Business / Dangote Couldnt Meet 2023 Refinery Completion Target- Report by DebbyJose: 9:47pm On May 13, 2022
Fitch, the world’s biggest global rating agency has alleged that Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote is broke.

It alleged that his company, Dangote Industries has limited financial flexibility with which to complete its refinery.

Fitch is basing its allegation on the timely completion or lack thereof of the project, adding that only limited delays or cost overruns may be tolerated in the current rating.

Fitch argues that Dangote Industries suffers from weak corporate governance.

It says that the existence of a “complex group structure with a large number of related-party transactions” has “a negative effect on operational and financial transparency.”

“We also think it’s a risk that Aliko Dangote, as CEO and main shareholder, has a lot of power over operations,” it added.

Dangote had promised to commission the $19 billion refinery project before President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure ends next year.

Not only is the Dangote refinery very dear to Buhari’s government, Fitch claims that the government sees the project as the messiah that will solve Nigeria’s perennial fuel scarcity problem as it will end the country’s dependence on imported foreign fuel.

But as it turns out, Fitch seems to think that this dream and the time line Dangote gave Buhari is not achievable.

And their reason is not far fetched: Dangote requires an additional $1.1 billion (900 billion) naira to complete the refinery next year.

Unfortunately, Dangote does not have that kind of money now as he has invested all his cash and even borrowed from lenders to finance the refinery project.

Again, the lenders that borrowed Dangote’s loan for the financing of the project cannot give him the 900 billion naira that Dangote needs to complete the project as they are already over exposed to the project.

So the only way Dangote can raise money is through the sale of bonds by his cement company, Dangote Cement.

Dangote cement is already to sell bonds this year.

If the money urgently needed by Dangote isn’t raised through the sale of bonds, he can sell some shares in his cement company (he owns over 86% of Dangote cement) or he can sell some refinery project stakes, which would be the likely option to plug the gap.

He has sold 20% of the refinery stake to NNPC at a cost of $2.5 billion, but he might be forced to dilute more stakes in the refinery if all the options to raise the $1.1 billion needed to complete the refinery fail him.

But if all these measures to raise money fail to see the light of the day, the only available option left for Aliko is to increase the price of his cement from what it is now to something higher.

Fitch concluded its report by saying that the earliest Dangote refinery can deliver its project is

2024 and not the 2023 that Dangote promised Buhari.

The Dangote refinery project has gone too far and Dangote, is racing against time just to make sure that he delivers the project.

If not for anything, a lot of hopes are tied to the project, and its failure to deliver will be nothing but a catastrophe.
Investment / Suru Group Boss, Edward Akinlade Notifies Lasg, Fg, As Amcon Flouts Court Order by DebbyJose: 8:22am On May 12, 2022
The Chairman of Suru Group of Companies, Edward Akinlade has challenged the Asset Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, over the way it has handled his seized property, Best Western Hostel located along with the highbrow Allen Avenue in Ikeja, Lagos State.

While addressing pressmen in Ikeja on Wednesday 11th May 2022 the business tycoon challenged the Asset Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, which is currently in possession of the building for contravening the laws of the land.

“This hotel is supposed to be sealed. No work is expected to be taking place here but AMCON is in its possession.

“So I came here to state our position. Our position is very clear. AMCON said we owed them money and we claimed we didn’t owe them anything. They sued us in the Federal High Court before Justice Hassan. We won the case. They appealed to the court of appeal, we won at the court of appeal. They have further appealed at the Supreme Court. The case is coming up in September. No work is expected to be taking place here. But AMCON seems to have demolished substantially part of the hotel, the windows, the floors, and everything. Also, the fear is Lagos state said the building is in danger of falling.

“They have distorted the hotel. A hotel that is worth over 6 billion naira. What this hotel is worth now is about 500 million. So that you can see how AMCON kills businesses. Over 500 people were working in this hotel up till December 2017 when AMCON invaded it with guns without a court order. The court order they brought has nothing to do with us. We went to the Court of Appeal, we overturn it. Instead of AMCON complying, they went to the Supreme Court. So why the case is at the Supreme Court, you can see what they are doing; Illegality upon illegality. They can not sell the property, they can not renovate it because it is against the law.

Akinlade thereby sought the intervention of both the Federal and Lagos state government on the matter.

“In the last one year, the Attorney General was involved, Public Hearing of House of Representatives has been involved, AMCON ignored all of them. They didn’t come. And where a resolution was reached through the Attorney General’s Office, AMCON said no.

“Are they the ones working at the hotel? The question now is who owns the hotel? Have they sold the hotel? who is working there? For what purpose, if we have gotten the Court of Appeal’s ruling in our favour, why are they here? AMCON needs to provide answers to all these.

“I am appealing again to the Attorney General of Nigeria, I am appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to call Ahmed Kuru to order because if this hotel falls and people die, I would not be held responsible. This is a preamble for us.

