The following are from the NNPC's website.
You can see the first screenshot shows the latest update of Monthly Petroleum Information.
The second screenshot shows that the last actual report was for the THIRD QUARTER of 2014; there has been NO REPORT for 2015. Therefore anyone asking for official figures- especially with the disclaimers the NNPC attaches to it's reports- is going to be disappointed.
But it's been reported that the government has ordered a total of 180,000 tons of pms for Q4 of 2015.
Calculate how much that comes to daily.

Do some research, before you insult people for no just reason.

I would've been humbled, but relieved and gratified if you'd countered my questions with facts, rather than insults.
Besides, my post is a rejoinder to the post that actually gave the link-
http://www.punchng.com/business/business- economy/subsidy-on-petrol-falls-to-n576m-daily/

No matter. Moving on.
I've spent 5 minutes on google in order to get a second link as requested, since the NNPC's website only has information for previous years and ALL it"s reports contain disclaimers about the figures-

http://naija247news.com/2015/08/nigerias-local-refinery-woes-deepens-as-fuel-importation-continues-in-q3/

Now that your rage has been assuaged- assuming you read the article in the above link, could you please focus on the questions I asked?

Lastly, please ensure that while you express your 'freedom of expression', you avoid causing innocent readers unnecessary distress with bad grammar.
Thanks.

Other links to follow shortly.

It's silly to say 'things will get better', unless you can back that up with a government plan that you may be privy to.

(An aside- we no dey get light again o. Whagwan now?)

Who leaves a surgery patient on the table to go chase after people who stole fuel money for the ambulance?
The patient is ready but the surgeon only has an anaesthetist- who's put the patient to sleep already- without a nurse or any assisting surgeon. Isn't that insanity?
We all expected the economy to receive emergency treatment; imagine how bemused most Nigerians are now- gmb couldn't even submit a full ministerial list! After 4 months!!
In a state of emergency!!!
Shuu...
My surprization.
So even the CPC guys who've been with him for over a decade can't be trusted? Or are they only northerners? If so, where did he plan to get ministers from if he'd won in 2003?
What of the entire private sector- nobody?
Really?

Back to topic:
Buhari denied knowledge of subsidy, hence the crash in naira in early May, due to scarcity and rushed borrowing to pay off marketers. Remember?
He's told us all that he can't use the 2015 budget, hence no economic activity this year. So those who've been waiting for contracts- you're waiting in vain, as far as 2015 is conserned.

No govt projects= no spending -> increase in foreign reserve. But is it true that the reserves are now falling?
If so: Kasala...

Meanwhile, to those shouting about local production and importing '80% of everything':
What does Saudi Arabia produce- LOCALLY FOR EXPORT apart from crude oil? Where do they get food, drink, clothes, cars, phones, fridges, even PAPER?
Are they 'made in saudi'?
I go like hear answer.

There's an article stating that 'Subsidy On Petrol Falls To N576m Daily'.
A welcome development.
But-
Why do I get the impression that we're being led by the nose?
What ever happened to documented evidence? I expect there are invoices and receipts to show what comes in each month.
But 40 million liters?
In an economic downturn?
Exactly 40 MILLION- still?!
Haba!
Why can't the NNPC just publish the total for each month of the last quarter, as well as the marketers, tonnage, value, shippers and dates? Or do they? I no see am, na hin make I dey ask.
Isn't transparency the reason why NOI published all monthly allocations?
Isn't transparency one of the key elements of 'putting structures in place' to ensure strong institutions?
Does Kachikwu need to be ADVISED that this is good, even necessary practice?
Please, someone should tell the man to do the needful and publish those documents, abeg.
'Nuff said.

Meanwhile, why can't both the marketers and shippers accept crude as payment instead of dollars?
Wouldn't that relieve pressure on the naira? Unless they (hopefully) already do so?
Just wondering...

Business › Re: Is There Profit In Recharge Card Sales Presently In Nigeria? by debaj10: 8:24pm On Oct 02, 2015
Hi.
I speak from personal and current experience.
There will always be naysayers! So long as you plan well and manage your operation, you'll succeed.
The profit margin fromrecharge cards is small at 4-8% but the turnover in your target area matters.
Some people sell 40-50k retail weekdays, some (fewer)daily. But these are in VERY high traffic areas o!

