Given man utd and bayerns performances against barca in recent times its not far fetched to say both clubs would have ended trophyless in any race with either Spanish clubs. Coupled with the strenght in depth of lower La Liga teams that they have always shown in the Europa cup in recent times. The likes of Sevilla, Bilbao, Osasuna are stronger than the likes of Stokes, Mainz, Hertha berlin, Parma, Everton etc. Barca and madrid at home face tougher opposition than what other teams face in their leagues.

When Barca hit Bayern 4-0, It would be stupid of anyone to claim Bayern would have won the La Liga in that season the same season they beat manure with a makeshift defence

The top 5 players in Europe are in those 2 teams, Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta.
