than 25 years then, So how old u think say he be now?

Kanus mates are already coaches and grandfathers.

Yobos oversized lips are the cause of his problems.

Ayila, Etuhu dont even exist.

Yussuf Mohammed is an AL QAEDA agent sent to distabilise us. He was more of an Egyptian striker than a Nigerian defender.

Egypt without Barakat, Aboutrika and Amr Zaki took us to school. SMH

Why are GAYYners and EPL fans so uninformed. Rafinha is a Right back and at 5ft 7 should play Arsenal CB position.

Why are EPL fans the most ignorant on earth

This is exactly what I was saying 2 years ago . . . When we gave in to Lamps holding the club to ransom. . Some on here were saying give him what he wants. . Then JT and now of all people Joe Cole. .
The club should stand up to this once and for all if we are really serious about being self-sufficient. No other club except Man-City will pay him over £80,000 a week as far as I know.

He can piss off to Portsmouth if he likes. . £120,000 for all the fancy leg-over . . Unbelievable!.

What is the point of taking Mikel off?

Shouldn't Etuhu or Ayila make way for Kanu??
And whats creative about Mikel?  Backpasses?

Mikel is the most useless Nigerian player
