leadzeal: @deevick,Thanks man. I sincerely appreciate you. |
AnythinCanHapen: Oga,i think you were just unfortunate. The guy no want give u.He denied you based on ties and not the GRE only. After telling him you have not traveled out and not married, your chances were very low.Answering another No to the GRE was like pouring petrol to the fire.Alright, thanks for your comment. |
@ imprexousxxx I need the GRE materials also, please send it to my email. I know you have it because you have once sent me TOEFL materials before. Thanks. Modified. |
lanrypaddy: Sorry Fø̲̣̣я̅ that bro...yeah D̶̲̥̅̊âŧ'š d spirit, its not over yet...so are You planning 2 reapply and hope time Ȋ̝̊̅§ still by Ʊя̲̅ side?I will reapply after I have a GRE score. Lol. Once beating, twice shy. The V0 was impressed, I can say this confidently becos he was busy typing mostly as I was vomiting my memory verses. It was worth the try. I Thank God. |
I was refused today by the V0 at counter 6 (Lagos). This is how it went down: I was not praying for the VO because he was spending a lot of time with applicants and he rejected a lot of applicants. VO: the sighed me as I was walking across to him. Good morning, pass me your documents pls. ME: good morning sir, here they are VO: ok can you bring up your case... ME: I was like na which one be bring up your case again. I asked him to repeat himself and he said it again. So I got it that he want me to tell him what I am here for. Na so I start by saying, I am going to study Masters in Public Administration at ..... University, then defined Public Administration as a disciplined which broadly deals with good governance, human relations and the society at large and also focuses on the implementation of government policies, programmes and activities for the betterment of the citizens. I choose to study masters in PA because I have a keen interest in good governance in Nigeria. V0: ok, why this school? ME: because the university offers excellence career preparation in public administration which a real world learning experience. VO: Have u travel out of Nigeria before? ME: no, there has not been a need to. VO: ok, are u married? ME: No. VO: where do u work? ME: I told him. VO: who is paying for your fees. ME: my dad. VO: what does not dad do? ME: he is a building contractor and a estate developer. VO: did you write the GRE? ME: No, the university does not require it for admission into this programme. VO: I'm sorry I can not issue you the visa at this time....bla bla Lesson: I know surely that I was refused on the grounds of GRE. Its painful tho, because the V0 was just looking at me and typing seriously and me maintained eye contacts all through. Advice: please everyone going as a graduate student should endeavour to write either the GRE or GMAT, even if your school does not require it for admission purpose, like mine did not and plus that I had a $2000 partial scholarship, so I was thinking the GRE won't be an issue since its not part of the admission requirements. At this point, I want to congratulate everyone who got their visas and those yet to go for their interview, I beg make una no dey entertain unnecessary fear, that interview is not as difficult as it has been projected. Its basically a conversation between 2 people ( you and the VO). Be yourself. I sincerely appreciate king1_00, Freeman_lxy, leadzeal, djunit, walex57, samuel4U and everyone on this thread. Its not over yet, until I get my visa lol |
sha_money: My visa has just been issued to me in abuja embassy by d VO in window 7. I ll post d details soon.Congratulations to you bruv. I am happy for you. |
Congratulations WARYZ. I know say u been don te for this thread ![]() |

samiel4u: Here is my experience,Congratulations to samiel4u once again. I am very happy for you. Was it the V0 at counter 4 that interviewed? |
samiel4u: housematesCongratulations to you man. |
fittty: Thanks Bruv... Are u sure with this the VO could convienced on how masters in public admin relates to Bsc Economics? I'm just scared cos I don't want any denial as this will be my first time of going to an embassy, I hope u know what I mean. I've been following this thread from part one and I ensure to log into this thread every single day to read peoples posts and I copy and save sucesses stories and failed ones just to have them on my note pad and compare. I've also noted that being bold and looking into the VO's eyes and having a sound knowledge of my intended course and Bsc course is what it takes to get the visa. I intend going to the embassy just once and come out with the green ticket for the visa.... Bruv thank so much and all dons in d house. I hope I'm doing the right thing by going in for a Masters in Public Admin and I hope the VO wouldbe conviences cos I've read from here about people being denied. Cos their intended course stands apart from their first degreeWhat you seems to be bothered about is within your power. The V0 has no right to denied any applicant on the grounds