imperiouxx: @free R1,

Congratulations mehn. This is always my joy in here. Do you now see that they won't just issue the visa like I said, once they see it too late to meet up. That's why those people are denied instantly based on resumption dates (quoting your words). Well, get down to US and enjoy your studies. Cheers!

@deevick,

By God's grace you're among the next to get that visa. Be strong friend.

@others,

With God, all things are possible.

@genxris,

You just have a standardize test result along with you. They might not even ask or ask and not emphasize on it during your interview. Believe me friend.
@ imperiouxx

Amen ooo my man. Thanks.

free R1: I joined this thread 2010 when I was just rounding up my UG, I patiently followed, searched for schools, took tests etc today! It finally paid off, I got d famous green ticket!!!

I got to the embassy 7:30, went tru d whole process nd got interviewed 12:45pm and it goes like dis

Me: Good afternoon
VO: Good afternoon
VO: pass me ur docs
Me: gave him
VO: Why do u want to go to d us
Me: study, graduate studies
VO: What skul
Me: told him
VO: what course
Me: told him
VO: why this skul
Me: among d skuls I applied to, only *** gave me a GA, d GA pays half of my tuition, gives *** and *** ( VO cuts in)
VO: u got scholarship
Me: No, GA, its gives some funding and benefit
VO: tell me abt the course
Me: defined the course, course structure and listed all the classes I would be taking
VO: did u do gre?
Me: No, I did gmat
VO: can I see
Me: sure, gave him
VO: who is paying for your course
Me: my dad
VO: can I see some financials
Me: gave him, and explained that cus of the GA der wud b less financial burden on ma dad
VO: do u av any paper work 2 show dat
Me: Yes, gave him emails from the school
VO: ok ur visa has bn issued it will b ready bla bla bal...nd I 2k d green ticket.

My observation: everyone b4 me dat did not take a standardized test was denied, another guy was denied cus according to d VO, his I-20 has expired ie resumption date has passed, then a lot of guys came unprepared, they knew nothing abt der skul nor program, I almost laughed @ a point, I just conpot cus me sef never get visa @ d time. @ all pls be prepared, be confident and above all, God factor-pray cus I got the nicest VO dat issued d most visas, dats God.
Congratulations!!!
And where was your interview at?

GboyegaD: Your sense of argument truly baffles me. It wasn't so compulsory you responded to his post and besides, he already stated that he knows the fees isn't paid in Nigeria and he is only willing to ease people the stress of going to Cotonou to pay. What you could have just done is to advise people to thread with caution and not trying to make him look dubious.
GboyegaD

''Na which one come be your own for this whole matter self''?.Seriously, your keen interest in this issue really baffles me myself. Because I really don't know why you are trying to blow this matter out of proportion.

Must you comment on the matter/issue that is not directly linked to you? Let the person in question respond to me and not you sir. I have made my point clear on the known (genuine) location and means via which sevis fee can be paid and which you yourself know.

I can't remember getting into argument with anyone on this thread since inception nor did I ever get into any with you previously. I beg free the matter.

This would be my last response to you GboyegaD on this matter. Peace.

bobell: @House:I just got my I-20 today but there is a mistake on my DOB.the school made a mistake on my Month...plz can I go with it to the embassy like that...plz need ur responds plz@
If the DOB you have on your i-20 does not correspond with the one on your international passport. I strongly advice you report this to your University and have them send you another one as quickly as possible, because DOB is a very important means of identification with reference to your other details. Best of Luck.

Yes u can but u can not know if an earlier date is available till u cancel the previous appointment
Oh, sorry I actually wanted to ask with respect to rescheduling already booked appointment and not the outright cancellation. So, the way to go is to login and click on reschedule appointment, then you click on cancel appointment bla bla, huh?

bankole23: Hi everyone, a friend introduced me to this thread, and I've read everything from the beginning( part 1) to this stage. I'm glad to inform you all that my visa was approved yesterday and I owe it to the good pple on this forum....y'all are great guys. Imperiouxx and a lot others...I doff my cap.

I feel indebted to come back here and tell you all my experience and it goes thus;

But first, I gotta tell you...God's favour is very important, cos the VOs are so un-predictable, infact the guy before me spent well over 10mins and he was still denied.

