Dude embarassed i'm a lady!!! but it's all good. Which my "stories" it's only one i told you o! well, you're actually the first person that has a good experience in that church. Another story i heard was that in that church the RMD's are the deacons of the church!

Yeah, every man of God has his own crowd. I get accused on being biased about men of God, that's just me--i'm content where i've found God, so i don't look outside. So i can understand why you won't/ can't go to their churches. I thought so too, until i found myself in an RCCG, but my heart still yearns to go connect with my church.

Aaaww, i'm happy for you. Please tell me you're marrying the chic? cuz, i know some brothers in my church ended up there, cuz they followed the sisters there! nothing wrong with that. Well, i haven't found anyone to affect me so, hence i remain a skeptic. A friend of mine once went there, and she said they were told to come with 3 things: bible, note, and dictionary. She's still the way she was when we were teenagers. I know girls that've gone there, and i've not seen the impact ANY word has made on them.

TayoD, i wasn't joking when i said it o! lol, lol, that's what i think! but then again, that's my perception of the man grin. Yeah, i read "The Last Outcast," and it was just another fictional book that surrounded the son of perdition--the devil. Indeed it didn't have too much grammer, but i can't seem to remember if i had a dictionary by my side when i was reading it.

I don't have anything against the man, he's a friend of my dad's, and a friend of my dad's my friend--i think! and that's how we got the book. I know he trained pastor Bimbo and Pastor Taiwo, and some other people. I happened to run into a paper that he gave the interview revealing how he trained them, and this was after Pastor Bimbo's death. There was something braggadocious about that interview--he single handedly turned the article from how wonderful she was to how such a good teacher he was!

About him being the best teacher, that i don't know about. I live in the States like you, and on TBN i see good preachers like Jetterson Franklin, Dr Creflo Dollar, Bishop T.D. Jakes, even the pastor at the local assembly i go to--these men are fired up when it comes to teaching God's word! they break it down and relate it to everyday activities, but Pastor Okotie huh, i don't know what's going on there.

Yeah, i don't understand his vision, and i'm open to understanding it, but till then. In the mean time, if you have his messages--ones that don't leave me confused in between, i'll be happy to listen to them. If he's got a website that has his messages, i just might check it out!

@Zionchic

I love Martha Munizzi. I bought that CD cuz of the song "God is here," and ended up falling in love with "Because of who you are." I think she won an award for traditional gospel or something, and she made a statement that annoyed me, she was like she doesn't know if anyone recognizes that she's white, and i'm like "duuh!!" and when BET gospel went to her crib she didn't help matters either! there was almost no difference between the way she took us round her crib, and the way a secular artist'd do it! but aside those event, she's ok. But Prophetess Bynum, now that's a babe! you need to check out her new album "A Piece of My Passion." TIGHT!!

Unless Smokie Norful re-sang "Praise is What I Do" it was originally done by Shekinah Glory Ministries, i actually thought it was J.Moss that sang it, me and my big mouth, i said as much in front of one of the pastor's of their church, when they came to our church, i've been walking in shame since then. But, you should check out their entire albums--they'll take you right into His presence.

Tolulope,
i get the strong feeling that you're a member of his congregation--good for you. "Clear concience?" you're kidding me right? what makes me watch it if it's not for the fact that i'm trying to get what he's trying to communicate? i'm not going to bother testing his anointing, but onething i do know is that, several times i have tried watching his program, and none of those times did i ever finish because he made he lost me a lot along the way. Too much grammer, and explanations that are inconsistent with the gospel--i won't be shocked if he even buys into the Davinci Code! my opinion.

Bottom line, Nigeria needs a change, and if Pastor Chris is that man, God will exalt his horn like that of a unicorn, but if not, let the "man of God" focus on his ministry. We're in the last days, and God's people need to do the work they're called instead of deviating from the work of the gospel. Is Pastor Chris' ministry in order? has he raised people that will take his place if he becomes president? what'll happen to his church? will he send them to other ministries? well, the vision is given to one man! i wonder if he's that man.

"and sometimes his sermons, to me o! are not scriptural." I meant to say that it's my personal opinion that his sermons are not scriptural, regardless of whether he quotes the bible or not--my opinion.
PoliticsRe: Chris Okotie (Fresh Party) For President In 2007? by dearzi(f): 11:43pm On May 03, 2006
I don't know what kind of president he will make o! Nigeria does need a change, but is Pastor Chris a man of fidelity? good character and so on? or are we just buying into him being a man of God? if God indeed gave him a vision, i'm sure God knows how He'll place him there, but till then, i think the man should focus on his church--make it a better ministry, expand, and make his sermons easier to follower, cuz once that man gets going, he loses me completely, and sometimes his sermons, to me o! are not scriptural. I don't think i want him as my president.

I especially liked the end of that article

Is TB Joshua a man of God? i'm not bothered about him--i'm most concerned about my own salvation, which's what we all should be. Leave TB alone; if you feel sorry for those in his congregation, pray for them. And if the ministry's really bad, it's up to them to seek the truth for themselves.

