Most reasonable people would give Mr Obi a benefit of the doubt, and put it down to an unintended error or slip of the tongue. However, if it was Mr Tinubu that made a similar error, not one single follower of Mr Obi will acknowledge that any human can suffer a slip of the tongue. Instead, they would be all over social media maligning the President for 'lying'. |
I don't know anything about this company, but I am impressed that the other shareholders acted with nobility to honour a man who must have made a lasting impression with his contributions to the growth of the company. It is very rare in Nigeria for shareholders to do things like this - ie with maturity and hopefully without rancour. Usually you'll have some shareholders asking how about all the money he has made from the company over the years, how about this, how about that. |
Mr Fayemi can't deliver 15,000 votes in Ekiti. No one outside Ekiti reckons with him in the South West. He can't deliver 600 votes in Osun. He can't deliver 4,000 votes in Ondo (Ondo and Ekiti share a long political history) He can't deliver 400 votes in Ogun. He cant deliver 500 votes in Oyo. He can't deliver 1,500 votes in Lagos. It is laughable that people outside the SW think Mr Fayemi is a big fish. |
Yesterday, they told us someone broke his arm. Nigerians didn't care. Today, they are pushing another story. Most Nigerians still won't care. A so-called human rights activists is now crying over being detained with other suspects. Are those suspects not humans? You're a human rights activists, but you don't want to be detained with other humans ![]() It begs the question whether he is a genuine or fake activist. Many of the so-called activists actually want to be detained, so they can send a ' persecution report' to the foreign NGOs that send them dollars. The way this man talks anyhow, you would know he has been wishing to be arrestrd for over a year. |
The gap between the rich and the poor is very wide in most purely capitalist countries. It is emblematic of the free market economic model. 1% of Americans own about 30% of the wealth of the country. 2% of Americans own 50% of the wealth of the country. That is why there is so much wealth in America, just as there is extreme poverty. The top 10% of the Indian population own about 80% of the country's wealth. The statistics are similar for Brazil. Scandinavian countries are doing a better job at keeping income inequality at a reasonable level. |
The court can do him for contempt of court, and send him to prison for a few days to start with. If he repeats the contempt, then send him to 30 days in prison. The man is arrogant and thinks he is the only one who has the answers to all of Nigeria's problems. Yet, as the MD of Volkswagen Nigeria, he ruined the company into bankruptcy. When a matter is in court, it is subjudice. The whole world accepts that concept, except this man and a few others like him. Very obnoxious character. |
SmartPolician:They can't boot out Mr Tinubu. By any means necessary, they'll not be allowed back in. |
True. The guy also said Kano (I think) to Maiduguri road is more than 500 kilometres, and that when it was constructed, no one in the South accused the federal government of ignoring the South despite the fact that there is no road anywhere in Southern Nigeria that is as l9ng as that road to maiduguri. He wondered why the so-called Northern leaders are complaining bitterly about the coastal road from Lagos - Calabar. He also said the Sokoto to Badagry road which Mr Tinubu's government is also constructing is longer than the Lagos to Calabar coastal road, but the 'angry' Northern leaders stylishly never say anything about the Sokoto road. The allegations of concentrating projects in the South is just a bogus claim to rouse their populace against a President from the South who they can't control. |
Highly unlikely the Ondo one will materialise. With 4 or 5 large ports in existence or planned for construction between Lagos and Ogun, and with Ondo being a very short distance away (Olokola - the proposed site of Dangote ports is no more than 10 km from Ondo), investors will think twice about citing another port in Ondo. At least for now. The next big ports should be in places like Bayelsa, Delta, Akwa Ibom. Expansion of Onne should be on the cards. |
Seems APC has finally 'reached out to them' ![]() Abi were these not the same state Chairmen we were told agreed to make ADC Mr Atiku's SPV? It seems this ADC will end up entangled in all sorts of litigation with no guarantee it will be a usable SPV. |
That means no peace in PDP for now. If Mr Wike insists that the party must recognise the South South zonal conference and recognise the South South National Vice Chairman, then the fire on the mountain will continue to burn. |
This is the family some people are clamouring that Mr Obi should partner with to contest for presidency. They know the history of this family, but because of 2027, they're quick to overlook the character of a family they hated with a passion until a few weeks ago. Suddenly the head of that family is now the best thing since slice bread. They want him to team up with Mr Obi...just out of desperation. Unbelievable. |
