Tuesday, December 13th 2022 will forever be etched in the minds of people and etched in the history books as a day the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) made history under the leadership of Pretty Okafor and his executives.



It was a day PMAN unveiled their multi million naira PMAN music house to the world.

The house located inside Chevy View Estate Chevron Lekki is historic because this is the first time in PMAN history that an office is 100% owned by PMAN.



The beautiful and tastefully furnished building saw entertainers and invited guests from all works of life gather for the unveiling.



Pastor Adegoke from House on the Rock Church had the honour of praying at the ribbon cutting. While legendary King Sunny Ade who could not stop heaping praises on Pretty Okafor and his excos for achieving this feat also prayed and cut the ribbon to officially unveil the PMAN music house.



King Sunny Ade who is a past PMAN president said he was filled with pride to see a journey he started come to fruition under this present PMAN dispensation.



Another historic achievement inside the building is the PMAN Fm online radio that is live as you read this. You can download it from the Google playstore.

This is the 1st time it is happening under PMAN and all registered members present were left in awe.



People could not stop commending President Pretty Okafor and his excos consisting of Sunny Neji (vice president), Zaaki-Azzay (, Asha Gangali (Treasurer) Aita Bonny (General Secretary) and Ruggedman (Chairman media) for achieving this.



This all started with the introduction of the six thousand naira biometric registration by Pretty Okafor, powered powered by Zenith Bank.

A collaboration that sees walking into any Zenith Bank branch or logging onto the official website www.pman.ng to register.

It does not stop there. Registered members get benefits that includes health insurance, life insurance. A pension plan and more.

This was the first great feat by Pretty Okafor and his excos. This showed they have the interest of Nigerian entertainers and entertainment at heart.

These are good times for the music industry in Nigeria as the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has finally broken the over 40 years jinx of existing without its own property.

The PMAN executives led by the president, Mr. Pretty Okafor, have acquired a multi-million-naira Edifice
in Lekki, Lagos to be used as corporate office. This is part of the unions strategy for the ongoing biometric card registration drive being implemented in conjunction with Zenith Bank.

The PMAN president maintained that the decision to acquire a property in highbrow Lekki is borne out of good business sense. According to him, it is to reposition and rebrand the union as well as bridge the gap between PMAN and the new generation artistes.
We consider it necessary to have a business office that is accessible to the artistes community and corporate sector in Nigeria. We want to ensure that musicians are receiving proper remunerations for their creative works both home and abroad. Through the acquisition of this property, we are sending an important message to Nigerian musicians and the corporate sector that PMAN, the Nigerian music industry powerhouse, is back in business, he said. 
Okafor explained further that the National Working Committee (NWC) of PMAN deliberately chose Lekki for the new corporate office because it’s the new epicenter of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
“You know, our former rented office was located in Ikeja but we decided to acquire our own property in Lekki. Its a deliberately decision we made because Lekki is the new hub for the Nigerian music industry. It is the hotbed for the new wave Afrobeats culture. Lekki is where the Gen Zers of Nigerian entertainment reside, he noted.
Describing the newly acquired corporate office as a fully detached 5-bedroom duplex, the PMAN boss revealed that it is equipped with different ultra-modern facilities including digital music library, Radio station, conference rooms, and VIP lounge among others.
The new PMAN headquarters will have different ultra-modern components including the presidents office, digital music library, conference rooms, VIP lounge, membership registration booth provided by Zenith Bank, and other necessary offices, Okafor disclosed. 
Meanwhile, PMAN has vowed to enhance its presence in all the six geo-political regions of Nigeria, as the association would soon embark on data capturing of its over six million potential members across the country.
A date for the formal opening of the new PMAN headquarters will be announced via the associations official website.

