AYO OGUNSAN COMMENDS EXEMPLARY SERVICE AS 'IRON LADY' CP EBUNOLUWAROTIMI ADELESI RETIRES, LAUNCHES BOOK

To enrol in the service of the country under the Nigeria Police Force and successfully disengage from the service gracefully is the blessings of the Lord. This blessing of the Lord is what the Commissioner of Police in Kwara state, CP Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi enjoyed as she is pulled out of service today 31st August 2023 after years of meritorious service to fatherland.

The CP's retirement ceremony which featured a public lecture and book launch had in attendance representative of the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq; Dr. Kamoru Ibitoye Yusuf, the board member of Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan; and many other dignitaries. Trek Africa Newspaper can also report that the book launched today was written by the retired CP Adelesi. The book is titled 'Functional Police Memo'.

Dr. Ayo Ogunsan in his felicitation message at the event in Ilorin, Kwara state was full of gratitude to God for the life and work of crime-busting officer, CP Ebunoluwa Adelesi. 'It is a great feeling, all we want to say is Glory to God. We thank God for this rare privilege given to our sister, CP Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi. For police officers, everyday seems like the last not giving assurance. But we thank God for CP Adelesi, day in, day out, from one location to another, God preserved her and family and we can all witness this day.'

To the celebrant, Dr. Ogunsan said: 'Congratulations on this book launch. I salute your painstaking ability and courage to put this book together. This will invariably give an inkling into the life of a police officer. Nigeria definitely needs volumes like this. I often say that we don't appreciate ourselves including our officers enough.'

Trek Africa Newspaper can report that CP Adelesi’s crime-fighting capacity, combat readiness, no-nonsense approach to earned her the nickname 'Iron Lady' in her days as police officer. Ebunoluwa Adelesi, the first-ever female CP in Kwara State, as part of her record of service included serving in Lagos State Command as CP General Investigation and in Kwara State Command as DCP (Administration) under the Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun during his tenure as Commissioner of Police of Kwara State.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam has reiterated the need for the police ecosystem to collectively address the issue of response time to distress calls by Nigerians to enable citizens to enjoy the safer environment in the country.


Gaidam made the disclosure via a statement signed by Bolaji O. Kazeem, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).

The statement, NAOSNP learnt was made by Gaidam during the official briefing by the Ag. Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun for the Honourable Minister, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam and Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja.


The Minister said this can be achieved through the effective use of technology, inter-agency collaboration, the building of mutual trust, and proper management of information. By working together, we can enhance national security and create a safer environment for all Gaidam stressed.
To enhance our response capabilities, Gaidam said, we need to establish a standby force of at least three units of the Police Mobile Force in each state command. This will ensure a rapid and effective response to unforeseen incidents.


In his words, “Community engagement and trust building should be emphasized as well. The police force must actively involve the communities they serve, fostering a sense of cooperation and partnership. By enhancing coordination between Federal, State, and local law enforcement, we can create a unified front against crime and ensure a more effective response.


He added that to tackle the diverse range of criminal activities, they need to establish specialized units that can address each type of crime. This will require comprehensive training and capacity building programs for our officers and investing in technology for surveillance and crime prevention will greatly enhance our capabilities in maintaining law and order.


“Effective intelligence gathering mechanisms are critical for proactive crime prevention. We must establish robust systems to gather and analyze intelligence, enabling us to stay one step ahead of criminals. Strengthening cooperation between the police and the judiciary is also essential to ensure the smooth administration of justice. Gaidam stressed.


He pointed out that, several specific areas of concern require their immediate attention noting that they must establish a clear mission and vision for the police force, aligning our goals with the aspirations of the Nigerian people. We must also focus on strengthening police leadership and accountability, as these traits are vital for the efficient functioning of any law enforcement agency”. The minister noted
Gaidam emphasizes the need to establish mechanisms for monitoring police conduct to maintain high standards of professionalism and ethics through the use of body-worn cameras and dashboard cameras in operation vehicles adding that it will ensure that the rights and dignity of every citizen are respected at all times.


In his words, “We will not tolerate indiscipline within the police force, and discipline must be observed by all officers, regardless of rank or cadre. This platform serves as a crucial opportunity for fruitful discussions and the exchange of perspectives on formulating a robust working plan for the Nigeria Police. As someone who has served as a Governor and Chief Security Officer of one of the most embattled states affected by Boko Haram for over a decade, I understand the urgent need for police reform by global best practices in policing to ensure public safety.”
The Minister of State, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim stated that the presentation of the Inspector General of Police was holistic and forward-looking which will be very helpful as the Ministry crafts a way forward towards achieving renewed hope policing agenda of Mr. President which is very ambitious. Working together as partners in progress would enable us to achieve it.


On community policing, she pointed out that it aligns with the thought of the Ministers which is critical and everyone must key in with it to enable increased confidence of the citizens in policing as we are working for them, which requires a lot of reforms and cooperation of the stakeholders. Intelligence-driven policing is not negotiable and the police force must be seen as a technology-driven organization this requires ambitious investment to implement. Imaan stressed.


