Stop with the hyperventilation. Every nation and tribe has bigots and tribalists. Check the BBC for gang violence and knife crime. Check CNN for drug barons and child pornography. Search any nation for ethnic or religious conflict- Google is your friend. Most people who've commented on this topic have only displayed the limited intelligence of the masses; no different from the masses in even the most advanced nations. How many posts ask questions of the relevant authorities- 2? 3? How many of you have laid the blame squarely at the feet of the minister of health- who's living large, by the way? How many of you have publicised details of actions being taken by your communities/local authorities to combat this contagion? You didn't ask buhari to account for the dead when he should have taken action instead of spending YOUR money abroad, yet your focus is on who can dish out the best insults? But it's not your fault. If you knew better, you'd do better. Menzy86:@Menzy86: And as for you, stop wishing for silly powers and use the one you've got. Make a change on your street, your town, your LGA. Anything less makes your a hypocrite, k? |

Most of us are completely unaware that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAS CHANGED since colonial times! We complain, criticize and 'hustle', but we're just running on the spot- all motion, no movement. Our so-called 'constitution' still has BRITISH laws in there- with ancient British currency listed as fines- in SHILLINGS AND HALF-PENNIES!! That document was simply handed down, modified for 1960, handed down again and modified for 1999. We, the citizens of this nation have never drawn up or approved of our OWN constitution- And that's exactly how the elite like it, because the Nigerian 'constitution' only favours the wealthy and privileged- just like in both the Colonial and military eras. So, the question is simple: Would you rather be a slave living in safety, or a free man struggling on his own terms? Me, I've never heard of anyone who got rich while in slavery. But every truly free man can chart his own path. |

Why, in almost 2 years, are our refineries still moribund? Why is the govt providing forex for school and medical fees? (- Is that not educational and medical tourism?) The quote below is from an article on the much-vaunted modular refineries. If the information is true, then- Why haven't any been built? Why hasn't the govt partnered with those who were given licenses and paid for them, with a simple repayment/hire-purchase plan? Considering how much HARD CURRENCY we spend on importing petrol, kerosene, diesel, etc: In over 20 months of the APC, Why haven't the existing refineries been renovated? 18 months, more or less, to set up a modular refinery. $200million, more or less, to build a 10000 bpd plant. But. Instead of this: Over $300million spent this week alone to supply RICH PEOPLE with dollars for their children's fees. OVER $600MILLION SPENT THIS YEAR TO DEFEND THE NAIRA. When hundreds of thousands should have been employed in the NUMEROUS ancillary jobs required to build these plants: Machinists, architects, mechanics, welders, brick-layers, drivers, transporters, food vendors [fish sellers, mama put, bread and gala hawkers, farmers and butchers]; construction workers for [buildings, roads, bridges, etc], office staff- [accountants, HR, engineers, graduate trainees, staff for new bank branches, medical staff for new clinics]; vulcanizers, staff for new petrol stations, new markets, expansion staff for telecoms networks, new security personnel, new vehicles- cars, bikes, boats, trucks... And on, and on, and on. Yet, the poor and marginalised come online to fight themselves. Such foolishness. EVERY REVOLUTION has ALWAYS been about the RICH versus the poor. The entitled and the privileged few versus the masses. This was true in Russia, China, France, The Phillipines, America and South Africa. You can feed on scraps. Or you can take what's yours. Na una sabi. "Modular mini-refineries (which can be as small as 1,000 bpd nameplate capacity) typically have the advantage of being located close to their source of crude oil, thus minimising logistics and distribution costs. Plant modules can also be joined together to create a much larger refinery of 100,000 bpd or more, should demand dictate. This approach has already been successfully applied in locations such as Kurdistan, Indonesia, West Africa and West Siberia.http://www.oilandgasnewsworldwide.com/Article/41338/Mini-refineries_show_that_small_is_beautiful |
First, don't dare go to her place uninvited. Seizing her property by force will land you in prison. That's the law. Here are the things you do, 'cos it needs many things happening at the same time- Google Blitzkrieg. 1. Hope you have proof of your work, else you might simply be wasting your time. 2. Proof: Phone logs- calls, text, pix you might have taken (how possible to have kept all those?). 3. Write her a formal letter stating all the records, listing events as they happened and the proof you have. Let her know how you're going to use the information below to circulate your letter. 4. Copy in the letter to the police, people you know she respects, her religious community, a few local papers and the Lagos state Citizens' Mediation Center. 5. Search for local facilities: courts, free legal representation and traditional+local govt authorities. List them and describe how you'll be contacting them. 6. Social media is your friend. She knows people on FB, etc. 7. Set a deadline for her response. 8. On the day you know she gets the letter, turn off your phone. 9. 24 hours later, post a few chats on fb, whatsapp or bbm with people who know her. Just off-handed remarks about her, without mentioning the case. 10. DO NOT CONTACT HER FOR ANY REASON, OR ANSWER HER CALLS. 11. Make sure you have a phone that can record calls; or download the app. Record EVERYTHING. 12. At the worst, una go meet for area for nbr 4 or 5. Good luck. Godspeed. |
See problem. You post a job ad with all the required information. They won't read it, just copy phone number. Then they'll spend their provider's hard-earned money to call and ask 'jamb questions'. Meanwhile, na geography e read o, but e wan go do construction engineer. Hear am- "After all, dem go give me training, now. Besides, d two courses relate". ...as in... How will they scale through interview, when they can't tell you about the job they applied for. (come see how adults dey turn stammerers!) We never even enter GMAT or GRE. Who didn't pay attention to job advert will know answer abi? How, if by a miracle (or leg, after all man must know man) they scale through, will they then read contract or agreement? Anyhow, we go sha wash am (barman, were orijin dey now?!). Finally finally, dem com start work. Hallelujah. Only... Na who no prepare well for interview you expect to do beta work? Who side. Employers, beware. You've been warned. |
^^ To those children 'hating' political parties- People you know, love and respect are in BOTH of them. silliness... On to the topic: Excuse me, Does anyone know where the NLC is? I'm a bit confused. Maybe it's time for all it's affiliates to stop paying their 'dues'. I expect all the staff each signed a contract of employment. Has the industrial court of arbitration ceased to exist? Which leads to the segue way below: I intend to start a thread later along these lines, but in the meantime- What's wrong with Lawyers in Nigeria? Never heard of 'class action' before? Are they too lazy, or just dumb? ...Or lazy AND dumb? Maybe if we all insult them enough, they'll begin to use their parents' hard-earned fees to make money. Or not. Flame me all you want. #dumblawyersof9ja As for the workers, if you go back to your jobs without setting some clear, strong terms regarding your conditions and termination guidelines, then you're all ...nincompoops |

