Hello peps.I am new mazda family member.I just got mazda cx 9 2008 tokunbo... (130,000km) I have read all the post and I seem scared to have bought a mazda product with problem faced by on mazda cars. Thinking may be I should sell d Suv.
Secondly, I need contacts of good mechanics.
Thirdly, which engine oil, engine coolant, and power steering fluid are to be used on the car.
I will appreciate any other advise.

Your vehicle manual recommends the 5w20 spec of engine oil, but for a warmer climate like ours, a 5w20 oil would run lighter than anticipated. So I would advice the slightly thicker spec of 5w30.

For your transmission;
If your CX9 comes with the 5speed auto tranny, you should use ATF M-V, Maxlife ATF or MERCON V specifications.

If it comes with the 6speed auto tranny, you can also use the Maxlife ATF, MV ATF or even the Toyota Type T-IV.

For your engine, use the 5w30 spec of any good brand

ATF oil type is marked on the dipstick of the transmission. Dextron III of any good brand.

Nissparts and Nurey, when it comes to Toyota ATF, there can be some confusion on what to use, especially for older models. Older manuals will recommend transmission fluids that have been discontinued. Toyota ATF Type T-IV is the most current generation of discontinued types T, T-II and T-III and a toyota specific product. It replaces these for use in older model Toyota. Continue to have your transmission flushed at the interval recommended by your owner's manual even if the transmission fluid claims to never need changing. Cues that there might be an ATF problem are low fluid levels, thickening, discolouration or a burnt smell. All of which can determined with the ATF dipstick.

A factory mistake cannot be corrected by anyone else except the factory itself and of course by a redesign of the said product.

From your words, I think you are looking for an aftermarket modification of the car you want to buy, which isn't a brilliant idea in my opinion.

I would say you go ahead and buy that vehicle of your choice and with the strict use of manufacturer recommended fluids and regular maintenance, you will be fine.

That engine is bad but you should change to mobil first of all to see if the smoking stops.

Most of them especially here in Nigeria has been refitted with inline 4 cylinder engines. That was why I asked that question.

...I refitted mine with an I4 engine back in the days and I still used the car till date.

You can go ahead to get a proper fuel relay but you must replace ur fuel pump.

If symptoms persists, change ur entire injector unit which includes the IAC.
