Trust me, Tinubu really worked make I no lie. He also employed graduate teachers. He built a market then close to our school and also built a Millenium school not too far from our school. All these happened in Alimosho Local Govt. Yes, Lagos is better than all other states in Nigeria. I provided the link, don't be lazy and go through it your self.
Lagos is the smallest state in Nigeria with a population of over 20 million people from every state in Nigeria. These 20 million people are stressing the limited resources of state that was meant to only accommodate 10 million. This influx of Nigerians is because of the prosperous economic Atmosphere Tinubu created when he was governor, something No other state including FCT has been able to accomplish.
And Yes again, Lagos generates more than 70% into the Fgs purse. Without Lagos many of your states should have declared bankruptcy Some of you just like saying nonsense. Tinubu built which Lagos? Lagos that has been taking influx of others since 1902. So tinubu build famous 3rd mainland bridge of Eko bridge? Only refurbished 4 schools throughout his tenure. mrvitalis: Fashola is myopic in his reasoning .. and the job or economic boom is only but temporary let's check it
350 billion was used to build second Niger bridge ...how many people was employed permanently by that contract I can boldly tell you not more than 200 , contract staff not more than 10,000
If you gave 1 billion each to manufacturer in that area that focus on import substitution or exportable products ...you would have 350 multi billion factories
Let's take a garment factory for exam ..a 1 billion Naira garment factory can easily ... easily employ 2000 permanently and pay them over 80k per month ...their tax would be 12k say worse case 8k ...that's 16 million revenue from that business alone add profit tax you have around 50 million guaranteed revenue for government ...say you have around 20 garment factory funded and say 15 survive that's 750 million revenue guaranteed and 30,000 people permanently employed and reducing pressure on dollar demand for import
330 billion left
1 billion can build you four 50,000 capacity poultry farm ...you can look for the biggest poultry farmers and invest 1 billion each for 50 people ...or you can ask smaller farmers to form cooperatives ...do you know the effect this would have on our food security ? That's 50 billion ..this can create 2000 permanent jobs
We can do the same for fish farmers ...say 50 billion and create 3000 permanent jobs
Buying fishing trawlers for $1 million dollars and giving them to local fishermen would create employment ...50 billion can buy minimum of 75 trawlers...each can employ 15 people ...that's over a thousand people permanently ...
This is just less than half of that money used for that bridge ..half ooh ...
Doing the above n building bridge which would grow the economy more ? No dey mind this fashola supporter. I dare say that fashola knows nothing about how to grow a developing economy. People just follow those they love without scrutinising if such person made sense. |

Politics › Re: Peter Obi Will Do Well As A Minister Of Economy – Ned Nwoko by dejol88: 12:04pm On Jun 21, 2022 |
AsomArchitectNG: I do not think people realize how important 2023 is. Let me explain. Last year Nigeria made: 970.3billion from oil 1.6-Trillion from non-oil taxs (more revenue from this than oil) 2.8-Trillion from a cumulative of other sources. In total the country brought in 5.5 Trillion in revenue..
Then it gets crazy from here
Out of that 5.5-Trillion revenue, 4.2-Trillion was spent on servicing (repaying) debts from January to November. So what is left after paying debts is 1.3-Trillion. Which, as a matter of fact; means that what is left after repaying what we owe is not enough to run the country... Because in the 2021 national budget, the nation needs to run on a total of 13.57-Trillion. So since we just have 1.3-Trillion left, an extra 12.27-Trillion is needed.
Where do we get it? Yes, you guessed right right - we borrowed. In 2021 Nigeria spent 12.56-Trillion - most of which were borrowed money spent on things that do not bring money back (salary, fuel subsidy, looting, etc.) So if Nigeria was a man who makes 100k a month, he borrows 5million every month to pay for light bill, and running of the house. See the picture now? Scary isn't it? The excess crude oil account (which is like our savings) is almost empty.
So not only does this man borrows like a craze person, he has no savings for emergencies (like if his boss decides not to pay salary) Anyways, the finance minister thinks we're doing alright. That what we have is a revenue problem - and not a debt problem and if we make more we would be alright (this is why they're taxing everything) of course, she could be lying...but she might be right too. The rule is we should never borrow more than 40% of our GDP. We are at 36.9% 3.2% more and all the alarm bells goes off Now - imagine if our revenue keeps dropping, and the debts keeps increasing. And one day - voom - 3.2% crossed!!
