Politics / Re: VAT Revenue Rose From ₦347bn To ₦549bn Under Tinubu – FAAC Report by Dee60: 10:52am On Apr 27 |
Mr Tola is a farmer. At the end of the season he harvested 100 tubers of Yam. He called his children and said I will give you first right of refusal to buy at N1000 each. They were happy. Mr Tola was happy also because he made some profits. Win-Win. Next season he harvested same 100 tubers of Yam. He told them that inflation (as a result of devaluation) affected the inputs he used. He raised the price to N2000 per tuber of yam. 3 of his 10 children could not afford and went on to starve. The other 7 bought less yams. At the end of first season he made N100,000. (100x1000). At the end of the second season he sold 60 tubers to those who could afford and made N120,000 (60x2000). 40 tubers were left to rot away. Should Mr Tola be throwing a party that he made more money while some of his children are starving? |
Politics / Re: VAT Revenue Rose From ₦347bn To ₦549bn Under Tinubu – FAAC Report by Dee60: 9:56am On Apr 27 |
theredaddy: They have not increased taxes. Tax is a % of revenue. Revenue is derived from Volume and Price. Price has gone up significantly. Volume has dropped. You get a nominal increase that does not mean growth. It is just the effect of price increase. If Naira gains value and prices drop, if volume remains as is today, the VAT will drop. It is just the price effect you are seeing. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: VAT Revenue Rose From ₦347bn To ₦549bn Under Tinubu – FAAC Report by Dee60: 9:52am On Apr 27 |
Devaluation in simple english means that you REMOvE value. Value Added Tax means the tax that is derived when value is added. Value has been grossly removed through devaluation leading to sharp increase in prices. You tax the new prices and get a bigger nominal tax. That is not growth. It is like one big club in London adding 1 behind their zero and claiming they have won by 5-10 |

Politics / Re: VAT Revenue Rose From ₦347bn To ₦549bn Under Tinubu – FAAC Report by Dee60: 9:47am On Apr 27 |
kettykin: Dont mind them. There is nothing to celebrate here. Under Tinubu price of PMS went from N147/litre to N600/litre and price of dollar from N630 to N1300. The ripple efect went round and all prices have become at least double. Even with ZERO growth the VAT should at least double. What this new report means is that the economy is actually in RECESSION (negative growth). What is there to celebrate in this? Simple Math and simple common sense is lost when people rule by propaganda. |
Travel / Re: Nigerian Couple Buys A House 2 And Half Years Of Moving To UK. by Dee60: 10:01pm On Apr 26 |
personal59: In 30 years after school many in Nigeria are still not owning anything! There is nothing bad with mortgage if youhave ajob. Mortgage is better than paying rent for 30 years and still not owning. As you can see the house belongs to them now, mortgage or no mortgage. It is their home. They can use that to access more facilities. They can renovate the way they like. They can plant flowers. They have an address they are not sharing with anybody. Please let them celebrate their new step and thank God. 30 Likes 4 Shares |

The writer is right. A friend told me how she decided to reduce or even stop going to her gym because the place has become a center for showing buttocks and breasts and she would not like to be associated with such. Gym wears are meant to be worn appropriately, but these days some women choose to wear their to seduce men. A lot is going on in gyms. Truth is that people are really out to seduce... 1 Like |
Business / Re: Naira Depreciates To N1,305/$ In Parallel Market by Dee60: 9:52am On Apr 25 |
Yankee101: Fake news. Even Bloomberg that publsihed the fake news have made clarifications. CBN has not dropped dollars in the black market for rates to drop. It is those hoarding dollars (presumably politicians) that threw out their dollars thinking the rates will keep falling. Now they have resumed hoarding. There is no single reason or fundamental for Naira to keep losing value except for corruption and economic sabotage. EFCC should identify and go after the saboteurs, hoping that Nigerians will not protest and start saying 'leave our man alone'! 1 Like |
Business / Re: Abuja Chinese Supermarket Owner Appears Before FCCPC, Store Reopened by Dee60: 9:18am On Apr 25 |
kelbranty: What was the guy looking for in a private facility? I can choose to sell things from my house only to people I know. That is private. FCCPC was just flexing muscles for nothing. There was no need to have sealed the place. It is important to seperate emotions from reality. There are places like this in Lagos. They do home chinese cooking for family & freinds. What is bad in that? From the look of things, there are no adverts, there is a locked gate etc. What is anyone doing there? What would you go there to buy? |
Education / Re: Lead British School Student Bullied, Slapped By Other Students Over Boyfriend by Dee60: 11:01am On Apr 23 |
johnvictor82: Typical nonsense reaction, pretending that they are not aware that bullying is going on under their noses. It goes beyond the school management though, some of the blame goes to the parents (especially mothers). I have seen a case where a boy was punished for wrong-doing only for the mother to come to the school to fight the teacher and to warn the teacher never to touch his son. Some parents say things like - 'It is teaching that I paid you teacher for, dont ever punish my son, just stay with your teaching'! This attitude of parents is what makes teachers and principals to turn their backs at some of the wrongs the kids do! 2 Likes |

Chinese sell things that can irritate Nigerians. What if you go in there and you find lizards of different types and sizes, cocroaches and stuff like that? They also have places inside inside where the eat! If you are close to a Chinese they will take you inside. It may not be discriminatory as people are concluding! |

We spend all the money in the world to carry contigents to several countries to beg them to bring in their funds and invest here. Then we chase those who accept to come. Do we think these nations are stupid? Can you count how many serious investors have fled in the last 20 years? ShopRite has sold out. We once flew Virgin Nigeria! They didnt stay here for 10 years and they vowed never to come back. Where is GSK? Where is Unilever? We just want to run a 'satchet economy' here. Sad. Chase them away and be wonering who will employ your citizens. 1 Like |

Advise the man to find a true Bible believing church. He needs to get saved. he needs to learn from God's word. He needs prayers. What he may not realize is this - If this story is true (and not fiction) the lady may have others plans apart from relocating. The man should not take the other threats from the lady lightly. |

ufotunang: You have a point but you need to check out Cuba abd North Korea. It is this kind of reasoning that killed their economies and threw their people to hunger. Nigeria is exporting a lot. We can and should export more. Our earnings from crude oil (and now from refined oil) surpasses the genuine demand for forex. The problem is with the crude oil. There is no accountability and no transparency. The dollars we ought to have to keep a healthy economy may be hidden in toilets and latrines around the country. 1 Like |