When the pressmen visited the hotel building to have a first-hand sight of the present state of the property, they were denied entrance by the security personnel guiding the building as they claimed they need an order from their principal before they grant access.

Politics / Ex-npa MD, Hadiza Bala Usman Attacked For Asking For Chibok Girls’ Release After by DebbyJose: 9:08pm On Apr 16, 2022
Hadiza Bala, sacked managing director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has continued to come under intense criticism for her statement lamenting the ongoing insecurity crises in Nigeria, THE WITNESS reports.

Hadiza spoke in the context of the commemoration of eight years after the Chibok girls were abducted in Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists.

The former NPA chief was suspended in May 2021 over the allegation of failure to remit the N165 billion operating surplus to the coffers of the federal government. Though she was later cleared of the allegations, President Buhari, however, did not reinstate her to office.

In recent times, several states in the country, including Kaduna, Plateau, Zamfara, Benue and others, have witnessed large number of terrorist attacks.

The volatile security situation made northern elders demand the immediate resignation of President Buhari.

Hadiza, who reacted through her verified Twitter handle, condemned the situation and demanded swift actions from the government to secure the release of victims.

According to her: “It is eight years today since 276 girls were abducted in Chibok Secondary School, 109 still remain in captivity. Many more girls, boys and indeed citizens of all ages have been abducted from schools, communities and while enroute journeys,” she wrote.

Usman, a co-coordinator of the #BringBackOurGirls movement, which came to life on the heels of the Chibok abductions had been very active in the movement’s activities until she was appointed the managing director of the NPA.

She had thereafter gone silent on issues around activism, or matters critical of the government.

She was, however, recently shown the way out of the appointment after a fallout with the minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

*Her comments have however sparked criticisms, with some Nigerians labeling her as a ‘shameless hypocrite’ and fresh attention seeker for not speaking out while she was in office as NPA*

TV/Movies / Deyemi Okanlawon, Funsho Ogunleye, Mercy Aigbe, Others Stun In New Movie "City by DebbyJose: 8:32am On Mar 25, 2022
When you see a film full of celebrities, it is either total nonsense or a good watch. For the Nollywood movie; City Hustlers, let’s find out if it’s a good watch or not.

City Hustlers is a story that depicts the city of Lagos and the hustling lives of those who live in the city. First, there is the story of a landlord and different tenants in the house; then another story of a Lagos slay queen living in the slum but pretending to be a big girl on social media.

There is also the story of a young gigolo who scams rich women and runs away with their money. At the end of the film, we see how these different characters wiggle their ways out of their situations.

This movie had hilarious scenes that could make people pay little attention to the plot structure.

The acting in City Hustlers is the icing of the movie. City Hustlers is not one of those movies with many superstars filled with overacting. The actors in City Hustlers carried the film well. Should we talk about Akin Lewis, the Landlord? Or Mercy Aigbe, the rich career woman? Or should we talk about Ninolowo Bolanle and how he carried the gigolo role well? Or is it Ogunleye Funsho, Deyemi Okanlawon, Jide Awobona and Linda Osifo who played their roles well? Charles Inojie remains an ace comic actor, and he sure gave us a good laugh.

In all, City Hustlers isn’t a bad watch for ratings; it would get a 8/10.

Their peculiar creativity, innovation and long-standing integrity have attracted thousands of prospects to the company and has made RevolutionPlus a template of study for other real estate firms.

Speaking on the new innovation, Mrs Onalaja describes instant land allocation as a lasting solution to major real estate challenges that may create doubt in the minds of prospects. She stated that the idea was borne out of an intense brainstorming sessions that lasted for many weeks considering all the bottlenecks in acquiring landed documents from the government.

She reiterated the mission of the company to develop affordable housing to make those who don’t earn so much, own a home they can call their own.

In the bid to execute a coordinated subscription process, Revolution Plus has also introduced an automated Customer Relation Management (Automated CRM) portal to communicate to the client regularly on the payment progress. This email has been built with the call centre to attend to any resolutions, questions, enquiries or complaints, and a representative will take it up and respond to you.
And for existing customers who have made purchases, or made the payment but has not gotten allocation: there are three categories of clients: those who have fully paid, those who are still paying and are still within a contract, and those who are out of contract, which our clients who are not able to pay within the contract period.

What we have done is that we give them options. One of them is that we tell them that, if you are still interested in the property we give you 30 days to pay up and you will be allocated.
For those who are still within the contract to pay up and when through with the payment they would be allocated immediately.
We want to assure everyone who has fully paid and is yet to be allocated that we are committed to this course. Politics / "Deliver Us From King Nebuchadnezzar Gbolahan Lawal", Iru Residents Beg Sanwoolu by DebbyJose: 8:39am On Feb 19, 2022
Oba Gbolahan Lawal has done many things to question his readiness for leadership and mental stability, since becoming a king, but nothing he has done is as ugly as his recent act of undermining the government of Lagos state and running Iru land as a parallel state away from the administration of His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu.
It is believed that royalty and thuggery should be opposites, since the title of majesty inherently comprises power and value, and does not need impunity to thrive.