Just follow a few rules:
- Never sell on credit; cash only.
- Your family n friends are customers; they must pay upfront.
- Multiple sources of income is a must: add provisions, drinks, dvds, download/browsing on a pc/lapi, clothing- especially female.
- monitor your margins and expenses.
- like it or not, you need to do a market survey to show it's feasible AND viable.
Start small, advertise inthe whole area, do promos in a 'launch', etc.
Search online for tips on running a small business.
Good luck

Where do u work? Help out the females there, they'll link you up.
Where do you worship? Join a society there, the sisters will link you up.
Where do you live? Help out at or organise community events like football or board-game leagues for the kids, their parents will link you up.
- Do you go to your residents' association meeting? Join their functions, the landlords will link you up!
What sports do you do? Join up with a few friends and they'll link you up.
What (super) market do you shop at? Become a regular over the next 2 weeks and the staff (ladies) will link you up.
When was the last time you chatted with an old (primary, secondary or university) school mate? See how many people you know?
Why not make it a family project- tell your parents and siblings that you're looking for a lady for a (serious) relationship- See how your peeps will organise- e go fear you! But you know most of us don't go through them, 'cos we're looking for fun- not until 'water don pass garri' before we get our heads straight! cheesy

Of course, any 2 projects above will be a good start, but these are ideas that you need to invest time in (2 OR MORE WEEKS)- and a little bit of money. But mostly, you're interacting with people whom you ALREADY KNOW, so confidence shouldn't be an issue.

Meanwhile-
How many social events do you attend in a week? How many of your friends/colleagues do you go to visit at home? How many people in your work/home life do you give gifts IN PERSON on their birthday?
And this is all outside the usual social hangouts- clubs, parties, cinemas, shopping centers, parks, museums, THE BEACHES OF LAGOS (daytime o!), even at bus stops- in nice areas. wink

Remember- ALWAYS smile, greet, acknowledge, be polite and courteous, help out and give a good first impression.

Goodluck!

Politics › What's Up With The Ccb? by debaj10(op): 8:23pm On Sep 24, 2015
I know Saraki's all the rage right now, trending in all social media portals, due to his palaver at the Code of Conduct Bureau.
Personally, I think all political office holders since independence- and their family members- should be 'asked' to return monies they (definitely) 'took' while in office. And any who took our money abroad should be locked up- primarily for denying us the benefits of the funds working in Nigeria for Nigerians.
Anyhow, that's just me.
But I've got a few questions regarding their operations-

1. I thought they were supposed to release Buhari's authorised assets declaration file? What happened? Did I miss it? Or are we meant to simply accept the list that one of his minions read out to the press? Abi 100 days neva pas for ccb syd?

2. How do they really operate- How do they tackle cases, if a 13 year old case is among the first few they seem to be pursuing in the anti-corruption war?

3. What other on-going investigations do they have- from Saraki's time?

4. Is it true that during their investigations they were supposed to inform Saraki of any discrepancies in his declaration and request a response to any allegations in writing?

5. I read in Wednesday's Vanguard that if he'd actually written to CCB acknowledging his 'faults' that the matter was supposed to die there. Is that true?

6. Is this the same kind of loophole that Tinubu used to escape prosecution?

7. Is it true that the heads of the CCB and EFCC have questions to answer regarding their personal conduct and integrity?

Whatever the truth, you and I know he'll get out of it. But I hope this isn't the reason for delaying the ministerial list till the last minute o! 'Cos I don't understand why Buhari can't just get 36 people he 'trusts' from his CPC days.
...so dat make pepe rest.
Politics › Debate: An Open Letter To Passingshot And Severusnape (re-posted) by debaj10(op): 9:27am On Sep 13, 2015
*Modified: I suggest we make this a week-long affair, starting today till midnight on Saturday, 19/09/2015.

Hi guys.
You're perhaps the most vociferous supporters of the two main political parties in our beloved Nigeria.
I'd like to ask a few questions which- I'm sure- most of us on nl need answers to.
This is meant to be a clean, adult, INTELLIGENT discourse; if you feel the need to throw barbs and/or insults- don't.

I'll start with the following premise:

1. The buck (meaning the consequences of ALL DECISION-MAKING) stops at the president's desk.
2. However the Commander-In-Chief chooses to conduct his government, he really can't give 'excuses'.
3. Nigerians reserve the right to hold the president accountable for his and his party's utterances/actions.
4. There must be a clear distinction between blaming others and apologising for short-comings.

