Each soldier to return to their capital town,
With ten Hausa heads in hands. imagine this!!! |
Their fishes were seized after they have been killed,
The fishes were sold out to lbo traders,
The monies were shared among lbo soldiers,
Yet lbo people say they are Christians. War in Calabar area took five months, The fight was through our many untapped forests, Through our valleys and through the creeks, lbo people had long lived here, They knew all the corners to hide for the fight. The made all our Estate their battle field, They damaged anything within their reach, Yet Federal troops, though strange in the area, Were able to fight them on water and land, They proved superior to the rebel troops. lkot Okpora from Calabar is fifty six miles, Thick forest and valleys are all along the road, This was the way the rebels retreated to go, They took advantage of the valleys and forests, Re- enforcement they had daily in thousands, Yet Federal forces were up for the challenged, And drove the rebels to the end of our boundary. This is why l shall live to respect, Federal forces throughout my life, Land force, Air force and the Navy, Are really the pride of our nation, God bless Nigerian soldiers, Long live Yakubu Gowon. |
Area4Area:l intentionally brought out our past history so our south south brothers and sisters will learn and know their true enemies and start seeing Yoruba as their brother and Hausa as friend who help in rescue them from lbo domination. lbo cruel acts on our people were intensified, In Oron the natives were treated as common slaves, Oron Fishermen were brutally murdered, They were accused to be informant, To the federal Army in Calabar sector. |
Sunday 10th September 1967,
A remarkable day in our state history,
During Ojukwu reign of terror,
For since the year 1846
That Christian religion was brought to us,
Such incident had never occurred. The day Ojukwu soldiers guarded Calabar streets, To prevent people from going to Church, Disobedient ones were beaten to death, Some soldiers Marched to Churches that held, Drove the worshipper and tore the Bible, The day of grief for men of God, The day I will never forget in this my life. Yet Ojukwu said he was for us, Yet Ojukwu asked for our support, Yet Ibo race deceived the world, That they are more Christian than any race, Yet they trampled upon God and man, All was there for God to judge. Ojukwu soldiers were wild as beasts, They were thugs in the Army coats, At gun-points they robbed our goods, At Oron Beach Market many a time, The women returned with wailing tears, Their fishes and grayfish at gun-point were seized. Many Ibibio market suffered indeed, Obubra markets share the fate, At gun-point they abandoned their goods, Ojukwu soldiers cleared the market, And carried the goods to Iboland, The mighty God was there to see. They consolidated their positions everywhere, All over our native lands, Calabar water was filled with mines, To break war-ships if they should come. Calabar air-port was out of use, Mines were buried everywhere, Irons were used the block the way, To prevent planes from landing there. But 18th October that fateful day, saw all Ibo efforts thwarted and foiled, Calabar was liberated with Ibos fleeing for their life, Gone are they and free are we, From the oppression of lbo race. Gowon men are wonderful men, Such gallantry l have never seen, Their professional training has placed them on top, They are superb in weapon's control, They are intelligent and swift in the fighting field, Their morale can be measured with exact To the other civilised troops of the world. |
Federal soldiers forced ahead,
They proved superior at all the fronts,
They captured Nsukka and other Towns,
Bonny was a blow to the Ojukwu troops. Bonny storm shook Calabar, Ojukwu soldiers panted with fear, Ibos in Calabar staggered about, Many sent their wives and children home, Elder Dempster Launches carried overload, They worked for weeks to clear the queues. Many Ibomen who were about to go, Were forced to wait in Calabar, They were taught the art of war, They were given the guns to hide, To wait for the appointed day. Ibo private meeting was held in Calabar, And was addressed by their Army Commander, "Don't be afraid my fellow men, Federal troops cannot enter here, Everything is done to secure the Town, Go on with your normal lives, We are here waiting for them. But if in case they come to fight, Before they succeed to enter here, We shall leave Calabar a desert, Obudu, Ogoja and lkom mistakes, shall no more repeat itself." Ibo people nodded their heads with joy, They shouted Ibo queno! many a time, They laughed with others and shook their hands, They went back to their houses with hope, To remain for ever and ever here. |
Ibo people breathed an air of freedom, They relaxed with ease to enjoy their kingdom, They called their Biafra an impregnable nation, Chukwuemeka an unprecedented hero. Ibo Civil servants and policemen, Who robbed the Federal Government, And fled to Eastern Nigeria, Jumped for joy and clapped their hands, "Ojukwu the Genius, we worship thee, We are now free from facing the charge." Ibo ex- federal and Regional Ministers, Danced to rythm around the corner, Drank with big cups and enjoyed with others, They proposed the toasts of Odumegwu Ojukwu, "We are now free from Yakubu Gowon, No more probe to our ill-gotten wealth, Emeka Ojukwu has rescued all of us." Ibos rejoiced everywhere, South-Eastern were forced against their will, By Ibo oppressors to answer Biafrans, While they were yet Nigerians. Our sufferings increased beyond bounds, We were whipped like Jamaican slaves, Our children were sent out of schools, Some conscripted into the Ojukwu Army, Our wives and daughters rapes at will, We were helpless with flowing tears. Ibo people boasted to us, "We are the blessed nation of the world, We are the true Israelites of the old, Nigerians would not stand our strength, We were the back bone of the Nigerian Army." On July 6th 1967, Ojukwu pressed the red light for war, He commanded his soldiers out for fight, Each soldier to return to their capital town, With ten Hausa heads in hands. Gowon could no longer wait, He signalled to his gallant men, To penetrate with care to Enugu Town, To capture Ojukwu to face the charge, Gowon soldiers proved their valour, That Rebels had never had their way, They Marched forward to do the job, Rebel troops fled in disarray, And lost their grips in every front. |
On May 30th 1967,
Three days after the creation of states,
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu,
With ambition to be called a head of state,
With full support of only his Ibo race,
To make us completely the Ibo wives,
Declared former Eastern Nigeria,
Federal Republic of Biafra. He boasted to the entire world, "no power in Black Africa, Can subdue the Republic of Biafra," He shruggled his shoulders with pride, And move about with pomp. |
congratulations swedy. |
In uyo 160 men
were packed for days in a narrow room,
Everything about them were all forgotten,
After twelve days the room was opened,
To find that all were dead and mutilated,
Ojukwu soldiers kicked the dead and laughed with joy. |

To Colonel Benjamin Adekunle , I say Bravo!