How is it Atalanta's business to insist the offer must come from a 'super top club'. If a 2nd league club in England or any country is willing to pay Atalanta's price, why should Atalanta say no because the buying club is not of a standard that Atalanta wants. |
So much wealth is being created through the stock market. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of Nigerians don't participate because they don't know it exists, or don't know how it operates, or don't have the money to buy shares, or are afraid the prices will fall again. Personally, even though nothing goes up forever, I do believe the Nigerian stock market is on a bull run for the next several years. It will inevitably fall a little here and there but it will bounce back to push ahead again, and again. Mr Tinubu's reforms have unshackled the Nigerian economy in a way Nigeria has not seen in nearly 65 years of independence. The economy is only just starting. |
Mr Tinubu will win at least 30% in most Northern states. And Southern Governors will ensure Mr Atiku's ADC does not get up to 15% in any Southern States. Can anyone please tell me how ADC will win 10% in Lagos,Oyo, Cross river, Rivers, Edo, Ondo, Delta, Ekiti, Imo, Enugu, Abia etc Especially if Mr Atiku is their presidential candidate. |
Lagos wants to avoid news of Chairmen appointing 200 advisers like it happens in some States. It is either that, or the Governor wants to have a say on who is appointed in order to ensure appointments are inclusive so that those who l9st out in the primaries can also be included. This makes sense. It may even be a Governor - Aso Rock collabo to ensure peace reigns at the local level. 2027 machinations. |
Ewe Akintola. Back in the day, when you are bruised from playing football, your friends will grab a handful of that ewe, mash them between the palms and drip the resulting fluid on the injury. I think it made such bruises heal quicker. Can you imagine ajebo indomie generation going through that ![]() Is the plant still around. It was everywhere back in the day. |
Yesterday, riots broke out in Angola, over increase in fuel price as their government withdraws fuel subsidy. 4 people were killed during the riots. As one of the largest crude oil producers in Africa, Angola's government and politicians have been spending lavishly in recent years, while subsidising all sorts of things to keep it's citizens 'happy'. Infact, Luanda, the capital of Angola is more expensive than London or Paris. Such is the level of petro-dollar spending in the country in recent years. Now, their chicken is coming home to roost. The government is in massive debt. The Angola government can't afford most subsidies anymore. Citizens who thought the fake subsidised life will continue forever are in shock that it will have to stop. ![]() The Op, along with many Nigerians, just refuse to face reality. For a long time to come, no Nigerian government will reverse fuel subsidy, if ever. Nor will another Nigerian government reintroduce subsidised dollar exchange rate. Nigeria simply can't afford it. It is time for Nigerias to roll up their sleeves and work. The government should only help the poorest. Able bodied people have to find their own way out. |
I think the guy has harmed his political prospects at the national level. As deputy speaker, he has achieved considerable success and would have been in a leading position to vie for a higher office in the future. However, the stubbornness with which he pushed the highly unpopular indigenisation bill has and will continue to put him under the spotlight for some time to come. He is unlikely to be trusted for a higher office at the national level. At least not until his indigenisation misadventure is forgotten by people. |
Their money, their decision. Why is Africa the only continent always dependent on feeding bottles from other countries. What is $9 million to a country like Nigeria. The problem is mismanagement and corruption. We are at a point now where Nigeria should reject most handouts from foreign countries. They are instruments of control. |
Great. The stress the petrol marketers unleashed on Nigeria in the last 10 years or so is unforgettable. Anything to disrupt their greed and stranglehold on long suffering motorists is welcome. I hope someone will do same thing in other sectors. Imagine rice that was sold last month for around N70,000 per bag has been hijacked by marketers mopping rice from markets to store only to start selling the same thing for N100,000 after they created the scarcity. A supplement sold on Amazon for $11 is sold on Jumia for N34,000. How? Pure greed everywhere. And then they turn around to blame the government. |
Who is the governor of that state. I always confuse Aba and Abia. |
What is surprising is that the UK is only a few hundred billion from catching up with Japan, and is around $600 billion ahead of France. I have always wondered how the UK has such high GDP. These days, you can hardly find anything anywhere that is is 'Made in England' or 'Made in the UK',yet its GDPis nearly 20% more than France. It is quite an achievement. However, despite a high GDP, it has the most complaining people on planet earth ![]() If you check you tube, you would think it is worse than Somalia the way people there whinge non stop. |