After an event in Lagos State, where a king acted just like a thug and ran his own government, can no longer be equated with majesty, and we should ask why

Despite the sensitivity that surrounds the reopening of the toll gates in Lekki after the reported massacre that put Lagos in the spotlight across the world barely 14 months ago, one royal father decided to mount four strategic toll gates within one community in Lagos state.

The poster boy for this majestic descent is the maverick Oniru of Iru land, Oba Gbolahan, who in a state that has rules and regulations, decided to build his own tollgates.

This absurdity is a moment of pause, not just in Lagos State, but for the nation; for we are desecrating esteemed royal institutions by allowing nefarious individuals to assume positions that should be a reserve of people of good character and nobility.

Report from concerned residents of lru has it that car owners now pay through their nose in their own community to get home in their cars every day, as Oniru has reportedly mounted 4 toll gates in conspicuous places within Iru and planted his heavily armed thugs in each tollgate to intimidate and attack any resident who questions his inimical policy.

One of the affected residents who spoke to newsmen says there is nowhere in the world, where there is an existing government with rule guiding the state that will condone a king to initiate a policy that evidently contravened the legitimate umbrella government.

“This is a slap on Lagos governor. He cannot feign innocence of this development and the cry of the people of Iru land. The inimical policy is an affront and assault to the collective intelligence of Iru people and Lagos state by extension.

“Governor Sanwoolu needs to rise to this occasion and call Oba Gbolahan to order before the once cherished community become ungovernable.” He said.

The latest in his series of errors is the compulsory issuance of Palace permits on every land purchased in Iru. Whenever anyone buys land in Iru, and you need to obtain Governor’s consent, you will be sent back to the palace for a letter from Oba Gbolahan. Who then charges you between N10m - N20m to issue a clearance letter that they have no business issuing.

This is the latest scam been perpetrated between Oba Gbolahan and the Lagos State Government we believe.

Eventually if as a land owner you cant meet up with their charges, you would have to give up the land as you might not be able to face the wrath of Oba Gbolahan’s thugs.

Indeed, in recent times, many have begun to psycho-analyze him and even try to unearth his past, in an effort to know if he is truly deserving of the throne he currently occupies. Those who are calling for an investigation into his struggling years, which seems to have now exposed the big blot on his careless volitions, maintain that he has desecrated the stool to the embarrassment of his subjects.

Curiously, about two years into his ascendancy to the throne, the Oniru of Iru has not done anything, consciously or otherwise, to disabuse the minds of his critics who have tagged him as an undeserving king.

His actions are said to be giving many grave concerns, as it is giving the town a bad image.

Iru community however called upon Lagos state governor, Babajide Sawoolu to save them from the clutches of a Nebuchadnezzar-incarnate in the person of Oba Gbolahan

Even the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu, was deeply involved as he took part in the racing competition along with his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat. Also present was the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare and other dignitaries.
One of the sponsors of the Lagos City Marathon, REVOLUTIONPLUS PROPERTY. The company was ably represented by its two bosses, Mr Bamidele Onalaja (GMD of the company ) and Mrs Tolulpe Onalaja (GED of the company). Both the GMD Na GED were on stage and were involved in the presentation of gifts and prizes to winners. They were also rewarded for being a consistent sponsor and partner of the annual event. The company was everywhere, making its presence felt in all the nooks and crannies of the venue.

This is the 4th time the company is sponsoring the event and their partnership was acknowledged and appreciated by the organisers and governor Sanwo Olu.
The winner of this year's 30 thousand dollars is Geleta Ulfata. Geleta Ulfata from Ethiopia completed the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon in a time of 2.11.58 to emerge winner of the 7th edition of the competition on Saturday.
Ulfata defeated other marathoners to win the 42km race and will walk away with the grand prize of $30,000.

Speaking at the event is Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu, Lagos state governor. "Let me first congratulate all Lagosians. All of us, sponsors and Mr Olopade who always want to be behind the scene. He's the short man behind this initiative. He's a short man, very cerebral and sports administrator per excellence, who has been the brain behind this event"

Mr Sanwo, promises that the Lagos state government will continue to be a partner of the event and we would make sure it lives up to expectations. We have discussed with him (mr Olopade) that very soon, in the next one year maximum, we have to get to the platinum level and that's what we are planning to achieve and by the time we are celebrating the 10th anniversary, we should be a platinum marathon and what that means is that, every second weekend in February becomes a calendared event globally. And it will become a place to be for every athlete all over the world and if you are a sports enthusiast, it's also a place to be. It opens up our economy. And sport for us as a government has become one of our biggest rally points for our youths. Sports know no boundary. You can see that many people who won here today, the majority of them aren't Nigerians", he concluded.

