Can anyone shed light on how to get Transcript for WES from OAU ife. I looked at the ETX-NG website, but it seems they only deal with Transcript request from inside Nigeria.

Any pointers or help will be appreciated.

Hi there,

I have an observation regarding the listing on your sites.

There are cars listed on your sites that has already been sold either on your site, copart or on other sites but the listing is still active on your site. Any unsuspecting buyer on your site will be forced to pay a deposit of the 10% or $400 in order to place a buy it now bid on the item on your site, only for the buyer to be notified that the item has already been sold and is no longer available, however the buyer would have already transfered money into their auctionexport account and thereby forced to spend the funds on your site if buyer cannot be bothered with withdrawing the funds again.

This sounds like entrapment to me.

I ll love for you to respond to this if you can.

For those who are interested in good oil palm hybrid tenera seed should come to NIFOR, I will assist them if contacted with price details, loading cost etc , cos I work in NIFOR.
Am not sure how high up on Nifor you are but the official processs for obtaining seedlings from nifor is cumbersome and counterproductive.

On the nifor website there are contact details there, infact I have been I talks with one of the deputy directors in charge of supplying the seedlings by the name of Dr Solomon. I was promised heaven and earth and told to write numerous letters applying for seedling to the director who most times is away in Abuja and after visiting the nifor office, I was still constantly promised and reassured that there is enough seedling to go round.

I was getting really worried by early April since there was no official confirmation that I ll get the 1200+ seedling am after and after putting pressure I was eventually told to explore other options like nifor partners selling nifor sourced seedlings at 3 times the nifor price but no surprises because these partners are nifor employees with their own side business.

Nigeria is such a scam! Nifor knows for a fact they are unable to meet the demands but still strings you along until very close to planting season when you have little options left but to patronise "their" so called partners.

And its just plain ridiculous that every application to buy seedling has to be approved by the director of nifor! Does the guy not have anything better to spend his time on rather than hold people hostage by insisting on vetting all seedling applications?

Typical Nigeria government employee, he wants in on all the action.

That's my personal experience with nifor.

Hi ,

Nice post very encouraging.

I have a few questions for you if you dont mind.

I have 25 acres of land which I have just planted tenera seedlings on in the last few weeks. Thank Goodness its starting to rain and the seedlings are getting established however so also are the weeds. I had some labourers weed 1 meter around each palm couple of weeks ago and we applied manure to the seedlings.

My main question is to do with seedling, getting reliable help is very difficult and I am looking at the options of mechanization, what do you suggest, (Note I am away from the actual location and the farm is being managed by my parents)

I am looking at buying Brush Cutters and Scythe mower just for the purpose of weeding, I know it requires an operator but anyone would be able to operate these instead of using local labourers who are very unreliable.

Scythe Mower

Brush Cutter

Do you think these would be of any help?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you are missing something.
Let's do the math

You invested N50M into a business when dollar was N500
You bought 200 units mppt controllers for $500 each
That's 200 x $500 = $100,000.00 x N500 =N50M

Today dollar is N390/$
$100,000.00 x N390 = N39M

Even though you have the same dollar amount
You just lost N11M from your investment.

I hope this proves helpful.
That is why its called business and its all about Risks.

Using your analogy , If dollar has risen to 700 naira to one dollar today, I bet you will bee the first to raise the price of the stock you purchased at 500naira to 1 dollar.

This is what risk is all about.

Hold on to your stocks and pray that dollar rises again, because I am sure as heck your potential customers check the forex rates too.

I also have business that I have invested money on at the worst naira exchange rates but you lose some and you win some.

. Well the word moderate been used here is expected to be understood by a lay man who deals with electrical appliances. But since its not cleared I will give the electrical info and power consumption details of the machine. Which is
Rated AC/ voltage ........220v
Rated Frequency..........50hz
Phase........ Single phase.
Maximum output........ 7VA
Power consumption in 24hrs........0.72kw/h.
This means for your backup generator, you need the one with an output of 7kva.
But a layman who wants to use this might not necessarily understand moderate and the is relative.

Back to your response, I am not sure that is accurate kindly explain it to me.

You said
Power consumption in 24hrs........0.72kw/h
You did not answer how much will be consumed in 24 hours but rather you said 0.72kw/h.. are you saying this consumes 720watts per hour because that is exactly what you said above?

This means this uses 17.28kw/24hr

Hi all,

Very informative thread.

I am looking at the possibility of constructing a dwarf wall with wood and possibly barb wire nothing not possibly taller than 1-1.2 metres. See similar pictures below. The farm size is 24 arces and this is mainly to prevent bush burning, encroachment and prevent cattle grazing.

If anyone has a better cost effective method of achieving this then please let me know.

