What good has the DG done that u are here supporting him ask anyone who have done the Nysc before, most especially in recent times and u will be shocked at such discouraging comments u will hear. Its as bad as some people losting their lives in the process and the heavy knowledge acquired at the higher institution is wasted. How much are these corp members being paid its the officials that get all the monetary benefits.Even the on going election pay to the corp members is not being ascertained and some died as a result of wanting to participate in the election exercise and the Nysc DG is claiming no serving corp members lives were lost. |

The DG last long lost touch with the Nysc matters.l heard he said it on NTA that no serving Nysc member life was lost, while the news of several serving corps members death in the Sulaja bomb blast was heard everywhere. Its a very risky but commendable venture the current corp members are engaged in.The amount to be paid to the corp members for engaging in this risky election job is not even ascertained yet. l just tire for this yeye Nysc DG. |

trutuk: Please i need help, i applied to an American university for my MSD with HND certificate but my application was denied. Is there any means of furthering my education in any American university with my HND cert?. Also can i apply for an undergraduate degree and transfer my HND works so i don't have to start my degree from 100L. Your contribution will be highly appreciated. Please no one should tell me about his educational center where they want money to help secure admission abroad. Yes u can apply with your HND certificate to further your studies in a university in the united states. But l need to ask u the following questions? 1. Whats the MSD you applied for before? 2. What did you studied in your HND studies, which institution and in what did you graduated? I am too sure u can get admission with ur HND certificate, but first u need to have ur GPA converted to a united states GPA.what l mean is,your transcripts need to be evaluated,so that ur GPA grade can be converted to a united states Bsc grade. |

l wonder why people wont just stop hating GEJ and SAMBO 2011 presidential Ticket. Now its about D'Banj interviewing him.As much as we all know D'banj is a youth and he represent a percentage, and l doubt if not a majority of the Nigerian youths. What we need to clamour for is more of such debates/interviews and not whether d'banj is the right person to interview the president or not. For me,l dont see any other presidential candidate that is better than GEJ/SAMBO Ticket.l'm not talking about political party here but l'm refering to individual personality.l know with them peace will be maintained in our country.l see alot of troubles coming in or to be caused by other desperate presidential candidates, who lacked the experience in leading a country as dynamic as ours. GEJ&SAMBO 2011 Ticket is the moving towards a better Nigeria. |

spikedcylinder: Ah! Some of these comments are doing my head in! Yes, the man's lyrical contents are weak maybe in terms of philosophical depth or whatever standards some of you use in judging lyrics but gosh darn it, he sings about things he sees, things he feels affect him. Take for instance his 'mobolowo won'. That, to me is one of his best songs till date and yet you still find people chastising him for lack of lyrical content. Everybody cannot be an Asa or a Hans Zimmer which is what makes music so entertaining and diverse. And you've got to hand it to D'banj - he entertains! His songs make you mooooove, except of course, you're a rigid SOB. If we had people churning out the same type and genre of music day in, day out, we'd all be bored to oblivion. I mean, give the man some darn credit he deserves. He has come a looong way since Tongolo and like it or not, his music, however crappy y'all think it is, usually dominates the air waves. In the end, he's only D'banj, not the Almighty God. My guy, dont mind all those haters. The video is lovely, its the way forward for nigerian entertainment industry,to feature Snoop Dogg shei na bean ni To all u haters make una go sing and release una own video and feature JayZ make we see. |