that there is no continuation or progression in the line of study. That is why there are questions like these"why study this course or what benefit does this course hold to you?" ( For a graduate of Economics like you, you can say you are interested in working for the Nigeria government, you intend to join the Central Bank or ministry of Finance, to ensure that Budgets preparation and allocation are done without any bias and to ensure that the purposes for which the budget were allocated are well executed.....bla bla, this is just a hint)The onus lies on the applicant to educate the VO on why he or she has choose to follow this new study path and I tell you, this is where most people in this kind of scenario who didn't get their visas missed it. You need to be well armed as to why you are changing your study line in this particular time in your life. If you study the thread well, you will notice that recent interviews only requires portraying genuine study intention to the VO and not documents presentations as we have thought or has it has been before. The reason is simple, the VOs only want to accord genuine students the opportunity to actualise their dreams of going to the US to study. Best of Luck man. |
fittty: Guys pls advice me on this. I've asked previously but I need to make a final decision on it.... I have a Bsc in Economics and I want to go in for a Masters in Public Administration for Spring 2013. But I'm thinking during my interview, the VO might just say both courses aren't related. Guys should I continue with d application for Masters in Public Admin or I should just go for a different course related to Economics. Pls dons in d house advise me on this.. I dey beg unaThe last time we exchange messages on this thread, you agreed to do research on how to marry Economics as a field of study with Public Administration. I can't really ascertain how far you have gone with that. Like I told you the last time, PA is a very lucrative profession, the likes of Ban Ki- moon, the former UN secretary General and the present president of Liberia, Ellen Johnson are graduates of PA. PA has five core branches and they are: 1. Policy Analysis, 2. Public Budgeting, 3. Ethics, 4. Operational Theory,5. and Human Resource. Link is: therealbradleybyrne.com/2012/03/09/masters-in-public-administration-the-five-core-branches-of-public-administration/ You can choose one of the areas to specialise in and relate it with your Economics first degree. I think Public Budgeting should suit well with Economics. You see my friend, there is need for you to note that, PA is both a field of study and profession. It is meant for individuals who want to go into government and a non profit organisation. Though the study is multi-dimentional, which means you can also fit in into the private sector as well. The ball is in your court to decide what you wanna study, only you can take this decision. Best of luck. |
kpolli: Here is my experience, though I was shaky and can't remember much. . . It is God, to me I wasn't that good. . . My case wasn't strong but with God, it was too strong for them. . .Congratulations! All of una way benefit via me announcing the july dates way don collect visa, oya make una come celebrate am for me. ![]() |
leadzeal: Guys, I got my visa about 10:02 am today.. I will debrief u guys properly soonest. Thanks guys.Congratulation my friend. I know you were gonna get it. I am on my way to your house for the celebration. I beg go arrange wine down ooo for the celebration. |
@ Adolite, A big congratulations to you. You got your heart desire at last after been refused the F1 Visa 3 times. You are indeed a die hard individual. |
kennix73: @deevick246, I have gotten my Visa and the school's orientation and resumption dates are 29th August & 5th Sept respectively.Congratulation on the getting of your visa. What you need do now is go to your school's website and check the payment plan out. I am damn sure you can't be required to pay your tuition fees here in Nigeria, its usually required from you when resume for your studies /during the orientation week or first week of academic lectures. I hope you be able to find your way round this piece of information. If you still can't, though I doubt if you would, just ring your schools Assistant Director for international Admissions and make inquiry about the payment/registration pattern. I wish you plenty of Luck. |
kennix73: please house, when am I supposed to pay the tuition fee? Is it when I arrive USA or here in Nigeria? This depends solely on the payment/registration system of the particular University you are applying to. However, most Universities in the US don't require tuition fee payments before issuance of the admission documents (i20), only a few require a stipend, say between $100 to $200 as deposit towards tuition fees. Its is your responsibility to look out for the registration/tuition fee payment regulation of the university you are applying to. Best of luck. |
