Five star general approah to 1^x+2^x+3^x=6^x

(6-5)^x+(6-4)^x+(6-3)^x=6^x

(6^x(1-5/6)^x)+(6^x(1-4/6)^x)+(6^x(1-3/6)^x)=6^x

6^x((1-5/6)^x)+(1-4/6)^x+(1-3/6)^x)=6^x

1-5/6x+1-4/6x+1-3/6x=1
3-12/6x=1
2x=3-1
2x=2
X=2/2=1

N.b use the principle of linear approximation((1+x)^n approximately equal to 1+nx) becos x is small enough to ignore the values of x^2, x^3, etc

@richiez,

I would like to make some recomendations with regards to the quiz competition

1. The levels of the participants should be clearly stated especially, jambite, undergraduate, postgraduate or is the competition opens to all and sundry

2. the questions should be objective based with 4 options, a, b, c and d

3. The questions sets should be adaptive for the potential participants. I mean the question to be set should be graded according to the level of difficulties especially, easy, medium and hard case questions (based on steps, reasoning and math areas)

4. If it is objective based question, negative marking should be strictly applied. That is actual mark = correct - incorrect/4.

5. Rewards should be given to the participant with decorated hall of fame to inspire young and aspiring mathematicians or otherwise.

6. Areas of the mathematics to be cover by the participants need to be made know to encourage speed, accuracy, organisation and preparation.

The strcuture and organisation must be matured, sound and solid to encourage more participants in the nearest future. U never can tell how far the kinds of quiz can go.

d citizen:
Solution to 3^x+4^x=5^x

Divide bothsides by 4^x

0.75^x+1=1.25^x

(1-0.25)^x+1=(1+0.25)^x

we are having a case of (1+x)^n= 1+nx as a good approximation since x is small enough to ignore the values of x^2, x^3, etc.

Thus, 1-0.25x+1=1+0.25x
1=0.5x
Thus, x=1/0.5=2.

What i did is linear approximation

(1+x)^n is approximated to 1+nx provided that x is mall enough to ignore x^2, x^3, etc.

Pls donot institute a case against me. Am jst being curious about ur true identity and making a honest and passionate appeal. I have gone tru ur incisive post on this forum but at different sections especially joke and romance and i saw a smooth oscillation of ur identity from ferminism to masculinity. I really admire ur math insight and prowess .i must admit that you have a deep seated passion for math. I can see that tru ur indepth scruitiny of the working of math problems by fellow math generals in the house and i am interested in knowing ur true identity. Great female mathematicians are few but they come once in a century. I am putting you on a hotseat and challenge u to review ur identity now. I want my conscience to be clear when referring to ur gender with pronouns "he" or "she". I must salute ur courage, personal drive and sheer determination as you journey into the math world.

@adol,

Let me give u a clue to solve 1, 2 questions

e^x=1+x+x^2/2!+x3/3!+

So, reduce the expression to 1+x+x^2/2! For a good approximation.

For 1,

1+x+x^2/2!=2x+1

The same is applicable to problem 2

number3 problem has been dealt with. Try and go tru the pages.

If a+b+c=d

Taking log of bothsides does not imply:

Loga+logb+loc=logd

Becos logabc=logd
abc=d, which does not give you the original expression

But here is what it mean

Log(a+b+c)=logd

@lord I agreed with the assertion of the person dat made the statement that hooliganism, thurgery, lawlessness and brigandage are part and parcel of the south west region. true or sad, his statement is valid. It clearly show that he is a concern citizen who desire peace, stablity and progess in these country and a sound and intelligent observer.

Take lagos as a case study which had been a capital of nigeria for more than 30years now. You will see grown up men who are above 30years of age turning bustops in lagos as their business centers harassing lawabiding passenger and forcefully extorting money from the danfo or commercial drivers after loading passengers under a broad day light. Most of them are indigene of oyo and osun state but sadly muslim who have contributed nothing but cataclysm and brigandage to lagos state. These yoruba monsters can borrow a clue from igbo traders who have turn desert and slums in lagos into huge business hubs. Computer village, ladipo automobile center, gsm villages are clear case studies. They can also borrow a clue from the hausa and funali who are making huge profits from their businessess in mile 2 and agege area. We must cage these maurading and deluded miscreants from our society,hanged in a nest or cage and dumped them in a concentrated camp in ikorodu for complete rehabilitation instead of being used and manipulated by political pundits as thugs to unleased mayhems on lagosians.