In his presentation, the Ag. Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun congratulated the Ministers for their appointment adding that the entire police force is excited about the choice of Mr. President and has confidence that the day ahead would be very good for Nigerians.
He briefed the Ministers on general operations, challenges, and general internal situation in the country as well as presented a template for the Ministry to generate policies for the police ecosystem in the country,

This underscores the importance placed on dignity of labor. And therefore it serves as an occasion for the sons and daughters of Oka land to come together to discuss the path forward in advancing the course of the land bringing about the socioeconomic development of Oka land. 


Oka land is known to be a land of honorable men, a land where great men have emerged contributing to national development even at international scale sons and daughters of Oka land have been recognized for their impactful contribution to the growth socially, economically of the nation 


So it is the honor of Dr. Benard Omoyeni to be counted worthy of this award listed among the dignitaries, the sons and daughters of Oka land that are recognized for their contribution to the growth and development of the land 


In his response at the event Dr. Benard Omoyeni expressed his gratitude to GOD. and to the planning committee, and to HRM Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye for counting him worthy for the award for recognizing his modest contribution to the educational development of Oka land, and by extension socio-economic emancipation of the people.


It's an award that is so much cherished and will act as booster motivating him to even do more. he was quick to recall the role HRM has played in supporting the Julius Omoyeni Foundation for Educational Development by achieving its set objectives and goals 


Julius Omoyeni Foundation has immensely been supported by Palmadex Group by partnering, funding the scholarship funding requirements.

Another feather is added to Palmadex Group with the honor conferred on the MD/CEO of Palmadex Group, Dr. Benard Adedotun Omoyeni as recipient of the Okarufe Meritorious Service Award, by His Royal Majesty the Olubaka of Oka land, Oba Dr. Yusuf Adebori Adeleye OON.


Dr. Benard was among the list of dignitaries honored with the award from Okarufe during the last Oka Day festival celebration early August. 


The award is in recognition of his service to the development of Oka land. The award came at a time that the recognition is judged to be well deserving, given the roles Dr. Benard has been playing in the socio economic development of his community. 


Dr. Benard was recognized for the scholarship his foundation, the Julius Omoyeni Foundation for Educational Development ( JOFEDEV) has been giving to Oka students since 2017.


So this year provides the opportunity for his service to be recognized, as he was among the dignitaries of the sons and daughters of Oka land that was recognized at that auspicious occasion of Oka day festival 2023. 


Among the list of dignitaries that were recognized are His Eminence Most Reverend ( Dr.) Jude Ayodeji Arogundade, the Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Senator (Prof) Borrofice Ajayi OON, General (Dr.) Jones Arowobofa CFR, the former chief of staff to the former president Goodluck Jonathan, and Prof Deji Gbore, the Vice Chancellor of Sam Maris University, Akugba Akoko.
Others include Victor Ologunaye, founder of Dekure Foundation. ROD Dawodu, Minority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adejere Adeogun, Member House of Representative, Hon. Akogun Olugbenga Omole among other dignitaries honoured 


In the list were 39 dignitaries that were honored with the award in different categories.

Given this award, Palmadex has again been recognised the umpteenth time this year for its contribution to the socio-economic development of the nation.


In the speech of HRM Oba Dr. Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, Dr. Benard was recognized for his commitment and tireless sacrifice to the educational development of Oka land. 


The Kabiyesi recalled the year 2017 when the Julius Omoyeni Foundation for Educational Development was inaugurated, incidentally, he was there to perform the inauguration and has watched the foundation year in year out maintain the quality of its operation by sustaining the scholarship he has been giving to students from Oka land. Annually over 30 students enjoy that scholarship for the 7th year running. 


This is considered a feat that needs to be recognized given the impact of that on the socio-economic development of the land.

So for that singular act of sacrifice, that singular act of giving back to the community, Dr. Benard, the MD/CEO of Palmadex was recognized.

Oka Day festival is an annual festival that holds first Saturday of August aggregating all the sons and daughter of Oka from all walks of life, both locally and in diaspora. They come home to celebrate the advent of New Yam.

Chinecherem Promise Ibeh, a bright girl hailing from Umunneochi local government area in Abia state, who attained an impressive score of 9As in her West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), has reportedly passed away.

A viral funeral announcement for Chinecherem, went viral and ignited a firestorm of heartache and intense feelings on social media platforms.

Ofoke Bright Ikenna, one of the individuals who shared the story, boldly asserted that the sinister hand behind Chinecherem’s premature end was none other than her stepmother, consumed by a venomous blend of jealousy and envy.

According to Ikenna, the root of this heinous act was Chinecherem’s triumph in securing a coveted scholarship to study in the UK, a success that seemingly stoked the stepmother’s resentment to fatal extremes.

Shockingly, Ikenna alleged that the stepmother broke her silence, admitting to the chilling act of poisoning that snuffed out Chinecherem’s young life.

Ikenna wrote;

“An exceptionally brilliant girl child from Abia state has been k1LLed by her stepmother out of jealousy and envy. The stepmother has since confessed that she poisoned her to death.

“Chinecherem got 9As in Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SSCE) and subsequently won a scholarship to study Software Engineering at a UK university. May her soul rest in peace.”

Others who shared the story, also echoed the grim narrative, weaving a web of suspicion around the notion that Chinecherem’s demise was no accident, but rather a meticulously orchestrated poisoning.