Celebrities / 'I Didn't Snatch Anyone's Husband'- Star Actress, Kiitan Bukola Clears The Air by DebbyJose: 1:23pm On Jan 23, 2022
The social media space was agog with the news of top Nollywood actress, Oloruntimilehin Oluwabukola, popularly known as Kiitan Bukola after she was accused of sleeping with a married man.

Controversial Instagram blogger, Gistlover had posted a story about the actress having secret affair with one Mr Orlando, who has also “been reported to be funding her lifestyle”.

The actress who recently celebrated her movie premiere has debunked the story as unfounded, slanderous and a deliberate attempt to malign her integrity by mere faceless sources.

Kiitan who spoke to newsmen on Thursday, 20 January 2022, advised the public to ignore whatever fabricated story, emanate from social media about her or anyone, when sources cannot prove beyond reasonable doubts, by facts or figures.

Some social media bloggers only take absolute delight in messing up people’s minds for the purpose of extending the web of schism they established on falsehood. She added that she has contacted the said Mr Orlando’s wife, who had equally absolved her of all the false allegations after facts were presented before her.

In her account, she has never met or spoken with the purported Mr Orlando, let alone have an affair with him. She added that she only saw the man walking past behind a short video she did with her senior colleague in the movie industry, Iyabo Ojo.

Painting a picture of what actually happened, she said:

“All the allegation is false and it’s really painful to hear stories like this. Actually, I remember there was a period a senior colleague of mine Iyabo Ojo had her birthday at Fespris lounge, I was there with a friend and while partying, she made a video of me and Aunty Iyabo dancing.

“Then the following morning I posted the video on my IG page then someone commented on my page and called me Olosho. She didn’t stop at that, she tagged a lady and wrote, “See the person sleeping with your husband. She equally tagged a lot of people, and I was really confused about everything so I went to the woman's page and realized she is not someone I know.

“I checked the man's page too, he is not a familiar face too then I went back to the video I posted, and then it dawned on me that the man walked behind us while doing the video so I realized because he was seen in the video that was why she concluded I was sleeping with him. Immediately I removed the video from my page to avoid more wahala.

“So I moved on since I don’t have any skeleton in my cupboard. I was surprised when someone tagged me recently on gislover post so I checked the post myself and I was like God, someone that I don’t even know in person, how will he now sponsor my event?.

“Before I produced my movie, I already have money for the production and the premiere. I took my time to do everything, normally I don’t do parties, and it’s not really my thing so it took me time to make up my mind.

“I was really pissed with the whole story, if it was something I actually did then I won’t be bothered, I will conclude that since I put myself in the mess, then I should pay for it.

“This particular story is not true. This man didn’t sponsor anything I did, am not dating him so I don’t know where all these are coming from.

“I even had to reach out to Aunty Iyabo to ask if he knows the man, she was surprised with the whole story too. I equally reached out to my brother in the U.S who said he knows the wife in question, she put us both on a conference call, she explained her own side of the story on how people kept tagging her saying I’m dating her husband, also that she didn’t send it to gistlover blog and doesn’t even have an idea of how the story came up. She also said she checked my page and realized I don’t even like his post or something and concluded there must be a mix up somewhere and nothing attached.

“I swear with God Almighty that I don’t have any connection with this man, if I do I won’t be bothered. I went to Fespris lounge with my friend Bella and from there we went to 234 Lounge then from there I went to Quilox to meet my brother and from there I went home straight. I have videos to back all these

“I hereby state categorically that the story is false in its entirety. I am not in any way involved with the said Mr Orlando

“It remains unthinkable why my name is being dragged into a matter which I know nothing about. I will rather advise social media users not to believe all the false information that is being thrown around by faceless bloggers who only find delight in pulling innocent people down.”, she stated.

Music/Radio / Gospel Singer, Tim Gold Set To Release New Hit, “owo Olorun” by DebbyJose: 2:57pm On Jan 22, 2022
The Nigerian gospel industry has never been short of talent. Both male and female artists have shown their talents through songwriting, singing, and live performances. Nigerian gospel artists fuse different elements in their music to bring out the best in the art.

Olurotimi Olumuyiwa popularly referred to as Tim Gold is undoubtedly among the most inspirational Nigerian gospel singers today. The multitalented hitmaker became a sensation in Nigeria when his hit song Papa njo was released in 2018. The song was massively played in churches, homes, and on the radio. The song boosted his popularity in the continent as much as he was doing okay in Nigeria.

What stands Tim Gold out from the crowd in the gospel music industry is his genre of music that is inspired more by the Holy Spirit beyond the regular modern gospel mix that competes with secular songs.

