It was simpler to follow and understand I could barely understand my language, so adding Arabic to it was painful--Christianity solved that for me ![]() The was something about Christianity that made you want to know about it, and i found out it was Jesus. When i heard about the man Christ, He was just too kind for my understanding, and there was just something about Him that captivated me, and that's how i converted. Since becoming a Christian, i've learnt that it's about relationship between God and myself. "I Dare to Call God Father," i enjoy communication with God. i know a peace that passess my understanding, i'm living right at least i'm learning how to, and it's just very easy. My life isn't what it was--i live my life with a purpose now, and i'm enjoying it. When i pray i know God hears me, it's just wonderful. The funny thing is no one per say, led me to Christ. I guess all the things i'd heard in passing had an effect. But hey! i'm born again, and i'm loving it. Would i do it again? YES! |
@TayoD Ehm! bros, what was your point when you made that statement? i'm just seeing it--you know how my waka be the last couple of weeks. Sha! what were you hinting at? that God told Okotie something like that? who knows, the prophecy might be for Okotie's son, if we're to go by your statement, cuz in another 50yrs, what makes you think Okotie would be alive? it might be to the house of Okotie! but how will it be fulfilled if Okotie doesn't have an heir? LOL, or does he? TayoD Okotie, the man get pickin? as you and am be like una relate! To the point of "maybe" or no "maybe" i still stand by it--that statement, rhetorical, hypothetical or otherwise, wasn't called for. Dude, i like you and respect you as a big brother, but no make us fight! honestly. |
@Ajia 23 I just have one question. Of what benefit is it to pray for the dead? afterall, they are already dead! what delight are they giving God that we spend so much energy, howbeit passive in a recital, praying peace over them? My bible makes me know that only the living can praise God. Only the living can bring God delight--when they praise. It clearly states the grave/ dead cannot praise Him, and thus can not delight Him. So why then bother? I think people pray at funerals for peace of mind! so it won't be like they didn't try to offer help or something to the dead! because there's no scriptural evidence supporting the praying for the dead or to the dead! Funerals are supposed to remind humans of their own mortality and put them in check. I believe words offered at funerals should do that. Spending time praying for the dead won't change anything. There's a group of Christians that pray to the dead--their doing so doesn't make it right--it is very wrong, and most unscriptural. Before someone points that the whole of Christianity exists because we pray to a dead prophet, allow me say "Jesus LIVES FOREVER" (Heb 7:24-25). Just to deviate a little. I cannot comprehend as to why ANY grown up man will look upon a child and think she's "ripe" for intercourse! it beats me! i'm making a broad generalization here! i see teenagers now, and i think they're too young for the things they delve into. Teenage girls are for teenage boys--not the older ones that should know better. So to now think/ assume prophet Mohammed had a child bride? that's something else. Whether the practise was acceptable then or not, doesn't make it right! he should have known better. That the sacrificing of children was ok in the Xth century doesn't make it right--"a prophet of God" ought to know better by insight or revelation! to imagine the horror that befall these little ones! please, make no excuses for it--what is wrong is wrong! think of what these young ones could've faced--cases of Vesicovaginal Fistula aka VVF! the mere thought of it is just appaling! please, make no excuse for it. Sorry if i take this personal, but from a feminine standpoint, i cannot begin to imagine any lady going through that, much more a child! |
TayoD Don't get me riled up--i can read English VERY well! that statement, was totally, totally, uncalled for! i can bet you can't see it! reminds me of someone else! ![]() |
About my boo, i didn't mean that in an erotic sense. |
I'm good at making people up (make-up artist), i'll hook your hair up in a heart beat, i can't play any instrument to save my life, aha! i'm good at miming/ mimics--i'm really good at that (well, so i've been told), i have good stage presence (don't know if that's a skill or not, but i'm comfortable in front of an audience, so long as i don't make a fool out of myself). I LOVE to cook. my new found skill is taking care of my boo--i think that's a talent! |
Let's see, what am i good at: I sing, i write, have good bed side manners (in the medical sense), i'm a good listener (even when i'm sleeping, since i don't snore the person on the other side of the phone doesn't know i'm dozing ), i take good pictures, i'm a good friend.lol. |
