I agree completely with you, bro. The fact that Messi can score loads of goals and also create loads of scoring opportunities make him one of the most complete players ever. His close rivals in the game are merely goal scoring machines. They are not as creative (be it Falcao, Ronaldo, just name it). This is what makes Messi 'extra-terrestrial' according to Jorge Jesus, coach of Benfica, at the post-match press conference on Tuesday night.

I am not a good football analyst, please cules, what do you guys think of a line up like this for Sunday's classico?

Valdes

Alves Mascherano Bartra Alba
i think iam with you 100% especially with the bartra and song inclusions. but i have reservations about villa. maybe pedro instead. he's quick and has a good record against madrid.

Song

Busquets

Xavi Iniesta

Messi Villa

Song is there to give cover to the rookie (Bartra) so as to solidify the defense. Villa plays as a lone striker whilst Busquets, Xavi, Messi and Iniesta form the core of the attacking midfield. If we are leading in the second half, Song or Bartra could be substituted by bringing in Pedro or Fabregas to consolidate our attack.

I'm not an expert though, but I just want us to win Madrid 'any which way we go fit take do am'. I want us to widen that gap from 8 to 11 points and win the league as soon as possible so that we could give 100% concentration to the champions league. This is our year (every other year; 2008, 2010, 2012). Visca el Barca

davies123: History
history i agree. but ronaldo scored a hattrick yesterday and today it is also history. me bringing up messi's 5 goals against levercusen is only a response to comments ive been reading in some quarters that ronaldo is the world best because he scored a hattrick yesterday. it's only a reminder that in this same 2012, messi scored 5goals.
davies123: He has not scored period! What is assist is he supposed to fold his hand before and not do anything? He is been trying but he cant find a goal! When he is doing well say he is doing well, when he is not say he is not.Dont kill your self with sentiment, abi is he sharing his fat salary with you?
does your logic tell you that a player who scores a goal or two in a game definitely performed better than one who didnt score any? i do not understand your reasoning. it is only a great player like messi that could be man of a match even without scoring. but ronaldo, without a goal to his credit, he never makes man of the match. now do the math friend , what does this tell you?

Stealthy: I didn't manage to contribute to the debate about whether a selfish Messi is good for the team or not.

For ma, I prefer the Messi of this season - he's playing deeper and is less selfish than last season. Pedro and Alexis now seem to have realized that they are also there to provide goals, not just pass to Messi. If they look around themselves and can't see Messi, they don't have a choice but to shoot.

Last season, a "selfish" broke all scoring records, but the team ended up having the worst season in the Pep era. Ok, I know Messi also had loads of assists, so it's difficult to say he's selfish. This season, Messi has scored slightly fewer goals, but the team has a 100% record in La Liga and UCL.

So, let's have a less selfish Messi and let the other players pick up some of the scoring responsibility. It makes the team less predictable and increases our chances of winning against teams like Chelsea.
last season barca won the super cups, the club world cup and the spanish fa cup(copa del rey). i do not agree that it was a 'worst' season or it was even a bad season. i think it was a good season. if barca loses the title to a the richest club in world football with great superstars like casilas, ronaldo, marcelo, pepe, ramos, higuain, benzema, de maria, ozil, kaka, alonso, khedira, and co, after dominating for 3 seasons, i dont think it was a failure. also if barca failed to retain the uefa champions league after making the semis for 5 straight seasons, it's not a bad season at all. it's either the bar had been raised to high or the detractors are being mischievous. so i think barca had a good season and messi had the greatest individual season in world football. i also hink that something needs to be done very fast about the defence. i have a gut feeling that soon that makeshift defence is going to boomerang. i hope abidal, pique and puyol come back 100% soon.

in the last ten years ans in the last decade

and it also applies to saying in the past decade is not same as saying in the last ten years.

ask any brilliant SSCE student that is preparing for JAMB they will explain the rules of english on the difference.

hence,
"the past decade "= 2001 -2010.
i just asked a very dvmb JS 3 student preparing for her js3 exams and guess what. surprisingly she was smart enough to know that a decade is definitely a span of 10 years but the 01's - 10's are only used for the sake of convenience. just convenience.