He started singing as a part of chorister as far back as 1979 and has since remained in the fold of Christ. He also hinted that he gets his inspiration from private bible study, or sharing reflections with people.

Tim Gold has established himself as one of the most sought-after Nigerian gospel artists and also one of the best in the entire West African region. The gospel musician also produces and plays several musical instruments. His gospel ministry cuts across several parts of Nigeria and the world.

Tim Gold is not a regular commercial gospel singer. He sings as inspired by the Holy Spirit and uses his content to teach the word of God. He has released no fewer than 4 albums namely; Papa Njo, Ara Ile Eniyan, . Mo sa Dio, Agbani Lagbatan

Sharing his experience with city people, Tim Gold recalls how he took his music to a marker and he said the song doesn’t match with what people are currently listening to. He stated:

Sometimes ago, I took my music to a marketer. Having listened to it, he said the songs didn't have Alujo so people wouldn't listen. “He said the songs were too biblical and too serious. I couldn't stop laughing, though it wasn't a laughing matter. But I won't be discouraged as I have a mission mandated by God to feed his people through my music.

He added that part of his regrets why growing up contributed to his decision to go all out for God and continue to preach the good news through his talent

I didn't start recording my songs on time despite the enormous talent that was endowed in me. I am a late starter. Also, the contents of the songs people are ditching out in the name of the modern gospel have become worrisome. People now sing for money and soul winning is relegated to the rock bottom of the ladder.

Commercial Gospel artists are everywhere. Only a few sing for the love of Christ. As a young boy, I witnessed people with chronic ailments getting healed by spiritual songs. In the bible, David healed Saul with songs. In my private life, spiritual songs have done wonders. I am not criticising anyone, this is not a matter of opinion, it is a fact and the earlier we identify and fix this, the better for us all.

Tim Gold, who is currently in the United Kingdom is set to release another hit song titled Owo Olorun (Hands of God) which will hit the market in 2022

TV/Movies / What Inspired My Latest Movie “ola” - Popular Actress, Kiitan Bukola by DebbyJose: 5:37pm On Dec 21, 2021
Oloruntimilehin Bukola popularly known as Kiitan is one of the wave-making actresses in the movie industry. This very humble, highly talented and down to earth actress has achieved so much as an actress cum producer within a short period in the industry, compared to many of her contemporaries, and she is leaving no stone unturned to still achieve more in the industry.

Kiitan achieved so much in 2021 from acquiring a house, to buying an exotic car, bagging several awards for her exceptional role interpretations in movies.

Despite all these, she still not relenting as she will be premiering her 4th movie titled “Ola” soon.

In this interview with City People’s BIODUN ALAO, she talked about what really inspired her latest movie, how she has been able to achieve so much in a short while and why she has been keeping to herself in the industry. Below are the excerpts.

What inspired your latest movie titled “Ola”?

My latest movie titled “Ola” (Tomorrow) was inspired by the things I have seen about life. A lot of things are happening today that many even forget there is tomorrow and also they have forgotten many things we do today determines our tomorrow.

What should expect from this latest movie and the premiere?

I want people to expect something new and different, it is very different from my usual movie. When I sit back and watch. I am always surprised that I could come out with I thank God. I was able to change my character from what people are used to watch, so people can see another part of me as an actor.

How have you been able to achieve so much as a young actress in the industry?

It’s been God, I am only trying my best so I give God all the glory. I am not perfect but God has been indeed faithful.

The year 2021 was a very fulfilling one for you, what is the secret?

The truth is 2021, I focused more on my career, when I joined the movie industry, I had a target and I always want people to know that the Yoruba movie industry is actually not what people think of it.

Some will even say oh Yoruba movies I don’t want to watch it, but I actually want to try my best to change that narrative through my own movie by producing unique and interesting movies that they can learn from. We have good producers that produce fantastic movies in the industry and I want to be counted among those very few.

What is the secret of your success in the industry?

There is actually no secrets anywhere I am only trying my very best to do something different and unique.

I have been trying so hard to challenge myself and do something some other people believe it is too difficult for them.

If you have the opportunity to change anything now about yourself in the industry, what would it be?

Honestly, absolutely nothing. I don’t want to change anything but rather work harder to be a better person. You are also one actress that tends to always mind her business in the industry, what prompted that decision?

Naturally, I am a lane minder, even outside the industry, I mind my business and keep to myself a lot. Some will say it is because I am arrogant but truly I am not a proud person. I am a very emotional person, I get hurt easily, so as much as I don’t want to hurt people, I won’t encourage anyone to hurt me too. So that is why I mind my business.

I don’t like being taken for granted. I am always happy for people’s success and celebrate them. I enjoy being on my own.

What is your next plan after this movie?

