I strolled into one of the lecture theatres, 500Lt Physical Science to be precise, to use my laptop with some of my friends.

Shortly did we enter the class than some group of students rushed into the class. At first, we were confused on what could be going on since that day was not supposed to be a lecture or exam day.

In a jiffy, a lecturer whom we later learnt goes by the name Dr. Charles from Department of Mathematics followed suit. He ordered that everybody should leave the class.

Due to the fact that we had our extension plugged in with other electronic gadgets, it took us some time to shut down and dismantle everything. Before we were done, the lecturer has cornered off the class and closed the door.

He demanded that anybody coming out of the class should follow a particular aisle to come and sit on the floor.

At first, I thought he was kidding, not until I saw one of my friends, a 400 level student sitting on the floor. Then I knew I had to do something drastic to send a warning message to the lecturer on time.

I and one of my friends who graduated from Uniben in 2012 decided to follow another route other than the conventional route he ordered that we should follow. While he was shouting that we should go back, we ignored him and kept moving forward.

The next thing he did was to rush to the door and blocked it with his body. He was telling me to come forward and beat him. I told him that I would rather allow him involve any authority he thinks can help him out because I would rather "die than commit suicide"

He immediately ordered one of his students to go and call the school security. Before the security man arrived, he ordered those my friends that accepted to sit on the floor to leave the class by jumping out through the window.

As soon as one of their faculty security men arrived, he took us to their faculty security office and asked us to identify ourselves and put what transpired in writing. While we were writing that, he made a call to the security office at maingate and in a twinkle of an eye, one of them arrived with a red Jetter gulf and took us to crime office.


When we explained to them what happened, they were mad to hear that a lecturer actually asked "undergraduates" to sit on the floor.

There were five of us there. One of my friends and I graduated in 2016, the other one graduated in 2010, one graduated in 2012 while the other one is in 400 level.

Note that this is a 200 level class that he wants to take.

We waited for the demi-god for 3 hours until he finished teaching and drove to the crime office with his rickety Honda 1990 model

They immediately took him inside a room in the office and asked him what happened. We overheard him saying that I wanted to come and beat him. The security men already knew those were to make a case where there's none.

Well, after 5 minutes, he came out and drove off and we were asked to go. I was feeling like Nelson Mandela afterwards abi na like my brother Kalu Nnamdi

Lesson: Undergraduates should know and defend their rights. I am sure if we'd complied with him, he might ask us to answer his question before he lets us go. Criteria to be allowed to go is that you answer his question correctly.

When people are creating new account on Fiverr, they usually over abi under estimate themselves with regards to volume of services rendered and the price.

A buyer once ordered my gig and gave me voluminous work that I would charge $40 on a normal day for $10. When I queried him for that, he said that my ads stated 8 hours for $10.

You can imagine such gig pricing. I had to quickly edit the gig before I come and kill myself.

Another of my gig was showing 30 minutes of transcription for $10. You can imagine.

All those have been fixed now.

The bitter truth is: Proofreading and editing is highly competitive on Fiverr and you can hardly make headway with only that gig as a Nigerian seller.

I stopped sending request on Upwork since none of my requests yielded invitation talk more of hiring. I have writing and editing profile there. Majority of the buyers will end up with "Native English speakers only". so how do you expect to make sales in such niche?

The truth is, aside the fact that most of us, Nigerians, use foreign account, we wouldn't be able to make anything out of Fiverr as much as we do.

Fact is: Staying online for a long time on Fiverr is a good step to getting orders.


The best bet is to try and be online as often as you can.

I have 100% response rate and 1 hour average response time. Believe you me, it matters a lot.

As for buyers request, simply lower your price and you are good to go - Not a guarantee.

He started talking about gig video. That the visitors did not find anything enticing and therefore did not click. I totally understood that. But the problem is; Hazzan Tazzan did not for one day told me i must have a gig video on my gig for his job to be effective.

He saw my gig and knew there was no video, accepted payment, did what he did and came to feed me the 'No gig video' trash.

I made it simple for him. Told him on 27/0217 to refund my money. Till today, he has not said a word.

I am calling out 'Hazzan Tazzan' to come tell the house how he took my money, rendered a premature service and shut the hell up.

Did you know that when Fiverr started, no seller charges more than $5 unless he is in level 2. That time, if you have a $15 offer to send, you would send it three times to the client. That's why it's called "Fiverr"

Now let's look at it this way. You said that you are struggling with graphic design.

Do you know that you don't need a skill as hard as graphic design to earn much on Fiverr?

Knowing simple skills like the use of Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint is enough to earn your at least $500/month

If you want to rush and earn that much, you will miss it.

Some of them have special skills but it is not a must.

Just manage and attain level two and see whether your Fiverr story will not change

Actually everyone hates or avoids order cancellation but sometimes it seems inevitable (because you cannot control or force the client to accept the order).

This February alone, I have cancelled two orders of $150 and $50 respectively.

And these orders were cancelled without request for modification at all
