The court of Appeal hasn't ruled against the court in the matter of Jurisdiction. Even if it does, the Court won't strike out the case. it'll rather transfer it to the state high court.

The court adjourned and asked all parties to maintain "status quo ante" pending the conclusion of the jurisdiction suit. But RSIEC disobeyed the court.

I agree with you that the only reason PDP went to court was to stall the election. And they achieved it with the help of APC's jurisdiction suit.

If APC had pursued a quick resolution of the case, maybe the court would've ruled in their favour.

there is no law in the electoral act which makes it mandatory for inec to give register to risec for an election to be conducted. The case before the court had nothing to do with where or when risec got the voters ' register. They could have had a copy all this while, they could have gotten the voters register from Abuja. PDP did not approach the Court to stop RSIEC but to stop INEC from releasing the Voters Register to RSIEC (I hope this answers your jurisdiction question). APC quickly challenged the court's jurisdiction in the court of appeal to stall the case.

The court ruled that the "Status quo ante" be maintained. A rule RSIEC disobeyed thereby making the whole election illegal.

Even if the Federal High Court doesn't have jurisdiction, that's not enough reason for RSIEC to disobey the court.

my brother, adherence to court orders should never and can never be one sided! The apc and chairmen went to the appeal court and challenged the jurisdiction of akanbi's court to hear the matter. Akanbi was duly served and the appeal judgement was set for October 12th. Akanbi had no right to do anything before October 12th. Also the suit to join the chairmen in the suit was challenged and still pending in court. That was to be heard before any ruling. It's not the prerogative of akanbi to join or not join them in the suit. That matter was in another court. That judgement yesterday was what people wanted to hear especially those who are still angry at amaechi but that judgement was illegal and a sham.

The local government chairmen sought to be joined in the suit as legally obtainable, justice akanbi refused. The National industrial court ordered that nobody should tamper with the tenure of the lga chairmen, justice akanbi refused. It's now they are talking about obeying court order. Fools.

Only Inec has d power to keep n update voters register for d conduct of elections in Nigeria both Federal n state. If Inec was barred from releasing voters list to Rivsiec it simply meant d court knew DAT without d voters list no election but Amaechi believing APC will be d govt at d centre went ahead to conduct d election 5days to May 29th handover when he cud v done it within his 4yrs tenure. The words status quo is what they are being mischievous about here. What part of this English do you not understand? that is not the business of justice akande's court. the issue of what register was used did not even come up. He said the court stopped the election, when there was never such court judgement stopping the election.

The presiding judge is so funny. The case was a common sense judgement. The pdp went to court to stop inec from releasing the inec register to the apc, and the judge said 'maintain status quo'. Clearly it means 'inec, don't release the inec register'. How in the hell does that translate to 'don't conduct elections?' the issue of whether risec were right to conduct the election without the released inec register is a different case entirely. Is that justice akanbi a judge at all? And this judgement is supposed to be enforced? By the police? Buhari has clearly sold out the southern arm of his party. That was how he watched on while ayo fayose used 5 lawmakers to chase out 17 lawmakers and impeached the speaker with 5 out of 22 members and slapped a judge. APC was persecuted during patience Jonathan 's regime and still being persecuted today. Na wonder tanoids call him baba go slow.
