WTF is this?

I have noticed the sudden 'Nationalisation' of Islamic festival since Yar'Adua became President.

State Governments are spending their budgets on sending people on Hajj. . . .House of Reps giving Eid bonuses to members. . . .not to talk of all the other Government schemes to allow pilgrims go to Mecca that I can't remember. . . . . Is Islam being socialised?. . . . Need I remind all that this money comes from the blood of Niger Delta and the sweat of taxpayers. . . . this is unacceptable!

WTF?

SportsEzeugo Resigns As Coach Of India's Churchill Brothers by DeepZone(op): 9:41pm On Sep 30, 2008
Ezeugo resigns as coach of India's Churchill Brothers
By Christian Okpara

SUPER Eagles' former midfielder, Emeka Ezeugo, has resigned from his position as technical adviser of India's Premier League club, Churchill Brothers, citing personal reasons.

Ezeugo told The Guardian yesterday that he was forced to leave the job owing to the constant interference of the management of the club in the team's technical affairs. The USA '94 World Cup star said he could no longer tolerate the constant meddling of the officials with "matters purely technical" hence his decision to leave the team.

"The CEO/Patron wanted to tell me the players to play and the system to adopt, and I told him that he had no use for a coach if he knew so much," he said. "He insisted on having his, but I told him that the consequences would be his responsibility and not mine.

"Since I was not telling him what he wanted to hear, he brought me a letter that stated that I was resigning due to irreconcilable differences. I refused to sign it even when he threatened to deal with me. And he said he had fired me.

"This development came after we had played just six games, losing one and winning five. I am not worried at the development because that is the nature of my job and the life I chose to live."

Before transferring to Europe during his playing career, Ezeugo played for Calcutta clubs - East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting - when he came to India as student in late 1980s. Later on, he had a short stint with Mohun Bagan. Ezeugo, who represented Nigeria in the 1994 World Cup in the United States and also in the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988, holds a USSF 'B' coaching license and a KNVB Netherlands international license.

He has a vast coaching record over the past seven years, as he completed his transition from player to coach, which included a stint as head coach at CUNY's Borough of Manhattan Community College in 2000. That year, his BMCC squad improved from worst (fifth place) in 1999 to first (CUNYAC Champions) in 2000.

Emeka went to Peru to play in the Peruvian Professional League and was coach of Deportivo Municipal, Lima for two seasons before moving back to the United States.

Sallah: Group berates N3m bonus for each Rep

By Bisi Olaniyi, Ado-Ekiti

The Ekiti Democratic Coalition Alliance has berated the members of the House of Representatives over the N3m each of them allegedly collected as Eid-el-fitri bonus.

EDCA, in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Monday by its National Coordinator, Mr. Morakinyo Ogele, said the largesse was another ploy to impoverish the masses.

The group asked the lawmakers to return the Sallah bonus to the treasury or face recall from their various constituencies.

It, however, commended the senators for not collecting the money. The group advised the anti-corruption commissions to immediately probe the payment.

EDCA also described the bonus as an insult to the intelligence of Nigerians, after the lawmakers had earlier “awarded themselves jumbo wardrobe, car, constituency, stationery and other allowances on assumption of office.”

It noted that it was unfortunate that each senator had been taking home not less than N20m monthly, with each member of the House, collecting N12m every month.

EDCA said, “These people in the House of Representatives are rich enough to take from their legitimate income to celebrate Eid-el-Fitri or any other religious festival.

“Religion is a personal matter. State fund that is supposed to be used to cater for the welfare of the masses, should not be wasted on the celebration of a religious festival.”

Ogun to join oil states soon, says Daniel
From Lawrence Njoku, Enugu

THREE oil exploration sites are currently being developed by the Ogun State government with a view to making the Federal Government take them over as part of the oil wells in the country.

Governor Gbenga Daniel, who disclosed this yesterday in Enugu where he was conferred with a chieftaincy title by the traditional ruler of Nike Community, Igwe Julius Nnaji, said with the state efforts on the exploration sites, it would soon join the league of "oil state in the next couple of months."