Me: Good morning sir
VO: Good morning

VO: Why are u going to the US?
Me: For a graduate degree in Geology

VO: Documents please...read through my I-20, which school are you going to?
Me: Told him

VO: Oh, which campus?
Me: Told him (cos my university is a consortium of colleges)

VO: What did you study as an undergraduate?
Me: Geology

VO: What are you going to study for Masters?
Me: Geology too

VO: What's your best Geology course?
Me: Geochemistry

VO: So what's Geochemistry?
Me: Geochemistry is bla bla bla...

VO: He waited a while like he was trying to digest what I just said, shook his head and said good

VO: So why did you choose this school particularly?
Me: For me tuition is very important, and the school's tuition @ so so dollars (always have those litu facts at ur finger tips)is very affordable compared to many schools in the US, also the school is in New York and I've lived in Lag for 10yrs now, so i love being around pple and because NY is a blend of many cultures and pple, I'm hoping to learn from them. I also mentioned a research being done by one of the Professors (by this time, he wasn't listening again....guess he had made up his mind)

VO: Which other school did apply to
Me: Mentioned 3 other schools

VO: So have you travelled out before?
Me: No

VO: Who is your sponsor?
Me: Brother

VO: What does he do?
Me: Works with........

VO: Which unit?
Me: Told him

VO: Statement of account pls
Me: Gave him...(now i gotta say here that pls....put your best foot 1st, your statement must start good...I had to print 8months cos my I wanted to start where my brother had a huge balance, although closing balance was good too, but guess what?the dude only checked the 1st page.

VO: Waited for a while...he then said, I will approve your visa now, pls pick it up @ so so
Me: By this time...my ears don block. I just collected the famous green ticket and a piece of paper, and moved out.

Thanks to God and y'all...best of luck to all Fall applicants.
Congratulation to you. I celebrate your success. This fall F1 visa testimony would be sweet.

There is a check box on the confirmation page, that is labelled sth abt rollover(I.e if peradventure there becomes an available date, the system shld automatically put you on dat spot). So I did check dis box before submitting my application. I fink the emergency booking is on now, that was suppose to be my second alternative if this fails to work out.

So if you need earlier date u cld try d emergency button @ d left of ur visa application page, but I fink, nt too certain, that u ve 2 cancel ur previous appointment. Not dat certain sha.

wealthpos: @deevick246....You,re just Ignorant, and you are someone who jump into conclusion without proper investigation...Everyone knows sevis fee cannot be paid in Nigeria,But not everybody has a sure link to do somethings that people thought is impossible. And again,if you give me money to do such thing for you here,Is that not in Nigeria?...So you fail to think deeply before you reply to my post?......So my people,Avoid the stress of going down to cotonou for payment,It,s right here at your doorstep...Cheers!
You better stop this pay your sevis fee here in Nigeria mouthing. This your sure link can't it be mentioned? So, if I give you money here in Nigeria for sevis fee and you travel to cotonou or you get someone to help pay the fee in the US, does it then mean that the sevis fee was paid here in Nigeria? So, to you the place where money was collected and where the payment was made are now the same? You better stop this your misleading assertion.

Well I think everyone on this thread should have known by now that sevis fee cannot be paid in Nigeria, at least at this point in time. Anybody who has got any unknown method besides the two known means (stated above) should please be confident enough to state it here.

Wealthpos please note, this would be my last reaction to you on this issue. I think I have made my point clear enough on this issue.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by deevick246(m):
GboyegaD: You sound rather too harsh and unnecessary judgmental. Why not ask perhaps he has a link in the US through which he makes the payment? I think in times like this, it is better you clarify how he goes about the process while also warning people on the need to thread on the path of caution while doing such transaction.
@ Mr GboyegaD,

I am in no way been judgemental as you pointed above. I only reacted to the post which claimed that sevis fee can be paid here in Nigeria. If he had state it clearly pay your sevis fee with a US processing assistance that would have sound more like what you pre-empted and not saying people should contact him with the mindset of having their sevis fee paid here in Nigeria.

