What's wrong with Isi Agu? It's a Nigerian outfit on a plane owned by a Nigerian. Must they wear foreign suits? I don't understand the need to criticise this.

clarocuzioo:
Each time I drive past the third mainland bridge, am marveled at quality of works done by Engr. Dave Umahi an Igboman.

Fashola was super minister of works, did a lot of maintenance on that bride for years but never did the quality of job done by Engr. Dave Umahi within just 6 months.

The irony now is that anyday Dave Umahi decides to contest for President in this country, they will remind him that he is an Igboman and as such is not permitted to rule Nigeria.

What Fashola worked on was the repair and reinforcement of the bridge structure which had deteriorated over time. Facts are on Google. Umahi has done the second stage of laying new asphalt to complete the job. Without the initial phase, this second phase would have been meaningless. Kudos to the two of them and the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos for this beautiful upgrade.

He can add Deut. 28: 7. grin

Sometimes, it's wise to consider the advice of your perceived enemy before throwing it out. You can at least review it with others to determine whether it's for your good or downfall. Shehu Sani saw the danger in the acquisition of too much of dollar denominated loans but Oga saw differently. Great pity where KD is now.

Ironically it's the Christians that persecuted if not exterminated the Jews, not the Muslims. Heraclius killed and destroyed their temple for killing his God. What Hitler did to them need no revisiting here. The pogrom was also well documented. The Qur'an just like the Bible provides for peace and war time, and if the two are to be considered together, the Bible is more violent than the Qur'an. It's the Christians that waged the crusade, it's th Christians that colonised the world and exterminated many tribes in the process, it's the Critaians that institutionalized slavery, it's also Christianity that gave the world the likes of Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, and Bush, among others. I can go on.

Also read up on the Arab slave trade for broader knowledge. BTW some gulf states are still codedly into this. The information is available online.

Regionalism only favors the Hausa, Yoruba and Ibo tribes of Nigeria. What about the other minority tribes who constitute the rest of the population? We are not going back to any stupid regional shit

What if States are carved out for minorities like Gurara State and similar ones in the North? I think most minorities in the South can identify with one State or the other.
Politics / Re: Mallam Yathabalwe: Most Wanted Boko Haram Commander Surrenders To Military by delpee(f): 10:15pm On Mar 29
Okay o. Good luck to him if he's truly repentant.
Hope he won't swear that he will stay free of crime only to return to duty after his self imposed leave. Someone who has killed really should pay for his crime to serve as a deterrent. If that was done when he recanted before, he wouldn't have easily gone back to harass farmers.
Politics / Re: Why Do We Not Build Side Walks In Nigeria by delpee(f): 1:26pm On Mar 28
There are side walks on many major roads in Lagos. The problem is that traders and sometimes beggars mostly occupy same so you're forced to walk on the road.

Dapo Abiodun needs to do better in Sango Ota and the boundary areas with Lagos State...Akute, Magboro etc. One needs to visit the Ota Industrial Estate, a good source of IGR. The roads have been terrible for years. Same with many township roads across the State.

Still no need for tribal sentiments. Pass on your message maturely. Same applies to Yorubas who do the same.

Maybe I grew up in the era of unity and less acrimony so I can't relate with the recent prevalent tribal slurs and unnecessary chest beating on NL. This forum used to have matured minds of all tribes discussing good topics intelligently. That was the attraction.

Na d new business for north bdis.... If northern elite like they should not start caring for out of sch children and advocating for reduction in population...e go touch everybody soon

Hmmm! Many years ago, in IBB era, the government tried to enlighten Nigerians on the need to do family planning. To cater for religious and cultural interests, it was advised that women should not have more than 4 children. Sounds fair but if a man marries 4 wives, that's already 16 children. Some are serial polygamists having large numbers of children that end up on the streets.

Truly, only Northerners can solve that problem by themselves.

Why will they go after them, when their share is sure.Several years ago an elderly nurse coming with some of their colleagues from school in Niger republic were Kidnapped in Kaduna. They didn't really hassle her because they felt she was elderly and was allowed to move about and even converse with them. She said early one morning she saw them loading Ghana must go of cash in the boot of a golf cart and she asked one of the bandits what the money was meant for she said to her chagrin that all the money was to be used for settlement of security agencies. But I don't think it's all the agencies that are privy to this.A small fraction of bad eggs amongst the good lots.

An eye opener since it's from a witness, though rumours have been rife on this.

I hope there's a law that deals with this level of deceit. That may serve as a deterrent for others.

Let embrace Agriculture, it is life saver from time immemorial. Right from Abrahamic era when population was in hundreds of thousands, they embrace Agriculture, Now that we're hundreds of Billions we should do better.

It has always been a good idea and our people thrived on it. All that is required is an improvement in the value chain, support of the government (Like we see happening in some States like Niger, Oyo etc) and a concerted effort to end insecurity. The point is that many people can't go to their farms or they've been displaced and without access to land.

Government at all levels should also provide basic amenities in farming communities like good roads schools, hospitals, light and potable water. This will make a huge difference.

How has amnesty stopped Boko Haram and ISWAP?
Those who make hundreds of millions from kidnapping and illegal taxes can not be settled with basic jobs or handouts.

Maybe Shittu has better understanding...

I think the Air force should have been involved as back up for the operation or maybe there was no Intel prior to the attack.

This idea of giving ransom without the necessary follow up only exposes our soldiers to danger.

Politics / Re: No One Has Answered This Question About The Fulani by delpee(f): 2:19pm On Mar 26
babasolution:

Going by records of the British, unless you are claiming it is false, the royal Niger company actually prevented the Fulani from launching attacks on igalaland, cos the British were based at lokoja then, the Fulani had already overtaken the Nupe( who are not Hausa's) so you are wrong that they took only the Hausa's.
They destroyed the okun Yoruba, destroyed the ebira koto in koto karfe, they only could not destroy the igbirra Tao and ogori( helped by hilly terrain), they destroyed the gwari, who fled leading to influx of refugees to the igala zone ,that's why there are bassa komo and bassa nge in the igala zone, they forced the jukun to pay tribute, they forced plateau tribes to pay tribute.

The Okun Yorubas still have Obas not Emirs.
Even the Ilorin emirate exists only because the British forcefully allowed that to stand even though the Oyos won back Ilorin. All towns outside Ilorin like Omupo, Offa, Ajase Ipo, Jebba etc have their Obas till today.

If so, it's wise to start your negotiation for resettlement/relocation and compensation early. Wiping out the village from history wouldn't be right.