We need a new leadership style and i think if Peter obi is given a chance all this mess can be resolved. It's high time we boot these recycled old tyrrants that calls themselves leaders back to their cave. May God continue to bless you for explaining this in the simplest terms possible. Achilles881: You too much, running a country is like running a business, let's use car parts business as example, some parts in cars are easily affordable let's call them A and their failure rate is high but are sold with marginal gain, thus you need to sell more of it before your gain becomes reasonable, the other parts are few let's call them B but their failure rate is low, therefore demand for this parts are iow but are sold with substantial gain, so what I noticed was that dealers stocked the parts A more cause of the demand, by doing this the generate a high amount of turnover and before you know it their capital becomes huge, parts B sales comes once in a while and even though you make huge gain selling one, you only use it to hold onto customers and prove the depth of your stock. A biginner who starts with parts B hardly succeeds, and ends borrowing money to even feed, but your chances of making it with parts A is high, Buhari and Apc started with parts B, gigantic mega projects with no fund to back it up, yes there's gain in it when finished but starting with small, small investment on human resources, investment in agriculture backed up by small scale industries that ultimately transforms into huge industries ie parts A yield small, small gain that coalesce to build gigantic infrastructures ie parts B, this way is easier because in other to climb an upstair you follow small, small steps, you don't jump to the top floor it's a very difficult task to accomplish no matter your strength. May God bless you. No better way to explain it, thanks |

thebosstrevor1: No.
You can see that government is taxing the working class so that they can pay back the loans, even though it is ridiculously high, that is the only option in a country that produces nothing Since it can’t payback itself , isn’t such policy stupid? The government now resort to over taxing thereby placing enormous burden on her citizens. Even the tax collected can’t pay back this loan and would require FG to take from little earnings from oil to meet loan obligations. If the government had prioritise borrowing on infrastructure that can pay back itself , that would have made sense. This government is not thinking at all. My Chinese friend once told me that Nigeria government is stupid, and I agree totally. |
Politics › Re: Peter Obi: Can You Grow An Economy By Saving Money? by dejol88: 8:34am On Jun 16, 2022 |
thebosstrevor1: So are loans not redirect into infrastructures.
Loans sponsored the airports, power plants, railways, repairs of roads that the present government is carrying out.
Nigerians need social intervention, without social intervention many people will be sent down the poverty line, i believe there is nothing bad in that.
On the issue of cutting cost of the national assembly, i think it is easier to write on paper about cutting cost but in reality, the house aren't earning much as claimed by the press. Many of the money people claim they receive they don't have access to them, most of these money are meant for projects in their communities, so how then do you expect the people to be represented on the federal level Simple question, can loans used to fund the present railway repay back itself? |
Politics › Re: Peter Obi: Can You Grow An Economy By Saving Money? by dejol88: 8:08pm On Jun 15, 2022 |
Perfectbeing: True.
But we do need railway. Railways and trains would be needed when the Government decides to end fuel subsidy. Use of trains cannot be over emphasised. Tell me any developed country that doesn't have a working railway.
And for agriculture, the Government first need to improve it's security. Any policy the Government takes on agriculture will be useless if the farmers are not secured in the farmland.
Buhari's government have invested the most in agriculture, but we can't see the output cos our farmers are getting killed by bandits.... For ever farmer that is killed, so is 100 of bags of rice or beans or maize or onions. Tell that to those who are uneducated. We don’t need railway everywhere at the moment because we lack resources to finance it. We should focus on how to increase our wealth to reduce poverty. Buhari strategy was designed to fail. He has nothing to offer. Read my thread when I was in Nigeria, it is because of is re-election I left. We the youth caused it and if we make same mistakes again, it is over for this generation. Question is when signing trade deals, why can’t we push our products for export and try to increase output here in Nigeria. All they do is to travel without impact. We can do a lot in agriculture , we can rebuild our educational system such that we can be able to export talent to the world taking a leaf from India this will increase Nigeria remittances. We don’t railway system all over the country at the moment in my opinion, rather build to targets areas where we make product for export. For example, why can’t we look into areas like National Assembly where income isn’t generated and see how much we can cut from their budget likewise the the executive. Also redirect loans into infrastructure that can pay back itself .Do away with the social intervention by buhari administration and direct the cash into building the 1500mw of power station. |