I would like to do something better and bigger than this again. I just always want to be a step ahead.

Do you have any regret so far in the industry?

I don’t have any regret so far. Being famous actually rob one of her privacy, maybe that is the only regret so far. I am this person that doesn’t like putting my family in the limelight. I don’t want anybody to know about my relationship but being popular people wants to know about your everything and that is very scary so that is like the only aspect I don’t like.

What is your greatest desire in the industry?

The greatest desire in my career is to be at the very top, become an A-list actor, though I know it requires lots of hard work and I am working tirelessly towards that. I want to see myself in Hollywood, I want to see myself in Netflix and make my fans really proud.

How many movies have you produced so far?

I have been in the industry for a while now and I have produced 3 movies. My latest movie “Ola” (Tomorrow) is my fourth production and it will be premiered on the 27th of December and I honestly can’t wait for people to see it, it is far from the usual.

I know what I am talking about. I had to challenge myself this time around. I can’t wait to start getting reviews.

TV/Movies / 8 Reasons To Subscribe To Jmslide This Season by DebbyJose: 10:35pm On Dec 19, 2021
Not currently subscribed to JMSlide? Now maybe the time to reconsider! Here are reasons why you should subscribe to JMSlide

Ever since its official launch in Nigeria on Sunday, December 5, 2021. JMSlide has remains the top choice for TV and movie streaming in 2021 thanks to its ease of use, lack of commercials and exclusive content.

Streaming shows and movies over the internet is the best way to watch TV, and JMslide is proving to be the best choice so far for streaming entertainment. JMslide includes a wide variety of familiar network shows and more original series that streams effortlessly like one is watching movies offline.

Depending on the plan you choose, JMslide costs between N1000 and N2350 per month, which is at the most affordable end for a streaming service couple with its sheer variety and number of new things to watch.

JMslide may have been one of the recent platform in the world, but it’s the first of its kind from Nigeria, but it's kept its momentum with its increasing number of original shows and movies -many of which have been tipped to bag major awards and nominations.

Compared to other streaming platforms, you can't beat JMSlide's slate of original TV shows and movies that are considered among the best of the modern era of television, , such as Bosun’s Empire, Alabede, The Grudge, Cocktale, Emilola and many more.

JMSlide has more 4K content than just about any other streaming service, and a lot of its 4K shows and movies are also available in HDR. High dynamic range provides an even bigger improvement in image quality than 4K, with better contrast and color, and the difference is especially apparent on large, higher-end televisions.

JMslide's browsing features and algorithm for recommendations have never been stellar.

Browsing categories on the service is also easier, with the homepage split into a variety of popular categories that you can expand to explore more. On the JMslide website, you can hover over series to see their trailers and expand the preview to get more information without leaving the homepage.

JMslide remains my favourite streaming platform of the increasingly large bunch. It has a huge selection of movies and TV shows old and new tons of high-quality original programs, and an easy-to-navigate interface.

Check it out and let’s hear from you https://jmslide-us.com/

Culture / INSECURITY: Erelu Tinuade Backs Obj's Statement, Berates Lai Mohammed For Carel by DebbyJose: 7:47am On Dec 17, 2021
The highly respected international custodian of African cultures and Erelu Oodua of Aye Kingdom, Erelu Tinuade Mabel Onaneye has thrown her weight behind the remark made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo (OBJ) that President Muhammadu Buhari has nothing more to offer Nigerians in tackling banditry and general insecurity in the country and called out the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed for attacking OBJ's remark.

She made her position known in a statement she issued at her base in Texas, United States on the morning of Thursday, 16th of December 2021, shortly after the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said the remark that Buhari can’t tackle insecurity in Nigeria is fallacious and untrue.

'It's sycophants and traitors like Lai Mohammed that brought us to where we are today in Yorubaland. With the magnitude of killings, banditry and kidnapping going on consistently in every region, it's unfortunate Lai Mohammed could come out to say Buhari is doing a lot to keep Nigerians safe.' Erelu posited.

In conclusion, Erelu calls on the National Assembly to decide on the alternatives even if it would involve seeking help from the international community in order to end the senseless bloodshed in Nigeria.

Culture / Know Your Generation. by DebbyJose: 2:02pm On Dec 16, 2021
THANK ME. 7 living generations excluding The Silent generation.

Baby Boomers: born 1946 to 1964. ...

Generation Jones: born 1955 to 1965. ...

Generation X: born 1965 to 1980. ...

Xennials: born 1977 to 1983. ...

Millennials: born 1981 to 1996. ...

Generation Z: born 1997 or after. ...

Generation Alpha: born 2010 or after.

Now about the generation .... So I am generation X but feel like all the four generations below X.

Xenials

Millennials

Generation Z or Zedites

Generation A.

What a cook-up or a mix I am!!!