TayoD I take it very personal your reference to my pastors or the people in my life as liars--i'm not going to ask you to apologise, i really don't care of you do or not, but, i resent that statement. I've not accused Okotie of lieing, i've only said i'm not going to buy everything he says--that's my point of view! As for the rest of what you've said--whatever makes you sleep well, i'm happy for you. This forum has not been to justify the righteousness of Okotie, it's been to express your P.O.V. which's what i've done from the get go! that you'll turn around and point fingers, is darn low! if i will say the least! i'm pretty pissed off, and na respect na im make me no yarn finish (it's out of respect to you i'm holding my tongue). |
TayoD You're back, and you can't call?? sha! that aside! that the scripture was referring to a Bishop doesn't necessarily mean it's only Bishops that need to be married--every person in the position of leadership has to show example with his own home! so you suggest a pastor be single as well? for how long? is Okotie a Eunuch? who will counsel the single, Hot sisters out to bring shame to his door?? is that not where the wife comes in? shouldn't he minister to men, and a female minister to ladies? which is what most wives of pastora do--see to the welfare etc of both pastor and ministry. You're so quick to judge his wife--is it not his side of the story we know? the man is constantly telling people his own side, i'm sure you will say he has nothing to hide! yeah right! to me, there's more than meets the eye! the bible clearly rejects divorce. Matthew lets us know that it's only in the case of fornication/ adultery you can put away your spouse, otherwise scripture plainly tells us that "God hates putting away! aka divorce" does the same scripture not say "do not despise the wife of thy youth?" doesn't God know how to reach a recalictrant spouse? that He will so graciously allow Okotie chase out his wife? please! i don't think he was doing the way of the master when he put her out! e-wife or not! For a smart guy, and one so familiar with the scripture, your arguments baffle me! i think you're clearly taken in by this guy! and you've chopped his whole theology hook, line and sinker! aint nobody persecuting Okotie! what is persecution sef? that we don't want him for president?? did you not see/ read of persecution in your Bible? people were killed and stuff for Christ, not spoken against for running for president! plus, last time i checked, we were a democratic country--and hey! we can say whatever pleases us! (hopefully we can get away with it!) As for the case of David and Solomon, they sure were men of God, and we can see they were HEAVILY married, and ruled over much! with wisdom! at this point, i'm not saying Okotie shouldn't run, let him start on a smaller scale, his church is too small, let him increase in members, then run for other things before setting his eyes on the national seat! in the mean time, he should get married--i'm sure they are some ladies who don't mind all the gramar, and won't mind the hair grease! One last thing, he should let go of all that big English--it don't fool nobody, except people who are easily impressed by such grandiose! Paul said When i came unto you, i didn't come with Eloquence of man's wisdom (big big gramar) but with demonstration of the Spirit and Power--of which i've not seen Okotie do either! "SELAH!" |
Mariory I will vote for your daddy too, LOL. he should just remember to make me a minister of health, or something--i really would like that! ![]() |
TayoD (when you get back) I had problems responding since, cuz i couldn't sign on from my phone for some crazy reason! sha! Me, i doubt the sincerity of Chris Okotie, especially when you try to paint him as some guy who's trying to do the right thing. Politics is a dirty game, a thinking game, you've got to strategize and stuff, and now that i think about it, i think that Okotie's move on calling out pastor Chris was another of such strategic moves, to make him appear so self righteous! make him look like he abhors evil and bla bla bla, and i think that move really worked, as you seem to have bought his righteous move hook, line and sinker. No matter how good and righteous you think he is, i don't think he's fit to be a president of Nigeria, he should continue to preside over his church. What are his body guards doing with machine guns? why does he need such heavy protection? who wants to kill him that he needs all that ammunition? at the end of the day, God will raise who He will raise. |
