Hello Nairalanders, This is my first post in a looong time and I salute everybody in the house. My parents and brother applied for visitor visa to visit me since last August but no response till now. I am reading here and discovered I might have to apply through the new portal. The process in the new portal has started and managed all of their application in a group. However, when they completed all the forms, only the following documents were asked to be uploaded. Parents (compulsory doc) -National ID card -Data page -Marriage cert Optional -Consent personal information -Employment letter (strange, since they are both retired) -Additional docs Brother (Compulsory doc) Data page Optional -Consent personal information -Employment letter (even the description of this letter says "from employer in Canada". Sooo strange) -Additional docs I am just a little confused. There is no ask of my invitation letter, my canadian passport, my bank statement (since I will be sponsoring them for flights and staying with me) and other documents that prove ties back to Nigeria. This is the 2nd time I am applying for them and the process was a little different then and more documents and forms were needed to be provided . First time was in 2018, they were all given visas and they only spent 3 weeks here but visas are now expired Profiles Parents are retired Brother is in post grad school in nigeria and also working, he is single and has no national identity card I am inviting them and I am a Canadian Citizen Thanks in advance |

Avalon316: To respond to the issue of issuing visa for exact number of years or months or so; It is important to know that applying for study permit or TRV inside Canada is as simple as applying for your Nigerian passport in Nigeria. Many things are overly simple and easy when you are inside Canada than outside. In essence, if your Study permit is about to expire and you anticipate you will still be in school after it expires, all you need is a letter from school and study permit extension is provided by CIC. 1 Like |

domex007: The same way you do it if they were in naija... Get him to pay for your school admission fee such that it can reflect in the bank statement or send money to you, indicating the reason for sending as admission fee, visa application fee, e.t.c. Though, I am not sure as how to send money directly to naija account from a U.S account but if it is possible, so as to reflect he is assisting you, then do it by all means. I only believe this is just an extra perk that give some genuineness to your application. So if you can, why not? 1 Like |

Hi guys, I come in here once in a while to check the forum and majorly search for members that need help with info about Concordia University of Edmonton or Edmonton as a whole. I have been reading recently and it is sad to see folks are really being refused on per second billing these days. I want to believe there are still gurus here, even though I can't see the likes of Femmy, Oga Siga, Britiko, Playpays that were here in 2013. A little advice; Please y'all should ensure that your sponsors have previous history of assistance provided to you prior to deciding they want to help you with school. That way, you will be distinguished from those who are just arranging sponsors - and even if it is arranged and you still manage to show previous assistance history, then even VO will clap and say "well play, you too get sense. We want people like you". An example will be (1) Sponsor's account statement showing that he/she paid for your school admission fee or visa application fee; guys, these small things matter (2) Sponsor's account showing probably a monthly or bi-monthly assistance Please do not just use any sponsor with zero history of one assistance or the other; I believe it shows genuineness and disproves you are just begging the person to use his/her account for visa purposes. Believe me, as y'all know, even one's uncle or aunt can be arranged on the terms that you will only use the account and he/she will have nothing to do with payment of your school fees once visa is out. VOs are not dumb folks... Above all, it is not of him that runneth nor of him that willeth, but of God that showeth mercy. The God-factor is still the priority! I wish you all the best. Canada is a good place to be, do not give up the struggle yet. Be encouraged! 15 Likes 2 Shares |

Jesunro: Hello Deebla, these pple say dem neva see my medicals result oo. Abeg House make una join me for prayers o. I checked Consultant Practise today and the receptionist that attended to me the day i went for medicals said maybe it got missing in transit or something that i shud try and mail CDCH to send dem a mail to resend my medicals to London, not Paris again, that they dont use Paris anymore. The matter tire me o. What do you guys think? Sorry I'm replying late but I think Mama Charlie daughter said it all... send an email to that address cos I did the same too and to my surprise, they replied saying my medical file was locked by the embassy. How true that is, I dunno. Again, those girls at consultant s practice are only figure heads... they kept saying my results have been sent until I met the doctor s and they removed the cloth from masquerade face say dem never send am. So you can actually demand to see one of the doctors to have a clearer view of the situation from their end. Meanwhile, keep checking on the embassy too. You will surely share your testimony! 1 Like |

