If Nation Newspaper like make dem bias that na their problem. You see the President so come 2023, na North I go vote. South West think they are wiser than South South and South East. You are occupying the office of Vice President currently and still want the seat of President to be zoned to you in 2023. Oh yeah, South East and South South are fools na. The last time someone from there became President, it was due to massive support from South South, South East and North, and not them. Waiting patiently for Tambuwal or Atiku to be PDP candidate make I see the Ekpa from South West wey wan become President. They think they are politically smart. If South is to retain power, the seat must be zone to South South or South East. South West option is for Buhari to rig the election for them, that is why Tinubu is still loyal to Buhari. He knows he doesn't have the number, that is why APC was considering making Goodluck their Candidate but Goodluck fast pass them (make me President and then their Fulani CJN go interpret the constitution to mean say Goodluck nor suppose contest because he is restricted by the constitution, and then gbam, they swear in the vice who will be a Fulani from North). Goodluck don see the future. No Southerner without the support of South East and South South will ever become President. It is not boasting but the fact. There are 11 states in South South and South East and 6 in South West. If they don't consider you, na North go leave their candidate come vote you? Make we see. More than 30 percent of people in Lagos State are from these zones. We already know that they are the ones giving those votes to PDP right from time even in 2015 and 2019. With them, PDP is sure of 30 percent of the total votes in Lagos. Rivers voting strength don finish Oyo own, Delta don paralyse Ogun, Edo go neutralise Ondo, Akwa Ibom go take on Osun, Cross Rivers go work on Ekiti small population. Then South East votes plus Bayelsa votes go be extra. What the South West failed to realise is that the political hatred the South South have for them currently is more than the hatred the South East have for them either politically or socially, and this was caused by them, teaming with the North to remove Jonathan.

Abeg no much talk.
You did this same useless analysis 8n 2015 and 2019. Now you have started again. Are you not tired of your own foolishness?

Yet the boots we need on the ground are those of constructors, not the military. Africa’s fight against terror is the world’s fight. We will defeat them one highway, one rail link — and one job — at a time.

Gbamsolutely, what we need is development. That is why some failed village idiots are working night a day to repatriate their successful brethren in the city by shouting secession. That is why we have some fools who support corruption because crumbs will be available for them to take home. If more focus is paid to addressing poverty many conflicts will fizzle out quickly.
If not that the opposition are just shameless, the infrastructure that Buhari is building and completing now, is something they should have done long time ago especially during high price of oil and low wage bill.
Not surprising though as they have a different approach to building the economy by relying on importation of goods and services aka container economy. They also believe in sharing the money among few while leaving our critical infrastructure to decay.
That is what the country will never go back to. But they are still having a false hope of return. Maybe after 2023 when they receive another round of defeat, they will accept their fate .

Muhammadu Buhari: Africa needs more than US military aid to defeat terror
Building infrastructure, connecting remote regions and providing jobs will strengthen the continent’s defences

Muhammadu Buhari AUGUST 15 2021

The author is president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Though some believe the war on terror winds down with the US departure from Afghanistan, the threat it was supposed to address burns fiercely on my continent. Africa is the new frontline of global militancy. Yet few expect the outlay expended here to be as great as in Afghanistan. The fight against terrorism begun under the George W Bush administration was never truly global.

Despite rising attacks across Africa in the past decade, international assistance has not followed in step. Mozambique is merely the latest African state in danger from terrorism. The Sahel remains vulnerable to Boko Haram, 20 years after its formation, and other radical groups. Somalia is in its second decade fighting the equally extreme al-Shabaab. Many African nations are submerged under the weight of insurgency.

As Africans, we face our day of reckoning just as some sense the west is losing its will for the fight. It is true that some of our western allies are bruised by their Middle Eastern and Afghan experiences. Others face domestic pressures after the pandemic. Africa was not then, and even less now, their priority.

