In some markets, you get the 1985 camry, but the parent company had stopped production of the 1985MY even if production, assembly and sales and was ongoing in other markets and moved to a new design with the 3S-FE 2.0l i4 and V6 models.

The argument was weather the toyota camry ever had a 1.8L engine or not.

I think it is settled now.

What type of engine?

The first and second generation camry, 1983 up till 1991 was powered by 1.8L i4 engines 1S-L, 1S-LU, 1S-iLU, to mention but a few.

There wr even turbo charged diesel 1.8L i4 engines; 1C-TL and 1C-TLC.

Although 2.0. Engines came into the camry picture from about 1985, the 1.8L engines were still in use till 1991

That's not enough reason to conclude on discarding your current transaxsle.

completely drain your ATF oil and change your oil filter first.
Valve body could also need servicing.

2.0
Auto
4 cylinder
The problem started with my car being reluctant to move on reverse gear except I rave it and it eventually stop moving on reverse gear all front drive were perfect. I therefore changed the gear box.
The new gear moves perfectly on reverse and drive but i later started experiencing car sliping back to gear 3 from 4 and it wont return back to 4.
We scan and it shows code 00652 we would wipe it would come back, check oil-atf level its OK.

The problem was from the valve body. Proper valve body service wld have solved your problem.

To prevent such occurrence in the future, find and use ATF-U.

It is as good as the Nissan Quest cos it is actually a Nissan Quest variant made by Nissan Motor Corp.

Parts are inter usable and any vehicle is as good as your maintenance culture.

Find any modern and updated mech shop and you will be fine.

When did camry start using 1.8 engine? The last time I checked, they used the 2.0L i4 3S-FE in 88-92 MY, 2.2L i4 S-FE from 93-02MY, and 2.4L i4 2AZ-FE from 03-08 and they upped it to 2.5L i4 engine.

1989 camry uses 1.8L i4 engine.

I need a Honda Accord transmission specialist. The car has received two replacement transmissions, but the problem persists.

Would not get into second gear, but kind of stabilises when it gets beyond this huddle. Don't know if there is a compatibility thing.

Did you scan you vehicle with a thorough scantool before going ahead to change ur transmission?

The problem isn't what you think it is. It might just be a little thing somewhere, a little fault with a sensor, your ECU or you are probably using the wrong tranny fluid. Pls get your vehicle scanned first (With a reputable scantool).

Sounds like your starter solenoid pushing the kick starter teeth into position to turn ur engine flywheel.

Apparently, ur kick starter teeth is wearing out hence the soft tapping sound you hear.

It really does not matter what engine he uses to power the vehicle, the point is he has a car fault and the problem is centred around excessive burning of fuel. As long as the job was done properly my responses are still the same.

With this kind of contraption, so many corners must have been ignorantly cut to get that vehicle moving. Its on that basis that I'm being discouraged to comment any further.

I'm not tryn to discourage you though.