Mcleo007: Tito knws best! I personally believe he's not ready for such game mentally. There's more to these games than meets the eye. He's up in the task for CDR games nonetheless.
And our club legend, Ronald Koeman in the news. He feels Penaldo should be awarded the Balon D'or simply because Messi has won it thrice. How silly!
It's seems everyone is now pleading on behalf of
Ronaldo. What's does Koeman really mean with this
comment, i can't imagine the comment comes out for so many reasons.
1. Because no one has won it 4times in a row?
2. Because past football legends don't want messi to go top of them?
3. Because they want to consulate Ronaldo?
4. Maybe the passion to do more won't be there
anymore for Ronaldo?
5. Because Messi will win all awards in Barca and not with any other club?
All these are not a Ǧ☺☺ϑ reason to deny Messi the
award for the 4th time.. So i think it's best other show more on the pitch. It would have been more better for Ronaldo if the award is base on collective
performance.. But it's individual award so Messi
deserve it once more sorry....

logica: Sorry o. Na you know Messi.

But the really hilarious part of your post is in red. So you think it makes sense that Messi should continue to stay upfront in tight situations where he can't make headway and he is being tightly marked? Even without a coach's instruction, any player with commonsense will know he needs to shift to an area where he can get a hold of the ball when he's starved of the ball.

Even out-and-out strikers (Ibrahimovic, Eto'o, Falcao, Llorente, etc) do this not to talk of Messi. So that is basic commonsense; not unselfishness. It's an act borne out of survival instinct, and not as noble as you try to put it. It is simply for him to have an influence on the game in a situation where he had been rendered redundant as a striker.
good point. but i tell you solemnly there are some strikers i know who wouldnt drop back no matter what happens simply because they want to remain upfront and pad up their goals. when you look at messi's goal records you are tempted to call him selfish, but guy his assist record is awesome, it is incredible! how could just one man score so many goals and make so many assists? back to your statement if he was selfish he wouldnt give a fvck if he was starved of the ball, he would still remain upfront just to get the goals, but he isnt so he drops deep in order to feel the ball and make assists for others.

BTW,
the match being referred to was two seasons ago. and real just won the league last season.

chai dippset I tire for you sha.

pls dont muddle my comments. alot of you guys kept going on and on about how we got an unfair victory against sevilla saturday night, and then i reminded you guys of how madrid got theirs sometime ago against the same victimised opponents in sevila cus as far as you guys and mourinho are concerned you never benefit from a referee's error, your players are always victims and your coach never faulters. and as for last season real madrid got a lot of dubious 3 points from errors made by the referee. and then in hind sight if all errors were eliminated for both barca and madrid, barca would have retained la liga. so what's the moral of my story? respect to barca and dont come up with these ridiculous conspiracy theories whenever a decision favours us. this is logic, isnt it?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by ddippset(m): 7:16pm On Oct 01, 2012
logica: Being a Messi fan did not stop me from being rankled by Messi berating a player in the caliber of David Villa on live TV for taking a shot at goal; especially when he was well within his rights to do so. I have seen Messi go for goal on so many occasions and miss when a simple tap in would've have resulted had he made a pass from his position (usually from the side of the opponent's goal).

A selfish Messi cannot benefit Barcelona or himself for that matter. Messi was most selfish last season and he broke goal scoring records; but the club only won a single almost inconsequential trophy - the Copa del Rey. And that must have affected the votes in picking Iniesta over him for the "Best Player in Europe" award. So if Messi wants to help the team and himself, he should create chances for others and allow them take their chances when it is justified.
you do not know messi at all. no you dont. messi scores so much and assists so much. how could you call him selfish. i tell you if he was selfish he would score 100 goals. i could understand his frustrations with villa, even though he over reacted. when a game gets tough messi always drops back to the mid field. why?- because he is not selfish.
