Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is There Still Sin In The World? by delkuf(m): 2:41pm On Jul 22, 2018
MuttleyLaff:
The bible, in Romans 12:5 and 1 Corinthians 15:21
lets us know that, it's through one man, that sin (i.e. missing the mark way of life)
and ultimately inherited faults etcetera entered the world through

The bible, in Genesis 4:7, gives an insight in to sin's modus operandi
According to Genesis 4:7, apparently
"sin is crouching at the door.
Its desire is for us, but we must rule over it
"

No wonder, in light of Genesis 4:7 above, the bible in 1 John 1:8, says:
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us".

God, in Genesis 4:7, told Cain about sin,
God warned him, in the verse, that, sin, is lying so close to the ground near him
and leaning forward slightly, in a ready position, to launch an attack and have him
It is always this "lying low, taking position and waiting to spring" same way, that sin operates or works
Cain's parents, Adam & Eve, before him, were at the receiving end of sin and how it operates and works.

14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15aThen when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin:
and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

- James 1:14-15

Now from James 1:14-15 above, the answer to question:Why Is There Still Sin In The World? becomes clearly visible & understood
as it confirms 1 John 1:8's position when saying:
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us".

Sin will continue and always be in this world,
as long as, giving in to desire(s), to do something, especially something wrong or unwise exists

Genesis 4:7, says the desire(s) is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.
as in, the desire(s), want to dominate you, but you must master, overcome or subdue it."

Sin, when the fullness of time had come, will cease to exist
Until then, sin is still in the world, it lives in and around all of us,
waiting in the wings, to be birthed, after lustful desire has conceived

What is sin?
It is an unattractive or unsatisfactory feature, in every person's character.
Sin, from God's point of view and a Jewish concept, is missing the mark
Sin is doing something, especially something wrong, that cant be permitted or that's unwise to the point of not meeting up with God's standard

It also, is deviating from not, doing each of the 3 righteousness Rights rites, at the same time.
i.e. Do the Right thing, done at the Right time, without stopped being at/on God's Right side

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you.
Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires.
Don't be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

- Colossians 3:5

How is lust formed, that gives birth to sin?
Colossians 3:5, corroborates 1 John 1:8, in that we have sin living in us.
Implying, when one goes along with thoughts that come up in the mind to do something, especially something that's wrong or unwise
then one will find themselves, consumed by the desire, as a result of giving in to whatever the lurking temptation was, that's within us.
Whenever these thoughts and strong desires are conceived but not checked,
they lead to committing an uncharacteristic error
Carrying out the uncharacteristic error & the state or condition of being wrong in conduct or judgement, is what gives birth to sin(s)

How does one stop the birth of sin,
how can one see self, dead to sin, through Christ Jesus
and live above every sin that reigns over one.
?

"Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions
and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.
"
- Galatians 5:24

Well, we know that James 1:15b said:
"sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death"
If what is good for the goose, is equally good for the gander.
then what Colossians 3:5 and Galatians 5:24 above,
are advising as a good antidote to James 1:15b, is that, kill sin, before sin kills you
Kill because what doesn't kill you, will likely try again

"For if you live according to your human nature, you are going to die;
but if by the Spirit, you put to death your sinful actions, you will live.

- Romans 8:13

"Let me explain further.
Live your life as your spiritual nature directs you.
Then you will never follow through on what your corrupt nature wants
"
- Galatians 5:16

Apart from Romans 8:13 plus Galatians 5:16 above and Galatians 5:24 further above, Galatians 5:16 warns:
"Don't let sin keep ruling your lives.
You are ruled by God's undeserved grace and not by the Law.
"
sin is simply disobeying

Then why did Jesus say the follwing

He who must be great in the Kingdom of God must be a servant of all (Matthew 20 vs 26, Mark 9 vs 35).

Part ofour calling as sons involves us learning to serve...because it teaches us humility, and also makes us by extension more Christlike.

As exemplified by Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. Imagine that God, the creator, washing the feet of his creation (a job that would have been performed by a servant).

Being a servant does not lessen our sonship...it enhances it and makes us more of a light to the world.
you've said it all. part of our calling is to serve, but that doesn't make us servants. notice it

The First miracle of Jesus in The Holy Quran

The Bible says the first miracle of Jesus, occurred when he was over thirty years old. In John 2:1-10, this miracle when Jesus turned water into wine in a wedding. Jesus made this potent wine that the men have "well drunk." This was not grape juice. It was the same wine that, according to the Bible, enabled the daughters of Lot to seduce their father, Genesis 19:32-33. It was the same wine that the Christian is advised to avoid in Ephesians 5:18 "And be not drunk with wine." The Quran does not mention this alleged miracle to Jesus.