God had sent you save our people, |
On may 27th 1967,
Major General Yakubu Gowon ,
Created twelve states in Nigeria,
South-Eastern state of Nigeria,
Was our state in the federation. |
To accomplished their dream of an empire,
Our divisions were made provinces,
County areas became Divisions,
Ibo officers were posted to all that stations,
To control our areas down to the village level.
Ibo soldiers and police were everywhere,
Every corner was a checking point,
Only our people were ridiculed and checked,
ibo were free to move about at will. |
That wonderful revealing statement,
Was a shock to our entire people,
That Ibos should insult our intelligence,
To regard us as their subjects, |
When Ojukwu was on tour of the former region,
Uyo people proved fearless their determination,
They declared their stand for a separate state,
Ojukwu in reply, declared to them. "this is not the time to ask for state, We must unite to fight our common for, There is no need for a separate state, Any quarrel between Ibos and Ibibios is like that of a husband and wife." |
Non- Easterners were expelled from the east,
To enable Ibos play their havoc with ease,
Federal Establishment in the East were seized,
They refused to hear any pleading for peace. |
Ibo leaders held meetings,
They dealt on every point with care,
"How would our lives be my comrades,
if minority areas are Free are freed from our clutches,
our livelihood all come from there.
We shall be helpless in the face of the earth,
If Calabar and Port Harcourt are taken from us,
If Oron , Ogoja and Ikom shall not be our own,
What sort of lives shall we live to see.
the only solution in the issue,
We must seceded from Nigeria,
To keep back minority areas,
Under our perpetual domination.
We must marry their daughters and buy their lands,
Mix with them and speak their language,
We must suppress them as much as we can,
We must take control of all their lands,
We must deceived them that we are one,
We must entice their leaders with money,
So shall everything be well with us. Gowon shall not come over here, As long as we are in power here, We have enough soldiers to fight for us, Major Nzeogwu is here to kill Gowon." |
Yet he failed to tell the world the truth,
Why they refused to cooperate ,
they knew Gowon will create the state,
That calabar, Ogoja and Rivers shall have,
Their chance to determine and decide their fate. |
Emeka Ojukwu tried in vain,
To reverse the decision of God,
He told the world different versiona,
About Hausa, Fulani domination,
About Moslem, Christian conflicts,
He laid emphasis on pogrom towards the Ibos. |
Ibos refused to cooperate,
They knew Gowon will create the states,
To solve problems of future dominantion,
in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. |
A practical Christian, a man of God, YAKUBU GOWON, a Nigerian saviour. Gowon emerged a minute to time, To save Nigeria from disintegration, He cleared the mist of uncertainty, And established hope to the waiting nation. He proved his valour beyond doubt, He showed kindness without delay He showed kindness to everyone, Political prisoners were released to go. Awo and Eyo were promptly released. Enahoro and others were free again, Nigerian citizens received the news, With jubilation everywhere. Gowon dug into nation task, He promised to keep Nigeria one, He appealed to the nation for full support, He prayed all to forget the past, And come together for our country's sake. Other tribes in the federation, Gave the appeal an immediate support, but lbo tribe did not cooperate, because the leader was not lboman. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, The then Military Governor of Eastern Region, Took the lead for lbo people, Proved his wisdom beyond bounds, He did his best to cause confusion, To disintegrate the Federal Nigeria. |
lbo people declared ojukwu a hero,
Zik and Okpara remained behind the scene,
lbiam bragged of non compromising,
lbo thugs staged demonstrations,
For the support to there leaders. |
the Senate are doing their job auspiciously. |