Just a quick one.... Here's the statement of purpose i submitted. I thought it may be a useful format to those who are about applying. It might have its errors but like i said, its just to be used as a format. It's definitely not the best but i believed it would have played a big role in my application. I had no proof of coming back into Naija. No landed property, house docx, nothing, other than stating what i stated in these letter. But i had God sha. Prayer is the key thing When I ended my secondary education in 2003, electronic payment system was the latest technology to the best of my knowledge as at that time. Though, such technology was not yet available in Nigeria as I learnt from my uncle who has just returned from Germany. I dreamt of this wonderful means of transaction in my country and so much anticipated its arrival. In 2008, when I was about starting my university degree, I heard about the operation of visa and master cards in Nigerian banks. I was glad to hear about this development being a student studying a degree in Computer with Electronics. But unfortunately, I heard about a bad incidence that had come to place in my 2nd year, due to lapses in the so-called advancement. One of my classmates told had told me that his sister bought goods worth an equivalent amount of $150CAD online with her MasterCard. Few hours later, she received subsequent debit alerts on her phone till her account read the minimum balance. Immediately, I recognized the problem was due to lapses in information systems security. I figured that if there had been adequate security put in place, the fraudulent act would not have come to play. That one scenario got my interest in information systems security and how to prevent access to sensitive information by unauthorized persons, including ensuring secured electronic transactions. Although, I gained considerable IT skills while on placement during my University Degree, I have also since then been highly ambitious and I desired to further pursuit a career path in Information Technology. In pursuing this career path, I developed a personal development plan which enabled me identify my educational needs and set myself certain objectives in this regard. After my university degree, my father assured me of his support for a master’s degree course of my choice. So I went in search for something that involved information Systems Security. None of our universities offer a course in the management of information systems security. A course that is very close is Masters in Information Technology at the University of Lagos, which is not core in Information Security. This prompted me to widen my search to a global terrain where I found a perfect match at the Concordia University College of Alberta, a course called Masters of Information Systems Security Management (MISSM). I have since been working on getting admission into the university and it has now been granted. After completing my Master’s degree program, I have planned to come back to Nigeria to my family. Also, to invest into any company in Nigeria that is wise enough to recognize my potentials because I will consider myself a great asset with the pool of knowledge and skills I would have acquired. Information in any organization is vital and there is need for it to be guided jealously. My job will be to securely manage and prevent such information against breach and unauthorized access. Also, my father has registered a business and he is investing in this soon, his recent decision to allow me manage the business when I’m back doubles my employment opportunity when on my return. In conclusion, I will be glad if I’m given the opportunity to make my dreams come true by granting me visa to acquire these rare knowledge and skill, so I can contribute my quota to securing electronic information in Nigeria. Yours Sincerely, …………………………… xxxxxx xxxxxx 7 Likes |

Jesunro: yep, i have been to the childrens' practise, the doctor showed me by himself that it was sent. i applied via vfs on the 2nd of May, was supposed to have resumed with the Fall students, now i was made acquire a new start date which is in Winter. 7th of Jan to be precise. It is quite unfortunate that, at this point, there is nothing one can do again than to pray... because consultant practice said they av sent it and CDHC said they avent gotten from France; So the problem is in France and one cant even get there. This was exactly my ordeal with them and I kept going there and going there till the lady on phone told me I don't need to come again, that I'm just disturbing myself. Even the gatemen said I don finish their forms cos I fill forms like every other day. However, I was also told then that a list was being compiled, dunno if its true or not... I asked them if I can go for another medicals, they said no! I did medicals 31st July but TRV not issued until Sept 19th; like 51days or so Just keep going like once a week and keep praying... good that U are resuming January now... And I think one way or the other, Consultant practice have their own issues cos my results had not been sent to France like a month after I did medicals when I visited them, they then sent it 3days after. And if I remember correctly, Playpay's result was not sent until he visited them like 2weeks after he did medicals. So in a way, for medical hopefuls, if U can avoid Children practice, it will be better... tho a good number of pple who did it there got their results sent to CDHC promptly too, but I hardly hear of such problems with asaju 2 Likes |

kclexa: Yea, I'm in Concordia University College of Alberta and currently in the program, Master of Information Systems Security Management and the course is very good. All those that have finished the programme are doing great, so there are no doubts. Yea I had some problems with consultant practice but it was resolved later, not only me had the problem then. But the problem continued when France didn't send my results to CDHC on time. I dunno what really the problem is but also, I met some pple whose medical results were not gotten on time too by CDHC from France. The delay is very rare tho as only a few experience this... I don't understand what red flag U are talking about |
