jamiu4real: Hello House ,There is no where on this thread where it was stated that VO don't give visa to community college applicants. But rather the gurus here usually advice those who have pass a particular age (say age 20 and above) to apply directly to university or those who have acquired foundational qualifications like OND or so not do so. You need to tell us more about yourself. Your age, academic qualifications and why do you choose to apply to a community college and not a university?. So that the right advice can be provided to you. |
yomi fola: Hello house,my interviw is on july and i wnt 2 ask dis 2 questnz. If you don't know the reason(s) you choose to study in the united states and not Nigeria and the reason why you choose Bus. Admin as a course of study, then i doubt if you have a genuine intention of schooling in the united states when you get there eventually. My advice to you is you should find answers to this your questions yourself, by so doing you will have enough boldness and confident to answer the V0 when asked during your interview. |
Supzyy: Good day to the gurus in the house. I just received my form i-20. Everythin checks well except a mistake in my date of birth. My dob is 3rd april, 198x, written as 03-04-198x. This is what is on my passport. on the form i-20, what is written is 03-04-198x, but the american format of writing puts the month before the day, so that it would be interpreted as march 4th 198x. What do you think i should do? I am to report at the school latest aug 20, would it be too late to request for a fresh i-20 from them? Or should i go ahead and book with this one? Urgent answers please. Please go ahead and book for your interview. The mistake is arguable and as a matter of fact I don't see it causing any harm. What matters the most is if the DOB on your passport correspond with what is on your other credentials e.g Waec, Birth Certificate, etc. On the other hand if you feel you can get the school to send you another i-20 with the DOB corrected to the american format on time. It would be a good idea. But If not, don't bother your head as the mistake is arguable. Since the DOB on your passport (Nigeria date format) is literary also what appeared on your i-20 form (Nigeria date format instead of America date format). My advice is waste no further time, go ahead to pay your sevis fee and visa fee, so you can be able to book for appointment. |
genxris: @sunboy,i am in just same situation as yours..i started my preparation last year yet i am just suprised "time still caught me" my orientation starts 23 August, do u tink i can still make it cos of avialable dates at d embasies?Have you gotten your i-20 form yet? If you have, you can still meet up. August 23rd is still far away. There is always available dates for interview ,it just that it opens and closes unawear to people who needs them. My advice is if you live in Lagos, its better you look for available dates in lagos. On sevis fee payment if you need assistance in paying contact me asper. |
sunboy: I just got my i20. I'm cautious of paying sevis and booking appointment because the school resumes August. All thanks to waec and post office dat just delivered my documents after 3months+Why do you want to further delay yourself after been already delayed by Waec and Post office like you said above? My advice is if you have the financial capability proceed to pay your sevis fee and pay your visa fee and go ahead to book a date for appointment. The month of August you mentioned is still far, mind you we are still in the month of May and you have june and july then August. Delay no further. I can assist in paying sevis fee for you if you don't know how to go about it. |
jimtosam: You do not need to get the I-20 form in physical before you book appointment.@ Jimtosam, well said. @ genxris, I have a word of advice for you. It is better you receive the i-20 documents by hand before you proceed with the sevis fees payment except you are very sure of the correctness of the one your brother/uncle is supplying you, because any mistake on such an important document can be very frustrating. And on the sevis fee payment, I will suggest you ask that your uncle/brother in the US to assist you in the payment, except you can be brave enough to go the contonou way. In payment the sevis fees you only need a copy of your passport page, your sevis number, your school code and some of your other informations. Best of Luck to you. |
yankison: VISA fee is 23,100 nairaWhen did you check that last? I am telling you of the current visa fee. Its now #26,400. |
genxris: HELP ME OUT,You need to first receive your admission packet from the university which will include your i-20 document. On the I-20 form you will get to see your student sevis fees number and your school code which you will use in paying the sevis fee of $200. Afterwards you go ahead to pay the visa application fee of #26,400 at Gtbank. Thereafter you will be able to book for your student visa interview/appointment. |
yankison: House , is there anyhow I can have my school send -_20 without paying amount due . Was awarded scholaship but they want me to pay 8k to send i-20 . Anyone ever bee tru thisThe university want you to send $8,000 before they issue your i-20 document to you? This is weird, bearing in mind that you once sound as if you have everything sorted out and you already booked for june or july for your visa interview.... Please correct me if I am mistaking you for someone else. |
For those contemplating heading to BENIN for their servis fees tomorrow (17th May,2012) should not step an inch, as there is said to be a public holiday for the reason best known to them. I was able to pay my servis fee today at BENIN (Contonou). It was a successful outing as I beat all the securities and customs checkpoints. I must quickly say here that it wasn't by my power but I believe it was just God at work. Though I devised a technique that I use for the trip. For those interested in the technique I would not mind sharing it but not here. |