Truth is it's perfectly okay to feel a generation away from yours. Not sure if it's positive or negative to feel like generations before you or after. The facts remain that we live through the generations in our characters attitudes 'expressions, idiosyncrasies etc. It's human nature. There are hilarious aspects to this. Like a generation X trying to dress like a generation Z. Or hoping to be as vibrant and agile as a generation Alpha.

Know your generation is not a bad thing. Living in one generation and finding expression in others is not entirely bad either. In fact, I believe man was Intended to have transgenerational interactions, experiences and abiding traits. These are often commonplace.

I don't believe we are expected to be locked up within a generation bound by definitions and expectations of individual societies or communities. We most certainly have the freedom to live how we want to and not be defined by our generation although we should be careful not to cross the borders with uttermost ridiculousness.

Let's not forget we are not robots that are Programmed to work according to the algorithms of the manufacturer...We are humans made in His Express image. If I take that literally that would mean just like Him we don't age.

From experience it's also true we basically remain who we are until of course after the New Birth. That being said our souls are ageless. ( Often wondered why the expression old soul) . That's is not even complimentary. I guess it's often used to describe someone who displays or expresses a deeper understanding of a current issue. So maybe it's complimentary.

Anyway, truth is, only the body goes through the metamorphosis. I have often wondered why the body has to go through so many changes over the years. How about No age lines, wrinkles free, no crow feet, no aching knees, no blurry eyesight, no hair or balding, no teeth falling no gait strain.... Haba !!! How cool would that be? Then again how will the generations be demarcated? I guess He thought of everything. I could have been married or dated a dinosaur or worse still I could be married to an ancestor Tufiakwa

Boy, what a morning. My thoughts are everywhere. I'm just human. Exploring my humanity. This last expression “exploring my humanity" rings a certain bell. Some sexual ring to it. How come sex is the only thing to be explored so much so that the word itself seems to serve only that purpose. I'm exploring my thoughts. My intellect. I actually have boundless freedom to explore my humanity in the light of The Truth. My Truth which I hold dearly. Lest o forget with my brains too.

It's increasingly harder staying relevant in your generation while grappling with catching up with the generations after you. On a lighter note, the men take this sport seriously by indulging in multiple copulations with girls in their daughter's generation and granddaughters. What a way to keep up with the Joneses!

I was listening to a Ted talk the other day and the speaker highlighted the fact that while the female hormone Oestrogen makes a very grand exit from the life of a female early from age 40 Putting her through a series of symptoms bordering on the theatrical. The male hormone Testosterone or sir T For short takes its time and goes away quietly without fuss when the man is well stricken in years. He hardly notices. Could nature be cheating the female gender? I better stop now before it becomes a gender talk and not a flipping generation musings that it is.

Now we understand Abraham at 90 was still firing. It was Sarah that needed the body miracle. ( But seriously what was a ninety-year-old man and an eighty-year-old woman doing having sex biko?) God has a good sense of humour. How did I get back here? Please ignore!

Back to the striving to remain relevant through the generations. I personally feel life is best lived as a breath in breath out exercise. In these times we find ourselves, especially not as millennials, Zedites or Alphas, bombarded by social media, harassed by the scary uninvited and unexpected COVID 19, being alive hale and hearty in the present should top the list of our priorities.

No go do pass yasef

Proudly Generation X

Intentionally Millenial

Mother to Millennials and Zedites

Granny to an Alpha....

I'm quite a great cocktail mix of humanity.

Let's drink to that.

Cheers

Crime / #justice4keren Movement Unveils Owners Of Premiere Academy School, Lugbe-abuja by DebbyJose: 8:15am On Dec 15, 2021
...Vows to occupy their houses with Protest

Dear Nigerians, in line with our firm resolution to fight for Justice for Keren, we have carried out a detailed investigation to call out the real owners of Premiere Academy School Lugbe-Abuja. Our findings revealed that the following persons own Premiere Academy, Lugbe-Abuja.

(1)Chief M K Osuma

(2)Akinsola Akinfemiwa

(3) Dr. Omotayo Akinfemiwa

We shall occupy and take our protest to their various houses and occupy every entrance and exit, If they continue to maintain a theory of Silence in the face of injustice against Keren. The owners of Premiere Academy in Lugbe must take action against pedophiles in the post-primary institution. They should ensure as we demand, Justice for Keren rather than keep mute. We have decided to drag them into this matter of sexual harassment and rape of Keren until they hold the Administrators of Premiere Academy, accountable to produce those responsible for rape and sexual expliotation that led to the death of Miss. Keren-Happuch Adondodoo Akpagher. It remains disheartening that Miss Keren-Happuch Aondodoo Akpagher, a student of Premiere Academy Lugbe, Abuja died on 22nd of June 2021 after she was sexually exploited and raped in the school. We understand from medical evidence available, that the late student was raped and given an overdose of glucocorticoid which led to her death. We have clearly stated previously and we are repeating that same position of ours that anyone that played any role directly or indirectly in what caused the death of Keren Happuch Aondodoo Akpagher will be brought to justice. We shall bring them all to justice and firmly hold them adequately accountable.

