Interpol Recommends EFCC As Africa’s Model In Anti-Corruption War Channels Television Updated February 9, 2018 The Secretary-General of Interpol, Jurgen Stock, has recommended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as a model for the African continent in the fight against corruption. He said this on Friday when he led a delegation of the Interpol to the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja. Stock, who was received by the Acting EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Magu, was delighted at the efforts of the anti-graft agency and assured them of the global organisation’s support at the international level. He also commended the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for its efforts in fighting corruption in Nigeria. “I am delighted to be here and it’s mainly an opportunity to thank the Government and the EFCC for its cooperation,” he said in a statement signed by the Commission’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren. The Interpol boss further stressed the need to understand the global directions of organised crimes, noting that “the world is taking advantage of globalisation to commit crime and it’s a threat to all nations”. “Interpol is committed to supporting the EFCC, and indeed, other agencies to build global security architecture and ensure that adequate information is made available amongst other infrastructure to support the Commission. “We understand your needs and we will see where we can come in and unite forces to fight against the Global phenomenon of crime,” he added. On his part, Magu commended the delegation for the visit and thanked Stock for finding time out of his busy schedule as the Secretary General of Interpol. He said, “The EFCC has always had a good rapport with the Interpol and has always enjoyed collaboration with the organisation, especially in the area of information sharing.” The anti-graft agency boss advocated for a borderless platform to further support efficiency in information sharing culture with the global organisation. He also called for more collaboration with the Interpol which has 192 member states, saying it was essential for the effective operation of the EFCC. Other members on the Interpol entourage include the Head of Interpol Nigeria, Olusola Subair; Head of Interpol – Regional Bureau for West Africa, Kedji Abbe; and Deputy Head of Interpol Nigeria, Bankola Lanre, among others. https://www.channelstv.com/2018/02/09/interpol-recommends-efcc-as-africas-model-in-anti-corruption-war/

GavelSlam:I think they are picking up the pace lately. EFCC too seems to have learnt their lessons by avoiding unnecessary delay from the part of the prosecution |
Alleged N520m Bribery: Court Orders Rickey Tarfa To Enter Defense A Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere, presided over by Justice Adedayo Akintoye, dismissed the no-case submission initiated by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Rickey Tarfa on Friday. BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORKFEB 09, 2018 A Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere, presided over by Justice Adedayo Akintoye, dismissed the no-case submission initiated by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Rickey Tarfa on Friday. The court equally declined to award the N520m damages prayed for by the SAN against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for “malicious prosecution”. It would be recalled that the anti-graft agency had instituted a 26-counts charge that has to do with bribery and attempt to pervert the course of justice. But after the EFCC closed its case against Tarfa, the SAN through his lawyer, Jelili Owonikoko, filed a no-case submission on the grounds that after reviewing the case of the prosecution, he came to the conclusion that he had no case to answer. In her ruling, Justice Akintoye held that the prosecution had established the essential elements of the offenses which the defendant was charged with. According to the judge, "What is expected of this court at this stage of no-case submission is to look at the evidence adduced so far and determine whether a prima facie case has been disclosed against the defendant." “At this stage also, the prosecution is not required to have established its case beyond reasonable doubts against the defendant, as the guilt of the defendant is not an issue now." “I have carefully evaluated the evidence so far with the totality of evidence adduced before this honorable court; it is my opinion that the prosecution has established the essential elements of the alleged offenses with which the defendant is charged." “The evidence of the prosecution witnesses has not been discredited by the cross-examination of the defense counsel to the extent that no reasonable tribunal will simply convict, based on it." “I, therefore, hold that a prima facie case of failing and refusing to declare his assets, making false information to an officer of the EFCC and offering gratification to a public official as stated in the amended information filed before this court has been made against the defendant." “Therefore, the defendant is called upon to enter his defense and the no-case submission filed on his behalf is hereby dismissed." “With regard to the defendant’s applicant claim for exemplary damages for malicious prosecution against the EFCC, I find no merit in this claim of N520m damages and same is refused.” The matter has been adjourned until March 13, 2018, for the defense to open its case. Tarfa has been standing trial since March 2016, and on October 23, 2017, the EFCC closed its case. http://saharareporters.com/2018/02/09/alleged-n520m-bribery-court-orders-rickey-tarfa-enter-defense

Odingo1:Tell that to Beerfrauds that has made abandoned property a talking point and listed it as one of the bad things done to them. |
eezeribe:Language is a means of communication. Our culture remains our identity. We should be proud of it. |