Inclusion advocate, Uri Ngozichukwuka, Dissociates Self, EDWIIN From Political Party’s Umbrella Procession

National convener of the Empathy-Driven Women Initiative International (EDWIIN), Uri Ngozichukwuka has dissociated herself and her brand from the Umbrella procession held by a political following the road walk the party had on Thursday, November 17, 2022 to canvass support for the presidential candidate of the party.
Recall that EDWIIN had initiated the Umbrella walk to advocate for the rights and acceptance of PWDs with peculiar attention to persons living with Albinism, a cause that got little to no recognition of politicians but kind-hearted Nigerians
In a statement issued by EDWIIN on Friday, 18 November 2022, the convener stated that the use umbrella on that rally was not only insensitive, but also a deliberate mockery of vulnerable fraction of Nigerian citizen whose welfare are of little or no concern to the party or its members.
“Here is a party that had existed for over two decades and have not thought of the idea of a procession in over 20 years.
“EDWIIN, in partnership with well-meaning Nigerians and kind hearted stakeholders came together in June to initiate a walk, in solidarity with People with Albinism and the party did not identify with the project in anyway.
“It was United Nations Albinism Awareness Day on the 13th of June, 2022, and project was executed in partnership with Lagos state office of disabilities LASODA, Lagos Albinism Awareness society and Lagos Accueil an organisation made of French women living in Nigeria, as scores of participants storm out to execute the first umbrella procession.
“It will be recalled that EDWIIN donated 200 umbrellas and 14 SPF 50 sunscreens to persons living with Albinism. The party was nowhere in the picture”
The procession was to bring awareness to the plight of persons living with Albinism
“Our use of umbrella during this period was to pass a message of covering, of inclusion and of recognition that a few cross sections of our citizens have been born with peculiar imperfections that should be considered and acknowledged in the blueprint of our nation’s policy.
It is Insensitive and morally wrong. The said party are viewed as inclusion insensitive and most governors under the party are yet to sign the disabilities bill to law.
The ruling party, in all his imperfections and shortcomings, signed the disability bill since 2019, and 3 years down the line; even the labour party are inclusion sensitive.
“It is however shocking to find the same anti-PWD group, stealing the idea of the same group they have so undermined and relegated to the background, seizing the opportunity to stage a vain rally with a stolen idea and matched it to its blurry agenda.
“This is an assault and an affront to the collective integrity of the PWDs and their conveners, and we wholesomely dissociate our brand from the rally.
“We consider the unfortunate move by this party as disgraceful and most embarrassing, as we expect more from a 24-year-old political party who should be the symbol of integrity in Nigeria”.
“As EDWIIN, we do not support, endorse or campaign for any political candidate and implore the general public to disregard any gesture from any of the parties that suggest otherwise.
“However, we will continue to monitor closely, the political environment and advocate for political capital of persons living with disabilities”, she stated.

The pain of a mother losing all her 4 children to an audacious psychopath and physically abusive bully masquerading as a 'responsible husband' for the public is a pain that I can relate to, and hence will never stay silent over.

On the 26th of September, 2022 by exactly 11:15 AM, I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed on my previously disabled Facebook account when I saw the video of the woman you married in 2015.

Swollen eyes, bloodied eye whites, dishevelled hair; physiognomy almost transformed to that of a Chinese who narrowly survived bee stings.

Chinyere Christine , the lady whose family handed to you 7 years ago in perfect condition and sound mind.

I paused on the post.

The lady you married was crying plaintively for her children to be returned to her.

All 4 of them.

All under the age of 6 years.

Kids she had been denied access to by you whom she has made several reports on how you spend more time punching her face, flogging her and dousing her in hot water in your nightmarish marriage; than you do being affectionate or protecting her.

I was distraught and had to send her a DM asking for more details.

My message wasn't seen by her until 3 days later.

On the 29th of September, 2022.

She responded weakly-- with the characteristic indifference and resignation that comes from crying for help for so long and not being helped.

I dropped my phone number and she called me minutes later and narrated her story.

A truly sordid and heartbreaking tragedy of how a beautiful, promising 23 year old girl accepted the hand of an abusive, narcissistic 33 year old man in marriage in 2015, willingly took in for him even while in University, and eventually had to drop out of school to commit herself to her husband and birth him 4 healthy children.

And what does she get in return?

A manipulative, philandering woman beater who not only beats and dehumanizes her at the slightest provocation, but has committed her to a hospital bed one time too many.

Mr Fred.... you are aware that presently this woman you married suffers occasional seizures and numbness to a side of her face as a result of repeated blows from you and blunt force trauma against her skull.

