Grant = free, non repayable money. So, creditors in New York or London will say to themselves, yep, that's a brilliant idea, let's lend $20 billion to an African country to do give away to its citizens. And this is a country where most of the people who receive the grant will divert it and not create a single job opportunity. And yet the government will be left with a $20 billion loan it has to repay. That was exactly what happened to the trillions of naira in agriculture loans that Mr Buhari gave out to farmers. Mr Obi's naivity is so serious, it makes one wonder. |
The cable said it has seen a letter addressed to Mr Wike. Well, that a letter is addressed to an individual is not proof that it was served on that person, or that a genuine attempt was made to serve him and he evaded service. Mr Wike has a legal background. For him to say on TV that he was not served notice of the meeting, he must have spotted a legal error on the part of the conveners of the meeting. It would be difficult to find and serve Mr Wike personally. They should have published the notice in national newspapers, assuming the PDP constitution provides for that option. Seems like another legal battle is loading. |
Probably the truck drivers. Nothing to do with Mr Dangote. |
Probably due to poor organisation. We are some of the most unorganised people on earth. Don't be surprised that the people that are supposed to man the booth missed their flight because someone in a government agency left it to the very last minute before arranging their flights. Nigerians are quick to say Nigerians are the most clever or brilliant people in the world. Erm...actually, no Nigerians are not. Nigerians mostly exude mediocrity wrapped in bravado, alarming disorganisation, dishonesty, topped with a large dose of greediness. |
Sokoto - Badagry (North) Lagos - Calabar (East) Lagos - Abuja (Middle belt & North) If these projects are completed, Lagos will become super connected to the North, Middle belt, and the East of the country. This level of connection combined with the proposed Lagos State airport, and the existing Murtala Muhammed International Airport will secure Lagos's economic dominance for the next 50 years. If the federal government then scheme their way into 'partnering' with the Lagos State government "to build an alternative bridge instead of spending over N3 trillion to repair the "very bad' 3rd mainland bridge', then Lagos will be in an even stronger position. I suspect the N3 trillion repair budget is a ruse to prepare the minds of Nigerians for 'the repair is too expensive, we need to partner with Lagos State to build a new bridge' . Lagos State government simply can't afford to build a 4th mainland bridge by itself.Mr Tinubu is an evil genius. Even more so than Mr Babangida. It is extraordinary that un 6 years as government Mr Jonathan did not even remember to fix the road to his town. |
My nephew scored 284 in Jamb, and 9 distinctions in WAEC with 6 A1s including Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology and others, plus B2 in English. He is in the top 2.5 % of all the people that wrote Jamb, and given the poor nation-wide WAEC results, he is probably in the top 0.1% in WAEC. Yet, because he is a few months under 16, both ABUAD and Babcock have said they can't admit him for medicine because JAMB is blocking under 16 applicants. His class mates who are just 60 days or more older than him, and who scored less in both jamb and waec are going to university, but he can't. A child that is 15 years 10 months old can't be admitted, but one who is exactly 16 years can. So 2 months is the defining maturity for coping in university? It just doesn't make sense. |
Mr Adenuga simply can't cope with the level of investment required to upgrade Glo's systems across the country. It requires several billion dollars, which one single individual can't deal with, unless you are Dangote. I am surprised he is holding on so tight to a Glo that is collapsing instead of inviting a foreign investor to take a 49% stake in the company. He is very close to France, so France's Orange phone will be an ideal partner. Better to own 50% of a thriving company than 100% of a failing company. |
grandstar:I don't think so. This is a private investment. I think by Indians. They will have done their home work on viability. No white elephant here, though I think some of the job numbers are probably exaggerated. |
This is laughable. Are these ADC people. Did they not get the memo sent by voters over the weekend that most voters don't want nothing to do with ADC, and don't want to change the current government. |
That first result is vicious. How can a whole pdp get just 1 vote. The way some of these Governors will deal with ADC come 2027, ADC will regret the day they sold out to frustrated politicians. |
If that Edo Governor can, he will order the arrest of anyone that tries to vote ADC or even mention A..D..whatever at any polling booth come 2027. He views any opposition with total disdain. He said last week that Tinubu will win 98% of the votes in Edo come 2027. At the rate he is going, he will deliver at least 60%. |