The south west of nigeria has had over 3 states of emergency in ibadan and ekiti state but we cannot afford to have such again. It is a clear indication of the failure of awolowo freeand quantitative education. Despite his quantitative free education, there are still high magnitudes of bridandage and thurgery dat have pervaded the west .

The area boy syndrome or culture must stop for us to have a healthy ,stable and prosperous society. The unwholesome activities of thes street urchin are alarming and mindblogling. Thurgery is a cancer . If we donot rise up to the occassio to kill, it will gradually consume us one day.

@ the rebellious group 7 went to obj to seek inspiration and guidance on how to press home their demand. But what they have forgotten is the dynamics of nigerian politics and time. Obj has been dimystefied a long time ago and he is no longer relevant to nigeria politics of today. Take it or leave it. A good politician should have a full control of his base or region but obj has practically lost it becos of his sheer arroagncy, power tussle, highhandeness and greed. He is also an authoritative leader whose ideas, belief and leadership style is detrimental to our democractic growth and development.

Anybody who is still thinking that obj is still relevant to nigerian politics is not a good student of history. Powerful men comes and powerful men go. No empire last for ever and any monument dat is built for human pride will be razed to the ground. He should resign frm active politics now as an elderstatement bf he is thrown in the shadow of disgrace and embassrassment. He has outlived his purpose and he should be thanking God for spearing his life under the african pharoah of abacha of this world who almost sacrificed his head and that of his kinsmen for the lust of power.

Obj is an ingrate ruler who had ruled for uninterrupted 8years and want to become a liftime president bf his inordinate and selfseeking ambition was destroyed by ken himself. After his mughabe mentality was destroyed, he decided to become a step aside president by appointing a leader whose fitness and health are in doubt so dat he can remotely control the incument leader and his successor. His bid to control the president from otta farm failed woefully and he cunningly chided some rebellious and political neophyte among the pdp to challenge the authority of the president to destabilised him and wipe him into submission but gej maintain his stand against all odds. Obj antics and girmmick in politics are over now as the president leaders of the pdp have mastered his obsolete political intrigues and armed themselve with modern idea of 21st century politics. the time is now for obj to take an honourable bow out of nigerian politics for posterity to judge him right

That is why i love the igbo pple as a tribe. If that practice has been in igbo, igbo will have confronted the cultural practice and demystify it a long time ago with courage and boldness and intelligence. Great invention and civilisation are built on caurage , temerity and sound reasoning

Culture is dynamic and evloving. Thinking pple not slowpoke and coward pple redefine culture and move on. I strongly believe that there is nothing wrong with us dat cannot be cured by what is right it us. I believe in conservatism keeping what is worth keeping and progessivism discarding what is worth discarding. To me, i think oro practice is a retrogressive culture dat is counterproductuve and has outlived its purpose.

A white man from far europe invaded nigeria and held our pple hostage and exported them to europe for exploitation and slave trade thereby creating identity crises. They even silenced the god of all tribes. Why cannot the gods in yoruba, igbo or hausa stop them? Is our god afraid of the white skin?

I have said and i am saying it again that anybody that is still practicing oro festival restricting movement in the 21st century has not fully evolved. He or she still belongs to the stone age.

The worst tragedy of a man is self delusion or deceit. Pple claimd dat oro practice help to secure a community? How true is it? I live in an area where two opc security men were brutally murdered by armed robber in the middle of the nait. One was beheaded by gang of armed robber, while the other one was thrown into a life transfomer and he was electrocuted to dealth despite the voodoo and charms dat they both possessed. 3 days, later, some group of traditional ppl decided to carry out oro festival to cleanse the land from armed robbery, but the incidence of robbery still persist and i am yet to see confession from the gang of robbers. It is a pity dat we have a vast proportion of nigerians dat are still living in self deciet and delusion. May God help us in this country and save us frm self-inflicted ignorance and delusion. We are gods.

@jackpot,

Look closely at ur rationalisation, u will see an error there

-1+1/1-(cos@+isin@)

It is wrongly equated and rationalised.

Again, in ur elementary sum to infinity,

The r is not a modulus. It is an ordinary r dat is less than 1 not its absolute value

Let me give u an example if u have r= -1 as ur common ratio, then d modulus, is equal to 1, which go contrary to the principle of geometric series to infinity.
. I will like the person dat pose the questions to confirm if my answer is wrong. Although, i am solving d problem with my fone. I am certain dat the answer is right
