AlFath: Good afternoon everyone,
I have been delayed by the VO. I applied to Mount Saint Vincent University to study Master of Art In Child & Youth Study for Winter 2020. Applied on 10th of October Did Biometrics on 14th of October Biometrics Completed on 15th of October Received validity of biometric information yesterday 6th of October Refusal dropped today.
Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation. You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.
Please the gurus in the house in the person of; Frankrobbn1, NaijaForeigner, JustMellow, Qudkom, and others not mentioned, kindly advise me. Seems you have family members in Canada and not much in Nigeria? This looks like you have stronger ties in Canada than in Nigeria. Also the second paragraph is talking about your employment situation, are you currently employed? Perhaps you need to show proof of employability at the end of your course. Just my 2 cent, I ll let the gurus give their opinions. |

The issue with the Igbos is that they actively encourage getting rich all means necessary end of story. either they accept it or not.
Look at Ibori convicted criminal in uk UK, came to be governor and then convicted of crime again yet the delta people will still put him forward as their candidate for presidency.
How can a tribe collectively have no shame?
This is what the Igbos stand for which is just wrong on so many levels.... I ll leave this below, enough said! While there are criminals from other tribes as well, but the Igbos are the only ones who actively support any means to get rich, Kidnapping, Fake drugs, Fake medicine, Fake currency, Money Rituals etc.

Man always find an explanation for things we do not understand, Allah has given us science to help us understand and justify these things. SetApart78: Hi guys,
I've just received a refusal message. I applied through paper route on 21/10/2018 and I received the refusal message this morning. The reasons for my refusal are: 1. Pursuant to Section 219 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulation, I am not satisfied that you: i. have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees for the course or program of studies that you intend to pursue. 2. You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay. In reaching this decision, I considered several factors, including: i. immigration status in country of residence. ii. purpose of visit iii. employment prospects in country of residence.
But my application was supported with the following documents, in relation to these refusal reasons
1. I made a part payment of $19,300 towards my tuition fees out of $25,700 for the two years Msc program and receipts attached 2. My sponsor's (father in-law) bank account statement with a closing balance of N4.5m after making the part payment 3. My account statement with a closing balance of N2.2m (Nigeria account statement) 4. My recent employment offer letters (5), both the ones I accepted and those declined. This was to show employment prospect. 5. My employment visa in country of residence. 6. My six(6) months bank statement in country of residence, and 7. Letter from my employer
These were added to other documents to support the application. I am a bit confused on what next to do in order to address the VO's concerns. The program is starting by January and I need to reapply ASAP.
Please help. Sorry to hear about your refusal. You mentioned you made a hefty payment out of the tution and I see you have not mentioned anything about sustaining yourself during the 2 years, what is the cost of accommodation and feeding for the 2 years? I want to believe that is exclusive of the $25k you mentioned earlier, can you please explain what documentation you have provided and the projected cost of aside of tution for the 2 years? |

Disadvantage *Low pressure for water supply *Requires periodic maintenance to control water spillage on slab & walls Sorry for bring this up again, I have always been curious about this, for me erecting a steel or concrete structure purposely for the tank is unsightly and I hate the idea with a passion. I am starting a project soon and I plan on placing the tank on a slab above the bathroom, all designed into the building from scratch. The tank itself will have a 2 way safety valve and if an overflow occurs, the run off water will be directed into a concealed gutter etc. I cannot over emphasize how much I hate to see standalone Water storage structures. |

ThatHistoryGuy: Hi sir Its epic_ceramics here Vitrified tiles is the best for floor tiles cus the same colour at the surface penetrates through the entire thickness of the tile,so no matter the traffic at the area it remains for a long time. Most banks use vitrified tiles .
On braking the bank It all depends on who you buy from and the places you want use them for. Its quite affordable here in Lagos. There are vitrified tile in Nigerian,China and Spanish products .
My Advice: If you are buying enough tiles you can come to Lagos or let us deliver them to you in Ibadan. I believe it would be cheaper that way.
Below is a sample of Spanish vitrified tile Thanks for this, forget about buying in IB for a sec, if buying from Lagos, what are the price ranges per Sq/m etc. or per carton and what is the coverage from a carton . cheers |

He's merely pointing out that if you got some "paid" help in the actual act or carrying out the work done then he's suggesting its not entirely DIY except that definition fits the description of Doing it yourself in the Nigerian Context. But what Nigerians general mean when they are talking about DIY is buying the materials themselves and employing some local people giving them instructions of what you need them to do rather than calling them to quote and carry out a job for you. My 2 pence. |