To add pepper to injury, after the poor woman ran for dear life, you have restricted her access to her 4 children and have brought in another mistress whom you are conditioning your young, innocent children to believe is their mother.

You were shamelessly spamming my WhatsApp with images of your new mistress playing 'mother' over kids whose biological mother is very much alive, right?

The Yoruba apex body under the umbrella of Concerned Yoruba Socio-Cultural/Political Likeminds (New Afenifere) has called on elder statesmen, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, and Pa Reuben Fasoranti to stop the idea of imposing their preferred presidential candidates upon the group as a whole, as they, a more dynamic and youthful arm have decided to take their future into their hands as they prepare for 2023 general elections.
Recall that Pa Ayo Adebanjo and his colleague, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, are at loggerheads over who should be the group’s anointed candidate among the contestants in the race.
Speaking on Tuesday, 08 November 2022, the National Coordinator of The New Afenifere, Hon Comrade Ajibade Adeyeye has advised the elders to leave the younger members alone and allow them forge their own future, and chose who they feel will help them and the Yorubas achieve their aspirations and dreams under a new and fair Nigeria were each area and state will be treated equally and developed to its potential.
The group also stated that after far reaching consultations, the unanimous candidate for the majority of their members is the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The National Coordinator stated that their decision was based on the sequence of achievements of Kwankwaso as a governor, minister and lawmaker, and the recently released blueprint of the party which shows a clear sense of direction and deliberate work plan.
Also speaking, the National Secretary, Omooba Adewale Adebare maintained that the leaders have no control of what happens in the 2023 election, noting that as far as they, the younger and more dynamic force of the Afenifere are concerned, the President must emerge from an electoral process that allows expression of interest, and full participation of politicians and voters.

He said, “As far as we are concerned, we have resolved to support the candidacy of Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and our decision is not influenced by religious or ethnic bigotry, nor by pecuniary considerations. We believe in potential efficiency than the regular affiliations that have done nothing to better the lives of Nigerians and the youths in particular.
“We believe in one Nigeria and, we are convinced that kwankwaso is good for a better Nigeria.
“In 1999-2007, of what particular benefit was Obasanjo to the Yoruba zone during his reign? Yet the north supported him in both elections

“That Afenifere as a whole should take the side of Pa Fasoranti and vote Bola Tinubu, or side with Pa Adebanjo and vote Peter Obi? You are dictating this to the younger and more dynamic members that have the right to choose who their candidates are? This will not be accepted in 2023. We have our minds made up and have decided to support and voluntarily work for the emergence of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at the presidential poll come 2023.”, he said.

Top Lagos businessman and socialite, Shola Oniru has finally reacted to the purported viral video that surfaced online a few days ago, showing him in a compromising state, with unclad lady at a private event.

In a brief and precise statement released by Shola, he owned up to the video and apologized to the general public and those who have been linked to the viral video.

He also stated categorically that he was mistaken for the son of a two-term governor of Kwara state and president of the 8th senate, Dr Olubukola Saraki, and apologized accordingly.

While condemning the reckless and insensitive guise of whoever may have leaked the video, he appealed to the general public to respect his privacy and of those that may have been affected by the malicious video, at this time.

He also vowed to deploy every legal means to bring those behind the circulation of the video, to book.

“I condemn the circulation of the video and will explore all legal avenue to ensure those that circulated the video are brought to book.

Some prominent members of the apex Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere have dissociated themselves from a statement made by one of the acclaimed leaders of the organization, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, when he endorsed the candidacy of Peter Obi of the Labour Party, as his preferred choice in the forthcoming presidential election.



Recall that Chief Adebanjo, a renowned member of the group had insisted that he’ll prefer that presidency be shifted to the southeast as his personal opinion. A strong faction of the group have however advised Nigerians that Pa Adebanjo is entitled to his opinion, but his assertion does not represent the collective interest of Afenifere as a group.

The Yoruba apex body, under the umbrella of Concerned Yoruba Socio-Cultural/Political Likeminds (New Afenifere) in a statement issued on Thursday, September 29, 2022, maintained that Pa Adebanjo’s opinion does not represent the collective interest of the pro-federalist movement, while identifying with the candidacy of Engr, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party.



