Kobicove:I don't think it was public. What is more unprofessional though is for a Commissioner to be disclosing a Governor's private moment in public. Adults must be able to keep their mouths shut about certain things. |
iWasNotHere:Ogun State Governor actually seems to be very close to the President. You rarely see the President go anywhere in Nigeria without the Governor somewhere behind him. Also, a senior politician like Mr Adeleke will not go through Mr Abiodun by mistake. He probably knows or was told the Ogun State government is the best person to use as the point man. |
Nearly $6 billion in May alone is incredible. At this rate, we could hit total reserve of $45 - $50 billion by the end of 2025, something Nigeria has not seen in a long time. Mr Tinubu has grown the reserve from $4 billion when he took over to more than $30 billion now - in just 2 years. And yet, some people want to change this government for a gang of desperados in 2027. Ask them why, they say '...it is a yoruba government'. Smh So, if Nigeria is doing well, only Yoruba people will enjoy it. |
My Gtb card didn't work over the weekend. Tried Zenith card, same problem. Are we supposed to get new bank cards, or the thing has not started operating. |
Mr Obi has effectively shot the door on becoming a VP candidate to a Northern presidential candidate. There is no coming back from this. This undiplomatic statement also suggests to me that Mr Obi is intentionally signalling that he will not participate in ADC primary. This is the beginning of the end of Mr Obi's involvement with ADC. |
Just building a flashy project that lacks a sound business case is bound to fail. The place is remote with the nearest airport being a few hours away. Yet, it was planned with the expectation that it would attract visitors from all over Nigeria, and West Africa. Please why would someone leave Lagos for example, spend 2 hours to get to a Lagos airport, fly may be an hour to Calabar, then get into a car for another 2 hrs or more of road travel on an average road, to get to Obudu ![]() For leisure and shopping? That you can't get in Lagos, or any other big city abi? With the way Nigerian airlines cancel flights incessantly, Lagos to Obudu could easily be a 2 day journey. The state's successor Governors are right not to pour more money down the drain. |
Great. Mr Tinubu, please double down on reforms. Deepen regional administration. From next year's budget, allocate substantial allocations to the new regional authorities. Let each region prioritise their spending to suit their region. The last thing this country needs in 2027 is for a gang of superbly corrupt, narcissistic, self centred people to take over the reigns of power. |
I almost always ask for AC to be switched off. I prefer the air from outside even if that too is polluted. I find the air inside some of those cars impossible to breath in. Also breathing the same recirculating air, in a closed off small cubicle, as a stranger whose state of health I know nothing of scares me. Covid, and tuberculosis, always at the back of my mind. My fears are probably irrational, but I prefer that kind of irrationality. |
I have never voted in Nigeria, nor been particularly interested in elections in the past. But by God's grace I will be encouraging everyone around me to vote to re-elect Mr Tinubu. That's because the prospect of a new government that will reverse the several good policies of this government and set us back another 15 to 20 years scares me. |
israelmao:So because he was against it 13 years before his election, he should never have been in favour of removal for the rest of his life? If he was wrong to oppose it in 2015, he was wrong to change his mind about it in 2023? |
amaridigital:Great questions. Should be easy for the ADC people to answer if they are serious about getting into power. |
The 'subsidy' you refer to that Italian government pay to people who need help is taken from the high taxes that other Italians pay, plus money that the Italian government continue to borrow on a monthly basis. You forgot to tell us that Italy has the highest debt in Europe, about 3 trillion euros. That puts the country's debt-to-gdp ratio at around 130%. The 3rd or 4th highest in the world. The country is almost bankrupt. There you go...that is where uncontrolled government spending (subsidy) gets you. When you borrow to subsidise the lifestyle of your citizens, you end up on the verge of bankruptcy, like Nigeria was in 2022. Yet, Italy is the example is you want Nigeria to follow? |
watchindelta:Absolute nonesense. You did not tell us which country you live in where 'government subsidise nearly everything but no problem to the country.' Mention the country na. Even Saudi Arabia has stopped 'subsidising everything'. You think you are the only one that has lived abroad. You are either trying to deceive people or you don't understand how the country you live in work. I lived in the UK, my income (salary) tax plus Council tax was over 40% of my salary every month. So, if I went to a hospital that was free in the UK, it meant the government was subsidising the hospital?. Absolutely not. It simply meant I had paid for the 'free' hospital through the very high tax I was paying. You say people pay taxes in Nigeria, hence the government should provide subsidised services. Which tax really. My tax in Nigeria is ...erm, less than 2% of my income (tax people please no come harass me o - you people don't demand for tax ). Yet, you want the government to wave a magic wand and provide Nigerian citizens with a fabulous subsidised lifestyle. Some of the richest countries in the world have some of the highest personal income taxes too. Personal income tax in Japan, Finland, Austria etc are around 50%. In Sweden, it is 52%. In Ivory Coast, the most organised country in West Africa, personal income tax is over 60%, the highest in the world. So you can see there is some correlation between high government tax revenue and development. Will Nigerians agree to pay 40% of their total monthly income in tax? And remember many of those developed countries have been collecting taxes from their citizens for over 200 years which they have used to build their country. Yet, in 2025, the vast majority of Nigerians still pay zero tax, yet you want to compare Nigeria to those countries. As for electricity, I get up to 22 hours a day consistently, and I am not even in Zone A, or whatever they call it. While it is safe to say my experience is not replicated across the country, there clearly appears to be manifest improvement in many areas, and I hope with time, every part of the country will share in that experience. |