@Tolulope Firstly, there's nothing like "common sense," and the so called "common sense" is relative to culture and environment, and in this case it's not applicable. What people are applying here is LOGIC! TayoD Yeah! at some point my beef with Okotie was his trying to take down a ministry that's larger than him or his perceived calling from God, which in my opinion was a publicity stunt. But i've since moved on from that. I've tried to see the man with different eyes, but it's just not working! i will NEVER agree that Okotie is a teacher, much more "teacher of teachers." So that you don't say God used David, remember David was a man after God's heart--he was a shepherd, willing to face lions, and bears for his flock, but Okotie, i strongly doubt it, that you have his cell phone number doens't make him a shepherd! the church is too small for them not to have his number, and for him not to be available to them. He'll do better as an English professor or something, but i think he should leave the gospel and politics alone. Like i said in the past, if God really called him, He will put him there, somehow--that's the only sign that will change my opinion slightly. Okotie doesn't pay my bills, nor has he said anything that has made an impact in my life, so he's really of no significance to me. I doubt that you're well read, but now i wonder what you've read and who you've read--if it's the same Okotie, baby, that don't count! REM sleep cycle is a cycle of waking and sleeping--the process of falling asleep and all that it involves, and it occures in stages. You can google it, and you'll find a better explanation. As for me o! i'm tired of this topic. Bottom line is, i don't support Okotie for president. |
TayoD You know i love you and all, but please, don't belittle other pastors, who in my opinion have the word of God and Spirit in greater abundance than Chris Okotie has and ever exercised, by calling him "teacher of teachers." I take personal offence to that. I've thought long and hard on what you said about him teaching the fundamentals of Christ and the bread of life and all, but after that nko? shouldn't the Christian know how to live the life of Christ? what good is knowing about the bread of life and not knowing how to use the life He's given to us? abi eat of the bread? the bible says we should leave the elementary teachings and go unto maturity (Heb 6:1). I still don't support Okotie. I have been in REM cycle since, waiting for a word from God about election, and if it is taking me this long to hear from God--i need to question Okotie on how he got his own. |
Halleluyah! Oh what refreshing we experience when we spend time praying in other tongues. This is the rest, yet they will not hear. My dear, It is the occult that copy things from the church and not the other way round. So True. |
1) Pay my tithe 2) Remove college funds 3) Stay some away in a personal account, and vow not to touch it. 4) Start a fund for my unborn children Hold Up, it's a grant, why are we spending it on self? Sha! (5) Donate some of the money to Rescue missions (they feed the poor and homeless on the streets of Minnneapolis), donate another portion to Inner City Missions (they educate and feed the poor) 6) Be a secret santa in May, for some folks i know are really in need. When i think i've done enough good deeds, i'll take my baby sister out and we'll go shop for whatever else we can buy for ourselves On a serious note, i think i'd like to have a councelling center for people in abusive relationships, and some other personal emotional issues close to my heart (your privacy will be guranteed). I won't need to pay the counsellors, cuz like me, they'll want to volunteer their time to talk with and encourage these people (mostly ladies). It'll also be a good opportunity for Psych majors or Health Majors to do their internships--it'll look on their resume, so i won't need to pay them, but there'll be rewards every now and then. If the center's vistors have run into a hard time, help them out with a little starting off something. If they've got kids, and are in need, help them out with tuition, like scholarship programs, and basic essentials, so long as we can keep on getting funds for it. |
To the Christian, the Bible is, or ought to be the FINAL authority concerning any situation. Anything outside that, Christians--not religious church goers, is perverted truth. God's not a man that He should lie, so if it's not His word, then that "truth" or "fact" is a lie. ![]() |