In the statement signed by the National Coordinator, Hon. Comrade Ajibade Adeyeye and the National Secretary Omooba Adewale Adebare, the New Afenifere called on Nigerians to see beyond social media promotions and sponsorships and look beyond tribal and religious interest, to support a candidate with a credible history of unification and religious freedom.



“We know for a fact that Baba has turned Afenifere into his personal estate as Acting Leader. We are also certain that there was nowhere Afenifere, as we know it, met and took a decision to adopt Mr. Peter Obi as our collective candidate for the 2023 presidential election".



“It is our well considered position that Pa Adebanjo cannot appropriate Afenifere. Baba is just an individual who is free to support any politician of his choice. As an individual, he cannot equate himself with the socio-cultural and socio-political organization.



"The Yoruba have a unique socio-political orientation and disposition; they are republican, egalitarian, deliberative, liberal and democratic.



"Members of our group, all over the world owe a profound emotional attachment to their apex socio-cultural organization, the Afenifere, and as such our sacred identity should not be desecrated on the whims, caprices and immediacies of self-vested interests.



"On the other hand, no person has a right to wake up and issue a far-reaching statement on behalf of Afenifere without consultations or a form of consensus."



Nevertheless, we have consulted widely and hereby express our belief in Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s presidential project and implore Nigerians to look beyond ethnic and religious sentiments and rally around his candidacy.



While our faction has looked beyond ethnic interest, we have considered the strengths, weaknesses, and imperfections of all the candidates who are on the ballot and have resolved, after wide and impartial consultation, that Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is the round peg that can fit the round hole in 2023.



His records are evidently accessible, as a two-term governor, a federal lawmaker, and a former Defense Minister. His administration recorded little to no case of religious or ethnic attacks and he remains the only governor who has allotted a 28 percent budget for Education as recommended by the United Nations.



“We are confident that his template and blueprint span beyond a religious and ethnic agenda and his framework to deal with insecurity is clearly achievable. We are however in talks with his team to ensure that the interests of Yorubas are taken on board and balanced with the interests of all other Nigerians."



The group added that its choice of a northern candidate as a Yoruba group points to the long-standing pastime of the movement, which existed as Action Group for several decades, as an all-embracing institution that puts credence, character, and content beyond tribe, religious or factional interest.

The Spokesperson of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Barr. Ladipo Johnson, on Saturday, 03 September 2022 expressed confidence that the party’s presidential candidate will defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the Labour Party during the 2023 general elections.

He assured Nigerians that the NNPP would return power back to the masses when it assumes power in 2023.

Pretty Okafor led Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), is set to hold its first National Executive Council (NEC) Convention and launch of PMAN Biometric ID card.
According to Okafor, the PMAN biometric ID card is done in partnership with Zenith Bank.

He said the launch of the biometric ID card will hold at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
Okafor also said after the unveiling of “the new and improved PMAN Biometrics ID cards, the cards will be issued to the first batch of registered members across the country.”

Asha Gangali, a Nigerian singer, rapper, and talent hunt coach, has affirmed to his compatriots, that the fame Afrobeats currently enjoys globally is at the expense of other genres such as Dancehall which has ‘fallen off’.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, Gangali, who will be a judge in the upcoming Naija Star Search Reality show, which is expected to focus mainly on Afrobeats, said that more efforts are needed to sustain the movement and implored Nigerians to see the talent show “as leverage to take Afrobeats to a greater height”.
“Everybody is shouting that Afrobeats getting Grammy recognitions but if you don’t manage it from home; if you don’t get a platform to continue to project the right vibes to the global audience, it’s going to wade off as Dancehall genre did,” he said.

We got there on the billboard at the expense of dancehall reggae. Do you think the reggae dancehall people are happy? We’ve dominated all their airwaves. Afrobeats has dominated but if you don’t manage it, we may lose the fame in the long run. That’s while we have to keep discovering new talents like we are seeing in this Naija Star Search,” he added.
He continued: “You will agree with me that our music has evolved over the years. We have fused so many genres from hip hop to R&B and reggae. We’ve always evolved. We took over hip hop just like we’ve taken over Amapiano. It has always been our thing. We took these foreign rhythms and beats and then interpreted them.”

