In 2007, Oshiomole contested and won election as Labour Party candidate. INEC however declared Osunbor of PDP as winner but Oshiomole went to court and got judgment in 2008 which was when he was sworn and the reason Edo state joined the states with off cycle election.

In 2012, by the time Oshiomole was seeking re-election, he has joined ACN led by Tinubu and he won his re-election.

What this means is that he was a sitting governor when APC was formed in 2013 and hasn’t won any election for himself since then.
