Business / Re: Folorunsho Alakija And Her Husband, Modupe Separate After 30 Years Of Marriage by delpee(f): 5:37am On Mar 11
Konquest:

@CasualObserver,
What you posted is FALSE. Folorunso Alakija was NEVER a hair dresser. I see a lot of younger ones pushing this same false story and mangling history up. Let me explain more here to you and those reading this.

She trained in the UK as a professional secretary, returned to Nigeria from England and worked as a banker at IMB Plaza on Victoria Island, Lagos. She later resigned to take care of her small kids in the early 1980s and proceeded to establish the very famous company Supreme Stitches in Lagos State which was a top fashion design outfit for ready-to-wear clothes and many prominent folks in the society such as Mariam Babangida where her friends. These are facts that I personally witnessed in the 1980s through to the 1990s.

She comes from the wealthy Ogbara family who are indigenes of Ikorodu, Lagos State. Ikorodu is one of the 3 Ijebu LGAs in Lagos State and as you might know the Ijebus are one of the wealthiest subgroups among the Yoruba folks and in Nigeria. Her millionaire father even sent Folorunso Alakija and her siblings to school in the UK when she was not even up to 10 years old! So, she took a major risk by bidding for the deep offshore oil well in 1991 with her family members from the Ogbara family and her foreign technical partners and finally found oil in the highly risky deep offshore using FAMFA Oil as a vehicle..

I wrote about this fact just this year when some ethnic bigots and ignorant young ones here on NL (who were obviously NOT born in the 1980s and 1990s) defamatorily wrote that she slept her way with IBB or Abacha to get an oil well which to me is idiotic of these kids and an insult to those of us who knew Mrs. Folorunso Alakija right from the 1980s as a banker, oil mogul, ànd when she started the hugely famous Supreme Stitches which was the first in Nigeria to defined bespoke fashion designing and ready to wear for women. This is the reason why she is also the patron of Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN).

I hope this helps.

Thanks for this. I wonder where the false narrative came from. She comes from a wealthy background and was a banker in IMB before she ventured into fashion on a classy level....like Copperfield and Sofisticat of those days. Of course she sewed for the high and mighty. That's how she got to know Maryam.

People forget that oil wells were mostly allocated to men who either sold or abandoned their licences. With her level of exposure, she rose to the occasion and succeeded. She deserves praise not humiliation by anyone. She has remained humble and generous. May God in his infinite mercy heal her. May He guide and strengthen her to weather the storms and live her life in peace.

Politics / Re: Should Seyi Tinubu be the next Governor of Lagos? by delpee(f): 10:00pm On Mar 09
Oracleforce:

Seyi Tinubu shouldn't be the next governor....it will be a repeat of what is happened in Ondo.state during Aketi as the governor...from the information gathered ....Aketi died sorrowfully.....don't forget.he is married.to a Yiibo lady ....Yiibo lady will then be the first lady in Lagos state...and through his wife...Yiibo people will then lay hold of all the important and key post in the State....
During Aketi as the governor of Ondo state. , 45 percent of the civil servants in Ondo state are Yiibos...The Yiibo people in Lagos state will give him all the support and overwhelming vote for him knowing fully well.that the aftermath will be sorrowful

Tinubu will do the mistake of his entire political career if he allow his son , seyi Tinubu to be the governor of Lagos state and her Yiibo wife becoming the first lady
Gbajabiamala.can occupy the place .He married a Lagosian Wife...who have the interest of Lagos and.Lagosian.at heart...Yiibo lady will.not.have the.interst of Lagosian at Heart...but her people.

Femi Gbajabiamilas wife, Salamatu is from the North...I think Kaduna State.

What has he got to do with an accident caused by bad weather? Pa Wigwe is obviously weighed down by the loss of 3 members of his family all at once given that he lost his older son earlier. Very sad indeed.

May God comfort and strengthen him.

The kidnap of Kaduna students was reported in today's news.

I am the type that doesn't like regular fish aside from catfish. I eat chicken, turkey, and goat meat more, but yesterday I decided to change my regular taste and went to the market to buy this Titus fish. If I can remember vividly, it wasn't sold for more than #400 the last time I ate it, but guess the price is now. It was so sweet, though, and I am not sure if this lady scammed me or sold cheap.

Please drop the current price.

Update... This Fish was sold to me for 5k and the lady was doing like she did me a favour. cry cry

I think I have been scammed kiss cry

If it is original Mackerel aka Titus, it's a fair deal considering the size. The look alike known as Kampala is cheaper but not as sweet as the original.

Well it seems the Palestinians don't want a two state solution. They've been offered that before the most recent being during the Clinton era. The extremists among the Palestinians want to wipe out Israel and take over Jerusalem which is unlikely to happen. I pray that they agree to a two state solution soonest. It's the only panacea for peace in the region

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3Oqj9eKB6Q?si=5kIpOVVd4_25HOfK
This is just money allegedly stolen by one person, a DG of one of the close to 1000 government parastatal. The money stolen by all the DGs, chairmen and MDs of all the other parastatals is better imagined.
Meanwhile president Tinubu, CBN governor Cardoso and APC supporters are blaming Binance and bureau de change that is destroying the economy.

EFCC should be interested in this if true.

Funny enough I just read a report on Anambra Health Centres on Sahara news. It's embarrassing to say the least considering PO was once a governor there. Why didn't he make such a critical sector work for Anambra people? I admire his level of prudence as per old reports but the health sector is a major one for the people's welfare.

“If Nigeria can fix this, I do not see how the country will not benefit from a high influx of foreign capital.

Evidence of poor regulation and supervision if true but I don't think so.

I think we should work harder towards creating a conducive environment, and then, encourage our many billionaires to invest more in Nigeria instead of looking for foreigners, whose primary interest is their profit taking. The reality us that no one will love us more than we love ourselves.

Pastor Kumuyi is right. The Bible teaches us to always care for the poor, the fatherless, widows and orphans. It also teaches us to care for the sick and those in prison. Pastors should focus on this as much as they dwell on tithing.

Politics / Re: "Let Nations Die That Humanity May Live": Soyinka Advocates Decentralisation by delpee(f): 10:28am On Mar 01
We need to restructure this nation for faster progress and better unity. True federalism brings about greater development and less dependence on cap in hand beggar mentality of going to Abuja for money.

The days of the Western Region were indeed glorious years even with the battle within. Perhaps we need to redevelop our farm settlements where they still exist and create more ( Oyo and Ekiti seem to be doing that).

You can talk about Oyo State, but that goripapa governor who called himself dapo, the eleyi of eying, doesn't have any tangible idea, he's a very big mistake to Ogun state people

Funny. grin All energy concentrated on Cargo airport in the midst of abject poverty. He could at least have improved the economy of the rural areas by supporting farming activities and providing the much needed infrastructure...good roads, schools, water and hospitals especially. The only Governor that came up with useless keke NAPEP ambulances for the ill equipped PHCs where they exist. sad

He seems to have woken up lately. He's planning to work on the FG abandoned Lagos-Abeokuta expressway (to be tolled) and I think he mentioned that he plans to take the Red Line deeper into Ogun State.