But the threat cannot be ignored. Covid-19 has been like oxygen for terrorism, allowing it to gain in strength while the world was preoccupied. Sooner or later, the reverberations will be felt beyond Africa. If extremist groups are able to hold territory, it can inspire disillusioned people living in the west to commit heinous acts of terror in their own countries. The self-proclaimed caliphate of Daesh in Iraq and Syria fulfilled that propaganda function, boosting transcontinental recruitment.

We must not complacently assume that military means alone can defeat the terrorists. If Afghanistan has taught us a lesson, it is that although sheer force can blunt terror, its removal can cause the threat to return.

The US and its western allies cannot be expected to underpin the security of others everywhere and indefinitely. Africa has enough soldiers of our own. However, more can be done to help with technical assistance, advanced weaponry, intelligence and ordinance. The US air strikes last month against al-Shabaab in Somalia — the first of the Biden administration — show what can and should be done.

But what Africa needs most from the US is a comprehensive partnership to close the disparity between our economic and demographic growth. Despite having six of the world’s top 10 fastest-growing economies, my continent’s gross domestic product gains are insufficient to provide for burgeoning populations. Since the start of the US-led war on terror in 2001, Africa’s population has nearly doubled. Every day, every month, this means more unemployed or underemployed entering the labour market, far outstripping economic expansion. A lack of hope is the chief recruiting sergeant for the continent’s new brand of terrorism.

What we need above all is investment in infrastructure. Transport and freight lines can spread opportunity across nations unequal in economic strength. In parts of Africa, a government’s grip on remote territories can be tenuous. Militant groups step into the void. Some even provide a form of governance, however perverse. These areas must be connected with their surroundings.

The recent attacks in Cabo Delgado in northern Mozambique illustrate the point. Their target was a vast natural gas project, part of an international investment which extracts wealth but provides few jobs for locals. This fuels grievances in a poverty-stricken province. It is a landing pad for the likes of Daesh.

That is why we in Nigeria have begun building a train line from the southern coast through the north-east to Niger, our neighbour. My government has been accused of wasting money, because trade between our two nations is minimal. But that is hardly a surprise, given that there is no trade infrastructure between us.

The train line will pay dividends in security, a prerequisite for economic growth. Some will remember that Boko Haram originated in north-eastern Nigeria, along the border with Niger. First, they agitated against a lack of opportunity. Then they radicalised into the terrorists we face today.

The US already has schemes such as Power Africa, which invests in the continent’s essential energy infrastructure. However, more must be done. Ultimately, Africans need not swords but ploughshares to defeat terror. Yes, we require the technological and intelligence support that our armies do not possess. Yet the boots we need on the ground are those of constructors, not the military. Africa’s fight against terror is the world’s fight. We will defeat them one highway, one rail link — and one job — at a time.

Even if the trains don't break even in 1000 years any scenario that will bring efficiency in logistics and cutting travel time is most welcome. Any arrangement that will cut the cost of transporting a container from the Apapa port to the far ends of the country from 1.5m to the proposed 650k is always a welcome development.
The prospects of sending food down south at 650k for a trailer load instead of 1.2m is welcome and won't just be a feel-good effect on the long-suffering masses that has watched PDP goons as our earnings was diverted to buy private jets and luxury yacht when we earned real good money

My brother arrived in Lagos this morning from Ibadan at 10:15am, in the good old days of PDP Obi people, he will still be at Ogere struggling with traffic and might not arrive until 2pm. At this moment he's already attending his second meeting/assignment and will be done before dusk to retire comfortably home for a good rest.

He can achieve more due to the railway you call feel good and useless, and will return home early tomorrow morning to continue his activities in his home.

Where are the jobs created from the 5Trn loan AMCON is chasing people about to repay> You are asking they be given another 750Bn to go fail with due to lack of power supply, poor infrastructure, and means of logistics?

I expect opposition worth its salt to be cerebral, diligent, and honest in its submission, but this attempt is really exasperating, disgusting and very dumb, to say the least
Brilliant. Excellent!!

