Could you please advice me base on the course i wanted to take , am attending for community college and am intending to take automotive technician course , please let me know my chance of getting the visa, can i proceed further because have read several comment about the community college on this thread that the consular dont give visa for associate degree, is that really true ? please let me know ..thank.

Supzyy: Good day to the gurus in the house. I just received my form i-20. Everythin checks well except a mistake in my date of birth. My dob is 3rd april, 198x, written as 03-04-198x. This is what is on my passport. on the form i-20, what is written is 03-04-198x, but the american format of writing puts the month before the day, so that it would be interpreted as march 4th 198x. What do you think i should do? I am to report at the school latest aug 20, would it be too late to request for a fresh i-20 from them? Or should i go ahead and book with this one? Urgent answers please.

genxris: @sunboy,i am in just same situation as yours..i started my preparation last year yet i am just suprised "time still caught me" my orientation starts 23 August, do u tink i can still make it cos of avialable dates at d embasies?

sunboy: I just got my i20. I'm cautious of paying sevis and booking appointment because the school resumes August. All thanks to waec and post office dat just delivered my documents after 3months+
Is it advisable to proceed? Considering appoint dates available at this period or defer my admission to the next resumption period?
Or can I still pay sevis now and also use it if I defer the admission?

jimtosam: You do not need to get the I-20 form in physical before you book appointment.

DS160 is a form that you fill online. When you finish, a confirmation number will be generated for you. While filling your appointment schedule form, the confirmation number will be required. So, the first thing you need to do, is to fill the DS 160 form.Just google DS160 form. While filling DS160, your SEVIS number will be asked. You will be interviewed base on the information you filled in DS160. So, carefully fill it. If you make any mistake, you can refill this form as many times as possible. A new confirmation number will always be generated.

Act fast now cos I do not know when you are resuming. July & August date are gone for Abuja. .Even Sept is almost gone.Last time I checked, Appointments are only available from September 20th. You know why, politicians dey go summer o. Lagos still get July 20th to August.

My uncle in the states helping me out with my admission process informd me that my i-20form is likely to be ready by next week and i can go ahead to go schedule my interview date.. House i don't know what next step to take, what else am i expected to do now in trying to schedule 4d interview? PLEASE REPLY ME FAST

I've been following this thread for a few months, read from the first thread down to this one, and I must say you guyz are really doing a great job...it has been of much help to me, to build my confidence, and preparations for my visa interview. I was interviewed at the Abuja Consulate today and I'm glad to announce that I WAS GRANTED A VISA for undergraduate. Please help me thank God...I'm so overwhelmed by this right now and I will post interview details as after I pick up my passport with the visa on wednesday. The key to success is mostly your confidence, try to connect with the VO, be sure of what you're saying and have proper documentation to back it up...

Please I have to ask those that have gotten their VISA's, whats the next step after getting a visa...what do I have to do?

Supzyy: respect to all the gurus in d house. please i would like to know if there is a difference between a letter of acceptance and an admission letter/ form i-20., cos i was just informed by mail that my letter of acceptance wld be sent next week, and i'm wondering if this is the same as the form i-20.

princesyeed: I nid someone to assist m on how transcript looks like. I went to my high school but unfortunately they told me they are unable to retrieve the records again is been long time(2002) I graduate from the high sch.

Hello house, I went for my visa interview at abuja and was denied with no tangible reason but i think its because of the community college i applied to, My other guy who was going to wayne county community college was denied as well, My interview goes thus:

VO: Can i have ur docS?
Me: Passed it to him
Vo: Why do you want to go to the us
Me: I want to go to the usa to study
Vo: Why the US
Me: because UsA has one of the best educational systems in the world
VO: Why did usa have one of the best educational system in the world
Me: Educational analyst made us understand that and also USA have colleges and Universities which have standard educational programs compared to nigeria
VO: Why do you have 30 months on your I20 instead of 24months?
Me: Well the school gave me that, I think i will be doing a 6 months OPT
VO: how many units are you offering
Me: 18 unites per semester
VO: well im sorry you do not qualify for student visa.

Your major reasons for your denial are:
4 wks prog/ is it a professional course or something? - how na? Means u wanna scale
You mentioning not a permanent job - u miss it out here

@speartaker the reason for your denial is very OBVIOUS. If I were the consular I would deny you right away without even bothering to go any further in the interview. I'm sorry I just have to be honest. How do you wanna come to the US just to study for a course of 8 weeks?? You might as well have applied for a tourist visa. Jesus!!! That portrays you as someone who's very desperate to leave the country under the premise of a student visa. There's no better explanation for your rejection than this.

i just figured out that in d ds-160,person paying 4 trip is sponsor;but d problem is that i entered my mum as person paying 4 trip,cos i thought they meant "person paying 4 flight",but my sponsor is uncle.

If asked,"who is sponsoring u",I'm planning on saying,"my uncle is my sponsor,while my mum is paying 4 trip",then if asked,i'll say "i thought paying 4 trip meant paying 4 flight" to avoid discrepency,cos if i say uncle alone n d VO sees d discrepency,it might lead to denial. Urgent reply is needed plsss! My interview commences in less than 45 mins