Rationale for the call for Justice for Keren

"My daughter had called me via her teacher’s phone on Friday, 18th of June 2021, complaining of her eye and asked that I come and pick her for medical attention. However, the teacher asked me to come on Saturday to avoid her getting in trouble for allowing my daughter use her phone. On Saturday 19th of June 2021, when I asked to pick her, the school clinic matron would not release her but transported her to a private clinic where I met her and facilitated her treatment. My daughter was distraught when she learnt she was going back to school. She also told me the reason the school was giving for not allowing her come home was false since the girl that was with her was going home for her mother’s birthday. I asked her to go and I will come pick her. I called the then Acting Principal, Mr. Christopher Akinsowon who agreed and asked me to call him when I get to the school. It took over four hours of calling and texting the Principal and the Matron who had refused to release her initially, saying she would have to stay in isolation for seven days on her return, finally allowed her to go home with me after insisting I provide my ID card for them to take a snapshot of it (which had never been asked before). Initially, I was not keen on taking her that Saturday, 19th of June 2021, but changed my mind when her school mother informed me that she couldn’t walk to school on the 16th of June 2021 and had to be supported by two friends to write her test in tears. She was withdrawn throughout the evening of Saturday 19/6/21 and Sunday 20/6/21. She took ill on Sunday night (20/6/21) and was rushed to Queens Clinic, Wuse, Abuja on Monday 21/06/21. In the process of attending to her, while trying to insert a catheter a discharge from her vagina was tested and found to be condom after a laboratory test. Her urine test revealed dead spermatozoa. She died early hours of Tuesday from hyperglycemia triggered by sepsis resulting from the infection caused by the condom, which was left inside her." Her mother stated.

Investment / Aiico's Underwriting Loss At Q3 Stands At N2.2bn by DebbyJose: 10:43am On Nov 08, 2021
AIICO insurance operations have again suffered a loss in the area of underwriting, its core business.

According to the third quarter audited financial reports submitted to the Nigerian Exchange, the insurance firm's total underwriting expenses exceeded net underwriting income, causing an underwriting loss of N2.2 billion in the third quarter.

The composite risk underwriter only managed to hit a break-even level with a share of associate profit that assisted it from a total loss for the period.

AIICO's entire closing profit for the period consists of roughly N2.4 billion which was made from a sold subsidiary.

With the increase in fee and commission income, AIICO improved net underwriting income by 11.5 per cent year-on-year to nearly N45 billion.

However, an increase of 34 per cent in underwriting expenses to N7.6 billion over the period added to the operating pressure facing the company. It was saved by the positive changes in life and annuity funds which lowered total underwriting expenses to N15 billion, a big slash from close to N63 billion in the same period in 2020.

Weakness in building underwriting profit observed in the second quarter intensified in the third – when it suffered an underwriting loss of N2.2 billion. That reduced its underwriting profit from N32 billion at mid-year to N29.7 billion at the end of the third quarter operations.

Despite the decline, the underwriting profit figure remains a major upturn for the company from an underwriting loss of N22.4 billion in the same period in 2020.

Loss has been a permanent feature for some time now in the underwriting unit which is the core business of AIICO Insurance. The company’s volume of underwriting business keeps growing but the underwriting expenses keep overtaking the earnings.

Recall in 2019, AIICO Insurance closed that section at a loss of N6.3 billion and by June 2020, the underwriting loss has grown to nearly N11 billion, doubling on a year-on-year basis.

The company raked in gross premium income of N29 billion at the end of June 2020 operations, but like 2019, no part of the earnings reached the bottom line. Instead, the company had to look elsewhere to absorb the enlarged underwriting loss.

Inability to achieve a balance between underwriting income and expenses has been the company’s challenge for the fifth straight year. This development which speaks volumes of the strategy of the company also raises a red flag as profit possibility within the core operations of the company appears to be out of the way for now.

Total underwriting expenses as of half-year 2020 rose well ahead of net underwriting income at about 40 per cent compared to about 25 per cent during the previous period. The margin by which underwriting income could not meet underwriting expenses grew at half-year. That explains the doubling of underwriting loss year-on-year at the end of June 2020.

The drop in underwriting profit in the third quarter of 2021 from the half-year level was reinforced by declines in key income lines as well as increases in some key cost figures. Investment income went down by 10 per cent year-on-year to close at N9.5 billion at the end of September 2021.

A further increase in financial asset value losses to N33.8 billion consumed more than the underwriting profit for the period. This is against a net fair value gain of N21 billion in the same period in 2020.