Obdk:Those who did, were only quoting Ikweres, Aniomas etc . Some of whom refused to be identified as eboes. Some even seized your properties in PH. Ikweres seized your properties in PH. I guess they dont like you or dont want to be identfied with you. You cannot continue to blame Yorubas for your woes, moreso when you have difficulty living in harmony with your neighbours. |
Obdk:Those who did, were only quoting Ikweres, Aniomas etc . Some of whom refused to be identified as eboes. Some even seized your properties in PH. Ikweres seized your properties in PH. I guess they dont like you or dont want to be identfied with you. |
Ratello:Mrs Jinadu, do you know how to get the information or not? Stop being dodgy and petty at the same time. lol |
Ratello:Are you able to search for the news? Do you know how to get the news based on the hint I gave you? Yes or no will suffice instead of this pretence. |
Ratello:Are you not able to find the news by yourself? Do you need help or you are just pretending. Very typical lol |
Chidexter:Typical busy body Yebhoe. You will rather preoccupy yourself withAfonja, neglecting the plight of eboes in Benue state. Kwantinue |
Ratello:Use search engine: Why I have not visited United State. -Atiku. I hope you know how to do that? |
nex:I think it is a welcome development. |
Chidexter:Different marriages, yet they share boundary with you at Nsukka, and look like you. The lost tribe of eboe. LMAO. |
Odingo1:You can be indigenous to anywhere. What matter is how you relate with your neighbours there and if they accept you or not. I have seen many Ikwere and Anioma deny that they are eboe. That does not mean that they do not have ancestral lineage with the eboes. They may not like your guts and deny you because of that. Even among the so called 5 SE state, you see some discrimation against wawa , mbaise eboe etc. Some consider Ebonyi eboes as not real eboe or inferior. |
Sinof:Yes o. |
Chidexter:But some of them have eboe names? How come? Some of them openly complained of slavery in Benue state and cried out for help busy body. |
TheKingIsHere:Can you recollect who the Minister of education is when history was removed from our curriculum? |
devindevin2000:Busy body. What is the status of the eboes in Benue state? Some of them have been complaining of slavery, but you seems not to care about their plight. |
Nltaliban:Apart from running others down with your mouth, what can you make as an individual? |
histemple:Oba Otudeko of Honeywell is in court today over unpaid debt and the Yorubas are not playing the ethnic card as the Igbos are doing with Innosson. |
Oba Otudeko of Honeywell is in court today and nobody is playing the ethnic card as the Igbos are doing with Innosson. |
CROWNWEALTH019:Must you defend and have sympathy for thieves? |
The man should go and defend himself in court. |
There will be no peace for the wicked. Nigeria has been crippled and grounded by corruption. Looters are enemy of Nigeria and the well being of Nigerians. |
lukaf17:Even IBB, Abdulsalami and Abacha are not Fulani. No be FFK's fault say he they talk nonsense. Na the drug wey dey scatter him head. |
GreatXpectation:Farming is not in the list of what you will like to do. It is the surest way out of hunger. You should try it sometimes. |
Ratello:Keep deceiving yourself. Even Atiku admitted that he cannot visit USA as a private citizen. |
BeardedMeat:In a matter that is already before a judge? You have zero faith even in yourself ![]() |
Seized 86 cars, houses: FG charges civil servant, North-East presidential committee chief Published February 8, 2018 Ade Adesomoju,, Abuja The Federal Government on Thursday arraigned a federal civil servant, Mr. Ibrahim Tumsah and his brother, Mr. Tijani Tumsah, before the Federal High Court in Abuja with failure to declare their assets to the Chief Okoi Obono-Obla-led Special Presidential Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property. Ibrahim is the Director of Finance and Account in the Federal Ministry of Power, Works, and Housing, while his brother, Tijani, is a member of the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative and a former Interim National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress. The Federal Government had on January 18, 2018 filed a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CR/4/2018 containing two counts of failure of the defendants to declare their assets “without reasonable excuse and upon the notice to declare” them before the panel. Earlier on December 6, 2017, Justice Muawiyah Idris of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Apo, Abuja, had ordered hat 86 luxury vehicles together with four houses and a quarry plant in Abuja, all of which the panel allegedly seized from the two defendants. The PUNCH had exclusively reported that the seized 86 vehicles, 23 of which were said to be armoured, were brand new. The court’s forfeiture orders also affected four houses, two of which were located in Wuse II, one in Wuse Zone 7, and the other in Jabi, all in Abuja. The two brothers pleaded not guilty to the two counts when read to them before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday. The offences were said to be contrary to and punishable under section 3(3)(1)(a) of the Recovery of Public Property (Special Provision) Act 2004. Their lawyers, Abdul Mohammed (for Ibrahim) and Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN) (for Tijani), applied for their clients’ bail. The prosecuting counsel, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), did not oppose the bail application. The judge subsequently granted bail to the two defendants by adopting the bail conditions agreed upon by the prosecution and the defence. Part of the conditions was a bail sum of N20m. http://punchng.com/seized-86-cars-houses-fg-charges-civil-servant-north-east-presidential-committee-chief/ See earlier thread.