Christianity EtcRe: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 3:03am On Apr 27, 2006
Haba Kimba smiley not everyone has the Holy Spirit, it's not possible, the Holy Spirit is what makes us different from a regular man--that's the divine one living in us. Remember man is also a tripartite (hopefully spelt it right--which i doubt!) being: he's a spirit, dwells in a body, and has a soul which's made up of his emotions ,free will, thoughts etc.

So what we're all born with is a soul, from there sits our intellect, and from whence we reason. The Holy Spirit's only given to the Born-Again. How can God dwell in an unclean temple? remember what communion has light with darkness. The Holy Spirit is the Angel of God's presence, He's God Himself, and if God cannot see iniquity why would He punish Himself to dwell in the un-saved man! that's why it's very vital for man to get born-again, and ask for the spirit of God. He's the one that gives us direction for our lives, and sets us apart from the ordinary man. Remember He's that same spirit that raised Christ from the dead. It's impossible for Him to dwell anywhere else.
Christianity EtcRe: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 11:48pm On Apr 26, 2006
Softee, i don't think so. God's Holy and His eyes cannot behold iniquity. So if He's Holy, His Spirit is also holy. That's why, when we Christians do wrong we can't "feel" the spirit, because we've used our sin to surpress Him. The Holy Spirit can only dwell where He's invited--in the born-again temple.

Yes, we all have a sense of right and wrong, and that's what makes people choose what they do--either right or wrong. But when you're born-again, it's like having expo (i don't know how to explain it in English) it's like having inside help. So, no, not every one has the Holy Spirit.

Every one has the same measure of the Holy Spirit, it's just a matter of how much you know about Him. It's like 3 friends, two are exceptionally close, cuz they spend more time together and all, the third person's also close, but spends less time with the other two, hence will know less--but they're all friends, sharing each other. I don't know if that's the best analogy, i'm distracted now, cuz i've got a class in 14mins, but i'll tell you more when i get back.

Sweetie, just study the bible, it'll help you. Read books that teach on the Holy Spirit "7 things the Holy Spirit will do for you" by Pastor Chris, "Good Morning Holy Spirit" by Benny Hinn, they'll help you, smiley
Christianity EtcRe: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 11:42pm On Apr 26, 2006
Hot-angel

You need to ask yourself certain things: 1) Am i really born-again? 2) have i recieved the Holy Spirit? 3) if not, how can i receive Him 4) Now, what do i do next?

If you're born-again and you've not received the Holy Spirit, or you're not sure, it's simple, ask for Him, God's eager to release Him into your life (Lk 11:13). It's just a matter of "Father, i need you in my life, and you said to ask and we'd be given, i ask for the Holy Spirit in line with your word, and i believe i receive Him even now in Jesus name."

Once you've said that prayer, believe in your heart, and develop a relationship with Him. It's like making friends with someone new. Study His word, welcome Him when you pray, have a conversation with Him, you'll be amazed to find Him speaking back to you. You might think it's your mind, but with time you'll be able to recognize His voice more clearly, and when you're not sure, search the scriptures.

When i'm hurt, or feel alone, i'm very honest with God--i tell Him, i pour out my heart, sometimes i could be crying cuz i'm that hurt or lonely, and i know He's there embracing me. I can't describe it, it's just something you need to experience. When i'm happy--i praise Him, giving Him all the glory, and i know He hears, cuz it's in line with His word.
Christianity EtcRe: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 11:33pm On Apr 26, 2006
You test every spirit, or what you perceive as a thought/ idea, by comparing it to the scriptures. Take for instance you want to go out, and you're scantily dressed, and you have a feeling telling you to change into something better/ more presentable--you can bet that's the Holy Spirit, though the bible didn't say don't wear short skirts, you can see that it's supporting the scripture that says your body is a temple, and hence must treat it well--which includes its appearance. If you have another feeling telling you "just go out, afterall if you've got it flaunt it" you know it's your flesh.

Another instance might be, you have certain friends that curse a lot and are a bad influence altogether, and "your mind" as people like to refer to it, tells you not to hang out with them, but you should make new friends--the bible didn't say you should not make friends, but that act alone supports the scriptures that say "evil communication corrupts good manners, (1 Cor 15:33)" and "blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked (Ps 1:1). If "another mind" says "haba! these have been your friends from childhood, or what's wrong with them?" you know that's not of God, so you can test the spirits using the bible, that's why the Christian must study the bible.

We all have our moments, and i can surely relate. Don't feel bad about it, He's your Father--you have nothing to be ashamed of. I'm still young, and i don't live with my parents, but when i was at home over the Christmas, my dad would ask questions like "where are you going? when will you be back? who's taking you?" regardless of the fact that i've been fending for myself for the last couple of years. I'm in his territory, so he has to do it. Much more God!!! be excited, at the same time, determine and desire to grow in the knowledge of this awesome God.