The governor said: "One of the things our administration did when it came on board was to conduct a survey on the resources available in the state. I can confirm to you that there is an oil and gas deposit in Ogun State. I don't want to politicise it, but I am hoping that in the next couple of months, the state would be declared as one of the oil-producing states of the country."

He said his administration has embarked upon several development projects aimed at taking the state to greater heights.

Daniel explained that as part of these efforts, he recently travelled to Hong Kong to represent the state at an economy meeting, which dividends, he assured, would soon begin to manifest in the state through partnerships with Hong Kong investors.

He denied speculations that he was nursing a presidential ambition in 2011, stressing that being lucky to rule Ogun State twice, his priority was to leave indelible development footprints all over the state.

Daniel, who also spoke on godfatherism, argued that there was nothing wrong with it, as according to him, it is a means to impact experience and wisdom on the younger generation of politicians.

He, however, added that as a politician, he would resist any godfather who would want to dictate the pace at which his administration should move or hold it back in other ways.

Daniel said the notion in some quarters that attaining a position of authority automatically makes one the leader of the people was untenable.

On his relationship with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Daniel said the latter, as the chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remained his leader, whom he must listen to at all times.

His words: "I have no qualms with Chief Obasanjo. He is my leader, he is the chairman of our party's BOT and in the Yoruba tradition, somebody who has been Head of State and President for about 11 years, there are things he may know that I may not know as a young man. If at my age, I want to equate myself with Obasanjo, then something is wrong with my head."

He denied insinuations that he has disagreement with lawmakers in the state over mismanagement of funds, which could lead to his impeachment.

The governor said for such to be effected, the legislators must have proofs of constitutional breaches against him, stressing that he had not breached the constitution in any way.

Daniel restated the need for all zones of the federation to be giving an opportunity to rule the country.

He, however, faulted calls for the office of the President to be rotated among the zones.

Man arrested with mum’s head - Plans to remove brother’s head also

Tuesday, September 30, 2008
IT was a shocking discovery on Friday when a man was arrested with the decomposed head of his mother. The police in Benue State arrested one Teriyil Igbalumun with the said head in Mbativia in Gboko Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Samuel Jinadu, the policemen arrested the man after they got a tip-off, adding that the man was arrested while attempting to dig the grave of one of his brothers to remove his head.

He disclosed to journalists that the man had removed the decomposed head of his mother who died in 2002 from her grave and had kept it in his room. He added that the man claimed he was worshipping the head daily in his room.

On searching the room, the policemen found the head in one part of the room and when he was interrogated on how he got the head, the suspect admitted that it was that of his late mother.

He said that the suspect severed his late mother’s head early this year and was on the verge of cutting off his late brother’s head too when the police caught him as he was digging the grave.

Jinadu said they were still investigating the suspect to know why he engaged in such an act, adding that it was strange that any sane person would dig up the grave of his mother and sever the head.

Gov in auto crash - Bank manager, 8 others die in accidents

From Jude Ossai and Uchechukwu Olisah
Tuesday, September 30, 2008
IT was Providence that saved the Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi, as his car was involved in an accident on Monday on his way to this year’s Igbo Day celebration.

In other three tragic incidents, a 30-year-old bank manager and eight others died in three auto accidents on Monday. Governor Obi, who recounted the accident at the Michael Okpara Stadium venue of the Igbo Day celebration, disclosed that he was saved by God as his vehicle was hit by another car along the Onitsha-Enugu express road. He disclosed that his vehicle was badly damaged.

He also disclosed that the accident occurred because of bad roads as the driver of the other vehicle tried to avoid a pothole when he swerved to his convoy’s side and hit his vehicle.

Nine persons, including a 30-year-old branch manager of FinBank (formerly FirstInland Bank), University of Port Harcourt branch, Mr. Stanley Okoye, died in separate accidents in Delta State and Abuja.

