xterra2 thank you I was wondering too because I have been following the politics in Ivory Coast. Gbagbo's tenure was made unbearable by France because he refused to succumb to their wishes. If you have been to French Africa you will observe something the leaders are only stooges for France. SO the issue of Gbagbo did not start with the election its been long. The problem in the education sector has been a subject of debate for so long. Not much seem to have been done. We keep talking without proffering a solution.
!. Something is wrong with the foundation. Imagine our history is not nationalistic. You will be surprised at how little this generation knows about people like Awolowo, Azikiwe, Ahmadu Bello and the role they played in the history of Nigeria.

2. Secondly, the curricula in schools are not stable. The books that were used in a particular year might be different from that of another year. So the stability that is much needed is missing.

3. The illustrations that are used are alien to msot of the kids in school. Take a look at some of the books used in nursery schools. They talk about animals and weathers that the children cannot relate with in their immediate environment. Do not get rme wrong I believe education should be universal in nature, but it should first of all be applicable to your immediate environment.