@Kellybaba I don't deny that those things happen, but can you please tell me how it is a sign of demotion? how do we come by the interpretations of our dreams? when i dream, thank God for discernment, if it is a dream that bothers me i take care of it. If the Holy Spirit doesn't lay an interpretation of that dream on my heart i just treat it as what it is. There are dreams i forget to pray about, and when i get the constant reminder in my spirit i know it's something to take care of. So, my question is: how do people generally come about their interpretations? some dreams are just an expression of our mind's over activity or concerns or something! but we have to spiritualize it! people go to bed with concerns and they dream, and they say it is spiritual attack in the dream! i'm not trying to refute the existence of spiritual attacks--not possible. I've dreamt of beating koko out of somebody before--that one i know was spiritual cuz during the fight i was praying, and i woke up praying (mind you, i didn't know the person from Adam, and there was no one i had beef with to express the dream as one where i was expressing my desire to deal with anyone). I just want to understand how people come by the interpretations of their dreams. And the dream of the uniform, please explain how you know it is a demotion? How is that different from a person having personal concerns about educational issues, and the mind working up and expressing those fears in that format? why does it have to mean demotion? anyone, please explain to me how you come to conclude a thing like that. Did a demon reveal that that's what it means in their realm? |
@ Tolulope I'm very happy to read your unbiased account of his church. So, really he doesn't have a choir? lol, honestly, i didn't know! i thought people just made that stuff up. As for the ministers--i've seen some on TV. Well, i have my opinions, and i'm stuck with them, i've not seen what's going to change my mind. So, y'all don't even try. At the end of the day, i still don't want Chris Okotie for president. Since God's spoken to him, i'll ask Him to speak to me too, afterall i'm also born again, so that i can run for office. |
@Seun YOU want to reign down fire and limestone abi brimestone on a child of God? have you heard of "touch not babies?" i'm one of them!! did you hear of what God did to the prophets of baal?? don't worry--meet me on the mountain, and we will see who will bring down the fire! Like i said, the things of the Spirit WILL never make sense to a carnal minded person, so if you're one, well! |
How convenient to lump all of mankind into the word "man" Now "man is God" wonders! women were still taken out of man o! so women too are God! afterall, we're all made in His image. |
@GL I remember when i started speaking in tongues, it was at an outreach program. No one laid hands on me, or prayed for me to receive anything. I actually thought i was mimicking my older brother beside me. When i got home the next day i called my mum to come and hear me imitating my brother's tongues, and she was like "are you sure you're not speaking it?" and for a long time i was stuck with the same words, and as i grew so did my spiritual vocab. I speak in tongues, and i'm not embarrassed about it. It helps me especially when i need to pray and put my world in order--when the tongues of men fail me, the spirit kicks in. |
Bolex, why are you answering Seun or whoever? the last time i checked Nwoke/ Seun was an atheist. The things of the spirit WILL NEVER make sense to a carnal minded person. So, you leave them to stumble in the darkness of their wisdom. It was "know know" that led the Jews to kill the Messiah! so leave those who know "facts" alone. Faith is a personal thing, to each his own. |
Seun, Nwoke? which one of you is this? is this the same person? God o! isn't this split personality? |
Ajisafe my friend, i've missed you o! and don't get too close to Afeni, he will undo the good works of the past couple of days. You've been good since. Afeni and Jagunlabi are either of you bible beliving Christians? are you a Christian at all? Paul said something i love "that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men" 1 Cor 2:5. It doesn't matter whether men understand or not--cuz "howbeit when we speak we speak wisdom, the wisdom of God in a mystery (1 Cor 2:6-15). When you speak in tongues, you don't speak unto men (1 Cor 14:2). Speaking in tongues is an evidence of a believer (Mk 16:17). Acts 2:4 Speaking in tongues is a spiritual language. It's a language for the born again child to communicate with God. It's like speaking your native dialect, and that's the dialect of God's kingdom. Nothing holds you to start speaking it, you develop it and the more you speak the more your vocabulary expands. When you get born again and are filled with the Holy Spirit, you receive it. Don't ask me why everyone doesn't speak in tongues, that'll fall under the category of why doesn't everyone get healed. Do i speak in tongues? YES, happily sef, i don't waste time! when i speak in tongues i enbolden myself (Jude 1:20). When alarm is trying to blow me (moments of panic) i speak in tongues and i take control of my world from my spirit. If you don't speak in tongues i'd advise that you desire it and pray thaat you receive it--it will help you grow in your Christian walk. |