Even if the sevis fee is to be paid in the US would it require 5 Days before it would be available? I remembered when I went to pay mine at Contonou, I got the western union tracking number on same day and I was advised to check the sevis fee confirmation online after 3 working days.

As I said above I am not been too fast in judgement. The thing is, this is an online conversation site and a lot can quickly be misinterpreted if not well stated clearly from on set. We are all here to provide assistance in getting the F1 visa and not complicate issues.

wealthpos: @deevick246....I,m a Nigerian like you..And that is what I do...just contact me if you want to pay your sevis fee,or you have anyone who wants to pay....No more hassle...Just five days and you will print out your confirmation online....Cheers!
You better sharap that your mouth. How would you be misleading people here that they should pay their sevis fee here in Nigeria. Sevis fee can not be paid here in Nigeria at least at the moment. It can only be paid in Contonu or via assistance from someone in the US.

Be warned and desist from any unscrupulous intention.

bypassit: @imperiouxx,
I was @ d us embassy on june first and got there in time actually because the interview was scheduled for 9am.
The interview went well and I answered all questions correctly and my dad's bank statement and mine was showed to the lady on the 2nd counter,Then she started typing and asked me to pick up my visa at vsf office at lekki on wednesday and I told her thank you and left happily until yesterday midnight,I got a text and email from vsf office and us embassy to pick jp my documents today.
I was shocked and quickly went there this morning to pick up the visa and passport but on gettin there,I held my passport and didn't see any sign of visa granted but I took the letter in the envelope and read my visa is been denied due to some reasons.I was shocked and it actually spoilt my mood because I already bought my airline ticket yesterday hoping to travel tomorrow as the school already resumed on monday. Please has anyone experiened this before or if there is something I have to do to make this right because I am seriously dissapointed.
This case you just narrated is very strange. Was any of the documents you presented during your interview withheld from you after the interview? Because I feel before a visa can be refused or revoked, the consular must have sensed or seem falsification or misrepresentation of documents.

I seriously feel sorry for you, considering the fact that you said you purchased a travel tiscket already. However, I would advice you write to the embassy either via email or letter to ask why your visa issuance was refused. If for nothing at least to know why your F1 visa was denied which appeared successful initially after your interview, and so that when you apply again and being asked why were you refused the other time? So you have something to say.

Please which of the embassy did you go to?

You did not tell us who you are. Are you applying for a student visa? If yes, are you going for masters or undergraduate studies?

Now to your question, if you are applying for a student visa, you don't have any business working in the united states. Even though you and I know that at a point we would seek for job employment. But when asked by the VO just say no you have no intention seeking employment job overthere. You are going for your studies and when you are done you will remove back to Nigeria to get a better Job.

Let others also shield light on this question.

Let me clear some facts for you. The admission policies and fees of each university differs from another. Some do require deposit fee towards tuition before i-20 will be issued while others don't at all except the application fee payment. You need to ask the person this questions or better still let him tell you the name of the university so you can do your enquiry. Best of Luck.

I was refused a visa on the 24th of may, and I was informed by my friend that my next appointment will be August 10th, cos I was denied the visa, and he said that's the date they have available at the embassy, and my school resumes on the 22nd of August, please is there any other way for me to get an appointment at the Embassy before the month of August, I will be happy to get a date in June or July, so house what do I do? I need an appointment before August, because my school resumes on the 22nd of August, and I don't want to complicate issues during my next interview with the visa officer, as the appointment date which is August 10th, might be a problem cause my school resumes on the 22nd of August, so please house advise, is it possible for me to get an appointment before August? and how do i get the appointment if it possible? God bless you all.
Hey Master or miss Cliffypaff,

what the hell is wrong with the August 10th date?. If your school resumes on the 22nd of August, so why bother yourself about the 10th of August available date? You have better jump at it and start preparing for the visa interview. If you think you will get June or July date, you are just wasting your time.

My advice to you is that you correct the flop in your previous refusal, because a sure question for you would be, "why were you refused the other time you applied"? Best of luck.

When I saw the post here yesterday I quickly check and saw no available dates for July in Abuja nor Lagos. I even still checked this morning and only saw August and Sept. in Lagos and Abuja respectively.
I believe early dates would still open but people should just not be spreading misguided information here.