In March this year, two years after Billboard discontinued its Reggae Digital Song Sales chart which ranked the top-downloaded Reggae songs, the magazine announced that it had joined forces with music festival and global Afrobeats brand Afro Nation to launch the first-ever US chart for Afrobeats Songs.

At the time, Billboard’s SVP of Charts and Development, Silvio Pietroluongo, had said his organization was proud to showcase the top songs and singers with the new weekly ranking, “as with much of the world, Afrobeats has grown tremendously as a genre in America”.   At the same time, Afro Nation founder Obi Asika had said that the last 10 years have seen Afrobeats explode into a worldwide phenomenon, influencing culture and fashion across the globe and that he was humbled to have made a contribution to growing the genre “alongside many talented, passionate people”.  
In November 2019, British disc jockey David Rodigan, had declared at a Dubwise media launch, that “Dancehall music has been replaced by Afrobeats” due to the overwhelming amount of Trap sounds being represented as Dancehall music.

Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall, which was played out in front of a live audience and three judges, produced stars such as 2015 Grammy nominee Devin Di Dakta, Deep Jahi, Tanto Blacks, Specialist, Jah Bouks and featured other stars such as Rygin King, Kalado and Stylysh. 
However, it was abandoned in 2018 after 11 seasons.

Iru Residents Call For Help As Oba Gbolahan Lawal Enforces 3-Day Curfew



The people of Iruland have once again called on the Lagos state government and the good people of Nigeria to save them from the death-grip of the Oniru of Iruland, Gbolahan Lawal, who is hell-bent on destroying what is left of the pastime, culture, and heritage of Iruland.



The Oniru of Iruland, since his inception, has made headlines on many occasions for all the wrong reasons varying from land-grabbing, intimidation of royal bloodlines, enforcement of toll gates, and many other vices that make life difficult for the residents of Iru.



Gbolahan Lawal, who is popularly referred to as King Nebuchadnezzar of Iruland, in the early hours of today, Monday, 01 August 2022, released a statement to enforce a 3-day curfew so as for him to carry out self-vested spiritual divination in the guise of cleansing the community.



Speaking with a cross-section of concerned residents, it is gathered that the immediate past Oniru of Iruland, Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru in his 25 years of reign, never carried out Oro activity outside the confines of the palace.



A resident who is a medical doctor told newsmen that the decision of Oba Gbolahan to conduct Oro traditional festival at this time of theightened insecurity in the nation, is insensitive, cruel, and dangerous.



“I have never seen such height of insensitivity and gross carelessness by a royal father. “He depicts the picture of Adolf Hitler of the Nazi’s in the 1940s who disregarded the right of the people to life. "Where else in a developed community would any sane royal father, who claimed to be educated, carry out fetish festival and force innocent residents into staying at home by force”.



"This is not a village. "There can be emergencies; there can be women in labour, and there can be people who may need urgent medical attention and may have to leave their homes during these periods. Nothing describes insensitivity and reckless disregard for the people’s right to movement and life, as this wicked decision. Even Lagos state has lifted the curfew of COVID”, "His action has exposed his level of illiteracy and incompetence as a royal father", he said.

Another resident who is a banker blamed the Lagos state government for turning blind eye to all of Oniru’s insensitive actions in the past, which has given him the courage to go ahead and establish a new rule by himself at the detriment of the residents of Iru.



“Go and check history, the late Oniru has never done any festival that will restrict the movement of people for more than 20 years. Why now?



“I feel Governor Sanwoolu needs to rise to the occasion and call him to others because this is not the right time to throw our constitutional right to movement in the bin”#



“There have been threats of attack by bandits who claimed they are already in Lagos. Lagosians are now more security conscious than ever before. This is not the time to force people to sit at home because anyone wants to achieve his motive illegitimately. Lagos state government needs to rise to this occasion before Oba Gbolahan’s thugs begin to attack people in their homes.



A key member of the royal bloodline who plead anonymity also hinted that Oba Gbolahan intends to sieve the 3-day Oro festival to intimidate, oppress, and attack the people whom he sees as a threat to his reign as Oniru. They believed his intentions are more sinister than the Oro practice.



He, however, sends SOS to governor Sanwoolu to take control of the situation and ensure that Oba Gbolahan reconsiders his desperate mission to shut down Iruland for 3 days.