The FinBank manager died on the Warri-Ughelli road when his vehicle, Honda Civic with registration number AQ 25 YEN plunged into the Ekakpamre River, near Eruemukowhoarien in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state, a development that left all the occupants of the car dead.

Similarly, four persons perished in multiple accidents which involved four commercial vehicles on Asaba-Isele-Ukwu road, also in Delta State.

The Benin Zonal Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Zakari Ndah, who confirmed both accidents, said the one involving Mr. Okoye might have occurred because of lack of concentration since it took place around 10:30 a.m. when traffic was light.

The FRSC boss added that the commission, with the help of local divers and the use of a crane by men from Setraco Construction Company Limited, was able to recover the body of the bank manager and that of another occupant of the car.

He, however, said they were yet to recover the body of a third occupant of the vehicle. According to Ndah, persons who died in the multiple vehicle accidents on the Asaba-Isele-Ukwu road were killed on the spot while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The FRSC commander decried the attitude of drivers who often disregarded safety regulations, especially on major highways, just as he urged drivers to always concentrate whenever they were at the wheel, adding that it was risky to answer or make phone calls while driving.

The corpse of the late bank manager was said to have been deposited at one of the hospitals at Ughelli, while the corpses of those who lost their lives along the Asaba-Isele-Ukwu road were said to have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre mortuary, Asaba.

The Eid-el-Fitr festivities in Abuja were also marred by a ghastly motor accident in which two men died. The vehicle conveying the men who were said to be on their way to supply drinks at Mpape, a suburb of Abuja, crashed into a parked earth-moving machine at a construction site near the NICON junction.

Mr. Sunday Oghenekaro, FRSC’s Head of Operations at the FCT Sector Command, told NAN that the driver and his boy lost their lives in the accident. Oghenekaro said the vehicle with registration number XK 925 JJJ, was conveying empty crates of beer when the accident occurred.

“The driver was on full speed and the bus ran into a stationary construction vehicle. “The motor boy fell off the bus and died instantly, while the driver died inside the bus,’’ Oghenekaro said.

He said that their bodies had been taken to Maitama General Hospital, adding that the vehicle was damaged beyond repairs. Mr. Ugochukwu Ukwuoma, who claimed to be working in the deceased’s company, told NAN that the two had supplied drinks to the company’s customers at Mpape and were returning to unload the empty crates in the Durumi area of Abuja.

who are those who "work" in God's vineyard? Pastors only? What of ushers, security personnel, church administrative staff? Do they also feed from the fruits of this sacrifice?
Churches pay their staff nowadays and those that do not receive salary do theirs as a voluntary service while doing something else to bring bacon home. The bible clearly states that pastors should feed fat from sacrifices made unto God just like Ifa priests feed fat from sacrifices made to the shrine.
Ask yourself how the early apostles "fed" from the fruits of the sacrifice . . . by getting themselves personal boats, golden chariots, clothes of silk and wool, the largest houses in the town and the finest of Rome's horses all in the name of the Lord?
That was a different time. See the depicted pictures of Luke, mattew etc. They wore expensive robes made with baumwolle and moccasin shoes . Andrew was described as a handsome man and I can see a vivid picture where he was walking the red carpet in Jerusalem dressed in Mink. Besides, there may be other things they bought back in the days for their personal pleasure. A pastor should be a prototype of abundant life and not tattered and wretched for our God is not wretched.

The fact that Ironsi was killed on a visit to the head of western region was enough proof that the Yorubas colluded with Hausas to kill Ironsi
Not to talk about Fajuyi walking out alive.,.,.,.,.
Today, history would have recorded that the Yorubas and the Hausa planned the death of Ironsi.
Big lie. Yorubas had nothing to do with the death of Ironsi. Are you telling me that they decided to kill their own because he refused to let go. They would've killed Ironsi anyways and just tie fajuyi up without messing with his life. Stop shifting the Ironsi murder on Yorubas because you and I know that Hausas killed him and continued to kill others in Nigeria. Next, somebody will come here and claim that Yorubas colluded with Abacha to wipe out their own kinsmen. Nonsense.