Very good simple question. I watch a few interviews by Mr Osinbaloye of Channels, and just shake my head at the lacklustre questions Nigerian journalists put to politicians. He rarely asks simple, pin-pointed, and obvious questions that will compel politicians who promise heaven on earth if elected to tell us what they will do exactly. Instead, he goes round in circles before finally asking a muddled and convoluted question that gives the interviewee an opportunity to say a lot without saying anything tangible. Journalists should ask these politicians simple questions that the man on the street will understand, like, 'Mr so and so, this is your opportunity...tell Nigerians exactly what you will do to bring down the price of petrol. Will you reintroduce subsidy?' How will you bring down the price of rice and bread? These are the things that concern the man on the street. |
Fantastic. Please I beg Nigerians, as far as the economy is concerned, we are finally on the right track for the first time in several decades. Don't let us throw this away by changing this government prematurely. By maintaining financial discipline, Mr Tinubu's government is doing all the right things. It would be a lot easier to use the nearly $40 billion dollar foreign reserve to import subsidised rice on a massive scale and crash the price to below N20,000 per bag, but that would be a false economy. The sort of thing we had under Mr Jonathan. Instead, Mr Tinubu is not chasing popularity but doing now what will set Nigeria up for greatness in the future, long after he has left office. Who would have thought even 10 years ago, that Naira could one day NOT REACT NEGATIVELY when crude oil price falls. That means our economy is finally decoupling from crude oil price. Under Mr Tinubu, our non-oil exports is growing exponentially. Internally generated revenues are breaking records quarter after quarter, and imports are thankfully reducing, which means we are sending less of our money to China. THIS IS ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION. The same diversification all Nigerian governments have been desiring since the early 1970's but never achieved. I keep saying it, and I will repeat it again, Mr Tinubu is the best President Nigeria has had since independence nearly 65 years ago. Economic development is phase by phase. A strong foundation phase, which has eluded this country for decades, is what Mr Tinubu's government is now putting in place. The next phase will be building on that foundation, and that may take another 3 or 5 years, during which things will still look tough. But we have to stick with it. There is no other credible alternative. If we change the government in 2027, a new government will throw the current gains away and try to please people by introducing populist economic policies that will set us back another 20 years or more. Let us stick with the current progression. There is no gain without pain. The good times will come. |
That's 1 million times people have agreed with him. Quite an achievement actually. |
Mr Eyitayo, pdp Governorship candidate who was roundly beaten by Mr Akeredolu in 2 previous governorship elections has been Mr Atiku's lawyer for a long time. Infact, his Chambers is in Yola, Adamawa. He only returns to Ondo State close to election period, and a few times every year. With his boss, Mr Atiku, having moved to ADC, Mr Eyitayo has no choice than to move with him, particularly as PDP is on very shaky grounds. Mr Agboola was deputy Governor to deceased Ondo State Governor, Mr Akeredolu. In the lead up to what should have been their 2nd term, he fell out with the Governor and contested under another party and was roundly defeated by Mr Akeredolu. He now has very little Electoral value. Mr Eyitayo would have had a chance as PDP Governorship candidate in 2028 because the Governorship will be zoned to his zone. But with PDP not being sure of itself, he had no choice but to decamp to join his boss in ADC. In the 2 elections he contested and lost under PDP, he performed creditably. But his jumping ship to ADC will not help Mr Atiku because the Ondo state Governorship election is in 2028, not 2027. |
helinues:I wonder o. When the Presidency responds to their attacks, they'll start screaming that the government is doing politics instead of governing ![]() The want the sole and exclusive right to criticise. Very funny. |
Mr Atiku fight corruption ke ![]() That is a new one in hoodwinkology. One thing is now certain, 2027 will likely be the dirtiest election in the history of Nigeria. No side will hold back from personal attacks. |
For international players, it is the pull of London, often rated the greatest city in the world, may be alongside New York. There is a reason London receives more international visitors than Paris, and New York Whether it is culture, entertainment, food, diversity, international banking and Finance, education, London ranks between no 1 and no 3 in each category compared to any other city in the world. It is no surprise that most foreign players prefer to play for a London team than play in small regional cities like Liverpool or Newcastle. And these 2 places have terrible winter weather - cold and rainy. And Arsenal is the biggest team in London. Chelsea has been more successful in the past 15 years or so, but in the context of London, Arsenal is bigger. London is to the UK, what Lagos is to Nigeria. It is where things are happening. Glamour, music, fashion etc For people living in Nigeria, Liverpool, Newcastle are like Benin city, Warri, or Owerri. Not even Port Harcourt or Abuja. |