Anika Shiloh: Interesting! This interview narrated above goes to affirm that ''PROTOCOLS'' and RULES can be broken when the favour of God is at work. I remembered many of us here were never in congruent to the fact that the couples can be interviewed together but see as it turned out for them? I am happy for you both jare. You have made history on this thread, you are the first couples to be interviewed for F1visa and you both got it.Really? Just as if I was there when she said that to you guys . Congratulations once again. |
Adolite: My F1 Visa was approved this morning in abuja.............I'm Happy mehn.........Adolite!!! That's good news. I remember you very well. I recollect you have been refused more than once and here you are celebrating your F1 visa success. I feel so happy for you. Oya, come narrate your ordeal at the embassy for us all to learn from it. |
jimtosam: Thank you all.Imperiouxx, GboyegaD, Phy, Successgreat, walex special thanks to you guys. God did it yesterday at Abuja by 10:45am.Congratulations!!! I beg come and finish what you started lol |
Anika Shiloh: Yay! I and hubby got our visas yesterday(10th) @ Lagos. It was God all the way through.Interesting! This interview narrated above goes to affirm that ''PROTOCOLS'' and RULES can be broken when the favour of God is at work. I remembered many of us here were never in congruent to the fact that the couples can be interviewed together but see as it turned out for them? I am happy for you both jare. You have made history on this thread, you are the first couples to be interviewed for F1visa and you both got it. On a lighter note, I guess the VO was afraid of the both of you, husband & wife and the scripture that says ''what God has joined together, let no man put asunder'' worked for your favour. I am so happy for you guys. |
sha_money: No p bro. We all share a common interest here. I ll just have to go and work on d connection between wat I did in d coy and my course. Thank you so much for the response,by His grace we ll all come back wit our success stories.I'm glad you understand. Just work on the connection between your intended major and what you have been doing. If you need further advice or clarification do not hesitate to inquire here. We are one Big family here. Best of luck bruv. |
walex57: deevick...i already know u've gotten it so just relax ok...we go share ur testimonyAmen ooo. Thanks plenty my guy walex. |
sha_money: I tink dat question should be directed to jamb and d schools I applied to. I asked a straight forward question , no need for d joke. U wrote jamb and prolly got admitted and did ur undergraduate, good,I wasn't as lucky as u are. I tink dis is now my time. Abeg help answer my question though.I wasn't joking with your inquiry at all. Why would I? I didn't get your initial post well, I thought you said you were going for a second degree programme. Sorry for the mix up. Now, on your inquiry, you said you graduated from secondary school in 2007 and you have since been helping your dad in his work/company, like dr.dolittle asked you already...hope what you have been helping doing for your has relevant with what you are going to study? If this is sorted and you tackle all the remaining likely questions, eg why the course, why the school? Bla bla. You get a lot of similar questions here. I think you should be fine. Best of Luck. |
kpolli: But u've been active on this thread for almost 2yrs so ur a donAbi ooo, I have really been around for a while now. But now is just the right time for me to go for the interview. But Yankee F1 Visa, no be by how long one has been on this thread, its basically by the Favour and Mercy of God. |
imperiouxx: Haba! deevick. Soon nau, very soon.I rely only on God's favour and Mercy. Thanks. |
imperiouxx: May I ask why don't you get the admission?@ sha_money, oya come answer this imperiouxx question....you claimed you did Jamb and passed shei be? So why didn't you get admission into the university with it? |
sha_money: Please someone should answer me, imperiouxx, dr_do little, everyone pls..Make sure its feel good and make sense to you claiming all you have sighted above. If it doesn't sound logical to you, don't feel it will to the VO. If it doesn't then work on it again. This has been said over and over here. To me why go for another undergraduate programme, when you are already a graduated? Its additional and recurring expenses of what you already had. But if you feel there is need to start again or diversify, then its just fine. Best of Luck. |
dr_dolittle: So sorry about this brov. Please brace up, get ur docs and stuff together...and when convinced that you've done your best...go get the visa.It is there waiting for you.Three guys got their visas for associates degrees on monday and were wayyy past the age..so you can do the same.Bless you.God bless you too. These people (walex and Imperiousxxx) you mentioned my name among are yankee peeps(walex just got his visa)me never do my interview yet ooo. Lol |