EgunMogaji: As for me, individual water heaters are a waste unless they are tankless and even those can be argued against the necessity. For my apartment garage there is no water heater, it's not necessary. The courtyard bungalow will indeed have a water heater but it will be a central one that will only be piped to the 3 restrooms.
I salute you for thinking about alternatives. I find a lot of people just do follow follow without trying to decide what works best for them. I like the practicality and sentiments in your your post when necessary, mostly punctuated with the line that what works for you may not work for anyone else. EgunMogaji: In regards to understairs space.
It is a very useful real estate that can be used for a variety of things such as restroom, storage, media center.
The space can be made light and airy with passive methods. Easily.
For air exchange, a regular or solar powered whirlybird can be used. For light, depending on the location of the stairs especially if it's next to an exterior wall, a light tube will provide light during the day.
Building technology is out there to be used. They've designed and manufactured it, now it's up to us to integrate it. Let's stop limiting ourselves. I am kind of a DIY person myself and I have quite some tools and I am a Gadget/Media freak, I currently use a similar storage in my current abode for multiple purposes e.g. Printer room, Media Server room, switch and my networking kits. Yes I totally agree with no limiting our scope, hence everything has to been though of right from the design stage. |

Can anyone practically say the amount of Hot water that is used on a daily basis in a typical Nigerian household?
For example do people typically require hot water for bathing daily or for cooking etc. reason for my question is I see a lot of houses installed water heater in each bathroom but hardly get a chance to use these due to lack of electricity or these were not installed properly from the start and hence its just an expensive decor for the bathroom.
Personally I don't think we make use of hot water so much as to warrant a dedicated heater for each bathroom. I am looking a installing Evacuated solar tubes to get free heating from the sun rather than using electricity for heating, on the flip side if the electricity is readily available, it might not be such a bad idea as the boiling will be on an adhoc basis.
I would ideally want to know if I want to implement Solar heating Tubes as this will determine the type of roof design, I will definitely be using solar for all the lighting at the minimum. |

Aventures: Nice concept and good use of space. second thing I appreciate about the design is cost effectiveness (less partitions), good ample spaces around the compound. But I agree with Egunmogaji on the direct exposure of TV to the living room. Lastly the upper floor of the unit on the right has a tight lobby, poor ventilation, poor lighting, no private living. I will suggest reduction of the rooms to 3 and used the beveled portion as family private living. Best wishes. Thanks for the observation, That was incorrectly labelled, I have added the second upper floor design showing that beveled portion as a private living area. So you observed correctly. Thanks for the observation. So it fair to assume not much rework is required once the VT issue addressed.

EgunMogaji: Apart from the VT and the ensuite stuff it actually is a good use of space but I'm no architect.
I will never build an ensuite property even when I start doing commercial stuff. Only the master should have an ensuite. The kids need's to learn how to cohabitate to prepare themselves for college dorms. I agree on all counts. I have always insisted the kids pair up in each room, lucky for me I have 2 of each sex, so very easy to split, my eldest daugther has been moaning she wants her own room, and I always laugh at her like Omo yi o mo nkan kan. I always tell her, when you get a job then you can buy/build your own house and then you can have your own room, however long that takes, heck. I have asked for the whole plan to me made a little bit more compact, getting rid of the VT on the other side as well. I want the external space to be a big as possible without detrimentally affecting the functionality of the interior spaces, will make use of cantilever on the upper floors. Will make them 4 bedroom tops on each side and leave the toilet as one to be shared downstairs. |
Properties › Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by dejavus: 5:08pm On Apr 04, 2018 |
EgunMogaji: I think Nigerians don't make visitors toilet private enough. I have an issue with the VT on the unit of the left.
If it were my house and in such tight space, I would simply combine the visitor's toilet with the one for the guest bedroom. What are the odds that a guest and a visitor will need to use the same space at the same time.
These are the types of logic that I applied to my build. It makes sense to the way I entertain but might not make sense to yours. My opinion is worth what you paid for it. I agree with you, infact this is the fairer of 2 potential designs. I currently reside outside Nigeria and that Visitor's toilet is a no no for me as well. I totally agree with you on having just one to serve the bedroom downstairs at the same time. Infact I personally do not like the idea of en suite bedrooms, its just a waste of resources but apparently its the way things are done in Nigeria. The only reason I agree to the en suite toilet and bath in the upper floor is just on the likelihood this property will be up for sale after some times and in order to appeal to potential future buyers. So yes I agree with you totally, It makes no sense to have the toilet in full view of the living. Bar the toilet, any other issues you can identify. |