God just blessed me in my relationship, but after that i had the nerves to ask God "but how will this happen?" i clearly have seen His power, but the child in me still wonders, but don't be ashamed of it, it's better to be that way with God and still seek Him, hold Him tight, than to be that clueless with man.
Christianity EtcRe: Being Some-timish With God by dearzi(f): 11:13pm On Apr 26, 2006
I remember when i was writing my JSE (Junior seconday Exam), i don't know what i was expecting, but i told God that if He lets me pass the exam i'll buy Him a goat. Now i wonder what i was thinking, knowing now that the cattle on a thousand hill are His! foolishness of a child. Upon the promise i had one funny result like that! don't ask.

Don't be fooled, we all go through it, even old christians have struggles too, so you'll do well to know you're not alone in your struggle, but the bible says it's not by power, but by His Spirit (Zech 4:6). In this walk with God, what we need is His Spirit helping us. I heard Donnie Mcklurkin say something in his song We Fall Down, "he said don't make God any promises." So, don't, cuz by our own ability we can't do anything, but once you know it's by His grace and not your works or how you try to impress Him, you'll see yourself living for God.

Just embrace His spirit, the struggles have nothing to do with age, it's the flesh, so just walk in His Spirit--always pray, don't feel ashamed to pray about ANY issue, don't think it's too small to worry God about an issue, that's a lie from the pit of hell, God is interested in your every detail. I tell you, cuz this is what i practise also. You'll be shocked at what i tell Him. If somebody annoys me, so that i don't curse the person i lament to God! if i'm hurt, i tell Him, constantly be aware of His presence, that's the best that i can tell you to do, so you can be of one temperature for God--be aware of His presence, and study your bible, read good christian materials, listen to christian music, in short, surround yourself with things that promote God. You'll be fine, just be God conscious.
Christianity EtcRe: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 11:00pm On Apr 26, 2006
Sweetie, the bible says to test every spirit, you know the Holy Spirit cuz when He talks He talks in line with the bible, so start reading your bible to know and hear His voice. Some times you can ask a question, or something's bothering, and when He answers you can be like "that's not in the bible," but you can judge it when you know who He is-- one called along side to help you, to inspire you, to teach you, to give you peace. The things we think of can never give us peace, and the devil can't give you peace either. You can't go on how i've felt, but once you start seeing how He's operated in times past, you'll know Him better. But i tell you, it's the best thing that can happen in the Christian's life.

Experience Him for yourself. If you're not sure you have Him in you and with you, just pray and ask God for the Holy Spirit, and after that prayer believe you have recieved Him. Don't wait till you hear a voice shouting "Softee, Softee" the Holy Spirit's a gentleman, but sometimes, He can be a man of war.
Christianity EtcRe: Holy Spirit Feelings: What Are Your Experiences? by dearzi(f): 10:37pm On Apr 26, 2006
Girl, that's the best thing in life--i mean talking with the Holy Spirit, He's real, you can actually have conversations with Him. God's got a sense of humor. Like this morning, i was wondering where my fiance was, cuz the night before i'd watched "Lost World" or something like that, and Malone had gone missing, so i woke up wondering where my man was and all, and i was praying and stuff, and the Holy Spirit was like "girl, get a grip on yourself, your man's on the bus going home!" i had to laugh at my train of thoughts.

I mean, you'll know He's talking to you cuz He's on person that'll bluntly point out that you're doing something wrong. Like i have a friend that gives me agro, as she's obese and i have a hard time with her eating habits. So, when i see her, i get repulsed, and when i get that way, i hear a voice telling me "that i can love inspite of what i see or how i feel about an issue" and i feel bad and change my attitude about it. I know it's the Holy Spirit cuz when He speaks His words are in line with the word of God, and when you think well that's not in the scripture examine what He's said and what it has done for you--the words will give you peace, correct you, or heal you.

Sometimes, you can't feel Him, or expect to hear Him sound like thunder or whatever, and don't be fooled about that still small voice, cuz sometimes, in my stubborn moments i know He sharply calls me to order--that's no still small voice! being in His presence is wonderful, there's this serene, peaceful feeling you get, like a cool breeze, a warm arm enveloping you--i guess different strokes for different folks.

He's my best friend, i can tell Him anything and not be ashamed, with Him, i'm naked and unashamed, my life would not be worth living without Him. Holy Spirit, i love you--you give me joy, i just love Him. He's a friend that sticks closer than any brother,

Hey you guys, i think we should deal with these fears, cuz the things we fear seem to catch up with us. The only thing i can think of is praying about these things. Don't want to go all preachy here, but, Job feared he'll lose all he had, and he indeed did, cuz he said "that which i feared has come upon me" (Job 3:25).

I know the feeling of wanting to slash my wrist just cuz i'm holding a blade, but i think that one no be clear eye again, and wanting to jump off from some height, and the fear of death--we need to deal with these issues.

@Funloving: You're totally right. One can't get born-again to please a loved one.

Being born again is a personal relationship between you and God, it's not something you do in order to win a loved one back. If you do get born again, for all the right reasons, maybe things would eventually work out--you could both grow in the faith, cuz i've heard of couples that got saved and grew together in the faith, and are still together--who knows you might just be fortunate, but if not, don't worry there are A LOT of unborn again girls out there, but i'd advise you to be born again, it'll do you good.

Contrary to what people believe, being born again is not about rules, it's a way of life!