OTDR:Na wa o. What ever happened to the common sense behind verifying information? Abi if you employ someone who claims to have the required qualification, who do you fault if they don't and end up causing you or your business harm? We're talking of the president's pedigree; wherever he says he got it from, should we simply swallow a 'Shikago' or 'Toronto' hook line and sinker? Wetin dey do your small mind? |
Yes, it's hard work. True, it demands your complete focus. Again, the hours are long. Here's the problem- Things have gotten much worse. Prices have gone up and you want your customers to keep coming to you. How do you compete with a large store/mall that buys huge stocks, gets large discounts and offers a much, much larger variety than you do? With the naira so low? And imports dwindling? Only one real-world answer: You tighten your belt and you work even harder to stay afloat. |
... Actually, my interest was piqued by the claim of the war college equivalent, so I did a google search- https://www.google.com/search?q=is+United+States+Army+War+College+equivalent+to+phd%3F&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 Hm. Upon graduating, you get a MASTERS degree. This is actually getting interesting. How long did Buhari attend the college for? If it was for a year as stated by egift, what does his certificate state as his award? I'm sure the information's somewhere in Nairaland. Can someone please help fish it out? Thanks in advance. |
egift:My point was just that I didn't hear of him getting a masters degree. Abi dat one no dey come before doctorate again? Maybe he also has the 'military' equivalent? From the college he attended before the US War tins? Can anyone clarify? Cheers! PS: I know some people will try and denigrate doctorates. But before you do, please go and find out what it takes to get one. There's a reason why it's required as the minimum for most academic staff in developed nations, despite all the noise we here make about 'technical skills'. I think this analogy has been made somewhere before: How does 30 years of experience fixing old puegeot 504 cars provide the expertise for a 2015 honda? In a world so complex that experts in every field easily get misled, how does an 'old dog' cope in decision-making? Just saying... |
I sincerely hope you're not guilty of any of the listed failings. I take that back. If you were, now you know what to do- if you want a job. Don't you? |
1. You refuse to read through the job ad. 2. You call/text/email multiple companies without bothering to change your message (one silly billy actually forwarded an email he'd sent to over 7 previous companies! What a laugh!! ).3. You can't be bothered to save the job ads you applied for; much less research the company. 4. You can't follow the simple instructions on how to apply for the job. 5. You REFUSE to update your CV. 6. Your CV has irrelevant information that wastes HR's time. 'Aims' ko, 'objectives' nii. 7. Simple English language, you can't understand. 8. You get invited to an interview and don't turn up; to send message say you no fit come dey hard you ba? Who's that bad habit going to hurt? 9. You refuse to improve yourself, when skilled, experienced workers are now entering the job market- You funny o. 10. How on earth will you call the company to ask for directions to their office?! In the 21st century?!? 11. In fact, better go and start a micro-business, instead of wasting your meagre resources running from pillar to post. In fact, if you've done any two of the above in the past 1 week, you might as well go be your own boss, 'cos e go tey for dat job o... (But diaris God. Abi?) |
[https://www.nairaland.com/newpost?post=41612827&topic=2838780] I saw this guy's post on another thread. Is it true? When did that happen? Didn't even hear of him getting a masters! Well, now we can all call him 'Dr. Dullard'!! (I dey joke o!!!!) heh |
You people are funny o. I thought the matter of corruption was settled? You're fighting online about a mere jet when petitions against him over the looting of billions were all tossed aside? Wetin dey do una? Una no get work?! At least, find something meaningful to talk about; this issue is dead on arrival. APC is working. Nigeria is working. And in the meantime, Nigeria decides: 'One private jet for every low income family. This is the APC promise'. (-after all, we're still in campaign mode... ) |