naggy: I just got the green ticket!!!!!!!!!!! Before I post my experience I want to hint on something. Today has proved to me that it is not by the number of documents you have, neither is it by your composition but it is only the grace of GOD that can see someone through. The very few members here knows the issue I had which was even the reason I missed my appointment on two good occasions but despite that I was able to make it through by God's grace and the most astonishing aspect of it was that, the interview was hassle free and that problem that gave me much thinking never ever came to light. I was very confident before I got in there but once I was in, I was gripped with uttermost anxiety despite the praise song I was singing in my mind. I was obviously fidgeting that even the consular noticed it and had to tell me to "calm down and take a deep breath." I am a very good speaker but instantly I became a stammerer and was practically talking nonsense but yet it never counted against me. That aside when I got in there, the Chinese lady just denied one Masters guy on the grounds that he didnt convince her he was going to return. Just as she finished with the guy and it was my turn, she went in to take a break and there comes in this middle aged man, Here goes my experience:
VO: Next applicant come to Window 9 Me: (with a big smile) Goodafternoon Sir. VO: Your documents please! VO: I see your going to study in the US right? Me: Yes Sir. VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: 3 VO: Name them ME: Princeton, UCLA and my school VO: Where you accepted in Princeton? VO: No VO: (laughs) I knew! VO: Why do you choose NY instead of California? ME: (I started blabbing nonsense, oh men come check me out stammering and suddenly I stopped talking) VO: (looks at me again) What course do you wanna study? ME: Law VO: (in a low tone) You wanna study Law and your not bold enough to speak to me, look at you! How would you be able to handle all those matters that comes with it! Okay now just calm down and take a deep breath. ME: Okay I am sorry Sir, not that I am not bold, it is just that this is my first time to go through this so it's getting me really tense. VO: (laughs) Well, I actually studied the same course as you so I have alot of knowledge in that field. So where do you wanna work after your studies? ME: EFCC VO: (laughs very hard) After all the time spent in the US you wanna come back to work there. Don't you think they the EFFC are corrupt? ME: (laughing) Yeah Sir that's true but am going to make the wrongs right. VO: Thats good so when did you graduate from school? ME: 2007 VO: And what have you been doing since then? ME: (imagine the spontaneous idea that came out of my head from no where) I have been tutoring and worked with alot of charity homes. ME: Let me have your transcripts, WAEC result and SAT score if you have any let me evaluate the type of student you are. ME: (gave him) VO: (looking at my credentials) Oh wow you studied French? That's nice, so have you any relations in the US? ME: Not at all Sir. VO: Who is your sponsor? ME: My mother VO: Okay good, how old are you? ME: XX years. VO: Okay I'm gonna issue you this visa. Take this green ticket and go pick it up by Monday. I see your school resumes on that same day so go today and mail your advisor informing him/her you just got your visa today and that he/she should give you a letter that will assist you enter the country on a later date cos I doubt you will be able to make it on the day. Don't forget your I-20 and enjoy your stay in NYC.
So my NL brothers that was it oh, nothing more nothing less. There was virtually NO documents required except from the WAEC and transcript. I am very grateful to God because it's of HIS own making. I also owe the greatest appreciation to Kwizzy212 and thank you nwaoma009 for your words of support and encouragement. God bless you all and best of success and luck to all those going after me!

I'm so sorry about your denial. At the same time, it annoys me when I realize that someone is denied due to his own carelessness. I have often said it here that if you have a Bachelors degree before, its good to apply for a graduate school. If you have Bsc here, and you want to go for another Bsc, you will need to work hard to convince the consular about why you need another Bsc when you already have one. Why don't you just try to avoid that by applying to graduate school? That shows you want to improve upon what you have already. It shows you are making progress. It's so annoying for you to hide your strength, and disclose your weakness to the VO. I mean, why hide your Bsc and tell him you have certification in computer desktop publishing. Is it not the same desktop diploma that many Nigerian employers will not even consider. I read of a boy of less than 10 years old, who passed the MCSE exams in the U.S And you think you can woo the VO with one yeye desktop diploma? Please don't mind me. Seriously, I dey vex!!!
I will state it again. If you already have a Bsc, try to apply to a graduate school. If you can back it up, you may lie that you have been working in a job that is related to the Bsc. Honestly, they don't give a damn about how little your salary is even if its not more than 10k. They know Nigerian many Nigerian companies pay peanut. Or how do you think they know that many of us feed on less than a dollar a day? Your salary might only matter if you are going on Business or visiting. As a student, you don't even need to be working in a big company. The fact that you have been doing something that is related to your Bsc is ok. Applying for a masters degree if you already have a Bsc is much better than applying as a transfer or undergraduate.
I remember warning one guy about the same thing. His case was very similar to yours. I advised him to apply to a graduate school. He went and was denied. He came back, and said he would go to the embassy again. He went to the embassy again, but didn't come back to share his testimony. I am convinced he was denied again, and that was why he didn't show up again. If he is reading what I am typing now, he will know himself.
If my own country (Nigeria) will not allow me go for Masters with HND; yet a great school in US admitted me for Masters (with HND), and I got my visa on my first appearance, on a virgin passport (of less than 6 months old), at the dreaded Lagos Consulate, interviewed by the dreaded Indian-American guy, even without my admission letter, but with only my I-20 with me. How much much more of you, who have a Bsc and others strengths which I didn't even have.
Honestly, I am really sorry for the denial, but I dey vex with you the same time. Brother man,l dey feel your annoyance seriously.but l must commend this master piece comment u have just posted here. |