Please who has sheduled appointment recently? What are d avialable dates in Lagos & Abuja as at yesterday or today?
My skol is resuming by mid august and i need at least a July date,i will get my i-20 today...PLEASE what options do u suggest for me ,help a brother
I think you should take one step at a time. Why not receive your i-20 first and check to confirm whether all your informations are entered correctly, eg your names, date of birth, year of study etc. Then you move towards making the sevis fee payment and visa fee before you start bothering yourself about available dates. Even if there are dates for july at the moment, you won't still be able to seize the date because all that needs to be sorted are not yet. All the dates I have been seeing in Lagos starts from August and in Abuja is Sept. If you are ready and there is/are no early dates that would suit you
, then emergency route is the next avaible option.

Note: if you need assistance in helping you go pay for your sevis fee don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

The documents will be weighed and thereby the cost will be determined. However, the average cost should not be more than #1,000. Please don't use a remote post office. I would suggest you use a post office that handles postages well. I mean a busy one. So that the postage can be treated as fast as possible.

The answer to the question why you choose the university can be derived from the information about the university. You can get to see this on the School's website or admission materials sent to you. While that of the reason you opt to study in the United States is so enormous....like better standard of education, practical knowledge, a worldwide recognition of a US certificate, the use of modern technology in teaching etc.

My candid advice to you is that you read the old version of this thread carefully. Seriously a lot of these questions and more interview issues were trashed big time.

You can use Nipost Registered postage. Its cheap and reliable. I assisted someone in doing a postage to the US on the 16th of may,2012 and it was delivered on the 22nd. As a matter of fast Nipost has really improved in there services, as a result of the competition from other courier service providers. You can even track the shipment of the parcel on their website. Visa officer: I have not heard of that school before, how did you get to know about the school?

Visa officer:: how many schools did you apply to?
me: two schools sir
Visa officer: why this schools cause I don't know this schools
me: they are the best for my program
Visa officer: you attended Lagos state polytechnic?
me: yes sir
Visa officer: have you traveled before?

I can't send my original WAEC certificate to schools in Us because it's the only certificate I have I can't risk that. Pls how can I notarize my documents? How much does dis go for?
Thanks. Hope to hear from u guys soon.
I am surprised that your university is asking for the original of your Waec result. What I am aware most schools in the US do is to demand for Waec scratch card so they can check the genuineness of your result. Maybe you should suggest that to the admission officer of your proposed university.

Another alternative is for you to visit Waec office at Yaba or Ogba here in Lagos, that is if you reside in lagos. I guess they should be able to tell you how to go about getting original duplicate copy of your Waec result. I think they do this for some people who needs to have their original duplicate result sent abroad. Its just that it may be costly than the scratch card method. Best of Luck.

It may be difficult if not impossible to get someone to sponsor you here. You should look for philanthropist or NGO's who will believe in your dream and would be interested to help you realise your dream. This tread was created to discuss the tips on how to get the US Student Visa and not for the scouting of sponsors.

On the other hand, you have to be responsible and committed to your dream of going to the US to study. To get scholarship you would need to take the SAT 1&2 and TOEFL examinations since you should be going for undergraduate studies. You would need to pass very well. I see you claimed to be a distinction student above, so you would need to get a very high scores in these tests. If you do, then you can be awarded full or half scholarship by universities in the US. This is another way to realise your dream than looking for a sponsor which you may not even get. Best of Luck.

seedord247: I can smell some denial.(sorry to say that)

Your 2 years in Poly is equivalent to 2 years in communiy college. The VO will ask you the reason why you are going for another 2 year in community college instead of transferring to university and complete your BSc. You need to have good reason for doing that and if you don't. hmmmmmm super story grin grin
@ seedord247
You have spoken well.

@ Jamui4real
As seedord247 has rightly said, you should apply directly for university admissions with your OND or Diploma you claimed you have. Your age is even higher than admissions into community college. However, you can get into the United States via a university admission and go to the community College if you are offered a place, when u get into the States.

If I may ask what's your Gpa in the Diploma and which school is it?