And we are told all of these APC followers will suddenly turn around in 2027 and vote Mr Atiku or Mr Obi of ADC. So all the Northern APC big wigs who are benefiting from this government will not do everything possible to protect the source of their bread and butter in the hope they will continue to benefit until 2031? Instead, they will ask their followers to vote ADC candidates to take over while the APC stalwarts are sent into political wilderness by their own handiwork? The Northern PDP stalwarts who ganged up against Mr Jonathan to kick him out of office were replaced by APC appointees once Mr Buhari won, and many of those PDP stalwarts who thought they were fighting for Northern interest by ganging up against their own party not only lost their livelihoods, they have disappeared from national politics since Mr Jonathan lost, and PDP has not recovered since 2010. You think Northern APC stalwarts will not have learned from that? For most Northern APC stalwarts, 2027 will be about personal interest, not Northern interest. |
blamingthedevil:That's wickedness o. Zero for ADC. And PDP votes also collapsed. A whole PDP in Edo. Wetin happen. Were the results written in an APC office ![]() Seems 2027 will be a shocker. The results that will be written in Southern States ehn. And INEC will reject the same fraud in the far north. DSS, no come arrest me I beg. Just my thoughts. |
Awesome01:True. But to be fair, I suspect APC people were also caught, but the Police probably received orders to let them off sharp sharp. This is Nigeria na. |
I don't think PDP can ever change. I still shudder every time I hear those 3 letters. PDP. The idea that one PDP lady allegedly carted away with over $2 billion of our money and not a penny can be recovered is excruciating. And the idea that Mr Jonathan, under whose watch some of the most egregious stealing in the history of this country happened, is nursing the thought of contesting for any public position, let alone the presidency of this country, leaves me pondering. Did he miraculously convince himself that he was an effective president or he is just deluded, wallowing in the mischievous prompting by failed ADC/PDP politicians ![]() |
I remember being told by an older friend a few years ago that Mr Tinubu is the most connected person in Nigeria. He said there was no state where he could not call 10 powerful people at the press of a phone button. That was long before he became President. We see the signs all the time. Every one that matters in Nigeria claim to have been his friend at one time or the other. A couple of days ago, Prof Soludo said they have been friends for over 22 years. Enugu state Governor said the same a few months ago. No one else in Nigeria has Mr Tinubu's type of connect. As a result there is always someone somewhere in the innermost recess of Nigeria, from the most remote senatorial district in Sokoto to Osun, to Plateau, to Cross Ri ers, Niger, Gombe, Ondo etc who will stand up for him when the chips are down. That will count in 2027. That is one of the differences between Mr Tinubu and Mr Jonathan. All the PDP northern chieftain that ganged up to canvass votes for Mr Buhari were not people Mr Jonathan had long standing relationships with. They only met in pdp. They found it easy to betray him. |
I hope, in Bornu state, he is in the same camp as the Vice president, otherwise the VP will be very worried about any close rapport between this man and the President. If this man is propped up as an alternative power base in Bornu, and he and his camp can deliver at least 25% of the state's vote, hmm. |
princepee:There we go. The usual excuse. The so-called leaders in ADC simply don't have credibility. They are seen as mostly corrupt. They can't deceive Nigerians with their pretences. The thought that a character like Mr Dino Milaye can become a Minister in an ADC government is alarming. |
muykem:Just 2 years ago, before Mr Tinubu came into power, no one would have believed it would be possible to almost completely eradicate oil theft. For more than 20 years, no government could find a solution. Now this government has solved it. I heard on Arise news the other day that over 98% of all crude oil production is now accouted for. Virtually all illegal refinery have been shut down. Oil theft is now almost zero. That's Incredible. Things we thought were not going to be possible are happening before our ours. The government is even saying they expect to hit 2 million barrels by December or January. This is the type of action government this country has been waiting for for decades. But unnecessary bitterness (over nothing) means some people simply don't want or appreciate any of these advances unless a man from their region is in power. |
Wonderful. And they want us to vote out a President that increased oil production from 1 million barrel per day to 1.8 million per day in a little over 2 years. One of their reasons is...the President appointed Ojulari a Yoruba man as the head of NNPC. ![]() 2) Since this President came into office, not a single niger-delta agitation-related bullet has been fired. Not one. Thank you very much Niger Delta people. The President is managing the situation very well. 3) in just 2 years, FIRS is increasing revenue generation to the Federal government to unprecedented levels. This is enabling record levels of funds to be shared with State governments. But the opposition remains bitter. Their reason? The young man heading FIRS is another Yoruba man, meaning the President is tribalistic. So basically, instead of competent hands irrespective of where they come from, they would rather continue the failed domination by people from a certain part of the country that have held the country back for decades. Now the naive Mr Obi is being used like a baby by those people to destabilise the best government we have had in over 60 years...all for the purpose of bringing back the same domineering people to come and dominate and hold the country again. Unbelievable. |