Amitex:So if someone occupies a Ministerial position for 8 years and did nothing, it is ok as long as efcc has not accused them of stealing ![]() Nigeria's matter no be small thing o. May be Mr Aregbesola left a lasting legacy in the role that I am not aware of. Perhaps you can remind me. |
This young minister transformed passport processing within and outside Nigeria. He has also tranformed the travel experience for those travelling to and from abroad through the Murtala Muhammed Airport. He did these and more in a little over a year. Mr Aregbesola was the Minister in that same ministry for 8 years when Nigerians went through hell to get a passport or renew one. 8 years o. Can you believe that some Nigerians now believe Mr Aregbesola will be one of Nigeria's saviours if only they can just vote in ADC in 2027. Also, instead of Minister Umahi, they prefer Minister Dino Melaye. ![]() |
The funny thing is, many of the politicians in ADC have been in power in one shape or another at State or federal level over the past 30 years or more and they did nothing. Now, some of the common people who have been clamouring for progress for a long time are the same people saying they want the failed politicians to return to power ![]() It's incredible. |
And some want us to change all this progress in 2027 for a conglomerate of crooks who will reverse everything back to chop I chop politics and domination by a certain ethnic group. To think that some Southerners plan to line up in the sun in 2027 to vote for another perpetuation of domination is just unbelievable. You ask them why, they have no reason other than this is a Yoruba government. You would rather not have Ojulari who is turning around NNPC just because he is Yoruba? You would rather not have the minister of Interior who has turned around passport processing at home and abroad, and turned Murtala Muhammed Airport to a spectacle of some sort because he is Yoruba? You would rather not have the recent historic tax laws because the man who led the committee is Yoruba? How about the chap at FIRS who is delivering unprecedented revenues to the federation. You don't value the revenues that is pouring into states because the man heading FIRS is Yoruba? You would prefer that the Minister of mineral resources who is tranforming a perpetually moribund ministry not to be Yoruba. Are other performers like Mr Umahi, the Minister for Aviation, and several others from various parts of the country not worthy. All the good progress these people are making, are they to the benefit of just Yoruba people. In 2027, you want these positions to be filled by people from a certain part of the country who have predominantly occupied these positions for over 40 years and done nothing. These are the people you want to return in 2027 abi. And you are a Southerner who claims to want the country to progress? Ok o. |
I.e - we know Mr Atiku will win the primaries I.e - but let's pretend and claim that we will support Obi if he wins I.e - so that when (not if) Mr Obi loses, he will not leave ADC But we all know that, the northern owners of ADC planned Mr Atiku's victory long before Mr Obi was even brought into the picture. The only person who doesn't know how the ADC primary will end is Mr Obi because the other people are politically much smarter than him. The only person not aware of the plan is Mr Obi. |
I didn't see up to 40 people there. Getting out of a vehicle, waiving, like he was waiving to a large crowd. Deceiving himself. |
Most days, I get over 22 hours of electricity. There are days when it only goes off for about 5 mins during the entire day. And I am not even in Band A. I don't even think about electricity anymore. I know it is not the same across the country. |
Most Nigerians shout corruption only if the person involved is not from their tribe, region, political party etc If the alleged fraudster is from any of of tge above, they will suddenly no longer be interested in ending corruption but instead turn against the person who reveals the corruption. See all of them above attacking Mr Wike, instead of clamouring for the release of the NDDC report. |
Why do black people venerate whites. Does trump feed Nigeria? What will his invitation do. As the South African President found, Mr Trump only invites African Presidents to humiliate them. The former Prime Minister of Holland who is now the Head of NATO was heard calling him 'daddy' at a NATO gathering 2 weeks ago. Unless you bow to his demands, he will humiliate you. So absolutely, even if invited, the Nigerian President should find a reason not to meet Mr Trump. |
So if Nigerian government sends 10 doctors to Saint Lucia, it is the end of the world for Nigerians? At less than 200,000, the population of St Lucia is less than the population of Iyana Ipaja So even 5 extra doctors will make a big difference to them, whilst 5 less doctors will have zero impact on Nigeria. The UK sends aid worth around £200 million to Nigeria every year, and the US almost $700 million per year before Trump. Do you know how many people in the UK and US who can't afford food, who rely on charity for clothes, or who are homeless. Have those countries refused to send aid to Nigeria despite the fact that tens of thousands of their own citizens are poorer than Nigerians? |
A bailiff steals too ![]() The deep immoral depth Nigeria has got itself into no be small thing o. |
aspabay:It was padi padi corruption stuff na. And Mr Atiku who now wants to 'rescue' Nigeria is a grand master in underselling Nigerian assets to his friends and cronies. As Vice President, he was in charge of privatisation. Under him, many large government corporations were sold off at give away prices to dem dem. More that 20 years later, online ADC supporters, many of who were probably still babies when Mr Atiku was Vice President, are now telling us he is the messiah Nigeria has been waiting for. You just have to smile and shake your head in wonderment. |