Re: Whistle blowing, I am actually putting finishing touches to the details I have been collating regarding blowing the whistle on an ex-NNPC employee that I know, Good thing is, I will not pass the information to the government myself but rather through a proxy, I don't care if any incentives comes back to me because I can say the person to be whistle blown on is a family member so this is not a malicious effort but just angry at how everyone is complacent to this and we expect Nigeria to get better.

We all know these "Civil" servants who have multiple houses around the country with children in expensive schools abroad and even houses abroad. We all know their salaries are not adequate enough for this but no one speak about this but rather blame the government.

I just pray for Good Health for PMB to be able to better implement this initiative. Nigeria is completely rotten and no one seems to care.

PS: I don't live in naija but hope to do so full time at some point and it would be good to come back to a sane society at some point.

Me wey I dey lay one block per year in some kind of village in the very outskirts of Ibadan.

If I have 100 million dollars perhaps Nigeria will be the last place I look to retire in. I'll just go buy some small island in the pacific, build a shack and fish all day.
Talking about Ibadan, Where would be a good area to buy for the purpose of living in if one is planning on retiring to say in about 10 years. I love a big big compound with greens potentially a pool with one or 2 water features. I have very few guilty pleasure if any at all and home is where my heart is. I love fountains and am obsessed with anything with a laminar jet stream, I can watch it all day long!

I am looking for about 4-6 plots if possible but only if the price is right. If the land is cheap enough I don't mind. but accessibility is important too.

The biggest challenge I have had on my project is changing this mindset of "this is how we do it here". I have to constantly explain that Nigeria is not on Mars and the environment here is not that much different from Spain or Texas or Florida.
I am bloody well precise with what I want, why do people think everyone who walks into their shop doesn't have a mind of their own?

You darn well be sure I know exactly what I want to buy before setting out, what makes them think I will listen to their ill-informed advice at the shop when they go .."Oga this one is the better quality....." am like ....yeah right.

There are probably a lot of uninformed customers but still, most sellers/marketers or service providers (builders etc) think they always know what is right for the customer.

I always emphasize and reiterate my requirement and agreement over and over again. Some call me petty but that is based on an agreement.

Example: If I agree with a builder to start work at 10 am, I don't expect them to start at 12 pm unless I have been informed beforehand. I like to give people a very long rope and they might as well hang themselves with it.

If a potential service provider approaches me on the basis of religion, rest assured I will no longer continue with that transaction. This is a purely business transaction and has nothing to do with God, if your services/product are genuine, there is no need to drag God into it, for me it's as simple as that. I am more conscious dealing with religious people that less apparently religious ones.

If you don't mind me asking, for my knowledge, how did you figure out these panels were of inferior quality?
It was quite simple, he was meant to supply panels with open circuit voltage of about 36volt but when tested was around 21volt and more so when you count the number of solar modules in the each panels it was about 36 which means a 12V panels but the sticker on the panels clearly says otherwise.

https://www.altestore.com/blog/2015/10/how-do-solar-panels-work/

I did my research and did not find a single product from Sharp "supposedly" matching the product code he gave me before the items were delivered even though my instinct was screaming to walk away I was thinking to myself... Trust this guy, Sebi we spoke on the phone and he sounds trustworthy blah blah blah... The rest is story.

The tariffs could only be justified if the local capacity to manufacture is increased by the provision of enabling environment for local factories. There is no roads to most cheap lands producers might want to set up factories, while power remains a constant headache, security for far flung operations is non existent.

If I provide my own roads, my own power, and my own security, how cheap will my products be?

That's why I preach for enabling environment before the tariffs.
Spot on.

Government slapping a tariff before this would be putting the cart before the horse which is not unusual in Nigeria anyway.

While I do not have any issues with patronising Nigerian business or people on here, a lot of our people seem to have a penchant for lying through their tooth.

I did a Solar install for my folks about 6 months ago, I bought Trojan deep Cycle batteries from a friend who lives in the states and got the Inverter/charge controller from the UK here but due to the logistics of getting the panels to Nigeria on Time I opted to buy from a "supposedly solar engineer" on here, after talking to him on the phone for hours and explaining how I like people to stick to their words, he still bloody tried to pull a fast one on me and supplied inferior quality panels . I was disappointed to say the least I explained to him calmly what I think he did and he understood and rectified the situation.

This was someone whom I spoke to about how I have come to trust Nigerians less and less based on experienced and they always trying to pull a fast one on you but still went ahead to pull a fast one on me.

Thanks for that, I have a similar design although just 2 floors as against the 4 you have here. It's just using double your floor area but same 8 units of 2 bedrooms.

What would you think would be potential cost of foundation and possibly carcass for the whole structure.

I understand the cost of materials now are different from 3 months ago but that would be a good start.

The number of blocks also depends on the depth of your foundation footing. Make sure to subtract spaces in between the walls when doing your calculations. I guess you may have blocks left to continue the superstructure afterwards. Cheers.
Many thanks, noted.
