iwatch:I see. Don't feel so bad. You didn't feel anything at that time and, if not that she's now with someone else you'll probably still not see her worth. I had a similar experience. I liked him, I considered him as the best of my best friends but I never felt the 'me and you' part even though I knew how he felt. Later, he found someone else but I realized that he now despised me in a way and cut me off completely. But, I don't regret it anymore. I still found someone who dots over me. |
Hmmn! Very possible. And sometimes, the person is not deliberately trying to spite you. It's not what you have or don't have, she just doesn't see you as a soulmate. Things just happen like that sometimes and you can't explain. Mystery! babyosisi: |
After their huge salary @https://www.nairaland.com/2042218/special-report-salary-nigerian-senators and Sanusi's accusation that they spend 1/3 of Nigeria's wealth, I didn't expect those legislators to still have the gut to pass this kind of bill. Why not bills like "more pay for corpses (like #50k)", increased minimum wage, tax rebate for those who lose their jobs, monthly stipend for jobless graduates, free education to any level for indigents and orphans, compulsory declaration of assets for political office holders etc No wonder, many of them will prefer the legislature to executive positions. They don't even have limit to the number of terms they can spend. Nigeria, how far? How did we get here? |

Ajimobi won in Oyo State. Now that "Ibadan kii sin'yan lemeeji" parable has been broken. Such notion that 'Ibadan people do not serve a person twice' will henceforth refer only to those whose ambitions and actions have failed the people. Congrats to Ajimobi and his campaign team. |
Hope they'll return the money with interest. |
Imagine being asked this question at a ministerial appointment or job interview, "Having observed the Nigerian electoral process and recent happening in the nation, if given the opportunity to act as Special Adviser to Nigeria's next President in any capacity, what will be top in your list of advice to him?" Fellow compatriots, the floor is open. |

The Bankers’ Committee launched a Financial Literacy Radio Campaign today, 20th October 2014 and Emeka Emuwa, Group Managing Director of Union Bank Nigeria Plc has kicked-off the first broadcast this morning at 6.25 am on Inspiration fm on the importance of financial literacy. Emeka is Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Financial Literacy and Public Enlightenment of the Bankers’ Committee. The radio series is aimed at educating the general public (children, youth and adults) about the importance of financial literacy as a key enabler for financial inclusion and by extension, economic development. It will feature Managing Directors/Chief Executive Officers from various Nigerian Banks, who will speak on several money-related topics such as financial discipline; creating a savings plan; ways to enhance your chances of getting a personal loan from a bank; getting a small business loan from a bank; acquiring a home; retirement and savings; among others. The schedule for the radio programme is: Inspiration FM 92.3 (Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Abuja) 6:25am; 12:15pm; 6:15pm Nigeria Info 99.3 Lagos and Port Harcourt 6.55am; 12.10pm; 6.55pm Abuja 6.25 am; 3.15pm; 7.05pm Metro FM 97.6 8.05am; 2.10pm; 5.55pm The programme is aired every Monday and repeat broadcast on Wednesdays. This is a great gesture towards being educated about finance. Knowledge is power. |
Background: Until recently, I had known insurance to be a kind of risky and expensive endeavor. I thought it was for rich people who wanted to insure their house, car, business premises, or children's education. They pay premiums monthly. When they face a tragedy or disaster, say an auto accident, the insurance company will give them a new car.You know, that kind of idea. I was literate and all that but didn't know better. Now: I have been coming across a number of insurance agents recently, and I realised many insurance companies in Nigeria now have packages for the average Nigerian. AIICO, Custodian, Mutual Benefits etc. They now have a kind of savings plan in which people can save to get their money with interest after a given period. Although, I know there may be others here who were not insurance-literates like me but I believe some NLers might have tried some of these new policies before. Please, kindly educate me about the nitty-gritty of these policies. I am presently considering AIICO's Corporate Savings plan, Custodian's Esusu Shield, and Mutual Benefit's ISPP. I would like to make an informed decision. Thanks. |

I believe there's always some desire lurking in the heart of every living being. That kind of desire that you cannot shake off no matter how hard you try. A picture of something you most want to do before you die implanted in your mind. I got the inspiration for this thread from http://edition.cnn.com/2013/11/29/living/before-i-die-walls-book/index.html?sr=fb120113beforeidie10p Give it a thought and write yours here. Hi all, Been a while. Before we continue our new language acquisition, let's get tips that will enhance our language learning. I compiled these tips: *Decide on the new language you want to learn. It is easy and better to learn one language at a time and to decide why it is important for you to learn it. This will help you to stay motivated. *Study the pronunciation of the new language you want to learn. Practice the difficult sound daily and then, check your proficiency with a fluent speaker or a dictionary in that language. Ensure you get pronunciations as correctly as possible. Bad pronunciation habits are confusing and difficult to break.Study the writing system of the language too. *Practice the common words or phrases that are relevant to you. Don't learn words tractor when you won't say it everyday. A word like woman might be better than zoo. Learn the most important words and learn them in context rather than in isolation. * Take advantage of free web tutorials, especially the video or audio listen and learn. * Try to know the history and culture of the native speakers of the language you are learning. *Never stop practicing. Speak the language with native speakers you know. Let them correct you where necessary. *Be patient with yourself. Don't give up easily if you are having difficulties. Begin with simple and common words and practice daily. Later all. |

I love learning new languages. Meeting people who speak languages I've never heard is fun to me. From Igbo to Hausa to Tiv to French to Spanish to German... I have tried to pick up one or two phrases from these languages. It helps me to strike a conversation with people who speak it. Especially strangers. So, here I will like us to learn along with me. I must acknowledge that I got learn most words through google. Here we go: LEARN TO SAY THANK YOU Language Thank you Pronunciation Igbo Imela ee-mei-lah Hausa Nagode nah-go-day Yoruba Ese/ Eseun eh-she/ eh-she-oon Afrikaans dankie dahn-kee Arabic shukran shoe-krahn Australian English ta (informal) Chinese, Cantonese do jeh daw-dyeh Chinese, Mandarin xie xie syeh-syeh Czech dêkuji deh-ku-yih Danish tak tahg Finnish kiitos kee-toas French merci mehr-see German danke dahn-kah Greek efharisto ef-har-rih-stowe Hebrew toda toh-dah Hindi, Hindustani sukria shoo-kree-a Indonesian/Malayan terima kasih t'ree-ma kas-seh Italian grazie gra-see Japanese arigato ahree-gah-tow Korean kamsa hamnida kahm-sah=ham-nee-da Norwegian takk tahk Philippines (Tagalog) salamat po sah-lah-maht poh Polish dziekuje dsyen-koo-yeh Portuguese obrigado oh-bree-gah-doh Russian spasibo spah-see-boh Spanish gracias gra-see-us Sri Lanka (Sinhak) istutiy isst-too-tee Swahili asante ah-sahn-teh Swedish tack tahkk Thai kawp-kun krap/ka' kowpkoom-krahp/khak Turkish tesekkür ederim teh-sheh-kur=eh-deh-rim More to come... |