I can only guess that the Senate majority leader has raised his discontent with Mr Akpabio privately several times. How can you lead a Senate and not consult with your co-leaders on important administrative issues. And then when the man voices out his frustration you tell him to sit down Poor temperament. You have been a legislator and 2 time Governor. What is the relevance of that to you not consulting with other officers. |
Nonsense and meaningless information. Are all pots of jollof the same from household to household. |
He talks so unintelligent. It is incredible how people like this rise to the top to become a Governor or Minister in Nigeria. They even added fake noise to the video to make it sound like there were several thousand roused supporters there ![]() |
The French finally lost several of their pupet African countries. Now they want to continue their colonial propaganda and manipulations through the media. It won't work. |
When you consider several indices, the improvements are rolling in day by day, month by month. No country has ever reversed nearly 65 years of poor management in 2 years. Mr Tinubu is doing very well. The only thing is, I don't know if there are effective solutions to adequately combat the poverty affecting tens of millions. The government just has to start somewhere. They need to revive the social payments to those who are in most need. One thing is certain though, Nigeria is on the up economically. |
Best President Nigeria has had since independence. As a corporate lawyer, many of my clients are buzzing with new projects and investments. Young, educated, and visionary- they're investing aggressively. If Mr Tinubu wins in 2017, and the government continues with the steady policy approach, then the reward for those investing now will be massive in a few years time. The downside of a wholesale free market economy is that many will not be able to participate and survive the cut throat free market economy that Nigeria is becoming. That is where the government needs to step in with assistance for those hampered by lack of necessary skills, old age, poor education etc However if you have the resources this is the best time to go out and invest. The economy is doing very well in some sectors ![]() |
Ttalk:I didn't even know they threatened the woman. Can you imagine. And the same people then turn around to say they are not given important positions. Mr Tinubu can never satisfy some people, whatever he does. It is not even about his appointments. They just hate him irrationally. Full stop. |
And the current CBN Governor has proved to be the most battle-proven CBN Governor in the history of Nigeria. And in my book, the best Nigerian CBN Governor by far. If you have an extreme currency crisis in, say, Gambia, Ghana, or any other African country, and you are the President of that country, who would your government call? - the current CBN Governor or Mr Sanusi, Mr Emefiele, or Mr Soludo. 100% of the time, that President will call the current Governor. That's because he has fought against the near-impossible task of stabilising a collapsing currency and won, in a way that most people did not think was possible. That is why he was crowned the Africa Central Bank Governor of the year. Anyone remember when people were betting that naira would go to N3000 to $1? Where are those people today. They have changed their tune to 'he was only appointed Governor because he is Yoruba.' Messrs Sanusi and Soludo were CBN Governors when Nigeria was making so much money from crude oil. It is easier to be a CBN Governor when there's so much money. |
How is the CBN Governor (SW) an important role, and the Minister of Works (SE) is not, despite the latter having a larger spending budget than the CBN. How is the Minister of Petroleum (SS) less important than the Minister of Finance (SW). For those of you who want so-called 'juicy' position for your people, the position of Minister of State for petroleum is far far juicier than Minister of Finance. The Minister of Defence and the Minister of State for defence are both from the North. Is anyone suggesting that these positions are less important than the position of Chairman of FIRS. Tgh rants are about Yorubas occupying the most important positions are misplaced. Under Mr Jonathan, the Minister of Finance was Igbo, the Minister of Petroleum, was Ijaw, (where Mr Jonathan is from, and she was married to an Igbo man). Several Igbo and Ijaws occupied some of the most important positions under Mr Jonathan. I didn't have a problem with that because, at times you just want the people you feel you can trust and work with best to occupy certain positions. Mr Emefiele that was appointed 'on merit', and not tribal basis, according to some of you, did he not turn out to be a disaster? So, tribe is not a determining factor for performance. You see Mr Trump also surrounding himself with people he believes he can trust, not necessarily people appointed on merit alone. The CBN Governor and the Minister for Finance worked with Mr Tinubu when he was Governor. He knew and trusted them. What then is wrong in putting them in 2 positions that are critical to the success of his economic policies? So the noise about Mr Tinubu only appointing Yorubas is nonsense. In any case, the available data doesn't support such claims. |