On the other hand, in Islam, Jesus′ first miracle occurred when he was a baby. He spoke as an infant. He talked to defend his mother from any devious judgment from her people. Now ask yourself, which version of the first miracle would you choose for Jesus? The Islamic version or the Biblical version? The Christian could read in the Quran everything he wanted to know about Jesus, but in the most noble, elevated and sublime language. A Christian or a Muslim, when reading the above story in the Quran, could not help being moved by it. I personally saw Muslim adults crying in humility when reading or listening to this miraculous story of the birth of Jesus.

The second section of Surah Maryam, Surah 19, Ayah 16 to 40, tells the story of the birth of Jesus:

16. Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East.

17. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.

18. She said: "I seek refuge from thee to ((Allah)) Most Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear Allah."

19. He said: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.

20. She said: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?"

21. He said: "So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, "that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us": It is a matter (so) decreed."

22. So she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place.

23. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree: She cried (in her anguish): "Ah! would that I had died before this! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!"

24. But (a voice) cried to her from beneath the (palm-tree): "Grieve not! for thy Lord hath provided a rivulet beneath thee;

25. "And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee.

26. "So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye. And if thou dost see any man, say, "I have vowed a fast to ((Allah)) Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into not talk with any human being""

27. At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: "O Mary! truly an amazing thing hast thou brought!

28. "O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!"

29. But she pointed to the babe. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?"

30. He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah. He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;

31. "And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live;

32. "(He) hath made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable;

33. "So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)"!

34. Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute.

35. It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, "Be", and it is.

36. Verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord: Him therefore serve ye: this is a Way that is straight.

37. But the sects differ among themselves: and woe to the unbelievers because of the (coming) Judgment of a Momentous Day!

38. How plainly will they see and hear, the Day that they will appear before Us! but the unjust today are in error manifest!

39. But warn them of the Day of Distress, when the matter will be determined: for (behold,) they are negligent and they do not believe!

40. It is We Who will inherit the earth, and all beings thereon: to Us will they all be returned.

The above verses represent the personal side of the experiences of the worshippers of Allah in relation to their familiar with the presence or environment.
you see the problem with you Muslims is that you are tagging the Holy Bible with Qur'an, that is wrong. we Christian don't believe your Quran. the Bible is different from the Quran. what you study in the Quran, is only in the Quran. it is not in the Bible. so don't tag it together

Wow...a good topic!

Well, I would respectfully disagree with the OP for 2 reasons

1. Christians are called to be servants of all, and also to be a light. And one of the ways you can do that is by being in politics.

If Wiberforce had not been a politican in 18th-19th century England, he wont have been able to lead the moves that led to slavery being abolished in British dominions. Likewise, a lot of good laws in the Western world were moved by Chirstians actively participating in politcs. You don't get that by praying in the church.

2.Jesus said that we have to be as wise as serpents. So...if we don't take part in politcs, we lose a means by which we can influence the world for good.

ALSO...

Back in the time of Jesus, most governments were not participatory democracies, but autocracies. EVEN then, Chirstians still did things that changed their world.

For example,a common practice in Rome was the throwing away of unwanted children...who were then raised as slaves. Chirstians took in some of these kids, and raised them.

PLUS

The gospel spread in many places because Christian missionaries converted the ruler, and the population followed.
You are called to be servant, not we Christian. as a Christian, I am a son to God. thank you

Pls pick a poison rather than changing directions.

Initially you said God is God and Jesus is his son

Now you are saying God is God but God also made Jesus God because of his humility.

Which is which sir?
you didn't get it. yes Jesus is the son of God. and because He came to earth and died for our sins, without acting with pride or disobeyed God, God now made Him a God and Christ. for to better understand this, let say you have a company and your son is the MD of the company. You now told your son that if he could work and make the company grow to a certain level, you will make him the general overseer of the company both may be here in Nigeria and abroad. And your son attain that height, and you made him the general overseer. DOES that make him not your son any more? You only placed him in a better position. so the fact that God made Jesus doesn't mean He is not His Son. God only placed Jesus in a position that no one can reach. thank you
