kenniy: the summary is i just got my visa smiley

the very long story is: this morning was chating with kayce when i saw this on vfs: "Your application has been assessed by the Canadian High Commission/Consulate General of Canada and is being returned to the centre where you applied".. i know that means they sending back my documents to vfs..i also know most likely its not yet at vfs, as the status will be ".... ready for collection..." when it gets there..
ordinarily,as is done before, i woulda assumed that is my visa. but cos like most people that got visa since january, they would get an email saying "Your application to study or work in Canada has been approved." ..and as at then, i haven't gotten that mail. i freaked out (ask kayce wink).. cos i also know CDHC could still reject someone after medicals. i original tot i'll wait till 'morrow cos i wasnt with the slip (i stopped carrying it in my bag just last week after i was told by a nigerian cdhc official that they not gonna issue visa for me yet with more than 6 months to resume school)..i eventually got someone to bring the slip for me when i was sure i wouldnt sleep right knowin there is a schrodinger's cat right in my domain..
when i got there, my documents where still in transit, so had to wait for like 2 hr..eventually i got the package, and shakingly, i opened it and went straight to my passport..then i smiled..

sorry i bored u all, just so ecstatic at the moment..lol..yh..i also got that email too few mins ago..
Congrats man, this is great news

Etinosajay: @deebia I use to share this notion of yours about NIPOSt. I used Courierplus on three ocassions (4days delivery), but then I decided to try NIPOST (for any reason), and YES regular postage, it got delivered in approximately 3 weeks.
Really? Didnt know... Cos some of the documents I've gotten via regular posts frm the U.S take like 8weeks or more
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 6:26am On Mar 07, 2013
Etinosajay: For d record, its not 2cent (I no be musician), its Etinosajay. Quick question, why do u want to study that course? Eh? Firstly to improve your employability in so-so sector in Nigeria. To acquire knowledge necessary for starting so-so venture. That's same reason why u would leave Canada, amongst others. Wetin else? And u said something about right senses. Something tells me u feel like telling the VO if he/she asks you, if you will leave their country after studies, "VO, which kind stupid question be dat? ARE U A LEARNER?
LoooL Etinosajay I dey tell U... But really good sha, U shed more light. That was the reason I was hoping to give to - being useful in a sector in Nigeria, but I was thinking it may not be convincing enough. All well and good, thanks... U ve been helpful

I swear I hope I can ask those VOs if them be learner hahaha for believing one will come back
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 11:31pm On Mar 06, 2013
Etinosajay: I want to assume you have been practising how to write an SOP before. List out your points, and then compose a awe and intriguingly convincing SOP. Because u wouldn't be there to explain to the VO, but ur sop might do some work about that. That's ma 2 cents broda
Alright 2cent, thanks... But I jst need a point U need to give him to explain you will come back. Its easier to write why one wants to study a course and why Canada.... But that reason why one 'll leave Canada in his/her right and correct senses and come back to Nigeria, if not family, spouse or family business/earlier employment, my brother, I wan know
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 11:24pm On Mar 06, 2013
Etinosajay: @All @earthgreeners @Fhemmy @justwise

Anyone used Nipost Registered Mail delivery option before? I need an idea of how long it takes to deliver a letter to Canada. I plan on sending a letter to Canada. Courier isn't an option right now.

Thanks
If its NIPOST, U might want to chill till that woman who is 5months pregnant in your hood delivers the baby in her womb...

But if the NIPOST you mean is EMS speed post... It takes exactly one week to get ur documents delivered to a location in Canada
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 11:15pm On Mar 06, 2013
Etinosajay: In your own case, your SOP should firstly be d no-brainer. You should poor passion into what you write, which obviously should be related to ur UG (I.e for a PG applicant). !!
Thanks Etinosajay, U r appreciated.... But please explain that part of ur reply
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 6:40pm On Mar 06, 2013
Pls guys, I have a problem... Following this thread, I discovered the common ties in the statement of purpose stuff are employment, spouse or parent's business. Please pple, if my father has no business I am coming back to, and I have no spouse, and I'm still jobless after NYSC, what can be the content of statement of purpose for such person? Because this home tie thing na problem. Make these VOs sef open brain down say no one wey step into Canny go come back... Infact, I never hear am b4.

Pls help, what other ideas can be chipped in?

earthgreeners: 1) How long does it take to receive a document sent via regular post from Canada.

2) Anyone here received a letter from MUN?
Regular post from Canada is not less than 6weeks o cos my TOEFL test score frm the U.S took up to 2months by regular post. Unless its a courier service like purolator and UPS that takes a week
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 3:11pm On Mar 04, 2013
bumdish: If a Dad has 50M and transfers 6M to a child's account for the purpose of education, then nothing spoil but if a Dad has 10M and deposits a whopping 6M (whopping in relative terms), then there might be room for suspicion. Bros, you too think about it, does such things happen in reality.
I don't mean to say your concept isn't cool but if your dad has enough funds and proof to bank roll your education, then simply list him as such without pushing the envelop too far. Besides, this is simply an opinion, no need to drag it.
Bumdish I get U perfectly. There's nothing like dragging it, its jst a thought and U av made ur point clearly and I must say U shed more light on it, thanks.