So we should join hands with you that allegedly withdraw over N100 billion of the cash meant for the same common people you now want to rescue abi. Go and clear your name my friend. |
When I read Mr Obi's statement, it was the first time it crossed my mind that Nigeria may struggle to reach the heights of development for a long time. The day before, I had watched a Nairametrics you tube program hosted by the owner where he compared the level of capital inflow and FDI to previous years and went back up to about 10 or 15 years, and this years capital inflow is the highest for several years. The way Mr Obi manipulated his own reading of the data to send a twisted message to his followers left me in such shock that I couldn't even monster the energy to comment on the thread. Any country will struggle to go anywhere with Mr Obi's type of destructive, self-centred, and evil deception. He doesn't care if he destroys the country. It's all about him, him, and him. The funny thing is that he doesn't even radiate the knowledge or capacity to lead the country. |
oyeb15:This is all false. You do not pay back student loan until 2 years after you start work. So, if you finish NYSC in 2026 and don't find work until 2029, you will start paying back the loan in 2031. How is that a bad deal please? Don't forget also that in addition to the loan, which the government pay directly to the school as tuition fee, each student also receive N20,000 FREE money (not loan) paid into each student's bank account EACH MONTH, even when the students are on holidays. This is one of the best policies introduced by any government in the history of Nigeria. How anyone can oppose it just because of politics is beyond me. |
I think Mr Obi still doesn't realise this is not 2023. At least half of those who voted for him then will not bother next time around. |
Sweathead:I travelled to Ondo state for business recently and noticed the following: 1. There is work ongoing from Shagamu interchange on the Ijebu Ode - Benin Road, with old asphalt being scrapped and concrete being laid on the dual carriage way. 2. The road between Ore and Ondo city is being completely reconstructed and expanded to 2 lanes on either side. Clearing is ongoing and concrete has started being poured. A 40 - 45 kilometres new 4- lane road is a major project. So a lot of work is definitely going on outside Lagos in the SW, and in EVERY OTHER REGION in the country. I don't believe any government in the history of Nigeria has embarked on as many real road construction in just over 2 years as the current government. There are projects everywhere. |
If the implementation is successful, there will be no hiding place for property owners. Lagos will be able to generate hundreds of billions in revenue per year from property and other land taxes. If they link this with the Lagos tax identification number, na ghen ghen be that. At this rate, I think Lagos may eventually seccede from Nigeria if Nigeria's wahala becomes too much. If Lagos can build the planned Lagos State airport and a fourth mainland bridge (they have to try and do both while Mr Tinubu is in office), and they complete the Sokoto-Badagry road, then Lagos will be 100% able to move ahead without Nigeria. |
I suspect that all southern Governors will ensure that no Northern presidential candidate gets 25% of the votes in their state in 2027. If they achieve that, no Northern candidate can become president in 2027, even if that candidate gets 100 million votes in the North. |
Can someone mention 6 out of the 19 states where the President will not get at least 25% of the votes. Yet, it is highly likely that ADC led by Mr Atiku (without Mr Obi as his vice) will not get 25% of the votes in any State in the South. I struggle to see how Mr Atiku can win in 2027. |
Kaa4:You mean there can be expenditure without revenue? Where did you learn that from. |
Electricity supply to my place is the best it has been in at least 15 years. I can't complain. |
Fantastic news. I was with a state government official recently when he said that Akwa Ibom is on the coat tail of his state (Ondo) and may likely surpass Ondo as the highest producer of cocoa in a few years. Interestingly, I also heard that many of the farm hands and workers in Ondo cocoa farms are from Akwa Ibom. Many of the original owner families stopped showing much interest in the farms when cocoa prices was depressed for so many years. Now that prices have shot through the roof, they are returning to reclaim their farms. Nigeria should certainly take advantage of the current international market situation. |
Mr Amaechi talks without decorum. He is not the type to lead a country. |