With the above therefore, we can all agree with the following:

1. The PDP was corrupt.
2. Though Jonathan worked, his government was also quite corrupt- as the C-In-C, he's to blame.
3. His conceding to Buhari was both unprecedented and fortunate for us all.
4. The economic slide began in his tenure.
5. Since May 29 2015, we've had a new government.
6. The government made campaign promises, or at the very least, had a manifesto.

Now, whatever the reasons behind the above, I'm sure we can agree (perhaps only grudgingly) that they are 'barebone' facts.

Now, my questions:
1. List GMB's main campaign promises- both personal and party-led?
2. What were the economic policies he planned to/ discussed how to pursue?
3. Based on 1 and 2, what steps has he taken SO FAR to meet EACH of the items you list?
4. What (documentary) evidence can be used to support 3?
5. What direction can you show the nation is now heading regarding the following:
- Security
- Micro and macro economy
- Education
- Healthcare
6. A claim could be made about following the much touted 'international best practice' in governance; compare and contrast our experience so far under GMB- with explicit, detailed points.
----------------------------

THE RULES

Each one of you should start a thread on the six items above as proponent or opponent, as follows:
RE: An open letter to Passingshot and Severusnape- A Debate: A PROPONENT; or
RE: An open letter to Passingshot and Severusnape- A Debate: AN OPPONENT

You may each respond ON YOUR OWN THREAD, to any point made by your opposite by quoting them.

You're to present all answers and rebuttals with EVIDENCE; if you can't back your claim, refrain from conjecture or any form of a 'blame game'- concede and move on to the next issue.

---------------------------

For the ease of communication, I beg the indulgence of all OTHER Nairalanders- please refrain from commenting on their threads above. We're meant to be the audience. Place your posts on THIS thread instead by quoting what you wish to comment on.

Politics › Re: See How Vice President Osinbajo Blasts Northern Leaders by debaj10: 9:02am On Sep 13, 2015
You really expect the north to agree to your proposal?
Did you miss the entire national conference and the hullabaloo over state allocations?
Despite all the military rule when they had fiat to do WHATEVER they wanted, did they develop the north?
And even if you lack funds to build roads, hospitals, even schools- did they bother to educate their people, even if it's under mango trees?
If they did would 'almajiris' agree to be used as canon fodder in religious crises?
(Funny though- most of them can recite the Quran, but don't know how to count...)
The problem has never been the north; the problem has been the norther elite. Or mafia. Or 'caliphate'.

Anyway, however vociferous you/I/we ALL are, they now hold the power.

orisa37:
The VP blasts no one. He has just re-explained the FACTS! To help him realise his aims, the 36states should be made more autonomous by allowing them to be fully responsible for the sources and applications of Funds in their states. And by strict compliance with the constitutional provisions of Nigeria, PAY NOT MORE OR LESS THAN 40% OF ALL STATES FUNDS TO THE FG. Then the FG can use its own Funds, the agregate of the 40% from each state of the Federation to play a BALANCING acts in the economy, education, social, political etc of every state of the Federation. Afterall, the FG is still responsible for external and internal securities; army and police; audit and accounts etc, so what on earth is the husstles and the problems, that the biafrans, bokoharams, the militants etc will not let Azikiwe, Awo, Ahmadu Bello etc rest in peace?
Politics › Re: Saving Our Economy- Crude Oil, Part 2: Oil Partnerships (a la Olu Falae!) by debaj10(op): 8:34am On Sep 13, 2015
I'm yet to see a developed nation whose government runs any profit-making firm, not even the petroleum sector- and this includes China.
FIRS will make significant impact, but remember- our economy relies on oil and imports. Oil prices falling, nations not buying, imports dwindling. I've begun to see shops in my area close down. So if the economy weakens, you'll be collecting very little tax from nothing.
And the rich are the most inventive in hiding their wealth; the UK government has been chasing wealthy Brits for DECADES with very little effect! So expecting to get more tax out of the rich is a fool's errand.

Government has no business subsidizing refined products. Collect your tax, strengthen institutions and use the increased revenue from high petrol/kerosene price to fund your welfare programs- free healthcare, mass housing, world-class public transportation system, pension reforms. If Buhari is serious, that's what he'll do. ASAP. And these things only cost what it takes to make a policy statement.
But if he's still wary about subsidies, then he should IMMEDIATELY enter into talks with nations that will refine for us and take crude as payment. I read that we used to have such an arrangement before with VENEZUELA!
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/06/nigerias-daily-fuel-subsidy-drops-to-n1-8-billion/

What happened?! Why did they stop it?