mosquitoway: oga earthgreeners,I see team fall have taken over the thread,I wish u all the very best and success in the trv pursuit,I'm leaving for canada this morning, and wanted to thank everyone for their contributions,I would be headed to the york area..so I might be able to assist people applying to york university to physically go there and confirm details of admission etc,Oga Siga, thank you for also still being here.God bless you all,see you in canada
Congrats man! Safe trip...
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 7:30am On Mar 04, 2013
bumdish: @deebla, while your approach sounds cool it would result in a natural RED flag. If I where the VO,I would start looking for holes to flaw this move, cos it would be hard to find a father who will deposit such an amount into a child's account well in advance before school starts. What exactly is the father trying to achieve here. If you must go this route, then you should be ready to show that there is nothing obviously abnormal in this move. Like showing that your dad regularly deposits such amount in your account or that he has done something similar in the past and he is willing to do it again or that he has so much money depositing 6M in your account even when you do not immediatly have need of it wouldn't hurt his cash flow. And very importantly, you most be ready to show that the money actually moved directly from your fathers account into your own account, meaning you will need to produce your statement as while as your dads' reflecting a synchronization.
In summary, if you ask me, I think it might do more harm than good. Anyhow, that's my thought, you asked for it.
Exactly! It is because it is rare for a father to drop such amount of money without fear of the son spending the money that I think its a good idea. I feel it makes it show clearly that they mean serious business and that the money is solely for education in Canada. I feel it will be stated in a letter by the father that the child has mentioned the exact amount needed for the programme hence the fund transfer at one (maybe this is not good enough sha).

In the aspect of showing that he regularly deposit; putting in mind that 6months bank statement is required, what if a related fund transfer only happened in undergraduate days which is 2yrs frm this anticipated PG programme pursuit? What can one do?

And in the aspect of fund transfer synchronization, well, that is a must... Cos its the only proof that it genuinely happened. If the statement of account shows the fund was transferred from the father's account, isn't that not enough proof?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 7:14am On Mar 04, 2013
Siga: ...based on their requirements...they want to see 6 months bank statement of whichever acct u are submitting....
Ohhh! That's a hit on the leg. That might be a bad idea then if the child's statement of account does not show any form of similar fund transfer in time past. What if similar fund transfer happened about 2 year ago? That definitely will not show up in a 6months bank statee.

And what if the child opened a new student account solely for that purpose? Would it be fair?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 9:36pm On Mar 03, 2013
Siga: ....Its not a bad idea...but its very important to still fulfil CDHC requirements which one of is the 6months bank statement....
Oga Siga, thanks but I need clarification. Are U talking about 6month bank statement for the parent's account or the child's account? Cos as I said, I tot it that the money will be dropped at once by the parent and its possible that the child has relatively no money b4. Or are U talking about the parent's account? Must it be submitted with d application despite the fact that he has transferred the money already?

xtus: Ur idea is not dat far from mine. Is a good idea to me. All u got to do is for ur sponsor (dad) to state dat in his sponsorship letter and also provide a good bank statement too jus to show his own financial capability. If ur school requires u to pay any installmental fee, plz plz plz...... Do pay it b4 applying for ur trv
Really? Ok thanks. Have U done medicals?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by deebla: 6:08pm On Mar 03, 2013
Pls house, help me look at this idea in the area of sponsorship. Is it a good idea if, in the case of a parent e.g father sponsoring a child, the father sends like 6million naira to the child's account at once. And then, the father writing a letter stating that he wishes to give all that the child needs at once for the successful stay in Canada. For example if tuition for PG programme plus 10000dols plus flight ticket will amount to about 5.5 million or so?

I just thought of it and I felt it is fair enough. But I need to know the thought of pple who have had the experience, whether it is allowed or not... Bearing in mind that application formats or packaging is not a one-way thing... It could be diverse.

Pls house, ur opinions are welcome

lucky Don: my popsi's union bank accot enjoys a reasonable cash flow but why i didnt use it was because we are five siblings and i reasoned dat the VO may refuse my app on financial grounds.the acct was around 4 million when i applied.i want to ask a question pls;if i apply again and fill in the family info form that i am the only child of my parents, will cdhc notice it since i have filled that we were five in number?
Pls don't lie about it, they already av ur data. Don't toil with life ban

Stupidd network. My BIS is still there, wasting away. I couldn't bear it anymore and I had to subscribe for glo when I have barely used 2week outta my monthly subscription.

I called them telling them the network situation in my area. Quite alright, two of their staff called me back to get details of the problem (one of them is a base station engr.) But till now, the network has not been better. I have tried to text those staff telling them that the network has not improved but they didn't reply me.

MTN is just too useless!!!!!!

@surecan, he doesn't need to use the company's letterhead and even shouldn't. Also note that a company cannot sponsor you even if you own the company, unless you are going for a training that will benefit the company.

mercylicious: It won't make you nt serious.
Cdhc website states that the processing time is 4 to 6 months from Nigeria.
Write you school a mail to defer d start date due to processing time of CDHC Nigeria. Make sure u quote dt link below;
http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/nigeria/visas/processing-traitement
.aspx?view=d.

I hope that helps.
Thanks... I have contacted the school, however, they said I av to submit another application for september. But the good news is... I do not av to start sending transcripts and TOEFL score over and over again. So once I pay the application fee, my file is being forwarded to the Dean for assessment.

So that makes me a September applicant. Where my pple athuh grin
