When you get to the point where you have job interview sessions with some of them you will see things from my point of view.

Helen Paul for instance can't do as little as punctuate appropriately in a write up as short as this yet she's all about the show of a "gown" and a "title" .In her myopic reasoning she actually believes that she is worthy of that degree? Nigeria seriously needs to be rescued ASAP.

These are fairly debatable.

What is not debatable is the comatose state of Nigeria's educational system. Unfortunately, Nigeria runs a Presidential System of governance where the type of governance obtainable at the center, easily transmits to the branches and roots. I'm not sure what educational transformation someone with a questionable School Certificate can deliver. We will be deceiving ourselves if we are asking for or expecting anything more than mediocre.

I am almost certain of her write up being re-read and approved by her before posting. To most so called "academics" being churned out now via the education sector, they must be seen to be perfect as that is how far their level of reasoning takes them. Perfection which only lies in the "eyes of the beholder" considering grammatical blunders and disgracefully punctuated write ups scattered everywhere by our PhD holders.

The likes of Prof. Osinbajo may not get us to the promise land. He will however pave the way for us to get there. Nigeria will be great again.

Do I regard PhDs obtained in Nigeria at the same level as the ones obtained in the West? Certainly not! And there are the REF framework and other measuring models that quantitatively shows the varied distinction. However, this is a systems issue and there are Nigerian academics with PhDs obtained from Nigeria, who have higher research outputs than their colleagues in the West.

Maybe before the rottening of the system and polity by unscrupulous elements. Helen Paul certainly did not write this in a rush. I bet she read through and gave herself several nods of approval before finally posting.

Nigeria back in the day is not what's obtainable now. I reiterate that we seriously need help. I do not celebrate mediocrity. I am speaking in general terms. Our education system is a big mess save for a few. I know what I am getting at. Nigeria certainly needs a rescue. I tell you.

Many People will find it hard to believe because of her profession, I heard its a Ph.d in theater arts or so. Its not easy at all. I know because my mom went through this process, from going for seminar to seminar especially when you are working. She would give multiple excuses to take leave from work to meet up with the seminar (you must be present) and would leave her workplace by 5pm to go to Unilag to meet her supervisor in-spite of this nonsense lagos hold-upand would get home by 11pm sometimes 12. The stress is crazy, then there's Apc, Vivre and so on, not really conversant with the terms. Then there are the battle hardened professors throwing horrible questions at you during presentation that would break you down, your supervisor would then try to defend you. I have seen it live and know it's not an easy feat.

I've thought about it before, but at this point in my life i'm not interested in a Ph.d, even masters sef get as e be as B.sc don show me pepper. Maybe my perspective would change over time, I don't know. I wouldn't want a Ph.d so people would keep calling me Dr. upandan, i'm not really interested in research or the academic route, but i know its not easy and admire the guts of those who tread that path.

If this is true, can you convince us readers that ability to speak good English equates to being educated? I think as a PhD, you ought to be careful of the hasty generalization lest the essence of the degree comes to question. Touching on the intellect of the average PhD holder in Nigeria does not in any way mean that I attended a tier1 school. Some Nigerians simply do not appreciate the truth. Like I said a host of PhD holders in Nigeria are half baked and can't match their counterparts world wide. The system is corrupt including the education system.

I know from Helen Paul's caption that all she bagged a PhD for is for the show. When an individual like this is challenged intellectually i am double sure that she will flunk badly. Half baked doctors who have nothing upstairs abound in a country where corruption took over the polity for 16 years.