PDP has been very unfair to the Igbos. The Igbos have slaved enough for the party. Unfortunately South East leaders are very selfish and myopic to be taken serious by other stakeholders in the party.
Whenever PDP ask the Igbos to jump, the next question is always how high..Igbos will do anything for PDP as if they own them .

Bros, while I don't want unnecessary argument, I must not fail to show my amusement on your assertions.

You brought up Chibok girls, then the question to you is how many more chibok girls style abductions have happened since 2015? Oh! Probably in your mind, those school kids abductions never happened or the kidnappers are playing with the children.

If you cannot fear man, make una fear God oooo. These are people's children and families oooo.
I knew you will bring up other kidnapping that happened recently. The difference you failed to see is that, unlike 2015, most of those kidnappings were either foiled or the kidnapped people are retrieved . Also, the motive behind recent kidnappings is not terrorism but rather for financial gain and the kidnappers are mostly bandits which is different from terrorism activities of Boko Haram. I am also not interested in wasting my time on unnecessary argument but just wanted to put things in the right perspective especially for others who might be interested in the truth and not political wailing or emotional blackmail.

Another nonsense.

The US is a peculiar case due to its stubborn insistence on gun rights.

Even then the case in Nigeria is far more dire.

90% of the world don't have the death rates that Nigeria-has.

Just look at Ghana here and our other west African neighbours.

More people die in Nigeria per week than in our neighbors per year.

You are a clown.

First of all, who is blackmailing their country? Pointing out the security situation is now blackmailing the country? You just want people to say things are alright when the reality is opposite?
Guy, Nigeria insecurity is worse now than 2014 if you want to tell yourself the truth. Aren't you seeing the carnage that is going on in the middle belt and north?
Bombs not going off in Abuja does not tell the story. It is possible that boko haram decided to change strategy. Ask yourself if boko haram wants to bomb anywhere, what will stop them? Which one is more difficult? Kidnapping hundreds of school children at once or sneaking and detonating bombs around.
Let us pray that boko and their fulani brothers don't return to bombing strategy cos they can easily do that if they so desire.
Btw, boko haram is still controlling territories in the north.
Security situation is definitely better than 2014. Kidnapping of Chibok girls readily
comes to mind and it takes this administration to recover some of the girls where the previous admin could not do much. I dont share your views. Whoever is using insecurity news to define their country is definitely blackmailing the country hence the comparison to USA. Nobody defines USA situation with the huge number of gun violence. I dont expect you to agree with me and neither should you expect me to share yours. We have large numbers of people that share either views.

Shall Nigeria be a killing field because the US has a gun violence problem? What of other countries that don't have that problem? Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Switzerland etc.
Gun violence in America is not surprising, I expect the rate to be higher than what it is now. America is a country where owning guns are legal. In fact, it is enshrined in the constitution. Anyone can walk into a gun shop and buy a gun. In fact in some states you can openly carry our guns around. Despite the gun violence, Americans still want to have their guns.
Guns are illegal in Nigeria for civilians so why is the insecurity so alarming? I don't know why some of you guys are quick to compare bad things in other countries to justify your own bad things but will never use the good things in those countries to compare your own.
You failed to see the reason for making the comparison. What we are saying is that despite the large number of casualties due to gun violence in the USA, US citizens are not using the staggering number to blackmail their country. With all the US resources, they still have these huge number, not to talk of a country like Nigeria with similar Presidential system but smaller revenue to fight insecurity.
Aside the attempts to blackmail the country, any unbiased person will admit that security situation has improved since 2014 when bombs used to go up in Abuja and other places. When people cannot freely go to church because of suicide bombers. When many local govt were directly under the control of Boko Haram, over 6,000 killed in a year and millions turned to IDP's.
After many years of neglect, Nigeria is currently investing in security and other critical, physical infrastructure that will improve security.