@Dominobaby Thanks, you've got my blushing from ear to ear--which i think would appear as a spiritual attack, cuz i can't stop! i'm sure somebody's trying "to do me from my village" ![]() |
Birdman, so it was you?? i saw you on a broom stick! |
LOL, i'm still writing my paper--i can do all things through Christ. ![]() Of course the church will have his cell phone number, when there're like 20 of them! when pastor Bimbo died, i cried too, don't mean i should go and delve into her history! sha!!! No to Chris Okotie. When he was a musician i didn't like his music either--i doubt he'll ever impress me there, cuz i'm a music critic. I heard him sing for the promotion of his 2007 campaign or church campaign, i only watched cuz i was in awe of how one man'd feel like such a super star. i don't think the man is humble o! i think that's just false humility. The way he lives his life is between him and his God, as a human i can't be impressed by him, unless God makes me see something else. Prophet? where? how? TayoD, please, i need to understand what this man has done to you o! i'm concerned. I'm also a prophet, that's why i saw beyond his interview--campaign stategy. Yes, o! God gives the increase, and we know that this generation we're for sign and wonder--i guess Okotie's fulfiling scripture, i really wonder about him. See, where the Spirit of God was, Peter won over 3000 converts in one meeting, we didn't see him do anything major like that again o! but i've not seen Pastor Okotie do one meeting for souls outreach. Nothing! how's he going to then minister to Nigeria? by giving us his cell phone number? Yes, now that you and your friends have left the church, the church's dropped in members! i've not heard of his members having great testimonies, but you hear those of other ministries--healing the sick etc. nothing from his church. And his quote is very unoriginal and wrong, cuz Jesus said "the works that i do, greater works will you do also." so, he's supposed to be great with a good testimony and worthy of emulation. Shin shin, i never hear or see! Gone back to my paper.[sub][/sub] |
TayoD, shei you've seen! because of you and Pastor Okotie i missed the first 10mins of my pastor's program! there's no way i'm going to vote for him now! ![]() |
i won't be shocked if it's a man that conducted the research, if it was conducted at all. |
LOL, TayoD Okotie! i'm sure this man is your cousin, lol. Yeah, there's no scriptural backing that says we should erect churches all over the place, but a sign of growth's in numbers, i don't think that church has grown beyond what i last saw on tv. You know the scriptures more than i do, but you know Paul monitored the churchs in Ephesus, Antioch and co, to me, that shows that it's in God's plan for us to reach our world with the gospel. You raise people and send them to take their world for Christ, and they start up and grow. I've never seen anyone whose church he's gone to see how they're doing? or whatever. They don't have to be mushroom churches everywhere, like RCCG and my church, but there has to be growth--numerical growth. On the same street of his church, i find more people turning into Daystar than Household--no growth there baby. None. Besides, we're given the great commission to take the gospel to all the world, not just those small congregation we're comfortable with. To me, i think he wants to be able to monitor all the people that comes in and out of his church. It's all a control thing. In an interview he said as much, that was when i was still back home though! he said he wants to monitor them, and with bigger churches he won't have control! please! if he can only control a small congregation, then imagine our great Naija! I don't think RMD is demonic o! but i won't leave my child with him, lol. so for him to be a minister! ah! what's he going to teach my child? and Jumobi is what? the worship leader? lol. No, (pardon my pidgin) my spirit no just gree the man! at all, i have issues with him. As for him teaching Pastor Bimbo and co, i'm sure there's more to that story. I read his interview, and i was enraged! the woman had not even been cold in the grave and he was bragging about how he taught them what they know. Anslem Madubuko is who again? which church? honestly can't remember, though the name rings a bell. If he was such a mentor to Bimbo Odukoya, can you explain her more greater ties to RCCG? TayoD--in love o! i don't agree with Pastor Okotie! i've never been this passionate about a "man of God" like this! No!! No Okotie for 2007!!! Remind me again why we're arguing about him again? he's not going to win! unless o! God puts him there! if he becomes president, then i will be like Thomas, and believe because i have seen. Ehm!! you better still love me o! though, lol, i don't want Chris Okotie. |

TayoD, shei you've seen! because of you and Pastor Okotie i missed the first 10mins of my pastor's program! there's no way i'm going to vote for him now!
