Oga, you should try to understand the difference between right and privilege before using the word.
Right is a "must" and cannot be bargained while privilege is "not a must" and can be bargained
Citizens have a right to subsidies, welfare or whatever you call it, the national wealth does not belong to politicians, you sycophants are a problem to Nigeria.

Countries all over the world redistribute national wealth to their people through healthcare, affordable food and housing, disability and unemployment payment etc. democracy is not about the people paying taxes and dying while politicians live like kings, democracy is about using national wealth to cater for the wellbeing of the people.

There is nothing wrong in the government setting up affordable policies to assist the poor.

However, the use of subsidies is one of the the worst ways to do so. Find alternatives.
Nothing wrong in subsidies, so sad that Nigerians are dumb, always supporting politicians to rip them off...can't the government be intelligent enough to do subsidy in the way it will benefit the people or are we that dumb?

In Egypt they have fuel cards issued by banks and subsidised by government through banking system.

it's a privilege not a right. It's not a must that government subsidies any commodity.
Are you in government or among the people?

It's citizens rights to enjoy the benefit of their national cake and common wealth. It is a right not a previledge, like I said, either you are a sycophant or ignorant of what a democracy is and who the people are in a democracy, you people worshipping politicians are either ignorant or sycophants, because politicians are the workers, the nation belongs to the people!

Where does your interest lies?

So you want politicians alone to enjoy the wealth of the state and the people groan and suffer?

If you are not in government you must be a sycophant, because a reasonable man or human being will stick with the people's benefit, as we all know Nigerian politicians are living large off the national wealth already.

Subsidies, welfare or whatever name you want to call it, national revenue must be redistributed to the people, after all costs of government have been met.
PoliticsRe: Subsidy Removal: Turnover, Profits Soar In Oil Companies by dederocs(m):
Government should subsidise for Nigerians, it's a people's rights to enjoy subsidies, government just need to look for intelligent ways to do it. Subsidies, welfare packages etc are ways the government give to the people what belongs to them, which is the commonwealth... subsidies is one of the most effective ways, as the majority enjoys it.

LOL...I always get tired of hearing how dangote is running a monopoly on cement, when other cement companies dey

You even did not mention MANGAL...the new comer. Already, I have seen people using it.

It's like people saying coke has a monopoly on coladrinks ...forgetting Pepsi exists, and here in nigeria, we have three or more soft drink manufacturers that make cola drink self.
Those people talking against lower prices for Nigerians are paid agents of marketers, they want to continue ripping Nigeria off. We must resist their fake narratives.

This to me looks like a set-up gift to me. We all know Dangote and his style of business, he is never for the people, not once has he ever been. Let's be careful or else we are gonna learn the hard way. I hope competitors spring up to equate his dominance.
The marketers in distribution sector won't disappear, or are you angry that Dangote want Nigerians to enjoy reduced fuel prices?

By engaging 4000 CNG trucks, he is reducing cost of distribution and increasing competition in the sector.

Lagos State governor, we are not enjoying electricity subsidy, EKDC rates are too high in Lagos, this will shrink the Lagos economy. Lower electricity prices boost production.

.

It's based on assumptions, and from past events. This current set up won't give room for competitors.

That reminds me, how much is bag of cement again?
Cement price increases as every other commodity due to inflation... fuel, beans, rice all increased, and there is no monopoly on cement.
LaFarge

They all sell cement and they sell close to same rate...you people always talk gibberish, we know you are paid saboteurs.

They all sell close to the same range, your statement on monopoly is fallacy.

Cement prices increase as a result of general inflation, prices of fuel, rice, and everything else is increasing not just cement.

The marketers of fuel won't disappear, more trucks will boost the competition in the distribution and lead to lower fuel prices for Nigerians...you are contradicting yourself, because bringing in more distribution trucks increases the competition in the distribution/marketing sector and reduce price for Nigerians.

Monopoly at play here, it happened in the cement industry, same tactic is being deployed.

I remember buying Dangote cement for 950 but now its 10 times the price
How long ago was cement N950...you forget to calculate inflation.... inflation lead to a general increase in prices, since when cement was N950 a lot of other prices of goods have increased, fuel, rice, beans, not just cement...the marketers competing to sell fuel won't disappear, they will still be there, and you forget fuel sells via international rates that everyone knows, Dangote will sell cheaper by cutting off middle men.

You saboteurs sound unintelligent.

One of the basic characteristics of a monopolistic market is price control. With all this strategic moves, PMS will definitely sell at 3k per liter in no distant time. Wait for it!
How did you come about this mathematics?

Or you just open your mouth because you feel like talking....the competitors won't disappear...the lowest prices wins.

Before Obi, Anambra was a crime scene.

Crime rate was so high that it overwhelmed law enforcement agents and the previous governor resorted to non-state actors called Bakassi Boys who came and started butchering people in the streets of Onitsha.

Even the motto of the state was “Home for All.”

But Obi came and all that changed. He restored sanity to Anambra State.

Criminals were ran aground.

He changed the motto to “Light of the Nation.”

And from then till today, Anambra has not remained the same.

That’s what Obi will do in Nigeria - restore order.

Like he said, he will put the lunatics who have taken over this asylum called Nigeria back in the cage and ensure only sane people take charge of any facet of governance in Nigeria from the presidency to ward councilors.

But it’s obvious people like you don’t want something like that because you will be at the losing end.
There is nothing and never been nothing special about Anambra even when Obi was there. Stop the hype. Soludo was a good choice, a far better man to lead a state, openness, detribalized, Frank, fair and steadfast, and he is improving Anambra.

PoliticsRe: High Cost Of Electricity Tariffs Hinders Development by dederocs(op):
The way to grow an economy is to keep more disposal income in the hands of the people, government can do this to ensure essentials, and necessities, like electricity, food, shelter are affordable, so people can spend more (government will make more taxes from manufacturers and businesses), save more (the bank's will have more funds to mobilise into investment and production), and invest more (creating jobs and multiplier effects), this is how an economy is driven.

This is why America is using credit card and credit system, the more people spend and or save the more the economy is mobilised...more disposal income in the hands of Nigerians is the key.
PoliticsHigh Cost Of Electricity Tariffs Hinders Development by dederocs(op): 8:52am On Jul 20, 2025
Federal government should subsidise electricity in conjunction with state government through tax concessions for power holding companies, so their cost of production reduces, for reduced energy cost. If Nigeria wants to be an industrialised, productive nation, power/electricity must be cheap, right now it's too expensive.

Every small and struggling business and household depends on electricity, if government wants to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians, work out modalities to reduce electricity tariffs now.

Now the poor is paying through their nose and political class getting richer, the dividends of democracy is not enjoyed by the people.

The people must enjoy the wealth of the nation either through low prices by concessions of government to companies on tax etc, joint venture between public and private sectors, subsidies or welfare, the wealth of the nation is not for politicians alone.
