GOD speaks HIS plan at the beginning, but then HIS plan speaks at the end. GOD begins by declaration, but concludes by manifestation. There are two voices: the voice of description, and the voice of manifestation. At the end of the season is the voice of manifestation. Praise GOD As part of efforts to combat traffic gridlock, and eliminate road traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities this end of the year, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed it's entire workforce, including Special Marshals to the highways to ensure hitch free movement as commuters travel from one destination to another across the nation. The Corps, according to a statement signed by the Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), achieved this through effective and efficient distribution of logistics and operational materials nationwide. This logistics include the deployment of 157 administrative vehicles, 754 patrol vehicles, 143 ambulances, and 48 tow trucks. This is in addition to deployment of radar guns to check speed violations, setting out 16 traffic control camps on different routes, as well as man 53 critical routes nationwide. The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed who authorised the deployment also directed Commanding Officers to ensure 24 hours observatory along high volume traffic/gridlock prone areas, full mobilization of 23 Help Areas, adequate utilisation of 59 Emergency Ambulance (Zebra) Points, full mobilization of Road Side (RTC) Clinics, and 24/7 broadcast on National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM. The 2024 Operation Zero Tolerance commenced on 15 December 2024 to span through to 15 January 2025. The operation which is programmed to run in shifts as follows 0600hrs - 1400hrs, 1400HRS - 2000hrs, 2000hrs - 2200hrs, and Night Rescue teams on standby at all operational Commands is billed to cover the following critical corridors; Sokoto-Tambuwal-Jega-Birnin Kebbi corridor, Katsina-Kano-Wudil-Dutse-Azare-Potiskum corridor, Kaduna-Saminaka-Jos corridor, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano corridor, Okene-Ogori-Isua-Owo corridor, Makurdi-Otukpo-Obollo Afor-9th Mile corridor, Asaba-Abraka-Ughelli-Warri corridor, Ibadan-Ogere-Sagamu corridor, Sagamu-Mowe-Lagos corridor, amongst others. Explaining some of the reasons for the year's early and holistic approach to safer roads, the Corps Marshal said that the Corps has observed that a key characteristics of the period over the years is an upsurge in traffic volume, excessive speed, Overloading of vehicles with goods, animals and persons, impatience by motorists who may not have adequately planned their journeys, or motorists managing mechanically deficient vehicles to and fro their travel destinations. According to him, the above mentioned are known to be the major causes of chaos and indiscipline among all classes of road users, leading to crashes, fatalities, loss of properties as well as traffic congestion/gridlocks. The operation which compliments the ongoing ember months aggressive sensitisation, will cover the broad areas of traffic control/decongestion, Public enlightenment, Enforcement, prompt response to crash victims, route lining among others. The Corps Marshal emphasised that the enforcement is aimed at checkmating Excessive speed, Overloading, Dangerous Driving/Overtaking, Lane indiscipline/Route violation, Road Obstructions, Use of Phone while Driving, Overloading Violation, Seatbelt/Child restraint Use Violations, Passengers’ Manifest Violations, Mechanically Deficient Vehicles, Latching and Twist-Locks Violations. In addition to the foregoing, the Corps Marshal also directed massive constitution of Mobile Courts across the Nation. The directive also mandates the Commanding Officers to ensure effective collaboration with Military Units, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Directorate of State Services (DSS), NGO Ambulance Service Providers, National Network on Emergency Road Services (NNERS) and the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA). The Corps Marshal further stated that the operatives will be charged with the responsibility of identifying alternative routes to assist motorists during gridlocks, and give notification of traffic distressed areas for intervention. The Minister, who was represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Yusuf Abubakar Argungu commended the effort of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) in addressing the challenges of security in Bwari Area Council thereby providing a conducive environment for both citizens and their businesses In his words, “The presence of this divisional headquarters of the police in this location will protect citizens commuting daily for their daily activities from the danger of kidnapping, one chance, and robbery as well as other related crimes affecting people in the city. He urged the Nigeria Police Force, a leading internal security agency in the country, to continue to promote synergy with citizens in the location and other security agencies in the city to uphold the responsibility of enforcing laws and prosecuting offenders in the federal capital city. Gaidam reiterated that the Federal Government is poised for the emergence of a world-class police force that is inclusive, intelligence-led, technology-driven, and community-based and that is alive to its constitutional responsibilities and commitment to implementing the ongoing comprehensive police reform to revolutionize the policing landscape by fostering inclusivity, community engagement, intelligence-driven operations, and technological integration. Since then, the song has spurred Corps members to great feats in various spheres of influence during the mandatory 1-year of service to the country. It is this same clarion call that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DC Operations, Enugu State Command, DCP Olasoji Olasunkanmi Akinbayo obeyed, not to wear the white and green khaki, but to give back a landmark support that will make lives better for those who are currently wearing the white and green khaki in Enugu State. This is by the renovation of the female Police hostel within the NYSC orientation camp, Awgu, Enugu State which is in a terrible state of disrepair and dilapidation. The hostel houses Police officers who provide safety and security for Corp members who stay in the Awgu orientation camp for their 21-day orientation programme, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report. Having received a courtesy visit of the new State Coordinator, NYSC Enugu State, Mrs. Oluwakemi Awolola during which he was intimated of the bad shape of the orientation camp, the humanitarian DCP Olasoji Akinbayo moved by his milk of kindness embarked on the renovation of the female Police hostel in the Awgu camp. He carried out the renovation in order to contribute his quota to the renovation of the camp. The Police officers' building is now properly floored with tiles, furnished with beds, doors and windows fixed, other house fittings in place, and burglary placed round the facility. During his official handover of the keys to the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Awolola expressed gratitude on behalf of the entire NYSC and particularly, the beneficiaries who are female Police officers even as she expressed delight at the development. The female Police officers were very enthusiastic and sang the praises of the humanitarian disposition of DCP Akinbayo Olasoji Olasunkanmi. In her statement, the State Coordinator, NYSC Enugu State, Mrs Oluwakemi Awolola thanked DCP Olasoji Akinbayo and used the opportunity to call on stakeholders and other philanthropists to join in the development of NYSC orientation camp for the comfort of corps members and officials. This is not the first time that DCP Olasoji Akinbayo would be involved in gestures which bring facelift to infrastructure in and around where he works. NAOSNP recalled that DCP Olasoji Akinbayo did great works in every Division, Area and Command that he has served. This includes Ikeja, Apapa, Mushin, among other places. Further, in 2015, the incorruptible officer, Olasoji held firm to his integrity as he refused a bribe of NGN 21 million and USD 12,900 offered him to allow a criminal escape arrest. This faithful act was then hailed by the national body of the Nigerian Bar Association in a commendation letter.