Manliness: Hello House,Congratulation to you. We await the full gist of your interview experience. |
SportATM: Gunner 4Life |
SportATM: Gunner 4LifeYou people can not be trusted. I deposited an amount into your Gtbank Account on 2nd of May, 2012, expecting my SportATM account to be credited, up still this very moment my account has not been credited. I have called your contact line 08026783414 several times its always switched off and the few times I was able to get through, the person I spoke to promised to resolve the issue with your account department and nothing has been done up still this very moment. I await your response. |
Supzyy: respect to all the gurus in d house. please i would like to know if there is a difference between a letter of acceptance and an admission letter/ form i-20., cos i was just informed by mail that my letter of acceptance wld be sent next week, and i'm wondering if this is the same as the form i-20.Congratulation on your admission. The acceptance packet that the University is sending will only include your I-20 form, which you will use for your visa interview. |

princesyeed: I nid someone to assist m on how transcript looks like. I went to my high school but unfortunately they told me they are unable to retrieve the records again is been long time(2002) I graduate from the high sch. What do you need High school transcript for? If you are seeking admission into Univ as an undergraduate, what you need is your O'Level and if you have attended a Univ and you want to transfer or you want to do masters then you need your Academic Transcripts. And besides, nobody would offer you their transcripts for you to see how it looks like. Transcripts are basically a personal confidential document. I hope this piece of information helps you out. |
davidylan:Davidylan, You are doing a great job here bros. Can we chat on YIM?. I guess we have already added eachother on YIM. |
dannywest01:How many times has it been said here, that using a community college for visa interview is a red flag? Some people nor dey hear word. ![]() |
gongo aso:Chairman, where have you been? People like you shouldn't be far from this thread naaaa. Haba!!! At least you should be showing your presence here once in a while. |
@ Davidylan, I must really commend you for the great work you are doing here. I can say with confident that you are well grounded in matters regarding studentship and other related aspect in yankee. I would like to ask you this few questions: what state in the US did u study and what state do u reside? |
imperiouxx:Guy, report urself for YIM jare. U didn't get back at me as u did promise. Check me out now joo. |
@ Imperiouxx Would you please get on YIM? |
@ Davidylan, Your posts here are very insightful, as they are eye opener to many of the questions running through the heart of a lot of Prospective students. I can only but advice or plead with others to follow suit. @ Uberino, Nice initiative you demonstrated by creating this new thread. I hope it serve its purpose though. |
Akwasi:U haven't yet gotten in touch with me. I am online right now via YIM. Please let's chat to clarity some challenges about this whole thing. Thanks. |
Akwasi:@ Akwasi, You appear to have a good heart by unveiling this opportunity to everyone without a charge. I would like to get involved in the articles writing. My email addy is same as my Nairaland id. Please drop me your yahoo messenger id or BB pin, so I can get some information sorted out from you. Thanks in advance. |
Can this be real Please I hope I am dreaming. If it is real and that I am not dreaming, I can't but weep for this country. WWWHHHAAAATTT? |
Sodah:I smell a dead rat around and inside this piece of notification. Did u play any Diversity Visa lottery at all and if you did when? Payment of fees for what? A lot of questions come to mind as regarding the authenticity and genuinety of the letter\email. Be wise. I would also wanna say that this particular thread of the United States Visa is dedicated strictly to Student Visa related matters. |
pointalert: naggy:@ Naggy You just hammered the point finish. @speartaker How can you apply for a programme of 8 weeks? When people were advised here not to even apply to a College of two years duration. I doubt if you even mentioned here that the duration of your studies is 2 months/ 8 weeks, I am sure you would have been guided accordingly. I think what you should do now, is to look for schools that offer your interested major and apply for a university degree programme. By the way are going for Undergraduate or Masters studies? Best of Luck next time. |
cleverdude:It feels sad to read about your refusal. In your interview it is obvious that its the issue of sponsorship that didn't work well for you. The V0 became suspicious of you because you changed Sponsor. Even the part that your Uncle is paying for your programme and your mom is paying for your flight doesn't sound logical, but as at the time you came here to ask question on that, it was few minutes to your interview, so I didn't had any choice than to encourage to go for your interview and say it that way when asked. Point to note: How come did the VO tell you to go and continue with your studies here in Nigeria? Are you a fresh undergraduate or transfer student? |
cleverdude:Just try as much as possible to be smart and bold in your explanation of the above you just stated. If your uncle is the Programme sponsor, just say that when u are asked who is sponsoring the programme and that your mom is paying the one paying for the trip since that's what u have filled already in the form DS-160. This answer really appears long but try and be smart, bold and short in ur answer. Maintain eye contact with the V0. Never say what u didn't filled in ur documents. Best of Luck. |

Please I hope I am dreaming. If it is real and that I am not dreaming, I can't but weep for this country. WWWHHHAAAATTT?
